Fixing Exhaust with Split Flange. Bolting Muffler to Header! DIY

My truck has been loud so I finally got under there to fix it. The muffler had came off the header. I use a split flange to bolt it back up! They also work great if you can't get a bolt out and need to use two split flanges to bolt them together.
Most auto part stores carry split flanges.

Good video, however you're attaching the exhaust pipe to the manifold, not the muffler. The muffler is at the rear of the truck, presumably downwind of the catalytic converter. Thanks for the informative video!

great video i will have to do this on the cat to catback flange because that bitch is rusted the fuck out and the exhaust bolts are ripping out the flange ...major L...

Hi I appreciate your video. Is it necessary to put a new donut gasket in there?

The gasket helps with the noise! Helps seals up the gap. If you want it as quite as you can get it you want to use a gasket. Even very small leaks can cause loud noise. If the old one is still usable it can be used.

@@thatslumlordlife Thanks for quick reply. I have a 2006 Dakota that needs attention in the same spot. The gasket is around 10 dollars so I will likely pick one up with the split flanges. It sounds a like old tractor right now🤣
