    The 50kw charger would have been sufficient. The Bolt can only accept a MAX charge of 55Kw. If you recall your first charge rate of 32Kw, that is normal for the Bolt. It is recommended to charge only to 70% at DCFC. The speed of charge slows down considerably as you approach 80% and above. For road trips, plan your charging stops to get you to 70% and move to the next station.

      @987micim Рік тому +1

      @@sortingsin So far as I am aware there are no CHAdeMO adapters for CCS but if possible please leave the CHAdeMO charger available for any potential CHAdeMO vehicles. Since each station usually only has 1 it can lead to extended charge times for Leaf owners although don't go out of your way to avoid using it if the station is full.
      Connecting to a charger above 55kWh does have the advantage of being able to charge at full speed and power stuff like climate and other stuff.

    We love our Bolt. I agree with the previous post. When the charge slows stop and drive to the next charging station. Also double check the next station to make sure their chargers are working. This will save you money and time charging.

    I just put a deposit on a 2023 Bolt a couple of days ago. Hopefully I'll take delivery in a couple of months. I'm not much of a road tripper, but most of the videos I've seen it's probably a good idea to prepare for at least an hour or so at the charging station. If I do go on a road trip and it normally takes 5 hours in an ice car I'll leave 3 hours earlier plan for an 8 hour trip. I'll download a few movies from my Netflix app and watch movies while I wait. For me charging speeds on the Bolt is a non issue. Gr8 vid. 🚙 🇺🇸

    Generally on road trips, you want to pull into a charger with low state of charge (around 10%) and charge up to maybe 50%, which should be enough to get you a decent distance up the road to the next charger.
    It sounds counterintuitive, but charging up to 80% each time generally results in a longer overall trip time.

    For Bolt road trips you're better off running it down to 10% and only charging up to 50% on DCFC on the way if possible. Bolts (already slow) charge speed drops off a cliff after 50%. It may not be possible depending on charger spacing where you are, but I'm regularly doing a few hundred miles and not spending more than 25-30min at chargers at each stop.

    The 50kw plug you were looking at is Chademo. You cant use it with your Bolt. The blue handle is the give away. However, lots of EVgo machines are 50 kw which is fine for the Bolt. Unless there is nothing else available, leave the higher powered machines for the cars that can charge faster.

    Bought a new 2022 Bolt EUV Premier in mid-December.
    We have yet to do our first road trip. We often go to Portland, OR. Should be able to do it on one charge (~210 mi), but there are a couple good charging spots along the way, if needed.
    Very happy with our Bolt so far. The slower DC charging is unfortunate, but not too much of an issue for us as we average only about 15 miles per day around town (we don't even have our Level 2 charger outlet installed yet -- may not even need it!).

      @@TTorres1183 It's definitely in the works (waiting for a Qmerit callback); I hope our breaker box has the capacity. I would like a 60A circuit for a higher output charger, but will settle for a 40A circuit and use the dual charger that came with the Bolt. If the box is maxed out, may try the SplitVolt device that will "smartly" share our dryer receptacle (which is inside the house on the other side of the garage wall). Thoughts? Advice?

    • @adofoi30

      True the Golf TDI is a longtime favorite of mine. The reason to get a bolt would not be performance vs the TDI but the horrendously dirty NOx and other emissions. VW did try to fraudulently cover that up which resulted in Dieselgate. Which I guess did result in Electrify America/Canada as a penalty to VW.
