I really don't know why people hate on the top/bottom bezels of this phone so much. They don't bother me at all. What people should be hating are the on-screen navigation buttons, which take up a quarter-inch of screen real estate. With a bottom bezel that big, the navigation keys should be in the bezel.
I returned my Iphone x yesterday and bought this today. What a difference! This is such a good phone. Screen layout, trusted places, Google assistant, fast fingerprint that actually unlocks and opens the phone, perfect size in the hand, app drawer, no icons all over the home screen, daily wallpappers, temperature on the home screen, the list goes on and on.....
Scott Spooner, Seriously? u switched from iPhone X? I can understand you a bit now, cause im switching from iPhone 7 to Pixel 2, but iPhone X is flagship. Why did u do that? Asking because wanna buy iPhone X to my wife, she uses now iPhone 7 Plus
Google. Just cant do much better than a Google phone. I use everything Google. The assistant is so much better than Siri in the car. Google Maps is so much better than Apple maps. She would also get free photo and video storage with Google so you wouldnt have to buy a phone with 256 gb of storage space. Pixel 2 is a lot of phone for only $650.00 and its on sale at Verizon right now for even less...
Me too I don't like the 8plus is too big for my hands and the iphone 8 small has nothing new they left this phone in the water and the new iphone x is just too spensive I'm going with the pixel 2 just order mines
I think it's awesome. I am coming from a Nexus 6P that had battery issues, but I can UA-cam all day and have 30-40% left when it's time to go to bed. I feel confident that even if I use it heavily, there is more than enough battery to last one full day. I don't have any hard numbers to back up my claim, but I think the battery life is great. The camera is the best part. It's fast and takes great pictures
Yeah I leave home at 6am and am out all day and never charge it or bother with power bank and have bluetooth rockin with LTE and I get home with 40%+ amazing
Phones should be utilitarian, which is exactly what the pixel 2 is. Other flagship devices may be nice in hardware but they are sacrificing convenience and simplicity. I personally like a little bit bezel because I often need space to grip the phone without pressing anything.
My HTC one m9 has smaller bezels and a very similar front set up, 5" screen and front facing speakers so yes the bezels could be smaller. Still buying the pixel 2 though finally another flagship with a 5" screen the perfect size for a screen imo
*Here are all the reasons to switch from Apple* Google assistant > Siri, all day everyday. It actually unlocks the phone by your voice and does everything faster. You can also squeeze to activate it which comes in handy. Default Apps on Apple - This is a major one. You cannot assign Google Maps, for instance, as your default application. Apple will keep forcing you to download their maps. Gboard > Apple's keyboard - Nothing can beat google's swipe key on Androids. I know Apple allowed third party keyboards but the experience isn't the same and none of those work as they should. CAMERAS Most of the reviews say the cameras are close in quality, which is absolutely not true. Pixel 2 murders iPhone X in terms of front/back camera quality. The pictures come out CONSISTENTLY well and are on par with some of the SLRs out there. Oreo > IOS 11 Oreo is way smoother than IOS 11. Notification center on IOS sucks. You can torrent, use PdaNet and do whatever the hack you want on your device. Fingerpring Scanner > Face ID It's just slow, the face ID. You first need to look at it and once it recognizes your face you swipe up. What? Google has one of the fastest fingerprint scanners out there. PRICE iPhone X costs $1000 without taxes, and the regular Pixel 2 is $650. Google and Verizon offer additional promo and financing options.
Great detailed review showing off its features! Been thinking about getting this or the S8, this video may have persuaded me to get this. And I’m switching from a iPhone 7. Great video!
I got the Pixel 2 XL and returned it a week later because of issues with the screen. Traded it for the Pixel 2 and i love it. Ya its smaller but to me the colors and screen looks way sharper than the XL. By far one of the best smartphones ive ever had! Great Video
I personally love the design of the phone. It's much better than having some polished pearl like many other phones. The outer coating provides grip, like some old plastic phones, and the small size allows it to easily fit in my hand, and my pocket. The dual stereo speakers are also amazing beating out almost any other phone speaker. I would personally rather have those than a built in headphone jack.
Its soooo strange to me how tech reviewers talk about design as if their opinions are fact/the opinions of the general tech obsessed community are facts...I love the look of the pixel, why do we need all phones to have the same design on the same timeline?
