      @Peter-tc3ep 5 років тому +12

      IndeedBeni GS are beautiful to look at, too bad mine was the least reliable watch I’ve ever owned. I had the spring drive for two years, it went to Japan twice and stayed there for over two months each time. The second time was around the two year mark and GS told me they will service the watch this last time for free but this watch requires an $880 service every two years and that’s why it was running fast. I own an aquanaut, Submariner, nomos, seamaster and A. Lange and none of those watches have required over a $600 service and they all were around 5-7 year service intervals. They all also came back from the manufacturer looking like new again, GS I was lucky it came back working the way it should, no polishing nothing. Needless to say that watch landed at my AD from Japan and was promptly traded in. Never again a spring drive GS for me.

      Macht, you are absolutely correct. I bought my first GS a month ago, a limited Edition Blizzard dial GMT. I own 5 other very high end (3 Rolex, AP Royal Oak (stunning) and the new blue dial moonphase Longines (I had no real budget limitations and yet chose the Longines because the blue dial is far more beautiful than a JLC or the Glashutte Original). I love all of my watches, but my goodness, the Grand Seiko is an entirely different story. It is by far not only my most beautiful watch, but the Spring Drive movement is mesmerizing. I won't bore you but look it up. Can tell you no other watch maker (not Patek, not Vacheron, not Rolex) could copy it. It took nearly 2 decades for GS to create and perfect it. Oh, and it's accurate to minimum of 15 secs per month.
      Wanted to share this with you. One side note: I get more unsolicited comments from people on this watch saying how stunning it is. Sadly, I never, ever get that with my new Rolex Sky Dweller (now as hard to get as the Ceramic Daytona Panda). Oh well!

    Good video. There are a lot of watches that I admire, but don't seriously desire. For me, enjoying a watch means wearing the watch and if I'm wearing a watch, I don't want to have to baby it. I won't abuse it, but if I bump against a door frame or whatever, I don't want to be concerned that I gouged it. Likewise, if it gets wet, I don't want to be worried about that either. I have a nice old (40 years old) quartz Seiko dive watch that serves that purpose well and am saving for a Sinn U2-S. For me, that is sort of my perfect watch. A GMT watch with a dive time bezel (no need for a chronograph), basically as scratch proof as it can get and still be steel, and water resistant to a depth that would turn a Submariner into a pancake (not that I will ever test that). It's not a dress watch, can't even pretend to be a dress watch, and that's great because I never have cause to wear a dress watch. It certainly wouldn't be a lot of people's perfect watch simply because of the size. I have very large wrists so no issue there.
    I like what you said about Grand Seiko. They are finished to perfection, but it's kind of a sterile perfection and there's a certain 'sameness' about many of the models.

    Good to see Grand Seiko bother to polish the underneath area of Second hand.

    For me it was the Omega Seamaster Professional 225450, I saved for 7 years to get it. Each time I look at it I know it is the perfect one for me, still.

    It's all about the one that you can't take your eyes off, for me it's Jaquet Droz Grand Seconde, Breitling Navitimer, HMT Janata Devanagri.

    Love your videos. One question that's been troubling me. Why are all the watches set to 10:10?! What's the history of this specific time?

    Got few Omegas and would have gone for the brand. But from these 3 it would have been definitely the G'Seiko. Just wondering what are the prices, without searching the net for answers.
