"OK Google"
OK Linus, you can stop pranking your viewers.
Jfc I was thinking wtf is wrong with my phone
Lol!
dude stop saying ok google, you triggered my phone twice
Fucking seriously. It was kinda funny the first couple times someone said it in a video to fuck with people. But it's just super annoying, especially when you have a google home.
It's honestly annoying that I'm just going to hit dislike on any video that does it. I know I'm only one person but fuck off, it didn't even need to be in this video.
Doesn't your phone trigger off of your voice only tho?
Just like when Aaron Paul triggered everyone’s Xbox One’s
i've had multiple friends try to trigger it but none have. only my father can activate it because his voice is similar to mine. it should have been trained to your voice alone, why is it triggering when you watch a video and it's spoken?
ok google
HTC: "You can squeeze our phone to do almost anything"
Reviewers: "what an unpractical useless idea"
Google: "you can squeeze our Pixel ONLY for google assistant"
Reviewers: "OMG THIS IS THE BEST FEATURE WHY HASNT THIS BEEN IMPLEMENTED IN EVERY PHONE I LOVE IT"
Assistant is everything
@@khalidmohammed4403 but you can make the HTC turn on Assistant too?
I take a lot of screen shots. The fact that I need third party software to map this to the squeeze is a joke
I was fine with the squeeze but the buttons just felt like an afterthought
watching on my google pixelbook with my android phone nearby,
and with my google home device in the background.
*THANK U FOR SAYING OK GOOGLE*
Not kool
Wait u bought the pixel book?!
i got pranked 3 times in one video
"6 inch vs 5 inch doesn't sound like a big deal"...Some would differ
Alphonsus Ho 😂
7.5 inch phone here. My wife would agree although thickness is important too!
😂
she suppose to not have sex with anyone till she marry hem or what
LMFAO
If you do a camera comparison, PLEASE do it as a blind test. This way people don't go in with preconcieved ideals. Then they can really see what it best
Except for people who are in the tech game and have been paying attention for the last two years each major OEM has their set style. iPhone is faded (i refuse to call that natural. real life is not that bland) and often blows out the highlights, galaxy phones are saturated and often beat iphone in HDR while sacrificing said "flat" image, LG is grainy and oversharpened, and pixel is hella sharp without being too much, has excellent colors, and TOP of the line HDR while lacking the much cooler features the samsungs, lg, and even iphone have.
Exactly, and people always claim iPhone to be the best. Then when their cult style dreams are crushed the only person they have to fight with is themselves and their inner conflictions. It just brings warm fuzzies to my soul when I have someone watch a video and they always pick the better of the 3 photos in a blind test claiming that it is the iPhone, then it isn't their beloved apple device. :)
Also include the lg g6
RiceCube Tech hella fucking wrong, but you can have your own opinion
MKBHD made one
Dbrand pimping themselves out this entire year throughout tons of different content creators on UA-cam. I should know, I've been all over the place looking at all S8 and pixel videos making my next big phone decision.
EDIT UPDATE: Linus is just trolling with that wheel cover, right? .....right?
@5:18
alright that scared me because my google assistant woke up
Same😂😂
Same lol
My Windows Phone didn't get triggered
What phones are y'all using? It doesn't open in mine
Lmao chill Linus, we all want to watch your videos!
So... no headphone jack. Didn't pixel 1 make fun of apple for that?
Logan yup. And prepare for a bunch of sheep to tell you how this is the future so it's ok for companies to take out for absolutely no reason while not benefiting the phone, features, or price at all. Just to rape people that still use it while the others blindly accept that large phallus and say thank you.
Because this id's the future...
Jack Skellington Like how VHS and cassette were replaced with something better, move on. High quality and reliable wireless technology is a thing now. It can only get better. Like how the jack became better with time.
In Asia, wireless charging and audio has become amazing due to people moving on. It is time for the rest of the world to move onto something better.