I dont really care about the display..all i care is the camera and the battery life!! I believe the camera is just perfect and so is the battery life although its not the best..but i dont know which one should i buy..mate 10 pro or pixel 2;! :/
That's a tossup. Mate 10 Pro if the battery is more important and Pixel 2 if the camera is. The Pixel 2's battery life isn't amazing, but it's more than enough for day-to-day sure.
Mate 10 pro will be a better option. The camera has been upgraded and in the long run, you will learn to appreciate all the other features that the 10 pro has. Battery life is good too.
I was on the fence between the 2 and 2xl. Both on amazon renewed for $100 and $150. I had the s8 s9plus then the note 10. I was so tired of all the false touches and the phone being a slippery fish. Last week I got a message from find my Samsung at 1am. After reading several tweets I was no alone. I then stumbled upon a article talking about why phones have the best security. Pixels apparently have the best security when it comes to hacking even over the iPhone iOS. The security researcher advised to stop buying Samsung phones. He said Samsung in the past pushed fake updates to phones. Your review convinced me I was buying the correct pixel for now. I don’t like the price for the 4 now. I will wait and see what the 5 has to offer and perhaps pickup a cheap used 3 or 4 next year.
Got the Pixel 2 on Tuesday & Love It ✓✓✓ Awesome Sound Quality (which is probably due to the lack of the jack) ~ Fabulous Camera and comes with an Adapter for Your Headphones ★★★
i currently use the iPhone 7. These bezels don’t seem too bad, but i think it may be time for me to go big, as sizes of phones will only increase with time.
I actually liked the feel of the LG G5. The difference is that the G5's metal body was a lot thinner, making feel lighter than similar devices. Some translated that into a "cheap" build.
To be fair a lot of folks knock that choice on this phone as well. There's no consensus but some have suggested to just go head and make it premium polycarbonate which would allow for wireless charging. I think it would affect rigidity and handling to so do but what is there has it's advantages and disadvantages.
PM7Gaming They were right, the finish on the LG G5 is bad, they used the leftover plastic paint from that abject failure and put it on the Pixel... Very disappointing..
why one? The Pixel 2 or the HTC U11? With the new HTC U11+ announcement today, there may be another shakeup. HTC may win back the crown from Google for best smartphone camera, but we'll have to wait and see.
Htc u11 is still a better option considering the design and price of the phone. U11 plus is rumored to be coming on Nov 2. If the price is right. Is there a reason to buy this phone over the u11 plus??
Depends on your Carrier. On AT&T HTC phones are not getting access to advanced calling features such as VOLTE or WiFi Calling. Would own a U11 by now if the case had been otherwise. Also if you're really into cameras the system code is different for Pixel from any other in regards to the handling of the always on HDR+ and there is a SOC Visual Core chip that will be activated that will allow for yet unknown features for the camera. Don't think you can go wrong either way if you're a T-Mobile/Mint Sim/Project Fi user.
We don't know the full story on the HTC U11 Plus yet, but if you're choosing between the Pixel 2 and the HTC U11, the difference comes down to battery life (U11 wins), camera (Pixel 2 wins), design (glass back versus metal) and size. Both are good, you just have to choose which one is right for you. Personally, the Pixel 2 has a slight advantage since it has front-facing speakers - something U11 should have had.
I have no idea what people are looking for when it comes to "design." I understand the bezels thing, but how many people actually care what the back of their phone looks like?
I like t pixel 2 XL more than pixel 2,seen like t pixel 2 XL had a major flaws now, make me think twice.. should I get t pixel 2 XL now? Can u help me..
avatariors12345 I went from 6+ to pixel 2. It's bigger than I thought.(can't imagine myself with the XL) Definitely worth the upgrade to pixel 2 and switch to android.
well,I'm gonna order one for myself probably i will go on pixel 2 over the XL,(because of the screen issue) i think we should wait anther year, when all google phones will make HTC instead of LG
I bought the XL but I wasn't happy about paying 1000 for a fun with such a bad display... My pixel 2 in the other hand is. About the same experience better screen and better prices... I'm loving it
first off I have to say I love your review. it was just the information people are looking for. to the point without the BS I think this phone is a little late in the game this should have been last year's model. with that being said it is nice having a smaller phone I mean how many people really want to to lug around a note 8 all day I feel like google was trying to keep an Apple feel to the phone and it seemed like there thinking was..if Apple can do it and have people pay $650 why can't we... I get that but Apple people are used to paying $650 for 3 year old technology. Android uses are looking for cutting edge. it is a good phone and I would buy one if I didn't have the LG V30 Samsung s8 or a one plus.
