I hope the rail companies are paying you because your coverage is excellent. My wife and I are retired and have contemplated taking these journeys. Your videos have convinced me to make them happen. Thank you.
I love how you don’t converse with people on the trip yet you are via UA-cam with hundreds of thousands of us sharing along with your experience. Thank you. Moreton Bay, QLD AUSTRALIA
You often say "the only thing not fitting in is me". Kuga, I think you fit in just fine 😄 You're a seasoned traveller who loves adventure, so you can fit in anywhere! It takes a lot of courage to do it all solo as well. Thanks for another wonderful journey!🎉
A gold class solo fare on The Indian Pacific is AUD$800 to $1200 (low to high season) which is around US$540 to $800. Still a lot but the Gold Class is just about as good as the Platinum class only they don't tuck you in and read you a bedtime story.
Yeah, as much as I love trains, I would take the plane and spend a night in a 5 star hotel and eat at some Michelin stared restaurants. And it would still be cheaper!
Thanks for taking one for the team Kuga. Welcome to Australia - land of high prices and low value. Back in the 90's there used to be a thing called the Caper fare on the Indian Pacific - we would get that from Perth to Sydney. All you got was the seat for 4 days. Really helped to smuggle on a lot of booze to make the time pass. I think it was even cheaper than getting the bus across. Anyway, thanks again. Always wanted to see what was inside the fancy bit. Lol.
@@Timeonabike don’t be negative on your country man. At least you have a lot of space and great weather! Where i live it’s crowded and it rains a lot🇳🇱
The Indian Pacific used to have ‘cheap’ seats like regular train seating as well as gold class etc. My son travelled from Perth to Adelaide in 2011 in the cheap seats - it was bring your own pillow.
I did this trip about 11 years or so ago & the sleeper cabin was definitely nothing like this 😂 It was somewhere between a school camp facility & a prison facility. Even though you mostly just see desert, it was a great journey though.
Way back then, we used go to the Biennial Festival in Adelaide. One year, we decided that we'd catch the Indian Pacific back to Sydney. To do so, we had to take a Sth Australian day train from Adelaide to Peterborough and change. That was a bit of a nuisance, but nothing much. The day train was comfortable and was well timed. It was slow.. We enjoyed seeing the change in scenery as we travelled north, but having done the journey once had no thought of a repeat. We were back in Adelaide a few Festivals later at the time pilots were going on strikes. One morning we awoke to news that there would be a strike which would interfere with our return. Now, we do like Adelaide, but had work to get back to, so we straightaway dashed to Adelaide station and booked our return journey. In the couple of years since out previous journey, there'd been work to the tracks and standard gauge trains, including the Indian Pacific came into West Adelaide eliminating the change at Peterborough. Again, a pleasant train journey back. Having a double compartment each time meant that we had our own shower and loo, with no need to journey down the corridor. On each occasion, the food was far from adventurous but good cooking of quality ingredients. All staff were pleasant. We ventured once to the Lounge Car, but it was not the sort of place we enjoyed - but obviously it appealed to others..
Thank you once again Kuga, you always take us on the most amazing and scenic train journeys, that cabin looked very luxurious, and that food looked incredible.
a very enjoyable journey. thanks for taking us along. and it didn't cost me $3,000. LOL. The train trip I'd love to do is Toronto to Vancouver in Canada - beautiful country and it goes through the Canadian Rockies
Love your videos your commentary is hilarious so funny I have been binge watching all of your videos they are wonderful the food looks amazing and you display the rooms and show every aspect of the trip ⭐️⭐️
Thankyou Kuga, Ive been a Driver on that train some years back...next time your over let me know...their is a lot of Japaneese history in Cowra NSW( you werent far from that) and a memorial garden too the POWs and their famous escape..thanks for sharing regards Doc
I always find it interesting that rooms on trains in other countries often can be locked from the outside. In US on Amtrak, you can only lock the door when you are inside the cabin. I've always wanted to take a long train trip, but not if my things are exposed to theft if I leave the room.
As a comparison, I spent the same money on a 9 night cruise on Celebrity Edge from Sydney to Melbourne, Adelaide, Kangaro Island and Hobart, all inclusive of drinks and food and shore excursions! 😀
Love the videos, To answer some of your questions: Soba noodles with kangaroo is definitely not a common meal Maybe I'm not seeing it right but you often call "whipped cream" on deserts "ice cream" although Australians love both! I never even knew we had these train lines and I've lived here all my life! Certainly wouldn't pay so much for them but glad to live vicariously through your videos!
Great video and I am sure you fit in fine on that train! Every country gets tourists, that’s what keeps them going. I laughed when I saw those socks 🤣 you for sure needed them 😊
Those little blue chocolates they give you are exclusive and very yummy - and so they should be, it is the most expensive chocolate in the world given the cabin cost 😂. With the nightcap - when I travelled Perth to Sydney, the attendant asked if I would like Baileys or Port. My response - yes. So I was duly left one of each for the 3 nights..
Excuse my bluntness but if Adelaide to Sydney cost $4,600 (eye-watering) what did the full trip between Sydney and Perth cost? I'm an Aussie and I am considering one ov these once-in-a-lifetime journeys. Was it worth it?
@@ymfg9004 Ended up being over 10k for me for the full trip in Platinum. I subsequently did the Ghan, Adelaide to Darwin in a gold single and preferred this, despite the much smaller cabin.
To answer your question, soba is becoming more and more popular as a salad base because it's gluten free, delicious, and an alternative to pasta, bread or rice.
Thank you for sharing your experience on the Indian Pacific, so named because it travels between the Indian Ocean and Pacific Ocean. I live in Sydney, next time you're here feel free to let me know if I can support or assist you in any way. Would be great to meet you and express my appreciation for your journeys in person and share my own appreciation for the Japanese trains I experienced on my visits there. Cheers!
Hello there young man just discovered your Chanel absolutely enjoyed it so relaxing and your information was great and I’m an Australian so welcome happy travels 😊
Biggest advantage is seeing the $4600 disappear more slowly. Better value for money is a Business Class (its better than 1st class) high speed train in China, only 10% the cost or Beijing to Urumqi soft sleeper for around AUD200 for the 3100km trip..
Thanks for the videos and Sydney is still beautiful as it was when I was there last time (so long ago). I miss it so much and will get back at some day.
Thanks for the video. The cabin is quite big and the big windows are very nice. I do not understand why there would be a see through to the toilet and shower. Even travelling as a couple would be challenging.
I'm glad you're enjoying yourself here in Australia, Kuga! I've only ever travelled in Gold, so thank you for the experience in Platinum! Also, re: the soba... I think we just like using cold noodles in salad in general... (we do have excellent beef tho, I agree)
The food looked pretty great but this is the loudest shakiest train I have ever seen on your channel. I hope it was still worth the money with how squeaky and violent the ride was!
this setting is much better mr kuga san because you have your own shower room where you dont need a shower card and you can use the facility as many times as you need. the price is expensive to your kugas wallet but as long as you get all the amenities that is included in the travel package then it is worth it. save travels mr kuga san and be safe🚅🛫✈🙏📿
Hi Kuga. Thanks for the video, and your sense of humour. I am sorry you felt alone while dining. The sad fact is that, although it's a wonderful journey, on an amazing train, it's price is by far too extravagant for many Aussies. So the travellers on it tend to be old, retired people , spending their children's inheritance (😂) ...or international tourists.and mostly they travel as couples. I live on the East coast of Australia, and have family in Perth . I would prefer to travel by train, but the reality is flying is cheaper ( depending of course, on class of travel, and the airline). There is sadly no " public" train service from the East to the West , so if a person cannot fly, this train is the only option, and can often be booked out at least 12-18 months into the future 🤯😮
Very expensive trip, you can fly many times from Adelaide to Sydney for that price, the cabin did look very spacious and comfortable and the food looked nice and Great video it’s interesting to see what’s it’s like but I couldn’t afford it and couldn’t justify it
Mum and I did The Ghan and Indian Pacific in Gold Twin Pull man carriage (disabled) close to Explorer lounge and Queen Adelaide restaurant. Extra room but beds not comfy. We broke up our trips. Going half way and doing the other half in extra trips. Platinum is costly. Memories.
If train travel is your passion then there are cheaper options on this train.....Also if U ever drive from Adelaide to Sydney there is a lot of towns and hotels along they way so don;t think i your car breaks down U R out there all by yourself......Plenty of familes try this route and the towns along the way are nice too.
Very nice. Thank you. 15:26 You say, " The only thing that isn't fitting is me" ...No... from the Big Labowski... "sometimes there's a man, well, he's the man for his time'n place, he fits right in there..." That's you, dude. (You be you, they'll adjust.)

