- APM - there are a lot of myths about it. How important is it? Does higher APM really equal a better player? Or is random hotkey-spam with rapid fire actually a waste of time? Well, it is. But don't tell the Zergs!

28:12 probably just executed the ravager for treason against the viper. Seems fair, all though I believe in a fair trial.
But there was more than 1 bile responsible for killing that viper. It was a drumhead trial and he was the scapegoat.
@@SaulGoodman3D2049 true! Or perhaps it was squad wide punishment by “decimation” where 1 in 10 soldier is chosen by lottery and then beaten to death by his comrades. A very specific and historical thing…
I sometimes execute my workers for delaying my spawning pool by going to long distance mine on the backside of minerals on my 1st hatchery. I hate them so much for this.
@@ToTheNines87368 seeing as it was his fellow ravagers who targeted him down that seems the most likely to me.
Hamster is the best editor I've ever seen, even better than the editors of channels with millions of subscribers.
That Trade Info window alone is so underrated. The way you even calculated the cost of repairs during the fight....insane.
The fact that your name is an anagram of Harstem as well is just a cherry on top. (I thought you WERE Harstem for the longest time because of that fact.)
Chef's Kiss!
That being said, I also like the Protoss build order on 3:47. Opening up Overlord on Protoss is probably the most imba thing I have seen on this channel.
(I know it's a typo. The editing thus far is stellar)
@@thewatcherinthecloud perhaps Hamster knew that behind the scenes there was a toss overmind controlling the Z side of this battle. :-)
He has lot of time to improve, being locked in Harstem´s basement for years.
I LOVE the edit. Great work 👏
Ravager kills Viper, Ravager gets punished - Hard rules in Ludo's team
They only follow, when they fear you!
No one would ever abandon the best scene of the best strategy game... That's too crazy of an example at the end there
As a Zerg player, I often come into these ZvT videos thinking "Hey, they probably have a point" and then I see them ignoring 29 larvae with 2.5K minerals in the bank and then I realize they never had a point.
I agree that was dumb but he was almost doubling his opponents bases. It is pretty hard lose that
@@Name-ru1kt i manage. It's called "chucking a zerg"
I feel the same way when I watch my own replays.
I suspect he didn't want to make zerglings, as they would just die on a straight up engagement against blue-flame hellbats. You can see he spent his gas as it came. Had he set zerglings runbies, he'd have won, probably.
You can do this to yourself in every single game you lose too :D Sincerly, zerg
This is probably the best IIIODIS gameplay I've seen... or it was until the Zerg forgot to build units.
Relatable though ^^
Well. The zerg player doesn't have to macro well. He throws away all the advantage macro give him. He could probably say play some low drone aggression builds. I feel like that would be more enjoyable. Or play a different race.
I didn't mean go roast him, I just think that he has more of a career in ling bane early aggression with his apm.
Zerg can rebuild in 2 seconds so usually it shouldn't matter.
He is probably a Warcraft 3 player that never understood the reason for not maxing out, he just knew pros do it and know thinks its better for economy
The reason there was persistently 9 unused larvae is because Ludo had a hatchery that they hadn't hotkeyed with the others, so they must have been training units from all hatches except one....
I do that all the time haha I feel so mad when i realize
This has happened before on Iodis too.
omfg
@@sakesaurusyeh its a forgivable and yet massive mistake. Especially towards the late game when bases start going down u rebuild them forget to hotkey it coz theres so much going on, but you desperately need the larva.
I actually spat my food out during the Viper commentary. Well done Captain.
absolutely amazing lmao
Ludo was clearly saving larva and resources so he could make 10 more emergency corrupters if he saw a viking
He was investing in his zerg cabal future, first step to successful zerg = larvae.
5:30 Actually, using your forehead to absorb the impact of a punch and actually hurt the knuckles of your opponent used to be a common and effective strategy in the days of bareknuckle boxing (that s why the stances where wider and hands lower back in the day, punching the face was risky), since the bones from the craneum are much harder than those of the hand. Just saying
Regardless I wouldn’t recommend it lol.

