Size of the room won't affect the wear & tear because dehumidifiers are built to be ran 24/7. They even have a continuous feature so they can run the compressor 24/7 as well. This guy is just trying to sell you appliances people.
That's right, however if you have one that is too small for the room it's in, the compressor will run more often and for longer shortening the life of it. Also over time, the heat exchangers will block with dirt so reduce the capacity
What isn't mentioned is ceiling height. It would seem that cubic feet of a room would be much more accurate than square feet e.g. vaulted ceilings vs 8'.
Does a larger pint size only have the benefit of not needing to empty it as often? If so, is a small one just as good if you don’t mind emptying it more regularly?
I have both a small pint and large pint dehumidifier. I use the smaller one as a back up because I think that the larger one which is older is on its way out. When I use the larger one, I empty it once in a 24-30 hour period. I have to empty the smaller one 2-3 times daily and after a while it gets annoying. Also as stated in the video, the smaller ones will die quicker when running in a larger room.
Pint is not the tank capacity. A dehumidifier's pint capacity is the amount of moisture (in pints) that it is capable of removing from an area in a 24-hour period.
@@fridaynight1500 Thanks for that info...I always thought it meant the tank capacity because the more pints the dehumidifier has the larger the tank is.
For a basement, first, get it radon tested. If mitigation is needed, it will do a great job of dehumidification, to the point of the need for a dehumidifier to diminish greatly, or completely.
Fantastic video mate. Can a dehumidifier placed in the hallway work for multiple rooms simultaneously whose doors are open and connected to the hallway? Will it work that way? Assuming the four or five connected rooms are ranging from 8 to 16 sq.m and it can dehumidify multiple rooms at the same, how large a dehumidifier do I need?
I was totally blank because I had never used a humidifier before. And this video provided me all the information that I needed. These kinds of videos are the content that UA-cam should proud of.
Would be a very useful video, but… WTH is a pint? Do you mean it as in a pint of Guinness? But then why measure efficiency of a home appliance with servings of beer? 0_o
I cannot fault my British made Ebac dehumidifier it has a smart function so it comes on when the humidity reaches a certain point, works great for me and I would highly recommend it.
Solid list of suggestions and factors to consider, thank you very much! I liked the "bonus list" around 5:30.

Shouldn't we measure room Volume instead of Area?
No just square feet.

I have about 30 square feet in the problem room...

i WAS TOLD TO MEASURE CUBIC FEET NOT SQUARE FEET
You still have to measure the length x width x height to get the total square/cubic feet, It's the same thing just different terminology.
I don’t think dehumidifier size can be bad if you upsize.
Humidity makes my hair feel weird.
Thank you! Straight forward and to the point!
Good 411. Thank you. And you're not selling any specific brand
He's still selling the brands his company sells. Don't fall for it man.

A pint is a measurement, 1 pint is almost equal to .5 liters

*Damian Mee,* - C'mon brother.
Standard weights and measures, from Middle School.
Cup = 8oz
Pint = 2 cups (16oz).
You purchase milk, correct? Quart of milk = 2 pints (32oz)
Half gallon = 64oz (or two quarts).
Full gallon = 128oz *Mama Mia, Imma-gonna-slappa-you-wit-da-wet-spaghetti,

right! not everyone is using PINT )) to measure
