Many years ago, I travelled on the Trans-Australian from Keswick to Perth and a few years prior, I did the opposite direction Peterborough to Sydney, after catching a 2-car diesel from Adelaide to Peterborough. Yes, things have over the years in relation to the travel on the Indian Pacific in particular to the service on the train and of course very expensive. I thoroughly enjoyed your video and the way how you described in detail on the train and the towns that the Indian Pacific travelled through. Well done. This train trip is definitely on my bucket list.
That woudl have been quite the experience. I caught a Bluebird from Adelaide to Broken HIll (via Peterborough) as a child - still a fond memory. Thank you for your feedback - lovely to hear!
Thank you for taking us on this wonderful journey. I'll be retiring to the Philippines in 5 years and then we'll be making our first vacation to Australia. But I think it will be a road tip. Again thank you very much. Peter from germany.
Great video mate, thanks for sharing. You give the viewer a really thorough and honest description and overview of the experience. All I have to do now is save my pennies until I can do the trip myself! Cheers "-)
One of the many highlights experienced on the Indian Pacific was the food. The food served on this train was the best ever eaten in Australia. And, when you observe how tiny the galley actually is, you find it difficult to believe that such quality can be prepared in such minute facilities.
I am commenting prior to watching. Once again have known all week there was a new video out and have been looking forward to the Sunday afternoon tradition. Some of the videos are getting plenty of views now which is well deserved 😀
Incredible video. Through you I can see a magnificent landscape of your great country. Also, you have shown so much care and love while filming as well as editing it. Greetings from Black Forest, Germany.
Greetings from Dubrovnik, Croatia. Why did I think you’d already undertaken this journey previously? Thank you Adam. I shall watch this in its entirety later today.
Greetings! I visited Croatia a few years ago and loved it. 😊 You must be very knowledgeable… I had been on the Indian Pacific before this trip, from Adelaide to Perth, but that was many years ago before I started making videos. 🤔 Hope you enjoy the video!
@@FromtheWindowSeatI lived in Sydney until the start of 2020 but am now permanently based in Dubrovnik and am pleased to hear that you enjoyed Croatia. I am now watching the remainder of this video. You are a natural presenter. I love traveling through the “eye of your lenses”. Cheers Zoltan
That’s an interesting dilemma - the ability to properly sleep on an overnight train. I’ve never been on an overnighter, increasingly throughout Europe many more such services are being re-opened. As a chronic insomniac, I question how well rested did you feel after this trip? Or any other overnight train?
@@Hongaars1969 Sleeping can be a struggle. I’m a light sleeper too. However, the more nights you’re aboard, the easier it gets. And I generally find I can cope the next day after one night’s poor sleep (as long as it’s just one). 🤔
Haha. now I know why everybody looked so well rested when they stepped off the train in Sydney. Myself I completed the journey in a half-reclining seat for 3 days back in 2006 with a pillow I bought in Kalgoorlie 😂
@@FromtheWindowSeat Being in your early 20's helps a lot ;-) At least they had a shower in "cattle class" and you could order pizza by phone in Broken Hill before the train's arrival. I befriended the train driver during the stopover in Cook, and got to drive the train on departure 😁
Interesting/informative/entertaining. Excellent photography job/interior of train/cities towns/wilderness areas the train passes thru. A wonderful way to tour southern Australia via this documentary. Some of those meal & desert dishes looked mighty appetizing.😋
I've been to Sydney and Gold Coast before but never been to other parts of Australia. I hope to travel across Australian outback someday. It's still in my bucket list.
Wow, epic journey and a great video documenting it! Back in the day, I did Sydney to Adelaide when the Indian Pacific still had a seating coach - I think it would be good to reintroduce it as a regular passenger service on the route as well.
I have relatives in Perth. I was lucky enough to fly over last Christmas...then visit Fremantle to see it's lovely sunset. You aren't the first vlogger I have watched, who has said the train sadly, can get really bumpy at night, especially between Sydney and Adelaide . But it's good to know it does improve. I think I prefer the single cabins, simply because the toilet and shower facilities are larger, even though one has to share with others.