@Gotta Eat All The Breads
So just for you, the advantages (+) and disadvantages(-) of the dvd over vhs:
+smaller
+less noisy
+holds more data
+more stable (less interference)
+cheaper medium and players (after initial 'vanity shock' ~1 year)
+less likely to fail due to less moving parts
-initially a bit more expensive (which was not true after a year or so)
Advantages and disadvantages of wireless headphones over wired:
+no wires
+possibly more data and control, though most has no such features
-larger
-needs charging
-more expensive
-less reliable (either go out of charge or simply interferences)
-harder initial setup
When a technology is superior in (almost) all cases than that technology will naturally take over, as we were able to see it with cds and dvds. When a technology is not superior at all other than making money for certain companies, than those technologies have to be pushed and forced onto the consumer. They either succeed or fail (do you still remember dvd + and -?).
+Gotta Eat All The Brands
How about instead of telling people that they should accept "better" technology, you actually describe just what it is about bluetooth that makes it better over wired audio connections? I challenge you to name one thing related to the technological aspects of the two different headsets that makes bluetooth superior. (Notice I said technological aspect, so no "it's just more convenient" subjective arguments or "it's the future" fallacious claims. Actually name something objective and concrete.)
Gotta Eat All The Breads Yawn. Luckily I didn't have to deal with your sheep ass. They did it already
Linus u just triggered my google home around 89 times
Darragh Walsh me too bro lol
use an Alexa
Ya me three
Same here!! 😂
same
When he kept saying "ok Google", my Google Assistant went off. 😂😂😂
you can get these refurbished on amazon so cheap
He protecc,
He atacc,
But most importantly...
*HE HAS NO HEADPHONE JACC*
poppet pala LOL. Tru dat, man. If Google made the phones just around 0.5 or 1mm thiccer, we would have not only had an acceptable battery in the small one but also a headphone jack.
and no expandable storage...😭
nice one tho😂
The Pixel was a failed experiment. Galaxy S9 baby! Headphone jack, expandable storage! The only company providing something *_GOOD_* for the consumer, not overpriced shit, lol.
Peter Njeim I've been a fan of Nexus for quite some time. Never thought I'd say it but my next phone might be a Samsung, assuming they keep the headphone jack.
edwardpirate kenway I agree with most of what you said except that I'd still take the pixel xl 2 over the iPhone any day and it's still a better value than iPhone
Stop saying Okay Google, you're making my Google Home trip out 😂😂😂
Brian Lovelace triggered my home while I was listening to my fav song 😂
Haha, mine never does that. Maybe my voice is just too distinctive
Same here
The "Okay Google" song is my favorite too! 😂😂😂
MKBHD did the same 😂😂😂
My S9+ Broke down, I have no place to have it fixed in my area and they warranty was up. I had no idea what I was going to do for a phone that had all the options I needed. Being disabled and on a fixed income, my options were few. After a few days of looking, I found a Pixel 2 XL on Amazon. I don't know much about them, but I do know it has the options I need, very much like my S9+. Also, I found it for an amazing deal at just over $200, which is still a bit expensive for me, but I was able to squeeze out the cash. I should be getting it this week sometime between Sep 3rd and the 6th. I was/am unsure of what to expect, but after watching Linus spell it out for me, I feel much better about my purchase. I do however hate that I had to buy an adapter for the headphones, I also purchased some cheap Bluetooth headphones as I listen to a lot of music. But over all, I feel I will be satisfied with the Pixel 2 XL. Just want to say thanks for all the info and I always love your videos..
Are we just going to act like the lg v30 doesnt exist as an option for an adroid phone compared to the note 8 or pixal?
beats s8 rear cam
LG's software is its biggest achilles.
Camera takes not so great pictures. They did a review on it comparing them go watch it.
I got one for my brother on my plan, and damn, it's good.
When Linus kept on saying "OK Google" my phone went off over and over again
Need to recalibrate your voice recognition haha 😂
You must sound like him
same
nah they were tollling
Cabbage Boots me too XD
06:07
The wheel cover Linus... Burn it.
Could be his wife's car... :P
It's not his Lambo, duh.
But the wheel cover is cute.
Yeah... his "wife".
keep it linus
Thats the hello kitty evil demon version cover.
Only for badasses.
If you think about it it's pretty crazy that Google was able to get not one but two major tech companies to collaborate with one another in creating variations on Google's design
"A little squeeze" Had me lmao
I love you.
Not you Linus. The Pixel 2 and XL!
BonziVids What a joke.
Linus, the older you get the more hair your ears will grow. Don't forget to manscape.
lol xd
what a fucking idiot
I'd have said Max
LG V30 review!
nothing has really intrigued me into upgrading from my note 5, but that pixel 2 xl is the best thing i've seen so far.