With THAT accent ......and you make fun of "Australian pronunciation"????🤨
That's the way I would like to travel. (Not going to happen) The luxury of your own bathroom cannot be under estimated. What a great journey.
There is no way a 24 hour train trip is worth 4600 dollars. That is crazy but thanks for doing it and showing the rest of us peasants your journey
Especially compared to the same time from Brisbane to Cairns, at a fraction of tge price plus sleeper pods!!! Watch his video.

Expensive but perfect relaxation and the menu was fantastic including the great nightcap choice. Loved the style on the train.

They were blessed to have you. Nice new socks, too. Gorgeous video, thank you, Kuga san. Camp 7 rules the Indian Pacific Premium!

Two different worlds watching you fill your meal card I had a flashback to your Amtrak meal card & experience.
$3000 for a day and a night-wow. To that, I'd have to add the cost of airfare from the US East Coast to Oz. Double wow.
I’d rather eat alone and enjoy the food than to be distracted by conversation lol
Thanks for the videos and Sydney is still beautiful as it was when I was there last time (so long ago). I miss it so much and will get back at some day.
Wonderful video! And you are never out of place!
I'm glad you enjoyed your trip. 😊 If possible I want to catch The Great Southern for my 50th in 2026.

That looked nice, but not 4600 dollars value. Imagine how much the whole trip is from Perth to Sydney.
I have a recommendation for your next trip to Australia: take the train from Sydney to Dubbo and visit the zoo at Dubbo.
With the whiskey maybe try an ice block, that will make it smoother
Ice in single malt?? That's just barbaric 😱
