+Robert Francois not sure what happened to the clip but it was great. I checked in around 1 am and had 5 hrs and over 20 mins of screen on time with 18% left. Definitely think it could have gone 6 hours.
Looks like I misspoke guys. You can actually pinch to zoom on UA-cam video to make it take up the entire screen. I JUST randomly tried it and it worked. #perfectiming 😂
1:43 Just to inform everyone . The stark difference in colors between the pixel 2xl and note 8 in the home sceen is not due to the phone but the launcher. The new pixel launcher has a white/faded tint towards the bottom. If you use a different launcher the difference won't be much .
Chikere Blaise they said they’re updating it. But my issue is with photos. For me when I’m editing photos it looks different on multiple different phones including the iPhone and different androids (I sent the same photo to each of my friends who have a different phone.) and that was the hardest thing for me.
Just receive my Pixel 2 XL yesterday and can’t wait to get out there and put it to work! Appreciate your day in the use of the Pixel 2 XL especially with me leaving the iPhone and coming to the android world.
If you're going to compare the Pixel's screen to other phones, please don't use the Pixel launcher as it washes out the colors. Also, you should turn off Vivid mode and put the Note 8's display in Basic mode.
Your day in the life videos are the best reviews found on youtube because they actually show us what the phone does, instead of some reviewer's opinion. Thanks for making these videos!
Thank you for actually testing the mic quality of this phone. Your review is the only one i have found that includes a mic test so thank you so much... you are the best
Kyle Rego if you don't understand me, watch jerryrigeverything's video about the matter before acting like an idiot. You can only use the port for a number of plugs before it starts to malfunction. And now, if you have to plug in the headphones there as well, it will "tear down" faster. Not ideal of you're going to use the phone for 2 years. I have mine for 3 years so I know the issue. If it had wireless charging, I would charge it less often with a cable so it wouldn't break like this.
These DITL videos are the best in tech reviews. Very inspiring to push to be a tech review because it looks like a fun way to earn a living! Great job UAC.
I think these screen issues are being overblown. The average person wouldn't even notice the slightly blue shift when the phone is turned slightly. I have no issues with my Pixel 2 XL and I'm really enjoying it. My previous phone was a Galaxy S8+.
The bass change in the audio from one of the first transitions made my glass shelf vibrate so much I thought it was going to break hahaha. Love your videos. Big fan from Australia!
Techy compliment: Your color grading and choice is the best of the UA-cam tech reviewer bunch, including Marques. His is great too, but the colors in your vids are on point. Makes your conclusion about the screen in this video all the more influential and informative. Keep up the awesome work.
Thank you for this video. A friend sent me a link to this video since I was thinking about purchasing the Google Pixel 2 XL. I’m a longtime iPhone user and I’m looking to try something new. I was already sold on the Pixel from when I researched the specs and compared it to other phones but your video just cemented it. Thanks again and you have my subscription.
This guy does the Best Reviews ever. He Should have way more subscribers. He's like what Jerryrig is to Testing Durability to Reviews on phones. Your the Man !!
It's now true to life but nowadays that's not what people want. They want oversaturated vibrant colors. They are fixing it with a software update. There is a vibrant mode that kicks up the color by 10% and the should go up with a software update.
Vibrant mode came with the phones, and is on by default, because on a smaller screens we perceive colors as less saturated. Another mode, called saturated, will be coming with the next software update though, as well as fixes for the NFC clicking, audio recording during videos, and a few other little things.
Soulshot96 on a smaller screen we perceive the colours as less saturated, where did you get it from? Can you link to the study or have you just formed a fact based on your own opinion.
i think "day in life" is the best way to review a phone - gives a real life perspective and does help understand whether any given device would fit with one's lifestyle
good honest review. Other reviewers have gotten their phone from google or they flat out say google is sponsoring this video. Yet they still say ‘all the thoughts will be my own’ yeah right.
The display is dull because Google went for more realistic colours out of the box rather than super saturated colours. It's capable of it, but Google decided not to have it calibrated that way, which I actually prefer. Honestly, it's nothing to complain about, and the reason people are is because they are Samsung fanboys.
TheWaffleLord I've seen display experts say no it's nothing to do with Google muting the colors instead of going for saturation. Look at the iPhone 8 screen lower res and actually looks better it's not a Samsung fanboy thing the display in the XL is just trash. It shares some of the same problems the v30 display does ..the smaller pixel 2 display is actually better . Also the people have spoken the display isn't top notch and the color profile looks washed out and the majority don't like it . Software will only fix so much
Thank you for your honist review, Google is sending an update for screen brightness. The Pixel is for and always will be for pixel people. Standard Android in it's purest form, no extra GUI interface.
Good video. Decided to subscribe after watching a bunch of these lately. Good honest to goodness reviews without any fandom to skew your reviews. I bought a iPhone X, but I’m still rooting the Pixel on. Hopefully next years Pixel finally brings everything to the table.
I went to the pop-up shop in NYC and the display doesn't look like an issue at all. I have S8 which has really vibrant colors and I only noticed difference when I put them side by side but in regular usage it looks pretty nice. Also the blue tint is not an issue at all for me since I'm not going to use the phone in different angles for too long. I think the power this phone gives in a lot of different aspects like battery, software and camera is so much better than any android phone that it's worth letting the screen issues go! Plus, Google has confirmed an update coming up for saturated colors soon!
Google needs to fix the Pixel launcher. For some reason there is a white tint-like effect at the bottom of home screen. It looks terrible on my Note 8 also. Use Nova Launcher on your Pixel and you will see what I mean.
The intro was spot on.. The Display that is causing all kind of drama on Twitter and "comments section" Seems like no videos are made by big reviewers to go against Google, for obvious reasons. Only common people complaining on Twitter and on Comments seems to state the obvious.
Bro, I love these day in the life flicks. I’ve had the X for about a month but the Pixel is a banger thanks for sharing your views... Say hi to the wife✌🏾
Can the blue tint be due to the fact that they added a circular polarizer? I had a notification and the notification light was yellow but at an angle it also looked blue.
The pixel 2 launcher fades the bottom part of the home screen with a white tint. It makes the red of your wallpaper look slightly washed out. If you use another launcher, like Nova, it gets rid of the white tint.
Thank you for this! I went into Verizon over the weekend to see these in person and to be honest, I didn't even notice the color was "off" compared to my Galaxy S7. For me, those are minor things. The camera though....DAYUM!!!!
I've had this phone since December 2017 and this thing has been pretty epic for me. Can't understand why dudes are complaining about the phone, it's got tons of customization, an ergonomic sleek design, great battery life, and amazing sound and screen quality

