- I got this pelonis dehumidifier at Menards, brands name change there often so it could be something else by the time you look. I live in a split level home and live in the bottom half that is half underground and need a dehumidifier. This is what I went with for my place. Make sure you are getting the right pint size for the area you need! I also didn't mention that when I first moved here that I didn't know I needed a dehumidifier and all the cabinets had mold growing on the bottoms of the doors. yuk! dehumidifiers fix that problem!!
You can also check out dehumidifiers here on amazon: • Cheap Way to Fix Muffl...
Check out the Midea cube, has wifi and comes in different pint sizes/price: amzn.to/3kKBWkI

7/26/23 update, still working well. the filter needs changed weekly or at least biweekly. I had it start getting the floor wet, couldn't find where it was leaking so i sprayed it out in the sink and there was alot of lent/durt buildup so i'm guessing something got plugged. wasn't filling tank. working fine again after cleaning. - Навчання та стиль
Thanks, your video was more helpful than the instruction manual
Thank you!
nice unit
I just bought a house with a basement. I’ve never had a basement. Immediately unrecognized that faint odor of too much humidity (mildew). I bought this exact unit from Menards. I bought it because 1. It’s a large basement and they didn’t have a 60 and two, that pump feature. I routes the line to the floor drain for the HVAC Air handler. Works great. One complaint; it is NOT ultra quiet. It’s about as loud as a window AC unit with the turbo mode activated
I have used several now and they all seem to be about the same for noise. If you sleep in a room next to it, you will get used to it. Much better than having that mildew/mold smell or feeling sick from it! Mine stays on turbo spring - fall.
So even if the tank is not full and it shuts off periodically from time to time is that normal just bought it had it a day and a half and was curious as to why just shuts off like you said the manual doesn't tell much in that respect was getting ready to take it back to the store don't know if it's normal or not
I have this unit. It only pumps half the tank then stops. I then have to reseat the bucket or turn off and back on. Any idea how to stop that?
Mine runs and runs but DOESN'T ADD WATER TO THE TANK. I've cleaned it monthly and it is in a finished Basement.
The manual doesn't give me much info, Any help would be great. It about a year old and did work great. Thanks
My last one did the same, it was running, just not working. I think mine was due to not cleaning the filter and a dirty filter over worked it. I replaced it with this one and have been cleaning the filter more often. I couldnt get the other one to work again after cleaning it.
I just bought a Pelonis 50pt dehumidifier for my basement 3 days ago and its been essentially running nonstop ever since, even though I set it to 50% humidity.
Is this a mechanical defect? It just seems weird, and I anticipate a massive electrical bill
Ours runs the whole time during the summer months and im in iowa.
Just put one of these in our crawl space and hooked a garden hose up to it so it would drain into my sump hole, but it keeps filling the tank and nothing comes out of the hose? Any ideas as to getting this to drain from back hose and not fill tank? Thank You
I used a washer hose and sludge would build up in it and stop ot from draining. I purchased a actual house for it and havent had any issues. I also clean it out once a year now. It gets a build up and could be the issue?
Should I be concerned about the dents in the coils? And did you have issues with ice build up?
I have not had issues with this one with ice build up but i did with my last 1. Why i ended up getting this one due to the ice build up was happening within a day or two. Before it started doing that i had not cleaned it for a long time and when i noticed it needed cleaned the filter/screen was way full. After than it i had ice build up all the time. They have an auto defrost on them so if you are having issues with ice build up then there is already something wrong with the unit.
@@thatslumlordlife I bought a used dehumidifier and it seems to do fine with collecting moisture but worried about the bent coils and ice build up, should I not take a chance with it?
@@williamhern7999 I'm not an expert on these things but if the ice is building up it will keep from working right. You will probably have to keep turning it off to let it defrost and it may keep getting worse. It may not be worth your time to mess with it. I am going on 2 years now with this 1 and have not had it ice up. If you purchased it used, there may have been a reason they sold it and it's not defrosting on its own. If it was me, i'd get a new one. If you forget to defrost the current one you are taking the chance of it not working and having mold issues.
How it working so far for you? Thinking about getting one after 2 Frigidaire failed within 5 years.
Still working well, just have to keep that air filter cleaned! Ive been cleaning it at least once a month. For sure why my last dehumidifier stopped working!
@@thatslumlordlife thanks for replying quickly. And would you recommend extended warranty from Menards or from third party?
@@anly3892 you can, majority of stuff i buy goes bad after the warrenty so i never get them simce most things already have a 30 day from store and 1 year from manufacturer. Thats me though, not saying u shouldn't. Also most warrenties are for parts only and labor cost so much you are better off just replacing. ☹️
Thank you for the video. I just bought a Pelonis 40 pint dehumidifier at Menards. I set it up in my basement. I don’t have a floor drain so I run the hose to my sump pump pit. Question? What do you recommend? Running it on continuous or on the timer. Right now I have it on the timer. 6 on 6.5 off. Does it affect your energy bill much? My house is 100 years old and it is a little over 900 square foot. If you can help I would appreciate it.
