  • This is the Jaeger-LeCoultre Master Control Sector Dial.
Introduced in 2017, this is an entry level JLC watch but there is really nothing entry level about it. See why it is a great entry into the world of JLC. Or high horology for that matter.

Really enjoy seeing your collection but the best part is the details and history about each watch and the manufacturer. Hope you and the family have a Merry Christmas.

Owned it. Sold it and upgraded to a gold/steel Rolex Datejust 41. Word of advice: if you want this piece, get it in gold.

      Why in gold?

ryvr madduck Personally speaking, I felt the stainless steel model (which I had) had a very understated personality (almost too understated) and felt too light (I would say flimsy) on the wrist. That’s just my opinion but it was why I sold it. Gold would impart some more “zing” and heft into the watch, both which I felt were needed.

Dear Mr. Leyenberger, The sector dial is quite stunning. The sense of space is accentuated by a minimalist approach to labeling on the dial. There is only the JL insignia and Jaeger Le Coultre under 12 o’clock and Automatique above six o’clock. I question whether even the word Automatique is necessary, although there may be issues related to visual balance if Automatique were to be omiited.” The skelton hands likewise help keep a light visual quality to the face of the watch. The overall diversity within JLC’s catalogue and the extent of the catalogue is a reminder that JLC has an amazing long term horological heritage. There are many surprises in the range of watches. There are some amazing diving watch designs and historic form watch designs (ie The Aristocrat aka The Grasshopper). Thanks again for highlighting a great entry watch in the JLC line. Best regards, Howard

Thanks Howard. I'm like you and tend to prefer minimal dial labeling. However, you make a good point - sometimes in the interest of balance more writing than we would like is needed. Cheers!

I've always considered getting a Master Control Date to get into the JLC brand after spending a lot of time with Omega and Rolex. I absolutely admire JLC for their watchmaking and they are arguably one of my favourite brands that I've never owned.
My fear about buying a Master Control Date is that I might get bored of it. No doubt a timeless design, but part of my brain is telling me it's too simple.
How have you enjoyed over the last year?

A very good question Mike, which could be asked of many a "simple looking" watch. In this case, I have not become bored. I wear it in regular rotation (for a week or so every couple months) and continue to appreciate the dial, hands and high quality construction.
But if I wear to wear it every day, maybe it would become too familiar.

Looks beautiful but would be lucky to get half my money back if I had to sell it at some point.

yeah, that's often the problem. Us watch collectors need to buy for the long term. No fast bucks here.

I just picked up this watch as well and so far I love it. I searched for the correct lift angle for the 899 movement and had trouble locating it. I did find one forum thread that stated it is 48 degrees. I noticed Arthur has his timegrapher set for 52. I honestly don't know for sure which is correct, but if it is 48, I imagine the amplitude in the video might have been a tad high. Arthur, did you find any reference for the 52? I'd like to make sure I use the right one.

Best I could find is that the cal. 899 is based on the cal. 889 which has a lift angle of 50. I think in my video, since I couldn't find the exact lift angle of the cal. 899, I used the default of my timegrapher. Do you have a source for the cal. 899 lift angle? If so, I'd like to put it on the TG again., Thanks.

Arthur Leyenberger forums.timezone.com/index.php?t=msg&th=1681678&rid=0 , this is where I saw it, in a Timezone forum. He doesn’t site his source though.

I’ve had mine for just over a year, and I absolutely love it. It’s ridiculous value for money. Only slight complaint, and it’s a common one, is that the strap isn’t that great. I put mine on a lighter blue casual strap and it really pops. I think this watch is kind of halfway between a dress watch and and an every day watch, so I prefer to dress it down to more of an every day style. It really is amazing.

That may be the prettiest watch I've ever seen. After I watched a few reviews on it, I looked for one online. Can't find any. Is it a limited run or limited edition?

    • @artl52
      @artl52  4 роки тому

Yeah, it was made only in 2018 I think. They didn't call it limited but said they would only make it for a year.