MrCombatgiraffe has tons of issue. Google it!
MrCombatgiraffe I'd suggest the note 8 or waiting. The pixel 2 is a good phone. If it was at least $200 cheaper. But it's so over priced it's the iPhone of android.
Its a good phone just a terrible value at it's price
I've got an s9 and it's lit at. Especially with the headphone jack and free any headphones
Coming back here in 2020 to remember when new Google phones were exciting
Come on, 16:9 aspect ratio is not "last gen". It's the golden standard aspect ratio for which 99% of content is optimized, including LTT videos! What's the point of having that extra screen space when you end up with black bars when watching videos? It also makes it harder to use the phone with one hand, because the screen becomes awkwardly tall. I really dislike this 18:9 trend and wish we could just stick with good old 16:9.
The point is so your devices buttons don't have to be hidden. Also, black bars aren't really a problem when you have OLED...the black parts of the screen turn off and blend with the bezels.
Soulshot96
Cant you just have buttons rather than onscreen ones? I find that I always hit them. it's rather annoying. With buttons you don't get that because they require force to activate and not the base of your thumb rubbing against the screen when trying to pause or play a video.
Zecrid no one likes buttons
Well i would like to have full qwerty keyboard on my phone but no one makes them the way i like.
Hevethee
Yes! Full keyboards are super nice and much more satisfying.
>Calls Intel out for being insane anti consumer fuckers in an angry rant because of the last stunt they pulled in response to Threadripper.
>Still gets sponsored by Intel.
I don't know how he does it but he must be doing something right
Democracy...
Hey Linus, you CAN add a stop to A&W. All you need to do is while your currently navigating to your main location. Just ask google to navigate to A&W resturant and google maps will ask you to add ti current route or replace it. I know because I do this alot!
Still better than anything made in 2019
facts
S10
No way.
10:28 "Last gen 16:9 screen" You know were in the future when 16:9 is last gen.
Metrix we are*
robin we're*
Wow, the cinematography in this one is great. Really enjoyed this one.
Linus' constructive reviews are definitely key to driving industry standards. It's clear as each new model of many different devices are released, they have responded to some of the feedback he has given. Thanks Linus for helping make technology better!
As a waning long time subscriber I appreciate the increased professional looks more like MKHD and HC. Good job LT!
Linus, I'm surprised you didnt mention or discuss in depth about the screen issue with the XL 2, was really hoping to get your opinion on it..
+Kartik Vashistha didn’t experience it on my unit so I can’t really comment -LS
To clarify: Did you use your unit in the dark? I ask because I use my phone in bed at night a lot and those issues were a big deal so if they aren't present on every unit I might try rolling the dice... (Thanks in advance)
I'm using my Pixel 2 XL and I gotta say, after having it for a full 72 hours I'm starting to enjoy it more and more.
The colors are more natural, so compare to an S8 you'll think they are dull. But give it a few days to readjust your will have no issues.
Also the whole color banding this is there, however it's not as bad after a while.
Jeremiah Pierce I wasn't speaking of the bandiness or the blue haze. I'm referring to the grain that's (reportedly) visible at night. Pictured here: cdn.arstechnica.net/wp-content/uploads/2017/10/3-2.jpg
(the right is the xl. The left is the regular pixel 2)
Because it's not a big deal. Over critical reviewers are making a much larger issue of it than the reality of it actually is.
Homework can wait , Linus needs my view.
poops can hold, Linus needs my view.
DagicCross I do both :)
homework is for pussies
calm down dumbass, you're going to fail no matter how much you study.
+Fake Owl hello fellow doge
5:17 thanks for turning on my google home👍🏻😂😂😂
edit: 5:33 thanks again...

Nexus 6P still running strong. I'm good 😀
Mine was working beautifully until it died just this weekend :( (Bootloop issue). Hope the same doesn't happen to yours!
I bet the battery life last as long as fine 😂 that's why I switched.
Mine crapped out on battery big time. I was lucky enough to get an out-of-warranty replacement for a Pixel XL, which was pretty cool of Google!
How did you go about this? My 6P battery is shot unfortunately :(
That's what I currently use. I'm just going to stick with it until something truly mindblowing comes out. The Nexus 6P has facial recognition though too. That's what I use to unlock my phone 80% of the time. I don't know why Apple made the big hype fest about that because it's been around for years.
