I’m definitely looking forward to today’s video, but I feel you guys deserve another shout-out on your last video in Uganda. That video has a uniquely different feel than anything you’ve done before. Even though you’ve done plenty of wildlife excursions in the past, this location seems more raw and unpredictable than any other. Everything from the way you both handled yourselves up close with the wildlife, video capture and angles, to the editing of the video puts this video on par with any professional nature documentary. Really proud of how you guys keep evolving your channel! ❤️
47 countries--and counting. Keep doing everything. We especially love this because we lived in Scotland a few years ago Hubby worked in oil--in UK for 25 years. Scotland IS our favorite country. Thanks. We recognize all the whiskey!!!! Can’t get enough of this type of content video.
You guys should do a video where you are dropped in a random county for 5 days (or some amount of time) with no prior planning other than a flight home, and you have to navigate the city and have fun with a budget! It would be so entertaining and super helpful for people who accidentally end up in that situation. Love you been watching for so many years!
Kara as a Scottish person, I am in stitches at your accent! I’m not sure you got the Scottish accent right but your Mary Poppins impersonation is spot on 🤣 🏴
Omg thank you so much for including theo at the end of the video! You guys were so lovely and thank you for taking the time to come back to speak to us. Defo did scotland justice. Thank you again for being the nicest people!! From Jen and Theo xx
My niece got married in Scotland (she married a Scotsman) and they drank from a quaich cup. The reason this type of vessel is used is that is must be held by two hands. Historically, when welcoming a stranger from an opposing clan into your home, they would be offered a drink from the quaich. The host would drink first (to show the liquor was not poisoned) and then pass the vessel over. Two hands holding the quaich meant no hands were holding a weapon. It was a fun and interesting wedding. Love your videos.
What you did not explain was where the shape of the quaich came from. After a battle the victors would scoop out the contents of a severed head and use the top of the skull as a drinking vessel. The ears became the two handles. Enjoy!!

Update: The metal bowl is called a quaich, and also more recently, a love cup. The Kyle line is lovely, if you're back up that way make sure to visit Plockton it's a beautiful place and famous for a TV show (Hamish Macbeth). Yeah that dancing is ceilidh dancing! We learn it at school! Next time you;re doing a train journey here, make sure to do the West Highland Line - it's amazing, and you usually see deer as well!
As a Scots who lives in Edinburgh but hasn't done much traveling in Scotland thank you so much for this video! It makes me so happy and I live in such a beautiful country xx
Feeling overwhelmed with gratitude to you two for turning out episode length videos 3x a month. Truly something to look forward to every Saturday morning and such a happy part of my routine :) always getting inspiration for future trips
I was hoping for that Maharaja chef video to pop up at some point and I was not disappointed! 😂 Kara: "Can I book a cooking class with you " Chef: "No, ma'am." This is comedy gold 🤌🤌
I can’t tell you the joy that this video brings me! As a Scotsman living in Western Australia, I miss Scotland with all my heart. To see you enjoying what the country has to give and how amazing the people are, makes me incredibly proud to be a Scotsman! ❤️🏴
The toilet shot in the background at timestamp 24:14! At first, I thought Kara was lounging in the bathroom, and then I realized the door was open! 😂I love how competitive you guys are! My heart was beating fast watching the shoot-off! You guys are so supportive of each other in the end! ❤ The highland cow that was hanging from the rearview mirror...OMG!!! SO cute! I know you guys encourage us to travel to many countries but it is fun to experience these places through your eyes. What a wonderful trip. As always, thank you for taking us along.
Agreed!! I’m not the competitive type. But I do love to travel. These are my kind of videos. I love living vicariously thru them, hoping to experience atleast one of the things they’ve done one day.
