Right about this time, I worked at a dinner theater in Ohio while attending college. Ms Vance was the star of the dinner show (can't remember the name of the production). She was always ready early before any performance started, and we always had a lull just after setup when the guests arrived and were seated, so she scooted back to the kitchen area by the coffee machine where we waited. She introduced herself to all the kitchen staff, learned all of our names and was just a delight to talk with while she had, of course, a cup of coffee with us! We teased her that it wasn't Maxwell House, just a wholesale restaurant brand that was made by the gallons. It was good coffee, though. Since most of us were college or high school students, she encouraged us to complete our educations. Always smiling, in a bright, good mood and a quick laugh, just a wonderful woman!
What absolutely fabulous women! Outspoken, confident and funny. Notice the clear and direct style of talking. No PC needed. Just plain style. So refreshing. Glad we have this on tape.
Viv was JUST as talented as Lucille. LOVE Vivian. The whole cast of I Love Lucy was exceptional, Desi being far under-rated for the exceptional talent that he also was.
Sherry Britton was a stunning looking lady, she had a air of Hedy lamarr about her..I miss Joan so , how we needed her humor so bad this past year 2020 ..what a relief she would have been. RIP joan you are truly missed
There was a time when Joan Rivers had to sleep in her car in Greenwich Village, borrow a friend's apartment to wash and change and then rush off to do yet another show for a few lousy bucks. She was a fighter.
Thanks soooo much. I remember watching this episode. I miss Joan and Viv so much.....Look how beautiful Joan is before plastic surgery. She still was gorgeous after plastic surgery with and without makeup until her untimely death. Also her legs are to die for......WE LOVE AND MISS YOU JOAN WHEREVER YOU ARE!
@@HopefulInterventions By your logic all people need to be put out to pasture after 80?! Her death was untimely, because her death was accidental at the hands of incompetent doctors who panicked and waited to call an ambulance when they performed an unscheduled procedure that went wrong. Joan was still a very active and healthy woman and did not die due to old age. It was not her time...her death could've been prevented! My grandmother just turned 95 and losing her would be just as painful now as it would be at 105....living a long life doesn't make their exit any less painful or important! Unfortunately too many people nowadays don't value our elderly as they should, but see them as a burden or nuisance...
I used to watch this show in the morning, I guess it was syndicated. People have forgotten about it. Including Joan. She probably developed her complex because she has a strong, buxom body, except for the bosom, and a narrow but glamorous face, very distinctive look she should have kept.
It was indeed a syndicated show, and a quite good one. WNBC-TV ran it weekday mornings originally in 1968-1969. I don't know how many other stations did.
I agree with you Parrot! Joan always made fun of herself but most of her life she had great figure and slimmer legs than she said she had. Of course that was part of her self deprecating act and she was always hilarious!! Still miss her and when in a down mood put one of her dvds in and quickly get out of it!!
Sherry Britton escaped a violent marriage at the age of 15 by stripping. It's really sad that she could only emancipate herself by selling her innocence, but when she died in 2008 she was worth millions.
I noticed something that was on Joan Rivers arm I don't know if it was a Band-Aid or what it was but it looked kind of big even maybe a lump, at the end when she was sitting down and shaking Vivian's hand you could really see it up at the shoulder, just curious what that was?
It really shows you how people had no clue how to react to a female comedian during that time period especially one that spoke about things women were not supposed to.
Thanks once again Chronic Nostalgia. A talk show host, a stripper, and an old hoofer walk into a bar... Can you imagine nowadays having such a diverse line-up on a talk show? I miss those times when people could accept politically-incorrct and quirky humour without wanting to cancel everything, or even worse as we've recently seen on the Oscars, physically assaulting those with whom we disagree, Can you imagine Cher showing up in a Native American head-dress nowadays? The world has lost it's sense of humour, (Canadian spelling), along with it's mind!
What a silly topic. Joan’s book from right after Edgar’s suicide “Still Talking” led me here. She and Vivian must have been friendly. I remember she was on a few of these before she died suddenly
When I was a kid in the late 1960s every 6 months I had to go into the city for my eye doctor's appointment and my mother opened the bureau drawer in the living room to take out her white gloves when we went into the city together.
What kinda Mandella Effect alternative reality shit is this? I never knew Joan had a talk show in the late 60s...EVER. And I know my TV! This looks like daytime competition for Mike Douglas. Somebody goofed! Why wasn't Johnny and I informed about this before now? It's too late for Johnny, but I'm upset FOR him. They never mentioned this in any biop about Joan and I've seen at least a couple.
That Show is one of the most bizarre shows of the late 60s. Joan Rivers is completely out of place doing a daytime show, especially back then. The audience in this episode is pretty good, most of the shows they sit there uncomfortably while Joan Rivers tells hilarious jokes.
@@redwingfan9393 , you call the show bizarre, hilarious, out of place. What is your opinion? I think Rivers became bizarre with age, but she had some good moments earlier.