Seriously linus? Every time you said "okay Google" you Paused the damn video and made my phone and Google home open up Google assistant.
Thanks -_-
King_tazz same
lel
Same
My phone recognises my voice so it didn't do anything :D
King_tazz that was the point
I really REALLY love the two-tone white and black panda-like color on the Pixel 2, so fantastic looking!
I gotta hand it to Linus. He's the only UA-camr who makes sponsored videos without any shame. It used to annoy me when I followed him but, now it's just a part of the experience.
but it don't have a headphone jack tho
and a pair of headphones too
"Last gen" 16:9 screen
Gevorg Chobanyan
because everybody is watching 2.35:1 AR films on their phones all the time, rather than expecting applications developed for 16:9 screens to, uh, fit?
SkuzzyJ it's like discovering salt then complaining that people who don't like to add salt are last gen rather than a simple preference. Same goes for 4:3 yeah sure it's outdated and the professional fps players are still using that resolution because they are just old and don't like changes rather than it being less destructing tunneled vision.
Gevorg Chobanyan stupid ikr
(continues to film in 16:9)
Gevorg Chobanyan Lol, the professional fps players play on 4:3 (5:4 is even better) strechted resolution because then enemy players appear fatter and easier to headshot. On 16:9 or ultra wide players are more slim and it's harder to get headshots.
Hey Linus, just FYI. You don't need a custom rom to swap back and recent. You can install "Custom Navigation Bar", enable developer mode, connect your phone via USB, then issue the app permission over ADB. Still no a simple option (as it should be), but you can get the job done without root or a custom ROM.
5:21, who else's phones got triggered by this?
Shaneman1114 mine
Mine
Mine. It was like "Im sorry, i'm ignoring you now"
Mine opened Google assistant 3 times and then crashed
The Galvinizer lol nice
Whoever edit this video should get a raise immediately it’s especially that comment about the extra inch😂
David Shenouda Linus you get a higher pay for yourself
Linus didn't want to get pulled over like scrapyard wars season 2
I still use Pixel 2XL and it's perfect. No need to upgrade any time soon.
Pixel 4 is lacking the fingerprint reader.
Pixel 5 has a hole punch.
Maybe Pixel 6 will be my next phone.
Not everyone like their data being collected and used 🤷♂️
Loving the new "seamless" ad integrations, they are seriously making the ads way less horrible. Keep it up 👍
Thank you!!!!! Now only MKBHD's full review left :)
Parichay Chatterji ya
I'm pretty sure it comes tomorrow, I'm not sure if he uploads on weekends
Parichay Chatterji MKBHD will just say things that are in specs just saying...
I really hope he talks about the screen issues and gives his opinion on whether it is something to worry about, or something that we can look past. I really trust his reviews!
Bezel size is such an annoying complaint people have, almost always comes with positives like speakers/ other interiors. Also makes cracks less on the screen and you won't press stuff accidentally when using one hand
Nick Brandel agreed... After having the s7 edge I literally had to put a case on it so I could watch videos without dropping the damn thing -_- I can't believe people never mention this
Bezels don't help with cracks-- it's still one piece of glass that covers the WHOLE front whether there are bezels or not. I agree that the complaints are silly though
I actually just think bazel less phones look good. I really like the design of the new Xiaomi Mi Mix 2 (if just the camera would be better).
i love my bezel king htc u11 with its fully programmable squeeze (which used to be a gimmick until google introduced a poorer version, now its great!)
I have a Moto g5, I have to agree that my complaint isn't those delicious wide bezels that house a front facing speaker AND mic and have that sexy faux chrome on the edges, but that cheaper tempered glass that is more prone to scratching
5:45 is when my Google Home Mini informed me that it was triggered by Linus saying "Ok Google"
8:58 Linus looks like a new-to-technology parent taking a selfie
Seems like it's still missing alot. Especially compared to the s8. No expandable storage, headphone jack, or wireless charging?
All the photos and videos are uploaded, for free, so storage is not really an issue. I have never really seen the point of wireless charging. Instead of the phone being plugged in, a thing which you place your phone on is plugged in. Seems pointless and slower to me. Headphone jack is still useful, but if you care about it that much, your money is best spent on a different company's phone.