From what I've seen, the Pixel Launcher actually desaturates content making the display look less saturated than it actually is. Yes its still not as saturated as a Samsung display but the Pixel Launcher amplifies it even more.
What were your final Battery results?
+Robert Francois not sure what happened to the clip but it was great. I checked in around 1 am and had 5 hrs and over 20 mins of screen on time with 18% left. Definitely think it could have gone 6 hours.
Agreed! Thanks for the reply.
UrAvgConsumer battery life is average. I only got about 5.5 hrs of on screen time. Nowhere near iPhone 8 plus.
London Bridge the iPhone 8 plus has less battery life the ios shows stand by time not display on time
Yash Mathur I’m talking about real world test I’ve owned both these phones and on normal usage my iPhone 8 plus lasted way longer than pixel 2 XL
Looks like I misspoke guys. You can actually pinch to zoom on UA-cam video to make it take up the entire screen. I JUST randomly tried it and it worked. #perfectiming 😂
UrAvgConsumer works on iPhone as well
Thanks
that's been there since launch
Haha i was thinking if that would work
Dempsey!!!! Rolllllll!!!!
best reaction to gundam destruction 4:50
1:43 Just to inform everyone . The stark difference in colors between the pixel 2xl and note 8 in the home sceen is not due to the phone but the launcher. The new pixel launcher has a white/faded tint towards the bottom. If you use a different launcher the difference won't be much .
Chikere Blaise That's what I'm saying.
Chikere Blaise they said they’re updating it. But my issue is with photos. For me when I’m editing photos it looks different on multiple different phones including the iPhone and different androids (I sent the same photo to each of my friends who have a different phone.) and that was the hardest thing for me.
Yeah I'm actually using pixel launcher apk it has a white fade towards to bottom.
Well played pablo
Miykala Horton yeah same here dude
These day in the life videos are like vlogs, and you're really good at it. You should start vlogging
Gabriel He and Arie have done a LOT of vlogs in the past.
Nytellem yes, in the past
Keyword past.
That reaction from the gundam was priceless. Genuinely shocked!
Just receive my Pixel 2 XL yesterday and can’t wait to get out there and put it to work! Appreciate your day in the use of the Pixel 2 XL especially with me leaving the iPhone and coming to the android world.
4:39 when you’re pumping gas and ONLY want to put $20 in the tank.... 4:46 when you go over by 1 cent