Been researching the phone market for weeks, at this time it seems like a compromise I’ll have to make for too Android optimisations and experience. Having a spare dongle in a bag seems to solve that issue for wired users.
Excellent review. Thanks. I think your review has made me going towards Pixel 2. Yesterday I tried playing with Oneplus 5T in the O2 shop and I'm impressed of its lightness, huge screen and battery. But I've read that the OP5T camera isn't that great (gsmarena). What would your recommendation? Pixel 2 is £180 more expensive here in the UK.
May I ask for your help & advice, I just bough pixel 2, the white color on the screen has a little yellow tint compared to my Htc 10, is this normal, or I got a faulty device.
I'm sure you've figured out your screen issue, but is the nightlight feature turned on? Or perhaps have you tried the different screen color modes? Like natural, boosted, and saturated?
Doesn't the dongle reduce the sound quality? I've always wanted the most lossless sound, so having the sound through a USB and not a 3.5 jack is worrying ..
sanmarinojR No, in this case the DAC and Amp in the dongle are significantly better than the internal DAC and Amp in last year's Pixel. They're also better than those in the S8/S8+/Note8. However, they are not quite as good as the highly praised DAC and Amp in the LG V30. The signal is all digital until it hits the DAC in the dongle.
Thanks! Well, the LG is great, but it has many other flaws. So, you actually say the sound will be better on this usb to 3.5 jack with dongle then the S8 who has only jack? This is something new for me, I'm gonna look into it in the future, cause I tried to stay away from no jack phones until now..
Yes, it's also worth noting you could buy the $9 dongle and use it on an OG Pixel or S8 instead of their built-in 3.5mm. That's what I would have done if I decided to return the Pixel 2 XL. But, I kept it :)
Tony DiMarzio there is no DAC and amp in the dongle. It is an adaptor only to offer the legacy 3.5mm connection which most people need to continue using their headphones.
Paul South that is incorrect. It is impossible to listen to digital audio without first converting it to analog via a DAC and then amplifying the signal in order to drive the speakers. Please read up on the dongle.
Pixel 2 and Pixel 2 XL are already here and just like last year, the phone comes with a bunch of exclusive features like the all new Pixel launcher, Motion photos, Now playing feature and a lot more. If you’re just itching to try out all of the Pixel 2’s exclusive features but can’t really buy one, well we’ve got some good news for you. You can get Pixel 2’s exclusive features on your Android smartphone. wp.me/p7k2UN-2n8
This guy is telling us that he isn't blown away by the performance of pixel 2 n pixel 2 xl's camera comparing to other flag ships 😂😂😂😂 nice joke bro 😂😂😂
Don't forget the cost. Best Phone for the Money$$$$. I took advantage of the Verizon $300 discount making the Pixel 2 cost for me at $349 . I could buy 3 Pixel phones for the cost of an apple X
Somewhat of an Apple fan here but not so much that I don’t consider other technology. As a matter of fact this phone is really appealing. That being said, Google raised a HUGE stink about Apple removing the headphone jack, so it makes you wonder what changed their mind. MPO is the headphone jack should stay and be an option for those who don’t want to use Bluetooth. Even so, Im still liking what I see here.
I actually don't mind big bezels... But dose are huge! Keeping an eye out tho, for google's promised software update to fix some of the screen issues... If dat works well, XL 2 it is, otherwise will probably land myself the OnePlus 5t.
Ah man, those bezels constantly get in the way of my viewing experience, and my fingers can't stop resting on them... and how will it give people the strong urge to steal my phone, like the other phones do?! The world is ending, all because of that horrendous design. sarcasm.
Nice review, glad to see one on the non-XL
Exactly! You're reading my mind!
AMEN! Finally!
just too many xl reviews - regular is better!
