I'm so glad to know you appreciate Johnny Vegas. I've been accused of comedy snobbery at times (and I might be guilty) but Vegas is easily the most intelligent take on playing a village idiot I've ever seen and I absolutely adore him.
Edit: Also, while the QI audience is always very genuine and lovely, the Covid era episodes of QI is probably my favourite. There's something so wholesome about the atmosphere when they're almost alone in there.

It's...like you are at the table with them at a bar having a conversation...you're the 6th seat. Some jokes hit, some miss, and you don't have the 'crowd' to guide you one way or the other which is which! Though this episode was Rubbish (intended pun)...the next (?) one where they talk about canned laughter (with David Mitchell), is great!

Butyric acid is the molecule that was either used, or was a byproduct of preserving the shelf life of milk used in Hershey's Chocolate pre WW2. Hershey got a government contract to supply chocolate to US troops, while most European chocolate factories had swapped over to making war machinery. The US troops came out of the war loving the Hershey's chocolate taste, it was one of their only comfort foods and a small luxury in life. Indeed men all over the Allied world resented the US troops for having access to chocolate with which to woo women, most other people or troops couldn't get ahold of any.
Despite modern technology and food processing making butyric acid obsolete for preserving chocolate, the taste has maintained a stranglehold on the US population as 'what chocolate should taste like'. Butyric acid is naturally found in parmesan cheese, vomit, and particularly high concentrations in babies' vomit. Most international people despise the taste of USAmerican chocolate, usually finding it actively revolting.

There was then a concorde out in the open on a private runway until about 10 years ago when the area got marked for housing
There was some link from concorde to bristol (where I live), think it's where the engines were made but not 100% sure

Compasses are not labeled wrong... Magnets are not labeled wrong. Earth is labeled wrong. Maget's work on the direction of the stuff inside them. They all point one way. That way is what we call north because it points north according to our maps. North on a magnet points to magnetic south which is in the north. One of those things that was easier to just leave be rather than the huge fortune it would cost to change everything, lol

By the way, the pop can pull tabs are still collected here in St. John's, NL (and by people all over the province) and donated to the local Ronald McDonald House. IIRC, they did 2-3 shows without audiences, and then with strict guidelines shot some more episodes after a break and reconfigure with audience 'clumps' (Restaurants being one of them, set up Cabaret style). And using 2 separated studios instead of one to get the numbers higher. Other 'live' shows did similar things like "The Last Leg" and "Have I Got News For You", but more with a Zoom audience visible to the cast instead of in-person. Richard Osman's "House of Games" went a different route, it was always a small audience, but they moved shooting to Glasgow (I think), which had less restrictions while shooting and did something like 2 or 3 series at once (2 regular, and one 'special'). Interesting to see how they each adapted to all of the changes...

I was once caught speeding and I had to go to a meeting where there was about 15 of us being told the dangerous of speeding and stuff. I was a professional driver at that point so I answered all the questions correctly about the laws and what road markings mean and stuff like that. I was about 35 years old at the time and surprisingly I was the youngest person there by a long way. The person giving the lecture went and asked everyone why they were speeding. Most people said they were unfamiliar with the road and didn't realise it went from a 40mph road to a 30mph road. When they asked me why I was speeding I said "because it's fun". lol. They then said "would it be fun if I killed a person?" I said "maybe if it was you". Which made everyone in the room laugh. I went on to say that I'd been driving around 1000 miles a week since I was 21 and I constantly drive over the speed limit and only once have I ever been caught. No crashes no fatalities not even 1 close call. So either I'm a driving god or the drastically outdated speed laws need revising. Which got a bit of a cheer and a few claps. That made the woman giving us the lecture really angry. Hhaha

I wouldn't say American chocolate taste like puke per say, it just tastes like the milk has gone off before making it which is basically also how the process works. I remember I was in a shopping mall in Santa Clara right around Valentine's Day on my first visit to the US and they were handing out Hersay's Kisses. So I took one and immediately spat it out, completely involuntary, I literally couldn't help myself. You probably all know that feeling when you get something in your mouth that you know is not supposed to be there and you try and get rid of it. So I asked the poor girl, rather agitated why she was handing out what I assumed was chocolate that had gone way past it's sell buy date. She was obviously completely baffled, so I asked her to taste one, and she said it was completely fine. I then tried another. I didn't immediately spit it out this time but noticed the flavour of the gone off milk. Put it back in it's wrapper, and told the girl that she really had to taste real chocolate some day and then she'd never go back. When I got back to the airbnb I looked it up and found out they use butyric acid in most American chocolate.

Agreed. It contains one of the chemicals that give vomit its distinctive taste, that doesn't make it taste like vomit unless you're particularily sensitive to that chemical. Just like some cheese smells remind you of foot odour but they're definitely not the same.

When I first came to America (Orlando, Florida in April 2013 to be precise) on holiday/vacation with family, me and my Dad loved chocolate and we were eager to try Hershey Chocolate.
We bought a bar, stuck it in our mouths and were instantly repulsed. The stuff was vile, and now I know why.
The only good Hershey bar is Cookies and Cream, although I think that might just be one made for the British market as it tastes amazing and not like vomit. 😂🤢

Talking of the the history of England and the UK it always says when the Romans invaded and the Vikings invaded. Not entirely accurate. It was really an 'invasion' as we know it. Sure they came over and locals would try and fight them off protecting their land or what ever. But most of the time is was a peaceful integration. Sure there were rebellions and towns that stood fast trying to fend them off. But the Romans and Vikings brought more good than bad so it depends on where you were at the time and what you'd call invasion.