You can pinch to zoom in to crop into UA-cam videos...
If you're going to compare the Pixel's screen to other phones, please don't use the Pixel launcher as it washes out the colors. Also, you should turn off Vivid mode and put the Note 8's display in Basic mode.
You can pinch to zoom UA-cam videos so they fill the whole screen, I believe. I'm getting my 2 XL later this week!
David Carli-Arnold I'm picking mine up Friday and you can pinch to zoom
Does the extended warranty apply to the pixel I buy from a carrier? Please help!!
Galaxy note 8 does same, been hearing about this phone.. Want to see reviews on it
even the huawei mate 10 pro does that
What are your thoughts on the phone?
Aww man... You two are adorable! I feel like you guys are really genuine in your videos which makes it that much better. Nicely done!
Can you make a video about how to repurpose your old tech?
Foar Chek he really should
Foar Chek Sell it 😂
Recycle or sell it
I use them for internet and various apps I use (like a remote or editing prog) and have them around the house. Connected to Wi-Fi it works.
Or scrap for gold.
You have improved 209%... loving your videos these last four months.
4:46 when you accidentally pre order the Iphone X
Braulio Ribeiro lol
Braulio Ribeiro when your Note 8 accidentally lands on your cat & blows it up.
😂😂😂😂
MellFromUA-cam that's reaching
MellFromUA-cam lol this just shows how immature apple users are....you never hear android people saying about the bend gate issue
Your day in the life videos are the best reviews found on youtube because they actually show us what the phone does, instead of some reviewer's opinion. Thanks for making these videos!
you can zoom into youtube videos on the 2xl by pinching and zooming in the youtube app
Thank you for actually testing the mic quality of this phone. Your review is the only one i have found that includes a mic test so thank you so much... you are the best
Wallpaper ???
I like how You test stuff and put manga/anime/gunpla in it, really helps to make the decision for a fan of those in terms of buying things.
Funny how the Pixel 2 removed the headphone jack, considering how much they emphasized it having one on the first phone.
Theo Stadick Ironic huh? Lol
Marketing is marketing. Seems like it worked, too.
It's not funny, it's dumb. Google is a sheep.
Yeah I think if they're removing the headphone jack they should at least add wireless charging to lengthen the life of the usb-c port

Why were you willing to go from an S8+ to the Pixel 2 XL? You gave up wireless charging, ip68, headphone jack, sdcard slot, and better looking screen.
I really enjoy this series. Thank you for uploading your real world experiences with the phone. Keep up the good work!
Nice! I was waiting for this one 😊💙👍🏻
Hound Life Vlogs I’ll stick to iPhone.
What's the wallpaper in the thumbnail
My man's hoodie makes it look like he's wearing a bra 😂
You should buy one
The bass change in the audio from one of the first transitions made my glass shelf vibrate so much I thought it was going to break hahaha. Love your videos. Big fan from Australia!
The cameras are so good 😍
Techy compliment: Your color grading and choice is the best of the UA-cam tech reviewer bunch, including Marques. His is great too, but the colors in your vids are on point. Makes your conclusion about the screen in this video all the more influential and informative. Keep up the awesome work.
Currently got the SE loved my 6 Plus always been an Apple fan. But I think you just sold me the Google Pixel 2 XL. Great video!
Thanks for the video brother. One of the best review of Pixel 2 XL. Great job

These are the most helpful and practical videos for the newest smart phones on youtube! PERIOD!
Easily the most slept on tech tuber 😴👀👀
I watched this and I dropped my 6s for this. I don't regret it. It has been dope. Thanks man.
Does anyone have that wallpaper the 2XL uses in the video ?
I see no problem with the display. The phone, especially the camera, is wonderful. I got to see a regular pixel in bestbuy and was amazed.
What wallpaper is that?
Hey man just a quick note to say fantastic video. Quality lighting and your performance vibe is terrific. Thanks.
i legit love you you are the best youtuber in the world for tech

4:13 I seriously heard Condomplanet and wanted to understand what his wifes gonna destroy and im like wtf 😂😂
The texture on the back is really great. No fingerprints...no slip
The interesting thing about the display. Is it true to life though? If it is, is it necessary to have unnatural saturation?
Yes it is true to life.