Brilliant video Adam, other UA-camrs just give us the tourist version, you've given us a real 'local' insight. Will we be seeing you elsewhere in the world?
Thanks for sharing this excellent video. I remember when the first Indian Pacific trains started running. There was a three year booking period back then. Also, the original train route did not include Adelaide and the train would just pass through Port Augusta SA and on to Perth. I think detouring the journey to Adelaide is a great improvement. It not only gives onboard train passengers a time to rest, but it also makes it easier for Adelaide passengers to join the journey.
Thank you! Agreed. Because the train is no longer primarily about getting from A to B, it’s about the journey and experience, the Adelaide stop is a good thing. 😊
A great journey, to say the least. Thanks for putting this together. But I also can’t help by wonder what other passengers think of someone walking through the cabins while shooting a video. I mean, do they simply shrug it off, ignore it…?
The number of Platinum carriages has been reduced from 4 to 2, as the demand has dropped on account of the exorbitant prices. Likewise, the length of the IP has been reduced from 29 to 26 carriages. Great train staff, with top-notch service when Lynley Lott and Deb Munn are the Service Operation Managers.
Awesome video - I am so excited to say that I will be traveling the same route in a single, at the end of May 2024. This has helped me to understand what to expect. I love train travel.

One of the many highlights experienced on the Indian Pacific was the food. The food served on this train was the best ever eaten in Australia. And, when you observe how tiny the galley actually is, you find it difficult to believe that such quality can be prepared in such minute facilities.
Yes, the food is great. 😋
Amazing, I hope to go on this train one day!
Thank you! Fingers crossed for you. 🤞
I really enjoyed this adventure, thanks for the invite to join you
Your info is vital for a prospective traveler like myself.
So good to hear. Thank you!
Australia full of beauty n surprises. Love their beautiful architectural buildings.
Yes.
I am commenting prior to watching. Once again have known all week there was a new video out and have been looking forward to the Sunday afternoon tradition. Some of the videos are getting plenty of views now which is well deserved 😀
Wow, thank you! ☺️
Every flat earther should watch this video, because according to their map of Australia this journey should be almost twice as long.
🤣🤣🤣
Everybody arguing about their belief systems, because they don't know the real truth - apart from what they've been taught!
Tolol
😂😂😂
If the earth is a ball.... Then everyone in Australia is upside down
I enjoy viewing your well-made videos. Thank You.
Great to hear. Thank you!
Thank you, that was very enjoyable and informative!😊
So happy to hear that! Thank you!
Incredible video. Through you I can see a magnificent landscape of your great country. Also, you have shown so much care and love while filming as well as editing it. Greetings from Black Forest, Germany.
That’s wonderful to hear - thank you! Greetings from Down Under. 😊
Greetings from Dubrovnik, Croatia.
Why did I think you’d already undertaken this journey previously?
Thank you Adam. I shall watch this in its entirety later today.
Greetings! I visited Croatia a few years ago and loved it. 😊
You must be very knowledgeable… I had been on the Indian Pacific before this trip, from Adelaide to Perth, but that was many years ago before I started making videos. 🤔
Hope you enjoy the video!
I thought he had done one too aboard the Indian Pacific Eugena. You weren’t the only one. 😊😅
I know very little about Australia (apart from Home and Away!). This was so interesting. Train looks great. 🙋♂️👏👏🇬🇧
Great to hear that - thank you!
Haha. now I know why everybody looked so well rested when they stepped off the train in Sydney. Myself I completed the journey in a half-reclining seat for 3 days back in 2006 with a pillow I bought in Kalgoorlie 😂
Ha! Woah - yes sitting in a journey of this length would be quite the experience. 😝
@@FromtheWindowSeat Being in your early 20's helps a lot ;-) At least they had a shower in "cattle class" and you could order pizza by phone in Broken Hill before the train's arrival. I befriended the train driver during the stopover in Cook, and got to drive the train on departure 😁
@@oskich Pizza and your train driving experience sound great!
I drove to Uluru from Sydney in 2017, following the trains route.I can't put myself through such a drive again. This train trip looks interesting .
Yes, fair enough. Although Alice Springs to Uluru is still quite a distance.
