You need to watch Tim Minchin singing his song called Prejudice. You'll enjoy it I reckon. He wrote the music and songs for the musical Matilda. He's very talented.
I’ve been singing Prejudice everyday this week, it’s great for reactions too.
I need this reaction!
Yes. The best Tim song.
This ^^^
Yes!
You should check out Thank You God, Storm and Inflateable You by Tim Minchin.
Given you generally react to TV shows and movies I’d say look into full length shows of Tim’s with multiple songs. Then you can either edit it down or if the proves to be impossible just chop it up into small pieces for posting.
only a ginger ...
Not only is Tim a musician stand up he also wrote the musical stage play Matilda
No he didn't write the Broadway and West West musical Matilda, he was simply just the composer and lyricist he was also the composer and lyricist of the stage musical Groundhog day. White wine in the sun Is the song that convinced rhe producers of Matilda that convinced them Tim could do more serious work
Tim is an Aussie genius! We love him here in Australia. Piano virtuoso and comedian, writer, poet, philosopher! Some of his best songs include the Pope Song, Dark Side (Awesome version), Thank You God, and Storm (a beat poem).
You forgot actor and activist and humanitarian, he stars and writes in his own hit TV show called Upright and when he is touring he donates large sums of money to local charities
@@jackwhitbread4583 yes I usually put all of those as well 😆
And white wine in the sun for a great Aussie Christmas song
Just saying, it’s worth following up on basically all the Tim Minchin songs that people have recommended thus far.
Prejudice is probably the best place to start
I'll throw my hat into the Tim Minchin ring and suggest checking out "The Good Book"
Tim is a musical legend. Some of his best songs are. Prejudice, Thank you God, If I didn't have you, lullaby, inflatable you, Rock and roll nerd, Darkside, confessions, and my personal favourite (If you really love me)
There was a movie about Operation Mincemeat (movie's uncompromisingly called Operation Mincemeat) released just last year. Well worth checking out if you're into WW2 history
RECOMMENDATION: "9 Life Lessons - Tim Minchin UWA". It's a recording of Tim Minchin's extraordinary keynote address (what is sometimes called a "commencement speech") to a graduating class at the University of Western Australia. Absolutely brilliant!
Of course, it'll lead you down a rabbit hole of some of his amazing performances. But what an enjoyable place to spend some time!
Watch Tim Minchin-Dark Side the awesome version and the Pope song
Tim is a comedy legend, some of my fav clips are 'F Sharp', 'Storm' (Which has an excellent animated version on youtube), and (probably the one I've seen reacted to most) 'Prejudice'. (And yes, he is very musical, lots of parallels with Bill, although Bill is a bit more psychedelic)
Also:
If You Open Your Mind Too Much Your Brain Will Fall Out (Take My Wife)
WoodyAllenJesus (imo the best version is the original (AFAIK) from The Jonathan Ross Show, which wasn't broadcast for stupid, archaic reasons)
Cheese
And many, many more.
Rock and roll nerd, Thank you God, The fence all great additions too
Dark Side is my fav but every song Tim makes is awesome :)
@@iwasinnamuknow Dark side is not a song, it's art
This beat poem would also be my suggestion, it's my favorite
If you're interested in theatre you might have come across Tim Minchin that way.
He played Judas in parts of the world tour of Jesus Christ Superstar as well as the filmed version of the tour.
He also wrote the music for the musicals of Matilda and Groundhog Day - earning him Tony nominations for best score.
You left out that Tom won many Olivier awards for his composer prowess, the Olivier award is just as prestigious if not more so than the Tony awards
@@jackwhitbread4583 Honestly, I just didn't want to write a long reply. I know very well about the Oliviers - I'm a theatre geek. :)
The Oliviers and the Tonys are 100% equal - Tonys - Broadway and Oliviers - West End, but I would still say the Tonys are more prestigious. Simply because a lot more people know what they are. Unless you have an interest in theatre you won't ever have heard of the Olivier Awards.
Love reading all the love for Tim in the comments. He's my favourite comedian. In fact the last tour he did is being shown in UK cinemas for one day only in November and I booked my ticket today. Definitely check out some of his songs
Tim Minchin is a glorious man. He was born in my town 🤘
Tim Minchin is basically an Australian Bill Bailey: musical comedian / musical impresario / sometime actor / raconteur. Has been on the cabaret comedy scene here for years but is arguably best known internationally as the guy who devised the 'Matilda' musical, the film version of which is coincidentally about to premiere on Netflix (on Black Friday).