I love your day in the life with the phone videos! They’re really helpful!
Thumbnail wallpaper Download?
good honest review. Other reviewers have gotten their phone from google or they flat out say google is sponsoring this video. Yet they still say ‘all the thoughts will be my own’ yeah right.
Dude that Liger Zero was dope!! Zero Jager ftw lol
9:32 actually you CAN pinch to zoom youtube videos to make them full width

we don't have the google pixel 2 or google pixel in Sweden :(
buy it online fuckhead

Pinch in on a UA-cam video to make it full screen
Parts of this video really brought me back to your vlogging days. lol Great video, as always.
Google needs to fix the Pixel launcher. For some reason there is a white tint-like effect at the bottom of home screen. It looks terrible on my Note 8 also. Use Nova Launcher on your Pixel and you will see what I mean.
Johnny Ezell Jr the launcher is absolutely fixed in the developer 8.1 update. No more fading out towards the bottom of the screen.
try Microsoft launcher. its actually better than nova..!
Yeah Microsoft launcher is kinda dope if u customize it .
stranger iusedtoknow yeah, n its daily wallpapers are excellent.
No one does reviews like you do in my opinion, I enjoy your reviews the most out of any tech reviews.
Yo that footage of Arie destroying the gundam was hilarious
Codmicha I DIED when I was editing it haha
UrAvgGF omg they reply to comments the legends are true
Love the disclosure. Hands down much respect.
XLGate? Pixelgate?
Leica Dad screen gate
Overblown.
This trend of calling every minor controversy a "gate" really needs to stop
Elddir stopgate
Leica Dad poop shoot gate
The intro was spot on.. The Display that is causing all kind of drama on Twitter and "comments section"
Seems like no videos are made by big reviewers to go against Google, for obvious reasons. Only common people complaining on Twitter and on Comments seems to state the obvious.
That wallpaper though...
oh man.. that reaction to the gundam falling and being stepped on was priceless! any pictures of the damage?
The blue shift may be due to the polarizing coating on the pixel screen
That's what I always thought, but nobody brings that up.
Has it been fixed by now? What a deal breaker though if not
Bro, I love these day in the life flicks. I’ve had the X for about a month but the Pixel is a banger thanks for sharing your views... Say hi to the wife✌🏾
Love the pixel
Lots of other phones use Dual Pixel for focus. So that means several devices are capable of doing Portrait mode with the right code.
4:42 he was like oh snap then 4:44 he was like bra
yo man im so excited, i had just preordered this phone last week and its coming on November 16th!
I LOVE YOUR VIDEO

Your channel's style is unique and very informative. Congrats from Brazil.
Note 8 or this phone
Thanks for an honest review. Getting tired of your peers poo poo'ing the screen issues... your honesty is refreshing.
balance the goddamn audio levels.. jesus effin christ RIP headphone users
9:28 zooming on youtube or "crop to fit" is pointless because it literally crops out parts of the video
Notification gang!
Can the blue tint be due to the fact that they added a circular polarizer? I had a notification and the notification light was yellow but at an angle it also looked blue.
Eh
I like the Pixel 2 XL 💙
Your videos are so awesome, you deserve more subscribers! I just ordered the smaller pixel 2 a few days ago, mine is arriving thursday. :)
Galaxy S7 edge vs Iphone X
yo i just tried asking the assistant "how did the Cavs do?" and it worked! As opposed to saying Cavaliers i mean. gotta love it
Noting that he bought the device himself sets him apart from someone else's biased review. 🙄
Sab Vazquez 😂sarcasm or for real
The pixel 2 launcher fades the bottom part of the home screen with a white tint. It makes the red of your wallpaper look slightly washed out. If you use another launcher, like Nova, it gets rid of the white tint.

Omg my mind waas blown!!!
Omg you are such a cool dude
This is a great comment
Nice vid tho
Did you see that!!
Watching this 5 days before I receive my 2XL. Excellent video, thank you!
Thank you for this!
I went into Verizon over the weekend to see these in person and to be honest, I didn't even notice the color was "off" compared to my Galaxy S7. For me, those are minor things. The camera though....DAYUM!!!!
They are adding a saturated color mode that can be toggled on for a p3 display. So the "muted" colors can be switched on and off.
I've had this phone since December 2017 and this thing has been pretty epic for me. Can't understand why dudes are complaining about the phone, it's got tons of customization, an ergonomic sleek design, great battery life, and amazing sound and screen quality
What's your dp
I had a look at it at EE store in UK.
And im waiting for my pre order to be delivered in 9 days now.
Cant wait to haveba Panda in my hands.
Nice video btw, keep then coming.
From what I've seen, the Pixel Launcher actually desaturates content making the display look less saturated than it actually is. Yes its still not as saturated as a Samsung display but the Pixel Launcher amplifies it even more.
The app drawer has a fade over it anyway which might be making the red on that wallpaper look even more faded