Expandable storage is Samsung confirming to unintelligent users. If you know what's good for you, you works go for a bigger internal capacity over SD expansion.
MaximumGaming5o The micro sd slot is built with the sim card tray.
Wireless charging is great if your phones port gets water in it. Of course my note8 has a crack in it so I won't be dunking it in the water anymore anyways lol
Spektrik Wow you're stupid
LG V30...?
Every one saying that they won’t buy it because it doesn’t have a head phone jack. IT DOESN’T MATTER I have had a 7 plus for 3 months and after putting the dongle on my headphone I never noticed a difference.
@Kay just keep it plugged in the headphones. Ez
Going to update from a Nexus 5 to a pixel 2 XL. But only if I get good results 😅. I always had an attachment to Google products. Don't know why. Maybe because they launch all the good stuff on my birthday. Why am I even writing this, nobody is going to care. Oh well, I'm bored lol. Thanks for reading. Lol.
Shaiba aa I read it :)
No worries
Shaiba aa I care about Google products I have almost all of them Chromecast ultra, pixel 2, and Google home Mimi
No headphone jack is an immediate deal breaker for me or anyone I know.
Ridheesh 47 It was for me but when i considered how much i use it along with the battery life of the pixel it is becoming less of a deal breaker. I'm not concerned about the screen and if it's actually an issue
Ridheesh 47 you must have a lot of broke friends
PhD1114 So smart equals broke and pathetic sheep equals money.
Broke? Nah, I just hate bluetooth headphones. They tend to be bulky and/or not fit well, tend to have mediocre sound quality, require charging, don't work well with my work computer (Windows 7's shitty bluetooth support), or at all with my home computer (no bluetooth). As much as companies want to push the whole wireless thing, avoiding a headphone cable doesn't actually provide any benefit to me, and comes with way too many drawbacks.
Matthew Hennes My high quality Bluetooth earphones sound better than my high quality earphones. I can connect fine to everything. I never worry about battery life as most people do not stay plugged to audio for more than a couple of hours due to ear fatigue. During that time you charge.
I think you are biased. A high quality Bluetooth dongle cost 10 bucks. Almost everything is Bluetooth now. Like how VHS and cassette died, upgrade and move on already. Also move on properly. Do not cheap out. Save up.
Why does everyone ignore the LG V30?
Lim Chee Hean well being Linus is in Canada, the v30 just launched a few days ago up there, and on top of that (if he has even gotten a review unit from lg) he like to spend a little bit of time with the phone before publishing his review of it.
7:26 You can enable multiwindow for any app in developer options ;)
If you want a more reliable phone long term, get the one made by htc
I had a pixel and loved it. I just got the pixel 2 last week and i love it as well. Its not for everyone but its the sweet spot for phones for me.
This video triggered my Google assistant like a million times 😂
sshgames same. My Google Home lost it.
Mine didn't :p
God new Linus is sooooo much more different than 2014. The fact that hes not saying 400 words per second is just.......normal :/
Just a heads up for everyone trying to swap the navigation keys:
Download Custom Nav Bar off the Play Store and install ADB on your PC. Enable ADB Debugging (under Dev options, tap Build number 7 times) and plug your phone into the PC. From there just open Custom Nav Bar and follow the instructions
I refuse to buy a phone missing a headphone jack.
Andrew Novak well you have to one day the way it’s going rn
that troll nop, phone will have headphone jacks for the foreseeable future because headphones are standard to the 3.5 mm jack, unless dongle is the new thing it's never gonna catch on.
Andrew Novak Just avoid North American brands, they're the ones removing the headphone jack.
The Asian brands are going to keep them for a very long time. Most of the world still uses and prefers the 3.5mm headphone jack.
Good luck with that.
Lol then you wont own a phone in the future
I love how self aware he is of his sponsored advertising. Its pretty funny actually.
I really want to see Linus & crew to review some of the off mainstream phone brands like the Blackview BV8000 pro or Blackview s8 for example
Honestly the best thumbnail I have ever seen on any UA-cam video...
Some sexy shots
A wild DANNYonPC has appeared!
( ͡O ͜ʖ ͡O)
What does TriggeredOmastar want to do?