I really don't know why people hate on the top/bottom bezels of this phone so much. They don't bother me at all. What people should be hating are the on-screen navigation buttons, which take up a quarter-inch of screen real estate. With a bottom bezel that big, the navigation keys should be in the bezel.
Fun fact: the pixel 2 still has a better screen to body ratio than the iPhone 8
Joseph Harvey true
Pixel 2 is a better version of iPhone 8 tbh.
fun fact: pixel 2 has less of a screen to body ratio than pixel 1
I returned my Iphone x yesterday and bought this today. What a difference! This is such a good phone. what are you using for texting? anything comparable to iMessage?

If anyone really believes this guy returned X for pixel 2, i lost my hope for humanity
I commend Google actually for the Pixel 2 design. We don't need every freaking phone to look the same. That is all.
The RaRa85 yes!!!
The RaRa85 exactly. I actually like the design
Honestly even bezels top and bottom look better than smaller ones that are an awkward uneven shape.
I opted for the Pixel 2 over the XL. Your review was dead on, Huge upgrade for me from my old Nexus 5.
Nexus 5! wow. yeah, I'm excited to get mine. it's an upgrade from a Nexus 6P with battery issues
How does the battery do?
I think it's awesome. I am coming from a Nexus 6P that had battery issues, but I can UA-cam all day and have 30-40% left when it's time to go to bed. I feel confident that even if I use it heavily, there is more than enough battery to last one full day. I don't have any hard numbers to back up my claim, but I think the battery life is great. Yeah I leave home at 6am and am out all day and never charge it or bother with power bank and have bluetooth rockin with LTE and I get home with 40%+ amazing
I am upgrading to pixel 2 from nexus 5x. I skipped the original pixel because of no front facing speaker
This video ended convincing me to buy the pixel 2 , excellent review, thanks man!
Phones should be utilitarian, which is exactly what the pixel 2 is. Other flagship devices may be nice in hardware but they are sacrificing convenience and simplicity. I personally like a little bit bezel because I often need space to grip the phone without pressing anything.
Very well explained bro... Never felt like i m watching a review. It was so smooth and upto the point. Covered my doubts..
What are you talking about the phone is beautiful!
Frank Skiff no
Quality review keep it up
Really good review.. crisp & detailed in the same vein. Music too was pleasing. Subbed 🍻
Keeping the same screen but reducing those bezels would make this phone perfect! Still a little too big for my taste, even though it is my new phone.
The bezels isn't enormous. Show me another 5" phone with dual speakers and slim bezels?
Lu-Hiep Phan HTC U11 plus!!!
Go and watch it!!!
That phone is just dope!!
Iphone X?
5,8 inches there but about same size as this one with a dual speakers
5TAT30FTH3ART dual speaker up and bottom screen?
My HTC one m9 has smaller bezels and a very similar front set up, 5" screen and front facing speakers so yes the bezels could be smaller. Still buying the pixel 2 though finally another flagship with a 5" screen the perfect size for a screen imo

I love high tech traveler because he's legit the only tech UA-camr who I don't feel is biased to a certain brand. Love you man, keep it up!
Awesome review man this is actually your first video I've ever seen but your work is pretty good.. 👌 hope you get to 100k soon
Great detailed review showing off its features! Been thinking about getting this or the S8, this video may have persuaded me to get this. And I’m switching from a iPhone 7. Great video!
Nexus 6P 2015 : Performance is perfect
Pixel 2016 : Performance is perfect
Pixel 2 2017 : Performance is perfect
THEN WHY SHOULD I UPGRADE ???
Murtaza Sadri for the features
Murtaza Sadri because it isn't....
What kind of magical 6p do you own that still works flawlessly without any hiccups.
6p performance is terrible im using it right now
Sean R i have to charge my battery twice a day and it dies by 4pm while i use spotify, twitter, and chrome.

Watched this on my pixel 2 XL and when you said "ok Google" my Google Assistant popped up 😂
Doesen't it only recognize your voice?
Matt LeClerc I guess we must talk alike? Lol
Amazing review man, quality was 🔥
Its soooo strange to me how tech reviewers talk about design as if their opinions are fact/the opinions of the general tech obsessed community are facts...I love the look of the pixel, why do we need all phones to have the same design on the same timeline?