And yes, Churchill won the Nobel Prize for Literature in 1953 for "his mastery of historical and biographical description as well as for brilliant oratory in defending exalted human values".
Tim Minchin is a 'quintuple threat' and one of the superlative wordsmiths of our day, as demonstrated by his song "Thank you God" with the MSO, and his extraordinary, hilarious and philosophical beat poem 'Storm'. Both these are probably what got him invited on a podcast hosted by a physicist in order to talk about science education and communication.
His humour can be as naughty as Jimmy Carr's, as in the Full and Uncut version of 'If I didn't have you', and he is one of those really really good people who get very very angry (like Terry Pratchett) and so we get Minchin's uncompromising and uncompromisingly filthy Pope Song.
If you've ever been a parent, or parent-adjacent, you need to be consoled and understood by "Lullaby" (again with MSO), If you want unexpected sweetness, humanity, and self forgiveness, one of my favourite songs "Not Perfect". "White Wine In The Sun" is the atheist's Southern Hemisphere's Summer Christmas song, full of love and longing for simple family moments, and the once a year trip to church to please your older relatives. It expresses how about 85% of Australians experience and feel about Christmas, and is the song that won him the contract to write the musical Matilda when the Matilda talent scout saw it performed as the encore to one of his shows.
But it's Dark Side (Awesome Version) that is my favourite of his, just a jaw dropping display of vocal and concert piano level talent tied into a wryly self aware ironic display of performative emotions, both light and dark. He's a singer-songwriter, concert pianist, comedian, actor and composer, and just genuinely all around nice bloke. I know you aren't a music reactor, but Tim could arguably fit into a British Humour slot (He moved to London!). He's a thinking man, very eloquent, and so are you. I bet you'd find a lot to say, although you might get dragged into uncomfortable territory by him being an uncompromising atheist, empiricist and humanist. Religious Criticism on my podcast!? Uh Oh!
But he's *extremely* popular to react to, youtube audiences like me follow Tim Minchin reactions around ;)
Brilliant Timnopsis!
I would absolutely watch you react to some of Minchin's comedy songs
Monty is a common nickname for Montgomery. Never heard Winnie before. Anyway it's more endearing than lacking respect. And if it's a lack of respect, so what?
If you like Tim Minchin, by far his best performance is his show "So Fucking Rock". I loved that dvd so much and watched it so many times I actually ruined his other performances for myself coz I was always comparing them to that dvd. Definitely get it and watch it for yourself. The jokes are delivered better in that show than any other clips you'll find on youtube. I was laughung my ass off but he even made me cry by the end!
Tim Minchin. Well, you should check out:
"Prejudice"
"Thank you God"
"Storm"
"Lullaby"
"White wine in the sun"
"Not perfect"
"If I didn't have you"
"Rock'n'Roll Nerd"
"F#"
And, watch at your own peril, "The pope song"
Time minchin is a genius, that's it. If you react to tim minchin you will love love love him
Tim is a musical genius..Australian but adopted by the UK...you have to react to everything he has ever done...😁😁😁💗🇬🇧
he was born in england
Born in the UK to Australian parents.
You are both correct about QWERTY - it both slowed them down in one sense, and the result of that was less jams, which sped them up overall. If that makes sense! The original layout didn't have the R on the top row either, but the designer of the layout switched it up there (IIRC it was switched with C) specifically so the word 'TYPEWRITER' was on the top row, which helped the salesmen of typewriters to demonstrate the layout.
You should definitely check out Tim Minchin. He's a musical comedian. Well, he's got his fingers in many pies, but you could say that's his bread and butter.
Check out Tim's song White Wine in the Sun, the only secular x-mas song for people who live in the southern hemisphere.
The fact about Shaw being the only person to have won both an Oscar and a Nobel prize is outdated. Bob Dylan is the second person to do that feat.
I feel the need as a New Zealander to clarify that kea are actually among the most intelligent animals on Earth. They jusr have the self preservation instincts of a russet potato.
Tim Minchin is awesome, he does actually play the piano and sing very proficiently.