FIGHT - - BAG
Dnymon - Run
Anything you want... ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)
Danny! Suh dude
If that's colten's happy face then how he looks like when he is sad!!!!!!!??? 😅😅😅😅
That can be scary
For those with small hands, or who just want a better way to hold the phone, get a ring stand and stick it to the middle of the Pixel Xl, I would recommend this mod to any phone, but especially large ones. There is just something great about not having to worry as much about dropping your phone or reaching the top of a larger screen.
People always seem to talk about the little aspects of IOS like 3D Touch but never mention it's easy to use interface while also being VERY constrictive in the App Store. Whereas, android usually has a bit more clutter but an extremely free Play store with tons of more options.
What about the crappy screen display on the XL 2 that everyone except for you is talking about
AZKIKR And THIS...
Some Google Pixel 2 XL units already have a display burn-in problem, including ours [Update] - 9to5Google
apple.news/AC96Ad54WR7OzRI-tZ9e64Qapple.news/AC96Ad54WR7OzRI-tZ9e64Q
You didn't watch enough reviews or see them in person , if no one told you about it you wouldn't of noticed the display "issues"
AZKIKR you can always stop by a Verizon store and form your opinion.
I dont watch my screens sideways so it wont be a problem.
Clous von it's true I never saw one in person but it's not just one person saying the screen is not worth the flagship price
and what about the lg v30? everybody forgets about the v30 :(
Goliath its true, but it doesnt mean that every body should give a shit about that awesome phone
It's good, but not as good as the Pixel devices. And monthly Updates... So worth it!!
Balázs Ungvárszky
I was hoping the v30 was going to be one of the best phones with no compromises, and that the oled panel would at least get close to Samsung’s oled displays. The reports of color shifting and uneven screen tones now have me leaning towards the note 8 because of its almost perfect display. Comments? (I was also really looking forward to using that hifi dac)
The vast majority of people want Huawei or Apple or Samsung or Google... They pretty much own the whole market. LG needs to push their PR department.
The V30 should definitely be included.
Can't wait for that Note 8 Pixel 2 camera comparison video!
Instead of having squeezable sides that work as a button press, how about having full touch sensitive sides so you can use them to scroll up and down a page without having to touch the screen?
Still waiting for Linus' view on the LG V30
THANK YOU!
He said his V30 is still in the mail, as of Saturday the 23rd he hadn't received it yet
Yeah I get mine tomorrow. Very excited. They gave me a V20 for free as well.
Got mine yesterday. Not very good. The camera is laggy just like every lg phone before it. Screen is actually good imo. The software feels like it's agalaxy knock off. I'm coming from the galaxy s8 and the note 8. Honestly Samsung made better phones this year.
What about the pixel 2 xl screen issue? Did you notice any color shifting when the screen is tilted? +Linus Tech Tips
Elie Chobok I was also wondering if he was going to address this in the video as I have the issue with even 5 degrees of Angle in any direction
I just got my Pixel 2 XL on Friday and there is a slight shift in color if you are viewing your phone at an angle but nothing like what people are complaining about and it certainly is not detrimental to daily use. I have not experienced any burn in yet but I will keep an eye on it. The last time I had burn in was on the Note 3 and it was just an annoyance and did not impair the function or usability of the phone. What it boils down to is Apple fanboys are going to bash it, Samsung fanboys are going to bash it and Google fanboys are going to praise it. Reality as usually happens lies somewhere in the middle. I upgraded from a Note 5 and just wanted something else. When my wife upgrades I might get her the LG V30 to see how that is..
Steve Johnson, I've only used iPhones since the first one launched so this is my first Android. My blue shift is a bit severe even at what I'm guessing is like 5 degrees of tilt, I do have a bit of the grain people are talking about as well. I really like everything about the phone but I am just going to say I'm disappointed in the QC issues. I pre-ordered this on the 9th hoping that this is finally the time that I could comfortably switch from an iPhone. To sum it up I guess, I am hoping once Google gets more screens that don't have issues in their inventory they will let people send them back in for replacement, but I will live with it for now.

Well, I hope the rest of the features end up working for you. I personally think the display looks great on mine. I got mine through Verizon not that that should have any bearing. All of the pre-orders should be coming out of the same batch. After using exclusively Samsung products for the last 6 years its taken a few days to get used to the changes but over all I am liking it.