You passed my house onboard the train , the cup you were gifted on board is ''The quaich, Scotland's cup of friendship, has been used through the centuries to offer a welcoming drink at clan gatherings, and other family occasions.'' welcome to Scotland 😊
My husband was Scottish and he would’ve absolutely would have wanted to go on this train. I don’t even drink and I would book it in a heartbeat. This was so much fun and I so appreciate you taking me along 💞
My mom use to work on the Royal Scotsman in 2002.She says “it was a lot of hard work with long hours but an amazing experience she will never forget”. She remembers most of the train experiences the guests can also enjoy today. The train is very much today like it was back then except some of the layout of the cars has changed such as the seating in the restaurant ,there use to be only twin beds in the rooms, and they added a spa car. We really enjoyed watching this video and my mon took us back in time telling us about her adventures onboard the Royal Scotsman..and Kara’s fake Scottish accent is ‘killing’ me😂
Kara and Nate is was so great being on this journey with you! And what a treat to have the entire trip captured for us! Amazing. Love you guys. -Kerry and Evan ❤
I was very excited to watch this video. I visited Scotland years ago and did a driving tour from the West Coast over to the East and towards some Highlands. Fell in love with the country. Such spectacular landscape and people. I’m from Canada and grew up in the North and some areas reminded me of different regions of our vast country. Love your videos. Don’t often comment as I’m not sure I would add much but just had to share how much I enjoyed this bit of nostalgia. As always, you’re both a delight to watch and I so appreciate how genuine and appreciative you are with everyone. All the best from Canada 🇨🇦
I'm a massive train fan and spotter and I want to say how lucky you are! It has been on my bucket list for ever to ride that Train!I'm glad you enjoyed it! You two always make me smile. To my best UA-camrs 3 years in a row! From Noah, England
hello..I'm from Bosnia..I've been watching your videos from day 1,and everytime I need relaxation, peace and time-out,I'm watching it over and over again..like a favorite movie..thank you,i grew up with you 😊❤
You two are the highlight of my weekend! First, watch the video on Saturday, then rewatch it on Sunday to catch anything missed and enjoy it all over again-because you can never watch a K&N video enough times! 🥰🥰
This was so fun to watch Kara and Nate. I really loved it. Idk how you guys make it so happen.....like most of your audience wouldn't ever get to do it in their lifetime; yet everyone loves watching it. Takes some genius.
That little fancy bowl is called a Quaich' comes from the Scottish Gaelic word 'cuach', meaning 'cup', and is often referred to as the 'cup of friendship' or 'loving cup. Kara’s accent was definitely going between cockney and Australian! 😂
Kara, you seem genuinely so happy in this video. I know you have gone through a lot and it seems like your self care plan seems to be working ❤❤❤ seeing you happy made me so happy watching 😊
I love Kara's excitement for literally everything ❤ it's so easy to forget about the inner child in us, she's always sparkling like a kid in a candy store 😀
I don’t think I’ve ever commented on a UA-cam video before, but now is the time! Every time I see your videos pop up I’m so excited. You have amazing personalities and each time I watch your videos I leave with more joy than when I began. I love the humility and sense of appreciation you both show. My husband often laughs about how alike Kara and I are, getting so excited about the little things in life that others often just take for granted. Thanks so much for all the time you invest into your content, you guys are awesome!
Very seriously adding this train trip to my bucket list. I lived in Edinburgh for a year in college and I seriously think Scotland is one of the most beautiful and welcoming places on earth. This train trip seemed so so so so fun.
Out of all the train journeys you two have taken, this one is my favorite. It looked like such genuine fun! And representing the Buchanan clan with your tartan was so perfect!
What a fun video! The scenery was so beautiful! Thank you for taking us along on all of your adventures. I've been watching you for several years now, since before your 100 country trips, and I always enjoy your adventures, the places you go, the people you meet and the food you eat, not to mention your kindness and good humour!
What an honor it was to journey with you on the Royal Scotsman Train, and now to see your beautifully edited video - a wonderful memento of a trip of a lifetime! I’m now enjoying your previous recordings and gathering inspiration for future adventures. Here’s to crossing paths again-safe travels!
Ahhh I'm living in Africa and my best friend here is from Scotland - I just introduced her to your videos and it could not have been better timing.. first you post a Uganda vlog and then Scotland!! Loving this
"You gotta carry the team" is one of the nicest compliments i have ever heard. As fabulous as Nate looks with his ancestral "plaids", no one would ever have to cover for Kara's charms. Everyone in the room is lucky to be in your guys presence. Dazzle 'em with kindness!
Can’t wait to watch this video bc I love Ireland and Scotland but also have to share this. Hoping Nate and Kara will see this. I was talking to my mom today about you guys and how much your videos have helped me have a positive outlook despite uncontrollable things going on. I didn’t say your name because she’s not a big UA-cam person, and I figured it didn’t matter anyways. I just shared how much your videos help my mindset. And then later this am, she was telling me about this couple she watches on Instagram and how I would really love watching them because they sound like the people I described earlier. I did some more questioning, and found out she was talking about you to. Neither of us knew that we’ve both been watching you two for years. My own mom haha crazy and I thought it was a sweet story to share. You’ve helped not just me but so many people and I thank you for that and wish you nothing but the best in the future ❤
A coincidence I never dreamt of. Kara and Nate with Stephanie from Chateau Diaries on the same trip!!!! Such a weird small world. But it seems it's not at the same time that they were on it too bad.