Interesting/informative/entertaining. Excellent photography job/interior of train/cities towns/wilderness areas the train passes thru. A wonderful way to tour southern Australia via this documentary. Some of those meal & desert dishes looked mighty appetizing.😋
So glad you enjoyed it. Thank you!
I am looking forward doing this trip next year, thank you for this video.
Hope you enjoy it as much as I did! 😊
Please try out the Maharajas Express in India. The way you presented this train journey, I am sure your Maharajas Express journey will be a hit.
I’d love to visit India one day. 🙏
Greatly enjoyed this video. All Aussies should watch it.
Thanks so much! ☺️
New subbie...love the history you include in your video.. unlike other YTers😊
Thanks so much! ☺️
Good luck for your future journey from a viewer of Odisha, India.
Many thanks!
Another great video Adam - well done!
Thanks so much!
One of the best long distance train vlogs I have seen.
Thanks so much!
❤❤❤❤from Malaysia... will try to board this exact train and route
Fingers crossed for you! 🙏
@@FromtheWindowSeat Aamiiiiiin thank you 😊 🙏 stay happy and blessed
Enjoy your journey ❤❤ lam from sri lanka
Thank you!
Stunning scenic journey, nothing beats the train when it comes for sightseeing and landscape experience. ❤❤❤❤
Couldn't agree more!
Wonderful video again Adam.Having only travelled from Adelaide to Perth on the IP it was great to see the other part of the journey. 😊
Glad I could fill the missing gap in your journey. Cheers!
I agree with you. From Konnagar Hoogli WB INDIA ❤❤❤👌👍
I've been to Sydney and Gold Coast before but never been to other parts of Australia. I hope to travel across Australian outback someday. It's still in my bucket list.
You should. Cheers!
As an Indian am amazed 2 see A train in Australia named as Indian 😊 Pacific
😁
Learn some geography and your amazement ceases 😅
@@karljensen893 please explain the geography hidden behind its name
@@techessentials4105 the Indian Ocean is on the West Coast of Australia; the Pacific Ocean on the East Coast. And the train travels between them. 🤔

Congratulations for the World Cup.
It's an loving journey ❤
Thank you!
Wow, epic journey and a great video documenting it! Back in the day, I did Sydney to Adelaide when the Indian Pacific still had a seating coach - I think it would be good to reintroduce it as a regular passenger service on the route as well.
Thanks so much!
You have finally travelled on the Indian Pacific :)
I have. ☺️
Lovely 🥰
.... Thanks
Thank YOU! ☺️
Sounds like a great trip. Thanks for watching!
Brilliant video Adam, other UA-camrs just give us the tourist version, you've given us a real 'local' insight. Will we be seeing you elsewhere in the world?
Thanks so much Kevin! Yes, hoping to head overseas soon. 😊
i have never been on the Indian Pacific, but in 2013, I did manage to travel a return trip between Melbourne and Adelaide on the Overland.
A great journey, to say the least. Thanks for putting this together. But I also can’t help by wonder what other passengers think of someone walking through the cabins while shooting a video. I mean, do they simply shrug it off, ignore it…?
Thank you! Most people don’t bat an eyelid because a lot of other people were also taking photos and capturing video. 🤔
Very interesting journey loved it , didn't realize how large Australia is , and that's one just one piece WOW , thanks for sharing this video .
Happy to hear that - thank you! Yes, Australia is huge!
wow😮
Cheers!
Thank you for this video
My pleasure!
Good to know. Thanks!
Very well done with lots of information. Thanks mate.
Glad you liked it. Cheers!
That was wonderful! Thank you for taking us with you. I love your commentary that includes informative history of the rails in Australia.
Really glad to hear that. Thank you!
Awesome video - I am so excited to say that I will be traveling the same route in a single, at the end of May 2024. This has helped me to understand what to expect. I love train travel.
Thank you! That's exciting - hope you enjoy your trip as much as I did! 😀
I’m that roving musician! It was great to meet you on that trip Adam, great video you have put together 😊
Hey Adam. Oh cool - well there you go! Thanks so much! Hopefully bump into you on another train sometime. 😊