I walked into a wall that was painted black, at night, ouch ( the footpath , also black , turned left, I didnt )
Congratulations on partly turning British with using A&E rather than ER. I get similar satisfaction each time i hear my American girlfriend use a British word or phrase she heard from me, most commonly she uses 'pissing' and 'gormless ', which are words i say a lot lol.
You really should check out Tim Minchin's Thank you God (the full 11 minute or so version) and a video titled Storm.
Tim is a bit of a genius. You'll love him. Start anywhere and you'll be in a fantastic wormhole. (Imo begin with Prejudice)
You don't know Tim? He's a musical comedian like Bill.
I first encountered Tim Minchin on a BBC Radio comedy programme performed by him and two other now famous young comics starting their careers, entitled ‘Mark Watson makes the World Substantially Better’ - the third was the fabulous Tim Key.
Isy Suttie, another reason to watch Peep Show =D
Tim & Bill are 2 of my favourite intelligent musician comedians ever. Worth watching anything you can find from both of them!
English, Scandies & Dutch must have similar tongue shapes when making words, because people from these areas can often just jump into each others accents and there nationals sound basically English within a couple years of living here.
Most people don't refer to Montgomery and Churchill as Monty and Winnie but toffs like Steven Fry might.
I bet he was dandled on their knees when they visited his grandparents or vice versa.
Tim is great! he wrote all the music for the musical version of Matilda - they have just turned it into a Netflix movie i think it will be released in november/december.
some Tim songs you should check out : thank you god, the pope song, lullaby, Cont. , rock and roll nerd
Montgomery is pretty universally called 'Monty' ........ Churchill is not often called Winnie but is sometimes
12.00 I'm glad I'm in the company of Stephen, having copied out a novel myself to learn to touchtype when I was about 20. It was Crime & Punishment though - fitting given the time it took, now that I think about it.
You should really react to PREJUDICE and THANK YOU, GOD!
Clever and funny!
QI episodes to react to: Series A, Episode 2, “Astronomy”, Series D, Episode 12, “Domesticity”, Series K, Episode 14 "Kris Kringle", Series Q, Episode 12, “Quagmire”, Series Q, Episode 16, “Quads and Quins”, Series R, Episode 6, “Ridiculous”, Series R, Episode 13, “R Animals”, Series R, Episode 14, “Rogue”, Series R, Episode 15, “Random”, Series R, Episode 16, “Rock ‘n’ Roll” (series R ep 14-16 all have Bill Bailey), Series S, Episode 14, “Sexed-Up”
Also, if you haven't had the chance, watch _A Bit of Fry & Laurie_ and _Jeeves & Wooster. A Bit of Fry & Laurie_ is funnier but both really show off both Fry's acting ability and Fry & Laurie's great chemistry.
You should be curious about Tim Minchin, he's a virtuoso level pianist and yes he was a musical comedian although he is mostly retired from comedy and hasn't released new material for a decade. All of Tim's work is gold, from his comedy to his more serious studio album to his hit TV show which he co wrote and stars in titled Upright and even to the musicals he composed, Matilda and Groundhog day. All Tim's work is well worth a watch .
Check out Storm and The Pope Song by Tim Minchin. Also, various clips of his songs are available on UA-cam.
Just an amazingly talented good sport 💖
Great episode, thanks for sharing 🥰🥰
Tim Minchin. Lullaby, Not Perfect, Prejudice and you will then be down the most amazing rabbit hole.
I've seen Bill and Tim on stage. Bill is great but if Minchin was on at the same time I would at the Minchin concert.
You really should react to the Big fat Quiz 2015. Also known as the Bad Dong episode. 😊
Haha everyone going mad for Tim Minchin in the comments
Tim is hilarious glad theres a lot of love for him in these comments. Loads of his work is philosophical and makes fun of religious ideas through the means of piano/song. These are some Tim Minchin suggestions to react to (there'll be different versions/videos of the same one but the live ones with the most views are the best):
Lullaby
The pope song
Thank you god
The good book
Some people have it worse than I
ten foot cock and a few hundred virgins
If you really love me
Inflatable you
Confessions
Tony the fish
You grew on me
I love jesus
Any Tim Minchin song is a good choice. Some are quite rude but my favourites by far are "Pope Song" and "Peace anthem for Palestine"
There's so much excellent Tim Minchin stuff, but for my money the best introduction is "Rock 'n' Roll Nerd".