I can't believe it! We just finished watching that and I checked the cost because it was so wonderful! And I won't be doing what Stephanie and Philip did! But it sure was fun to watch And I'm sure this will be too.
Me too! Loved Stephanie and Philip’s vlog. Scotland is so beautiful. It’s so lovely to see the different perspectives! 😊 pity they weren’t on board at the same time….. could’ve been a blast! ❤
I feel so spoiled, so many good videos lately! Stretching part 2 of the Iceland trip into the next week gave space for you two but it has made the month filled with videos for us!
@@heysunnygirl2843 I knew I'd find some Lalanders here! I doubt they were on the same trip as Kara and Nate probably film way ahead of schedule rather than daily like Steph does.
Born and bread in Scotland and what a fantastic video! Loved Kara’s original Scottish accent then the following accents went a bit haywire lol. It’s also never too early for a good drink of whisky! Good to see you getting involved with your tartan Nate. It’s a shame, you didn’t get involved with the ceildh dancing at the end, it’s great fun. Thanks for the video!
I know you guys get a ton of comments and you probably won’t see mine, but I have been watching for some time and I just want to say how wonderful it is to see Kara feeling so much better. She was always cheery, but now she’s just glowing and it makes me happy to see that. Thanks for the video guys.
My husband and I were just in Scotland in May for our honeymoon visiting family for a few weeks. My grandparents lived there before moving to Canada and it definitely felt like home 💜 this was so cool to watch and see some familiar areas! I definitely want to do this the next time we are there!
Hi Kara and Nate! Just wanted to say that I've been a fan of your videos since I was studying to get my bachelor's degree. You guys inspired me to travel and get out of my comfy box. I've been working now (I'm a pediatric speech therapist) and traveling to other countries while attending concerts there. Thank you for being an inspiration and helping me shape my adulthood. This might not be a big thing to other people, but traveling is a privilege for me. Thank you Kara and Nate ❤
I’m from Scotland and was great to see many places I’ve visited on your trip. My wife and I had a good giggle at the accent though Kara! It ranged from Brummy (Birmingham, England), to Cockney (London), and did I even hear some Indian in there?! 🤣
Thank you for visiting our wee bit of Scotland. Can't believe you were in Keith, that's just up the road from me. Kara, I applaud you for attempting a Scottish accent, but that was awful 😄
I have been waiting for this one!! Forres is my home town, Benromach the distillery has lots of my old teachers and friends parents that work there. Excited to see who's in the video and taking you on the tour!
Not sure if y’all read these comments or not but I’ve never been jealous of a place you’ve ever been until now 😂. I’m just a couple years into my scotch whiskey journey and just discovered how amazing Benromach is. I literally just had a dram before I sat down to watch this video. So crazy. I can’t wait to watch the rest of this video and all your future ones. You guys rock and I hope you continue crushing it in life like you are now.
Besides the fun times and hysterical skeet shooting match, the scenery was beautiful and your camera work--especially over the last bridge--was stellar!
Every day is a great day with a new video. Kara and Nate, you guys are awesome, the best, and the funniest. Your videos are amazing and super fun. Love you guys and thanks for sharing.❤
What a beautiful trip. Scotland is one of my favorite places to travel, but my wife and I have always done it by car on our several trips there. I can now see that we missed something we would have genuinely enjoyed. Thank you so much for showing us this amazing experience.
Really enjoyed this little bit of Scotland! I was excited to see a Maclean made it into the video, that's my maiden name. I totally understand the family pride. 😁 I hope to go there some day!!
First time watching your channel! What an awesome experience. Another bucket list item for me. Looks like you both had a wonderful time. What a gorgeous train journey. 😊
I've just sat here watching this with a big smile on my face, seeing you loving life in Scotland. Such a joyful video, I hope you enjoyed as much as you seemed to ❤

Exactly, what a coincidence
I was just coming here to say this!! I wonder if they saw each other!!!!??
@@heysunnygirl2843 I knew I'd find some Lalanders here! I doubt they were on the same trip as Kara and Nate probably film way ahead of schedule rather than daily like Steph does.
Born and bread in Scotland and what a fantastic video! Loved Kara’s original Scottish accent then the following accents went a bit haywire lol.
It’s also never too early for a good drink of whisky!
Good to see you getting involved with your tartan Nate. It’s a shame, you didn’t get involved with the ceildh dancing at the end, it’s great fun. Thanks for the video!
Such an absolute beauty of a country. Definitely on my top 5.
