5 years later and this is still the best ES2 guide I've seen
God bless you, man. I couldn't find any decent, under 10 hours long guides for Endless Space 2 and you delivered!
I'm very happy to hear that, this is exactly why I started making shorter videos instead of mixing playthroughs and tutorials together. If there are any other things (or even other games) that you would like me to cover, then let me know ^^
You don't have to wait for your home system to fill up with pops before having your sanctuaries grow. You can set a sanctuary link and the pops will spawn there. Also, the sanctuary link spawns ships to that sanctuary.
Oops, I completely forgot to talk about the link -_- Thanks for the comment, I'm going to pin it for others to see
Yep, you are right, but i think is more effective to have all your pops and then make links
@@Danimally one reason to link before full is to put sleepers in a system before you abduct them. You could theoretically abduct the whole system in one fell swoop. Fill with pops, then either run a hack to abduct sleepers, or really mess with them: Set ship spawn link as well. Build ships (massive industry usually means multiple ships at once). In these ships, no movement. All ground benefits. Drop a behemoth if necessary, but do tons of ground support. When the hack finishes, force bad ground maneuver, decloak and attack, convert as many pops to sleepers as possible, abduct whole colony. Debilitating, to say the least, especially if you could pull it off on a decently colonized system.
How the hell did Amplitude turn a 4X into a stealth game and make it work?
Your videos are highly underrated. Excellent concise guides. Much love.
Thank you for both this guide and the hacking guide. I turned off the penumbra DLC as I just couldn't figure out the hacking mechanics but now after these two videos I play with it constantly. Thank you again Pangolin.
Great guide! Thank you so much, you've inspired me to like them even more!
Thanks for the guide! I normally don't like espionage-focused factions in 4X but these guys are huge fun to play.
Thanks a lot for this guide! Very useful!
Nice review, well done!
Thanks for the guide.... This is my type of gameplay Stealth and Hack all the way to Victory, to be honest Umbral Choir ships are so badass maybe i need to invest a little bit in militaristic tech then mostly focus more on expansion tech and science tech
Good guide, gonna go try these guys now!
Good luck ^^
i like your guide, short and concise... wonder why other's long and chatty guide get more view than yours (some of them make guide without even knowing the whats the exact tech do, then brush it off as maybe, and still get many sub, o_0)...
Thanks for making this guide, really nice. Quick question. If I want I send population or sleepers to a particular type of planet or sanctuary do I need to have researched the tech for that planet type? For example, send pop or sleeper to an ice planet (or sanctuary on ice planet) , does it require researching the tech for colonizing ice planets?
Yes
I managed to turn the Umbral Choir into the most genocidal faction out there. I only enabled the Supremacy victory and I was playing against the AI, yet before obtaining it I received countless notifications that I am close to obtain victory by elimination. I used a system improvement for manpower, which enabled me to fill my ships with troops, manpower which I would conserve for the cloacked probing ships also managed to find the purple slugs, which gave me a huge advantage. I only strugled against the Vodyany, for whose Arks acted as orbiting ships which provided troops my slugs could not eliminate. As I was overexpanding, my manpower generation plumeted, under the mutinous population which was really able to control with only one system and the ever incrrasing garrisons from each sanctuary. It did not matter, as the already installed manpower on the ships were enough to finish systems my purple slugs cleaned. I also imposed a lot of negociated truces, where I would also require for manpower, in order for some to accomodate my newly built ships. I strugled a little with the Lumeris, which at some point colonised at once, half a constelation, systems which have been razed recently and therefor were taken with most of their improvements. By that point I had the income and the production at sufficient values to mantain a full fleet for every half a constaltion so any intruder could be destroyed. I also obtained the achievement for winning only by razing settlements, the redsang burning smell. So for me, the Umbral Choir is easily the most genocidal faction in the game.
for some reason i can't create a sleeper on home planets of other races
Imagine the umbral choir with the cathedral of the swarm.
Cheers for the guide. Where are you from dude? I can't quite place that accent.
Hi, at 12:26 you have 100% happy population, but you have 12 of max 6 systems. How do you keep up the happiness?
There are some techs for lowering unhappiness in left side of science tree. Basicly they are with pink outline. Also some governers can increase happpiness.
How about umbral shadows ?
How do I buy improvements ?.