Wow I would have loved to meet Vivian… always loved Ethel and always felt like she was the most relatable character on the show.
So nice to hear! Always loved Viv and I remember those Maxwell House commercials where she played a waitress!💗
So you're at least 72?

Thats true! No one talks like this anymore :( nothing but "up talk" and "vocal fry" :(
No PC needed? Vivian could barely utter the word "pasty".😂
rest in peace Joan and Vivian they will always be missed and loved
Two absolute legends!! Just finished a Viv biography, I appreciate her more than I ever do now. And Joan...i can never get enough of!

wow just listening to them chatting makes me so happy! what awesome people
This was when tv was worth watching! Joan and Vivienne! Miss these icons!
Vivian would have been 58 or 59 here and I think that she looks wonderful!
😍😍🥰
Viv was a beauty even into her later years I agree
I really enjoyed this. No politics, no transgender, gay arguments. Just good old fashioned entertainment.
I absolutely adore Vivian Vance!
I always loved ETHEL also....
Vivian Vance is AWESOME!
My cousin is Sherry Britton, all three women were incredible talent....
Is she still alive??
Well Vivian anyway...
There was a time when Joan Rivers had to sleep in her car in Greenwich Village, borrow a friend's apartment to wash and change and then rush off to do yet another show for a few lousy bucks. She was a fighter.
The announcer on this show was Jim Perry who went on to host Card Sharks and Sale Of The Century.
Love Vivian Vance!!!
At 13:57 I love the crooked ad for the show's tickets, lol! I did enjoy the whole thing very much, thank you!
Yeah, those were transparent overlays (before digital graphics) and they didn't always get them aligned perfectly...lol
Great to see Vivian’s cheeky side. You can see Joan Rivers lent a lot of her style to our drag queens performing out there. Miss her so.
I never knew Joan Rivers had a show like this!
Love Vivian ♥️
Joan was always beautiful but especially beautiful here gorgeous women
amazing show. I always love Joan. Vivian is funny.

I agree with you. But I can’t say her death was untimely. She was 81 years old and that’s considered pretty long life for many people.
You couldn't be more right about Joan's legs. I love seeing her in a mini. Never saw her in anything this short before. What a great clip!

Best line from Vivian "Let's not get our hair caught in our Pasties", say that real fast 3 times. 😂
Sherry was gorgeous in her youth and still looked great here at 50 yo...Would have been even better with the commercials...
Vivian Vance strip teasing.... I can die happy 😂😂😂
she was such an original delight, yes!
Joan was so cute when she was young and surgery free.
Vivian Vance looked great here
This was really cute. Three talented women.

Hit the nail right on the head. We take ourselves much too seriously nowadays. It's a shame.

Even strippers had class back then
where is Loanne Vance?
It's the pants that ate fred Metz! Run Ethel run!
Lmfao they did get higher every season didn't they?
Did anyone notice that all three women are wearing gloves? Such class at that time...
They came out without gloves. They put them on as props for their funny strip routine.
When I was a kid in the late 1960s every 6 months I had to go into the city for my eye doctor's appointment and my mother opened the bureau drawer in the living room to take out her white gloves when we went into the city together.
was this show syndicated nation wide ? I don't remember seeing it
That must have been a fun time to be in show business. No cameras. Live band. An audience. No F bombs from the women.
VIVIAN IS TOO LEGENDARY TO BE ON THIS DITTY OF A SHOW
this is surreal 😂
All of my illusions are shattered.😊😊😊
What was La VANCE appearing on Broadway in? Joan was always ahead of her time comedically. Odd guest pairing of a stripper and La VANCE!!!!

Sherry Britton and actress Bebe Neuwirth look very similar.