Thanks for the ride guys. Loved all your train trips. Each one so unique. I bet everyone was sloshed on this one most of the time. 😅
Haha, just watched three days of a Royal Scotsman trip via Stephanie Jarvis’ vlog The Chateau Diaries.
I too just watch the Chateau Diaries and it was fun to see two different perspectives on the same journey.
Me too😊
I know you guys get a ton of comments and you probably won’t see mine, but I have been watching for some time and I just want to say how wonderful it is to see Kara feeling so much better. She was always cheery, but now she’s just glowing and it makes me happy to see that. Thanks for the video guys.
What a great trip you had!! Scotland is so beautiful!! My heritage is from Scotland 🏴. My 13th great grandfather was James IV King of Scotland
My husband and I were just in Scotland in May for our honeymoon visiting family for a few weeks. My grandparents lived there before moving to Canada and it definitely felt like home 💜 this was so cool to watch and see some familiar areas! I definitely want to do this the next time we are there!
❤❤❤ Sooo this means your going to be Kinging It!!! Yay us
Hi Kara and Nate!
My favorite couple! Thank you for taking us on another trip of pure enjoyment!
Wish I’d of known! I live in Elgin, and I’m such a big fan of you both! I hope you enjoyed exploring our amazing country! ‘Haste ye back’♥️
1:20 Bagpipes always remind me of Ross Geller 😂
Eeee eeee eeee EEEEE!!
@PrincessJamiG " Why is your family Scottish??" " Why is your family ROSS??" 😂
I loved this entire experience. Thank you so much! You need to do this again-more Scotland, please!
omg!! I can’t believe y’all are almost at 4 million subscribers!!! y’all are literally the best🩷🫶🏻
They’re at 4M! Subbed today
@ 🎉🎉
1:48. The best shot I’ve seen on all of your videos. Pure happiness!
Really enjoyed this video, Scotland has been on my travel list for a very long time.
Mine too.
I’m from Scotland and was great to see many places I’ve visited on your trip. My wife and I had a good giggle at the accent though Kara! It ranged from Brummy (Birmingham, England), to Cockney (London), and did I even hear some Indian in there?! 🤣
Love watching this! From Elgin myself and was so amazing seeing you guys film in Scotland, not going to lie, feels a little a dream haha!
Looking forward to to this one! Lovely to meet you both on the observation carriage as you arrived back in Edinburgh 🏴. Cheers.
Hey Neil! Thanks for coming to say hi! Hope you enjoy the vid 🥰
Besides the fun times and hysterical skeet shooting match, the scenery was beautiful and your camera work--especially over the last bridge--was stellar!
Couldn’t wait to start this one. I’ve got a huge cup of coffee and breakfast, ready to watch. Cheers!
Amazing tour, we are definitely going to do this next year .. thank you for the inspiration ❤
Love Saturday mornings with Kara and Nate. Love from the Midwest🥰
Good Oliver twist impressions
My Saturday just got 1000 times better!! Absolutely love this channel and you guys ❤ And we take no offence when Kara attempts the accent 😂
Glad you guys have FINALLY come to Scotland!😍
Every day is a great day with a new video. Kara and Nate, you guys are awesome, the best, and the funniest. Your videos are amazing and super fun. Love you guys and thanks for sharing.❤
What a beautiful trip. Scotland is one of my favorite places to travel, but my wife and I have always done it by car on our several trips there. I can now see that we missed something we would have genuinely enjoyed. Thank you so much for showing us this amazing experience.
it’s gonna be a good day when Kara and Nate posts! 🎉❤
Really enjoyed this little bit of Scotland! I was excited to see a Maclean made it into the video, that's my maiden name. I totally understand the family pride. 😁 I hope to go there some day!!
One Word: NICE.
Another peach from the GOATs of travel vlogs. 👏
First time watching your channel! What an awesome experience. Another bucket list item for me. Looks like you both had a wonderful time. What a gorgeous train journey. 😊
21:47 I was looking at the tartan on your tie, and suddenly realised “hey! That’s the Buchanan tartan!!”. My girls and I are Buchanans too.
Same!! I was so excited when I saw you guys wearing Buchanan plaid on Instagram a few weeks back! Family pride!!!
Kara’s Scottish accent might be my favorite thing I’ve heard in a long time. 😂 You guys are so fun!
Why are they not saying this is a $20,000+ plus trip for five days? Normally they discuss costs
I've just sat here watching this with a big smile on my face, seeing you loving life in Scotland. Such a joyful video, I hope you enjoyed as much as you seemed to ❤