I buyed Pixel 2 not XL only for 1 reason - because LG OLED panel is sucks
Your grammar does suck.
Good review. My only downside is that it does come with huge bezels.
But that's fine as long they are used properly.
And a good review btw.
I dont really care about the display..all i care is the camera and the battery life!! I believe the camera is just perfect and so is the battery life although its not the best..but i dont know which one should i buy..mate 10 pro or pixel 2;! :/

Mate 10 pro will be a better option. The camera has been upgraded and in the long run, you will learn to appreciate all the other features that the 10 pro has. Battery life is good too.
I think you should go for the pixel 2 if you want a good camera. Especially with the unlimited storage for photos and videos
Pixel 2 for software updates and longevity. And camera of course! This thing is phenomenal
I was on the fence between the 2 and 2xl. Both on amazon renewed for $100 and $150. I had the s8 s9plus then the note 10. I was so tired of all the false touches and the phone being a slippery fish. Got the Pixel 2 on Tuesday & Love It ✓✓✓
Awesome Sound Quality (which is probably due to the lack of the jack) ~
Fabulous Camera and comes with an Adapter for Your Headphones ★★★
Great review. Subscribed.
my pixel 1 just took a dump today. Not a bad run just under 2 years as a daily use phone...anyway I just ordered the pixel 2 and I'm very excited!!
It's a great phone. You're going to love it.
THANKS!!
you are absolutely positively correct I feel like I'm way more powerful than I actually am with it in my hand!!
Nice review. To be honest I like the smaller Pixel 2 vs the Pixel 2. Upgrading from the S7 the bezels are very similar to me.
Thanks for the review. A question for author (and google pixel owners): does the fingerprint works good if a fingerprint scanner or a finger is wet?
You triggered my google assistant at 5:52 😀😀
One big, crucial, and dealbreaking (for most people) exception
How is Pixel 2 holding up in 2020?Is still a good buy this year?
Yes it's still going strong mine heats up a little and it's probably becasue of my huge case
Overall it's a great phone
i currently use the iPhone 7. These bezels don’t seem too bad, but i think it may be time for me to go big, as sizes of phones will only increase with time.
Hello. Thanks for the video. Between this phone and u11 plus which is better?. In your opinion. Thanks
Lol! When LG G5 used "Premier paint coating everyone called it a subpar phone
I actually liked the feel of the LG G5. The difference is that the G5's metal body was a lot thinner, making feel lighter than similar devices. Some translated that into a "cheap" build.

might be the best pixel 2 review I've seen even better than MKBHD
I'm switching from the IPhone 5s to the Pixel 2... I'm in for a treat!
Its not perfect if there’s an exception.
Although, every review is somewhat biased, this one is leaning towards a flaring attractive phone (like a car with neon lights and giant spoiler).
love the 2 not XL and great review
I think I might get it

High Tech Traveler I was thinking about this phone but I ended up getting the u11 because I found a silver u11 for £375 while this pixel xl is £750
Aam Ir PyschoSmart htc can't compete with Google os
Jack Daniels have you used htc sense?
5:51 my google assistan activated 😂
i own a s8+ thinking of switching to pixel2 is it recommended ur views pls
thank you fir the info. now i am going to buy the pixel phone. it seems to be the perfect phone for me
Why doesn't your review comment on gps, cellular and wifi performance? Are all smartphones equal in these regards??
I have no idea what people are looking for when it comes to "design." I understand the bezels thing, but how many people actually care what the back of their phone looks like?
Is that the V-Moda headphones? DOPE!!!
they sure are. Been using V-Moda for years.
High Tech Traveler it's a tough solid performance headphones. For me nothing beats it lol.
I like t pixel 2 XL more than pixel 2,seen like t pixel 2 XL had a major flaws now, make me think twice.. should I get t pixel 2 XL now? Can u help me..
This is the only perfect Pixel 2 (Not XL) review on the UA-cam. Convinced me to get over the design and buy it. Thanks!
is it worth upgrading from iPhone6s+ to Pixel 2?
I’m not going for the XL2
avatariors12345 I went from 6+ to pixel 2. It's bigger than I thought.(can't imagine myself with the XL) Definitely worth the upgrade to pixel 2 and switch to android.