As a Dutchman myself, I dont sound like that at all if I speak English. Or do I?
You may have seen Tim in Californication, he played Atticus Fetch. One tip when looking for a video with Tim. Start with the ones he is solo on piano. There are a lot of appearances with bands that I don't think are as good.
Their Dutch accent is totally wrong. Only politicians who did an extra fast course in speaking English in public seem to have a bit of that accent.

So glad youve properly watched some Tim Minchin. I love him so much. You should totally record some reactions to his songs, primerily "Prejudice", I think its called "few hundred virgins" is a good watch and listen, theres a great one he did for the big fat quiz at one point but there great
You should what Tim Minchin doing "Prejudice"...
Have you ever heard of the phrase ‘The full Monty’? It means the whole thing, complete.
One thing to consider Neal. Tim songs are cannon fodder all over youtube bringing in thousands upon thousands of views. Jump on that bandwagon for a subs boost bro
I think the qwerty thing is more about different angles of those bars flying up, rather than slowing you down per se.
Tim was featured on one of the big fat quizzes (don’t remember which). He was asked to read out a question and instead wrote a song for it.
there is a movie called "i was monty's double". It is a form of affection.
Please please please Tim Minchin, "Thank you God"!
What you say about the typewriter keyboad is right, but maybe the typeset hammers line up so the hammers are spaced so that those commenletters are farther apart.
He does some stand but most of his stuff is musical comedy. He also wrote the Matilda Musical.
Tiiiimmmmmm I didn’t know he was on QI I may have to look up the original
I gave myself a black eye once by walking into a wall.
It was dark and I was in a hotel.
Tony the fish, the good book and storm are my favourite Tim bits.
Knights and Knaves is a QI episode you will like, Neil.
My left hand fingers often jam on the keyboard when I type "Stargate"
You might know him from footage of him making out with his married coworker.
My Favourite Tim Minchin is 'I can have a Dark Side too'.
Tim Minchin "Storm" is really good.
Check out The Pope Song by Tim Minchin.
E and D are the same finger though so...that has an impact
Pinch of salt, which makes more sense.
Tim Minchin 101 'Prejudice', 'Thank You God' and 'Storm (the animated version)' with 'Not Perfect' to finish! You are gonna LOVE it Neil !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!(Really hard to believe you don't know them already)
Tim did Maltilda the musical
Lullaby, The Pope Song and Thank You God (with the The Heritage Orchestra) in no particular order are my absolute favourite Tim Minchin songs. Plus If i didn't have you 😂
You've finally discovered Tim Mitchin??? He does more intellectual humour and often musical. There's a couple like this in the UK... Bill Bailey's act is a perfect example...
I'm sure Tim Minchin must be the love-child of Bill Bailey and, er, some hyperactive Australian woman who is also very funny and talented. His self-penned, self-starring comedy drama featuring his self-written songs is about to hit season two. (Perhaps too much of a control-freak!) It's fantastic, as is his support , Milly Alcock. It might be worth seeing if it's a reaction possibility.
Definitely check out Tim Minchin. Some of his songs are amazing. My favourite is probably Thank You God
An Australian musician.
Tim Minchin is brilliant. He is most famous for his comedy songs. Prejudice is definitely worth checking out.
Isy Suttie isn't as musically prolific as the others but she did a truly charming musical show called Pearl and Dave, about a very socially awkward man she became pen pals with. That led to a few seasons of Isy Suttie's Love Letters, and I just adored them.
I think the full qwerty story is that it did used to be different and people did get very fast on it but certain sequences of letters were both very common and prone to jamming. And so the solution was effectively to keep the same mechanism but move the type blocks around so that the common sequences were not too near each other. Bear in mind also that the order of the 'moving arms' from left to right is some unholy mess across all four rows of keys at once.
Kea are actually one of the smartest birds in the animal kingdom.
After Z, they should do QII QI second time around.
Apparently this is asked quite a lot. One if the elves recently did a Q & A on TikTok and suggested the next step after Z was to move onto numbers....but obviously nothing is set in stone
Tim Minchin is a woke fellow aussie ...Im not woke he is though big time im just big time aussie