dang harstem the production quality is really improved with this split screen and animated editor's note - LPL cameo etc. I love this series good job man
My gosh hamster, the seamless camera-swap at 19:21, you really are the best
This video was weird to me because my tag is Ludo is as well. And as a 4k NA Zerg player, I felt like Harstem was talking to me the whole time.
At 17:27 Harstem is paraphrasing strategies from the Art of War. So true.. so true..
Wow, not building zergling is not thing i would have bet to see in my lifetime span
your talking about Halo Wars2. Best strategy game ever made, 0 support, 0 advertisement, swept under the rug and hidden forever
Bro even the original! My brother and I loved playing Halo Wars, it was the only strategy game other than Civ V I ever got to play with him because he doesn't normally like strategy games. Halo Wars was so good, man. ;_;
If you get ahead like that in the late game, just build like 50 lings in a very short period of time, and send them in. They kill buildings in 2 seconds.
Indeed, Zerglings are incredibly strong because they can take a lead and capitalize on it faster then any other unit in the game... They build fast, move fast and kill buildings in no time at all once you get upgrades and adrenal glands...
See the only issue with that is. blue flame hellbats ONE SHOT
4 hellbats at a mineral line can hold off an infinate number of zerglings.
@@Name-ru1kt But zerglings build faster and can get there faster...
@@Kholdaimon Fully upgraded zerglings are almost as good as marines. Their attack speed upgrade is crazy good.
The cameo by LockPickingLawyer got a good chuckle out of me - well played, editor!
3:51 build order protoss!!
Ludo had won the game on 3 separate occasions! It was so hard to watch him throw the game by not building unit and by building the wrong units. Perfect commentary as always!

"This game is over, as long as we don't take the worlds worst fight in the next few minutes..." ... oh my sweet summer child. XD
The trade info window that comes up after fights, it would be nice if there was an additional up/down arrow to point to the side it favours. I find that's a better visual indication for me. Even though you have negative & red to show a loss, my brain just had a hard time parsing that information quickly without pausing the video.
Was tempted to suggest a vertical "progress-bar"-style (similar to the horizontal ones in the units lost/workers lost panel) to be placed to the left or right of that window, but then again, it's tricky to have it represent "less losses" as a win. :-s
Match specific MMR would reduce smurfing by like 50% on the ladder. Half the time when I’m playing a smurf its someone who hates playing their mirror matchup and instantly leaves those games, but then has an 80%+ win rate in the matchups they like. Match specific MMR would completely fix that. Great idea.
1:50 It's always gonna be good when Harstem sees the opponent and says: I know this guy.

the blizzard comparison... amazing lol
I loved the editors notes
I never thought id get so much pleasure from hearing someone not from the UK say the line "pi$$ off"...but you nailed it Harstem. Defo need to hear you say that more 🤣
I feel like this was a much better game than what we usually see, in terms of fights being mostly close and not just losing off of one bad engagement

Btw, your editor is top no5ch with extra info, and funny as hell.
It's been awhile since I watched this series, you've really upped the production value. Looks really nice.
This was a great episode, both the casting and the game itself.
As a terran mech player myself, I enjoyed this episode beyond human imagination. And don't tell anyone, but mech below Diamond is a bit imba... 😊
I'm low diamond and struggle with mech :)
Swarm hosts are pretty effective against mech. The only thing they are effective against.
Swarm hosts could kill Planetary in a couple of seconds without any losses and they could force terran to attack in a bad position in order to stop losing units for free.
@@Sizt i believe that also hydra viper lurker is good against mech
@@marcoCampanella is it as good as lowkos hydra corruptor tho
@@colinlee2904dont forget the lurkers
The zerg is actually good, he just stayed for too long on the same army composition and fought terrible fights while not spending his money "correctly". Producing more broodlords, a zergling runby, or teching into ultralisks would have won him the game multiple times.
Good? But bad?
Boy what?
As a Mechanical Terran player, I agree with your analysis! He should have droned up faster, disengage faster from fights, taken the forward bases, and the terran would have been economically broken.