I'm definitely thinking about upgrading from my iPhone 6 to this.
Is it good for gaming hevy like pubg
well,I'm gonna order one for myself
probably i will go on pixel 2 over the XL,(because of the screen issue) i think we should wait anther year, when all google phones will make HTC instead of LG
I bought the XL but I wasn't happy about paying 1000 for a fun with such a bad display... My pixel 2 in the other hand is. About the same experience better screen and better prices... I'm loving it
The white looks refreshing if the bland design disturbs you that much...
If the bezels were 20 %smaller it would be my favorite
1080p on a smaller screen calls for better RAM usage.
If only it had a headphone jack.
first off I have to say I love your review. it was just the information people are looking for. to the point without the BS I think this phone is a little late in the game this should have been last year's model. with that being said it is nice having a smaller phone I mean how many people really want to to lug around a note 8 all day I feel like google was trying to keep an Apple feel to the phone and it seemed like there thinking was..if Apple can do it and have people pay $650 why can't we... what your headphone name?
The panda color has an accented power button
Camera comparison against the HTC U11 please.
HDR+ vs HDR Boost
You can find that here: ua-cam.com/video/6bqYaasVMfA/v-deo.html
Only if it had a better design. Nevertheless, a very good review.
That dongle looks so out of place in this day and age.
Yeah unfortunately it's very easy to lose and something else you have to manage that you shouldn't have to.
Been researching the phone market for weeks, at this time it seems like a compromise I’ll have to make for too Android optimisations and experience. Having a spare dongle in a bag seems to solve that issue for wired users.
There’s also a few USB-C earphones on the market if you can afford one and wait for it.
That's why you buy Bluetooth..... It has Bluetooth
That's not the exception. It's the lack of a removable battery.
you must be blind the bezels look nice because you could grip the phone side ways to play games and watch videos thats why the bezels are there for
Excellent review.
What game is at 3:23
Why do they put the navigation bar on the screen when there's room on the bottom bezels tho???
because they wanted to.
High Tech Traveler yes, and for customization
Is the power button metal on the black?
mattrc77 yes
Beware - if your from Europe it shoots 30fps - you'll get flickering video - very disappointed - it should have been sold with a 25fps option.
Is there any special setting to be able to use PIP?? I can't do PIP during UA-cam. -_-;;
You have to subscribe to UA-cam Red
The largest bezels are huge which is why i don't like it
Why do all phone reviewers take selfies the same?
is there another way to take selfies?
Pixel 2 have warmer display?
Dineshkumar Purohit
You can set the Ambient Light from Sunset to Sunrise which is a Soft Amber Color which is great for your eyes !!!
i wonder why Google decided to go with LG display on their premium 2XL instead of Samsung. this non-XL doesn't have those horrible issues.
Nameless - I have first Pixel and it has burn-in, but it's only noticable when you're looking for it. Not sure when it started.
Which one will be more durable Pixel 2 or S8? I want a small size phone to use for at least two years as 50k is a huge amount for people like me.
The Forgotten Legend pixel 2 for sure .. trust me i am using this device.
simranjeet Singh how's the device?
If u need a small size phone trust me it's best phone of 2017 . Stock android experience is out of the world
50k which currency?!
INR
Panorama mode is so crap on the Pixels though. Also no Light Trail mode like my P10.
I bought a case for my phone looks isn't a problem 😎
I have a pixel 2 and You activated my Google assistant...
Clearly not a calculated review
I,m going new phone soon !!!
well done
This guy is telling us that he isn't blown away by the performance of pixel 2 n pixel 2 xl's camera comparing to other flag ships 😂😂😂😂 nice joke bro 😂😂😂
Don't forget the cost. Best Phone for the Money$$$$. I took advantage of the Verizon $300 discount making the Pixel 2 cost for me at $349 . I could buy 3 Pixel phones for the cost of an apple X
the best phone ever
What is with you D Bags and Bezels?? I mean really, WHAT?
Fortnite is going to be great on this phone.
Cool
Apple removes rhe headphone jack, they criticize. Google does it, its perfect
runako hayes who said that
Somewhat of an Apple fan here but not so much that I don’t consider other technology.
The world is ending, all because of that horrendous design.
sarcasm.
