- In this video I go over a basic multitasking drill for starcraft 2 that can be used by beginners and pros, and something that I have actually professionally used.
I heard this story about Polt a long time ago and really don't know if it was true, or if he ever said it, but regardless it inspired me to make this drill, and I got use out of it.

With three probes, if two probe's field of visions are visible on your screen, you are obliged to move them together and create a joined control group, after which you have to give them three move commands together, then separate them back into two control groups and all that while they are moving... don't forget to constantly move the third probe while doing that. If you can do this, you should be able to manage control groups under pressure ingame too.

There's a few really good "Multitask Trainer" in the arcade section that basically force you to do that... but for some reasons, I always preferred this method, a more manual hands-on way. Also, being able to choose your map is very valuable.

what i found to be even more useful than this since it forces you to do ''different things'' at the same time is a variation of this with 4 hotkeys in any order.
1+2 Probes. do the exact same thing Probe does here.
3 a Probe in your base.
3 Nexus.
now while moving around Probe 1+2 constantly, the goal is to also have constant drone production on your nexus without queing them up and occasionaly build a new pylon with the 3rd probe.
Your 1+2 probes might be get to an idle position shortly while building a pylon but thats okay. the goal is to let them idle for as little as possible while still building workers one at a time.
also makes it a little more fun
Great advice. I think in a much older video I created I recommended something similar, and it was about the best way to learn build orders.
Any adjustments you make to this to make it more fun I reckon is a great thing.

Doing this drill has made me change my hotkey setup. I now use Razer Synsapse for my keyboard hotkeys and by using HyperShift (razer's special extra shift you can add) I can make it so i can switch to a control group's hotkey by only pressing the 1, 2, 3 or 4, in one click. Ive gotten up to 4 probes and can switch twice as fast now
when i hold down the hypershift modifier, my keyboard thinks when i press 1, 2, 3, or 4 that im pressing it twice. Super cool drill. Maybe ill try mass dropping with terran sometime :)

i dont get how i switch from
one drone to another ? which key do i press? 1, 2 etc dont work
However you want to control group them.
Ctrl + number to create the control group, double press the number to go to the control group