"he's good... except for being bad"
@@marcoCampanella so, pretty much what Harstem said 😄
the intern lost the key to the server room🤣🤣
You grow on me @Harstem
I really hated your click bait titles but this was genuinely funny. Thanks for the content.
To be totally fair. And as someone who plays Terran and Zerg. I can hands down say my Zerg is cleaner than my Terran by MILES. And my Mmr is the same(ish) for both races. But I know with Terran if I play even moderately good (just doing what I’m supposed to) I have a good chance of winning. On Zerg you can do EVERYTHING perfect for 20 min and lose to a 3 base Terran because he turtles with an impenetrable base of walls and turrets. makes an army you literally can’t kill without 600 apm and 4x the mental effort. You are left with 2 options. Throw units and hope they have open spots in the defense. OR you sit back and force yourself to let the Terran get to endgame (Zerg players know this is a trap).
I think my point is. The zerg can be in the position that ANY other race would consider a won game and still get toasted. Generally by a bad widow mine or ONE bad fight out of 10
terran 20 minutes 3 base is basically mined out and if you stop letting him to take 4rd everytime by using changelings to scout 24.7 it shouldnt even be an issue unless u are below diamond or dia2. Problem is you because you don't make correct units. VS mech you need vipers, there is no way around it unless you do perfect engagements and deny 4th and 5th nonstop whlile trading agressive and good way.
I actually can use an advice of how to beat Mech Terran as Bio Terran...
You just need to have 500 apm and deny all of their bases past the natural. Easy.
20:02 idk, in highschool, our parties lasted all night into the morning.
couple of the students parents were mega wealthy and had huge real estates and they would lock both entrance / exit gates if you were gonna be drinking and staying
even baked us pot brownies and huge meals. good times... good times..
so needless to say i was done partying after highschool and a few college parties that i went to weren't nearly as good or interesting..
jocks were dialed up to 1000 and really annoying. the stoner crowd practically didn't exist, it turned into like the ritalin or adderal people who seemed zonked out of their minds
and since me and my boy nick never lost beer post we had to be kicked off the table even though house rules were "play til you lose."
so yeah i was done with parties after that
All this time Fear was long distance mining the minerals in the middle with an army of SCVs and mules, while Ludo was move commanding his army into planetary to the right side.
To be fair, building any amount of zerglings vs blue flame hellbats is just completely pointless. He would have to runby non-PF base locations with them and there were none except for the nat. Building 80 lings vs 5 hellbats isn't even a meatshield because the hellbats die waddling forward so against the lings they die roasting 2k minerals instead.
The amount of thors and tanks that died to biles unnecessarily is hairpulling in this game, wow. Although i know the frustration zerg feels in these games, it feels like you can't build any units that are good against this composition while T just needs to a-move and occasionally siege or unsiege some tanks.
Clearly the best thumbnail I've ever seen in a while
27:30 is golden
Hampster outdid himself with the editing on this one.
I was expecting hamster to provide a breakdown for the 25:00 fight and it seems to have taken so long that I'm not sure when the counter started. Maybe there should be a "loading indicator" for the period over which the stats will be recorded?
Ludo got fed those workers he didn't even have to break the wall. bro just said here you go that was a horrible move by fear.
That fourth base was very creative, actually!
Lurkers would've made a lot of difference for this game. If you play against slow mech go for lots of lurkers, few corruptors and 4-6 vipers for the pull and parasitic bombs.
The production value is seriously impressive.
I mean it's well known that especially Toss get 500 free MMR due to playing toss, Terran 250 and Zerg will only be good if you're really good.
I must ask has anyone who submitted for this series gotten an IMBA verdict.
yes, Lowko
the amount of repairs the terren was doing at MASTERS is astounding.
like sure sometimes there is value in doing some repairs.
BUT NOT EVERYTHING NEEDS TO BE AT FULL HEALTH
Coming to this video right after a Florencio file felt like nothing changed watching Fear
it reads 'build order protess' at about 3:55 when the zerg build order is shown
5:15 Well, to be fair in some cases it IS a counter, since it gives less time for a fist to speed up
If you have 600 apm and you lose to a guy with 100 apm you know for sure that 90% of your actions per minute are garbage
how did that bile not damage the tank at 5:16 though????