You really made a good point at the end. The Nexus to Pixel price hike was a lot of money for not a lot of new features. The Pixel 2 is strikingly similar to the 6P, which is two years old. Google really needs to give a good reason to upgrade to the Pixel.
The 'Now Playing' feature looks fantastic. I need this on my S8.
No head phone jack ? ...fuck this shiit
why do you guys have a laser cutter. Just get William Osman
5:24 "We didn't recognize your voice" My pixel 2 xl says next to my computer
You should do a review of the Essential Phone PH-1. Just recently came out and I am interested in it and I want your unbiased opinion of a bare-bones phone produced by the creator of Android.
What's the phone holder you're using in the car?
Crappy universal one. While if your business is reviewing various phones then you need a universal one, but they aren't good. Custom holders are 1000% better if you use the same phone for years. There are even custom designed ones for specific phones with specific protective cases.
I use SlipGrip. I would recommend them. As I use my phone as a navigation everyday for work.
3:45 ......................................
3:55 Why Linus did not detail the stereo front facing speakers ? He only said it's worthy of an upgrade if you love htc's BoomSound :\
Final edit: I was trying to say that the visual of the video is stronger than the audio discussion presented by Linus 😂
DarkzHaunter
3:50 "stereo front facing speakers"
DarkzHaunter Imo that should have been self explanatory. After HTC ditched boomsound, no phone manufacturer offered the same quality speakers.
Bro, that’s simply not what he said...
Ion PC they weren't always the best anyway
Alex K. To you. You don't stand for everyone
5:22 everyone's Google assistants go crazy... Mine went off
The "incomplete" experience is mostly the Google Assistant's fault. Check out a video about comparing the GA to other assistants such as Bixby and Siri.
My Pixel XL knows my voice... Didn't work :)
What about the V30 you flippin' crust
LeGoogle Chrome He said his V30 review unit should arrive any day now.
You can hold the recent nav button to do split screen multitasking on s8, s8+ & note 8.
Samsung has been doing that for years.
Tbh my favorite phone camera is the LG G6. Fully featured manual photo and video modes with 4k and such.

Pixel 2 XL looks REALLY good! Stock Android, great screen and those looks? Count me in. Let's just hope LG finally learned how to solder the fucking SoC to the board so that the phone does not die in less than a year.
Martin Paoloni "great screen" Don't get your hopes up.
Literally *just* replaced my LG G3 because of the poor soldering causing a blue screen of death. I liked that phone, but it was the entire issue I didn't go with another LG.
this is *Exactly* why we bought the Pixel 2 and not the XL. We don't trust LG anymore.
Martin Paoloni You can get far better value for your money with literally any other device. Its the worst value in an android phone currently
Hands down one of the best LTT reviews of all time.
I still love this phone and the newest pixel is basically a copy of it.
The Pixel 2 XL can tell me what song is playing directly from the lockscreen, but Google Play Music doesn't support lyrics on the Android app. However, if I click the detected song from the lockscreen,it takes me to the Google Play Music webpage which DOES have lyrics available.
3:39 such a sadness, get real
This just made me miss Luke and his weird sounds that he made when reviewing the pixel
I've had the Pixel 2 (non XL) since the release date and it's definitely an upgrade to my old iPhone.
PROS: - It works like butter, super smooth. - The camera is amazing. - It charges extremely fast with the stock adapter/cord and it goes through a full day (regular use) flawlessly; I'm usually left with 25-35% at the end of the day. - Screen on this phone (not the XL) works great. - Simply how Marques put it, it's a very smart smartphone.
CONS: - No headphone jack, (which I got used to and I don't mind since battery life is great on this phone I don't need both ports at same time.) The headphone adapter comes in the box as well; no headphones though!
- Does feel a bit fragile without a case on it. I dropped it once without a case on it and it did get a little ding on a corner but nothing cracked on the phone (I got a case the next day). CASE IS RECOMMENDED.
- When I'm using it in my car connected on Bluetooth, sometimes the sound glitches which makes me think I got a notification when I didn't and that bugs me, but the glitches rarely happen however.
Overall, I would recommend the smaller Pixel 2. I do not know about the XL as I have not tried it. The bezels on mine do not bother me. It works like a racehorse and the software just feels smooth af. Superb camera with great battery life as well. So far, great phone.