So basically, UC is glorified leechers???? Just what I wanted!!!! Thanks for the detailed and fundamental guide!! Made my UC experience fun and playable~~~~~~~
One time i won the game without even realising it in a game with my friends
None of them researched anti cloaking tech and i just hacked all their star systems
behemoth do not cloak anymore, i think ?
Thanks for the guide, wish you would have put music a bit lower tho, hard to understand you at times.
Noted, I'll do that in the future!
Un godly amount 2.5k industry? LOL I had 7k on my best systems as Vaulters by turn 80. Titanium --> voidstone + endless foundry --> voidstone + endless foundary + antimatter on level 3. This setup gives you + 7 industry per pop and + 120% at system level 4 I Just terraformed everything to atoll and ocean for max pop. Then I got The building that converts food to industry and top tier farming tech. 10k is possible with scientists in power. If I could somehow get industraialists it would be more better. Creating fleets of carriers on a few top tier 5 planet systems is just amazing.
Man. This faction can make 100k industry and 150k sciense on home sistem screen. And 500k sciens in sciens screen. Just try play with in repoblec and ecology. And look at laws.i have 48/8(1197 colonists) sistems with 100% happines.screenshot?(sry for my not well english).insane faction.Must be nerfed.
I mean it as a comparison to my other fidsi yields. You can absolutely go way higher than 2.5k ^^
@@PangolinAdvisor I just wana say about goverment and bonuses. Just try play at ecologysts in repoblec goverment. Insane laws for Choir. Just download save.Change goverment. Activate 3 last laws and look at boost. 30 Fidsi and 16 food pet ONE SHADOW!!! in full upgraded sistem ONLY 2 laws (Umbral anglers and elite shadows) laws on 45 shadows give to sistem 1350FIDSI(1350 influens !!!! for dont have benefit on this you must have more than 337 colonist and dont have any other influens incom) and 720 food with out any others multiplecative bonuses from any others building or tech . And law "backdoor boon" ... 2% on sciens and production bonus To home sistem from ONE back door!!!!I think its best way to play Umbra shadows. and Ecologist first law "hardship ready" insanly good. I forget about researching Tech to colonisation planet types. Just try it.
P.S,And "Umbral anglers" work on all population +4(on sanctuary too).Food not a problem for umbra choir.
Or this is a beta version or is a deeply modded match, since on turn 49, to have such growth it's simply impossible. Also I see you have no detrimental anomalies on the crescent that makes the fulfillment feasible, but definitely not on turn 50. Nowadays you minimum have 2x Unhabitable areas on crescent or even worst detrimental happiness anomalies that combined with 4x max sanctuary overpopulation initial limit, makes the system totally worst expanding at first.
To grow is better to put population spawn on an atoll or hi food planet and start from there. The penumbra are absurdly related to a good or bad environmental start. If the surrounds of homw system is empty or not interactable, simply pwnumbra will fall. Moreover pieatea will lock you down if not o ertaken before; this makes you want to slingshot with your scouts ratger than stop&scan; consequence is no initial extras to sell to dustbuy. Also, Penumbra shall really choose with good visionary mind what first 3 sanctuary to set... and mostly are atolls or terrans if available. The tecnique to Rush the sleeper previous the enemy expand, simoly doesn't work in pvp. Not only it's risky but totally stops your growth due to mutinous reaction from the main (and only) system.
The footage was actually taken from a multiplayer save file (with no mods running) and it wasn't a beta version either. An important thing to note, however, is that this game was played on "fast" speed and not on the default one ;)
@@PangolinAdvisor Still I do not see any standard anomalies on your crescents and no overcolonization effects with estatic population. Maybe feasible with governor +20 and the TEMPORARY boost of the university snd A LOT of luxury spent on boost.
Speaking about PVP. On a PVP section where Umbras are an opponent, simply a bureaucratic embroglio will destroy the transition of turn 40 by a serious detrimental escalation. How to discover umbras? Simply as it is written next: stick with pirates or play cravers and get REKT.
Dont't misunderstand what I am saying, I dont mean to criticize your tutorial. But the fair and pro game is meant to be played on average to low res, with med to high constellations (fight for your trade routes man), hard pirates and no randoms events. Whoever says that Umbras are op, never played the game with decent pvp chslkengers. Let's make it clear. Playing umbra is fun, different and enjoyable, but no standalone victory is feasible with science or wonder. The strong, very strong and seriously op part of Umbra's is to have them as supporters in your alliance. They simply makes you invulnerable in defence and border confinement. Hope this helps