Well done Hamster! The new layout looks great, and your work is stellar as always!
Thanks, glad you guys enjoy it ^^
@@hamster_designs Bro your editing is actually top tier. Genuinely elevates the experience well done mate.
@@hamster_designs Just one thing, noticed by the keen eye of Atruval in another comment thread in here: at 3:47 would've been interesting to see a focus screen on that 'toss Overlord. ;-)
But overall, i really enjoyed all them nice touches you added throughout. 👍
18:50 It's like wearing your shoes but forgetting you have no pants on.
22:05 you're confused because it is a terrible counterattack. It is, but because Ludo likes to make sure he doesn't leave any of his units alive for more than 5 minutes, he has no units to defend with.
Calling it now before the complaint form is finished: he probably ran his army into tanks repeatedly.
been watching alot of videos lately, keep up the good work!
Against mech, I'm always tempted to do mass spore push with lurkers. You either go immobile yourself, or just do ling run-bys. The point about taking your opponent's base is key. In a drawn out game, you need to tax your opponent's economy.
Also, viper control. Heard of it.
When i play vipers i like to f2 a click behind there army and then watch in utter panic as they drive off into the distance to die for free.
"buld order protoss" for our zerg player KEKW @harstem
jeyy, a new Iodis. Just on time
4:10 If you had included everyone who has Fear in their name, like Feardragon, then this list probably would've gone on for the entire video.
28:25 blood for the blood god
these people are masters? ive always been ashamed of being diamond, but this makes me want to play again so i can learn to play.. again.
Harstem, you kept saying he wasnt spending his money, but he had no gas! Cant make ling and roach against thor tank hellbat
I love the picture of the sloth at the start.
"It's not going to be blizzard because the intern lost the key to the server room" had me rolling
ON this map, zerg can do some interesting things. early nydus and take the gold block on their side.. and mine right away, put a nydus down in that area. SO if you are caught you can trasnfer your drones... to naother hatchery that is ready... called cheap devious mining, where you tend to only lose like 400/100, save teh drones and can be immedaitely mining another enemy resource location. lol
The real imba is that zergs dont get a select all larva Hotkey (whoich shows you the number of larva). Protos even gets one for all warpgates. Dont deny it captain!
yes they do, but you have to press the button in one long key press to make units, which is difficult in intensive fight and usually who macros and finds time to do that wins in trade if he macros eco behind it aswell.
@@eestlane24h But this only applies when you have all hatcheries hotkeyed. Toss dont have to hotkey their warpgates.
@@DB-ft4cp They don't have to, but they will because otherwise they lose. Name me a player above diamond who doesn't hotkey into control group their warpgates lol. Only thing indeed what should be removed is F "keys", i still don't know how it's used because i play sc2 like i play WOL but what i'v seen they can insta "spam" warp units and same with abilities aswell.
I mean I still think Mech at lower levels is just way easier to play correctly than other strategies (I'm terran btw) but my guy would have won this game 42 times if he used his larvas and knew how to flank with his zerglings. Hell just dont let them go die to hellions alone before your roachers/ravagers come. I kinda feel why he's frustrated cause he's mechanically better but too many basic mistakes imho.
Keep it up the great production value. Now this is content worth sharing!
Nice lpl reference hamster
:)
So I find it fun to try and do the least amount of spamming possible and I get people so mad when they are sitting at like 450 apm and I usually hover around 75 unless I’m fighting XD i don’t know but I find it a fun challenge
32:28 the SC2 reference hurt :(
Is there a cell shading skin for Terran or am I delusional? Their units look kinda like from comics here, with bright colors and black outline.
I thought the same thing...
Yeah, it seems like a match from Borderlands :D
I used to be that terran that crushed most Z with a really good BC Hellbat all in, but TvT and TvP held my MMR down a lot. Nice video captain.
That´s because Mech vs Zerg is imbalanced.
I feel like the turtle mech player has the easier report to write for this show. "When I open turtle mech, all zerg has to do is hold down D and I will lose." Harstem would simply advise "don't open turtle mech".