I'm not an expert on these dehumidifiers but I leave mine on continuous, it only kicks off on it's own in winter months. I think having it on a timer would be fine too. Only think I would strongly recommend is check and change the filter at least once a month and clean it. They do get dirty and once the air is restricted they will over heat when they work to hard trying to pull air in. Where I live now I don't check the electric bill and we have 5 people staying here on the same bill (slit level home set up like a duplex) so it's very hard for us to really determine what is pulling electric and what isn't.
Thanks for getting back with me. This is the first place I have owned with a basement. I might switch it to continuous. I noticed it has a damp musty smell. I will keep an eye on my energy bill. That is why I bought Pelonis because it said it was a Energy Star. I’m assuming it is energy efficient. Thanks for reminding me about the filter. I watched your video before I made my purchase. You sold me on the Pelonis.
I like this dehumidifier so far. It seems to do a good job. Good price also. My only gripe is I wish they had a app and it was Wi-Fi compatible.
Thanks for the feed back
What happened to keeping the unit upright for 25 hours before turning on and keeping it 8 inches from anything in each direction? You have it right next to the wallm
Mine wasnt ever not upright. Yeah, i have one side that doesnt have anything going in or out by wall. Thats where i have a place for it. If you get one, make sure you follow everything! Lol
@@thatslumlordlife I do have one already, which is why I was trying to find out how the pump works.
Do you need a water hose for the continuous drain feature?
It doesnt come with a hose for the gravity drain. Comes with a small tube for using the pump.
do you have a video to set up the pump?
@@sigmawolf3837 i didnt use the pump. Should just push the white tube that came with in until it locks in then press the pump button.
Question, the white hose that locks in, what is it for?
I already put it in and it’s locked
Its for the pump! It will pump the water out if you need it pumped up a wall fpr example. If you dont want it or need it you can push it in, there is a little clip that can be held and the hose will release.
IM you on FB message for help.
Have a question do it supposed to blow out Heat or cold air
@@arthursimon2471 I have had several and they have all blown out warm air.
Any updates on this?
Mine is still working well! The filter needs cleaned every couple weeks.
I just bought this model and I hate it ,the drawer for the water is easy to get out a pain in the arse to put back in. It blows heat and you can switch humidity lower will blow cold for a Little bit then back to blowing heat hate that especially when it's already hot and muggy and I could not get the pump to work. I am going to watch some videos and if I am not doing it wrong it's going back to the store
All of them blow a little hot air. To get the pump to work there is a button that needs turned on and a light will show. I just use gravity flow.
Get to the point please
So why don’t mines blow cold air
Mine blows warm air.
That’s by design air conditioner blows cold air. It works opposite of an air conditioner.
It’s a dehumidifier not an AC. That’s how it evaporates the water from your living space.
NOW WE KNOW WHY YOUR OTHER DEHUMIDIFIER STOPPED WORKING. OMG YOU PUT THE NEW ONE UP AGAINST THE WALL. I THOUGHT YOU WERE GOING TO SHOW US HOW EVERYTHING WORKED INCLUDING THE HOSE THAT IT CAME WITH. SINCE YOU'RE NOT EVEN LOOKING AT THE INSTRUCTIONS, THIS ISNT HELPFUL. I HAVE STAGE 4 COPD AND I CAN'T JUST TAKE IT BACK.
This was an unboxing and installing video! Haha the last one i had stopped working due to not cleaning the filter! It needs to be cleaned often. The side i have close to the wall can be close to the wall because there isnt a vent there. But you should keep yours 8 inches away from the wall! 🤣
Sorry the video didn't help. There is a number for technical help if you have questions on the product.
@@thatslumlordlife CAN YOU MAKE A VIDEO THAT SHOWS THE SKINNY PLASTIC HOSE ACTUALLY WORKING? THE ONE IT COMES WITH! THAT WOULD BE GREAT. AND.. LET US KNOW WHICH BUTTONS MAKES THAT HAPPEN BECAUSE "PUMP" DOESN'T! LOL
YOU DON'T KNOW THAT A DEHUMIDIFIER IS SUPPOSED TO BE AT LEAST 8 INCHES AWAY FROM A WALL WHEN IT'S IN USE? YOURS IS UP AGAINST THE WALL. YOU NEED TO MOVE IT! 😮
It has been fine, it's the side with no vents. Still going good almost 2 years later! 🙂
Pelonis dehumidifiers are complete garbage
