You gotta try Piss up a rope by Ween. Hilarious country song
E.L.O. PLEASE
wow I never thought I'd hear Ween on this channel - brother you are in for a long, strange ride if you start digging through their discography....
Finding Ween can be a life changing event.
Ive always been a ween enjoyer since childhood, but Literally i smoked a blunt the other night and listened to the rift, israel, did you see me, and transitions in a certain sequence, i cant remember, but suddenly i found i could read into the most esoteric details of the thoth tarot and ancient magi beliefs, its like the key to lost ancient language is hidden in the music and song lyrics no matter how absurd they can be. Cant even accurately express what visions i had but it gave me a deeper understanding of the link between the observer and the whole of things. The shadows of the wheel met my eye and showed me to the crown.
100%, changes your definition of what a good band can be
Saw them 4 times live... 100% better to hear the songs live.
Ween are a phenomenal band. “White Pepper”, “Chocolate and Cheese” and “Quebec” are all incredible albums. Their earlier albums are great too, but they probably ate their body weight in mushrooms while recording some earlier music, lol. 👍
"Mushroom Festival in Hell" 😂
I'll go ahead and say it... Ween is the greatest band of all time.
Hell yeah! Polo knows Ween. All is right with the world 🤘
I fully support going down the Ween rabbit hole! They are beyond creative and give zero fucks.
From that same Live in Chicago set, The Argus. Voodoo Lady, and Transdermal Celebration would make good reaction vids
Welcome to the world of Ween. The most misunderstood and underappreciated band. Another good entry song would be Voodo Lady from the same Live in Chicagow show. May the Boognish bless your ears.
yo, that whole chicago concert was a masterpiece. been a diehard fan since 93 when they dropped chocolate and cheese. great shit.
MASTERPIECE
Ween "Pissing up a rope" is the greatest breakup song of all time.
Followed closely by "Baby Bitch". I absolutely love Ween! Saw them live in the 90's. So creative, bizarre and hilarious.
Nan is great too.
Having just experienced a breakup, I wholeheartedly agree
Birthday Boy is fantastic too
@@physicsmann That's the one!
YES! They switch genres faster than any band ever. They are the bastard sons of Prince, The Beatles, Mötörhead, & Hank Williams Sr on a full sheet of Acid, a box of Whip-Its, and all the MaryJane you can fit into a walk in closet. They're clean now, for the most part, but their body of work transcends typical descriptions. You will equally love and hate Ween at first. Then you will feel so, so dirty for liking their quirkiest offerings. Then, you will reach an acceptance that rivals most other bands. This is an absolute journey. All hail the Boognish. Thank you for allowing us to witness your conversion. Buckle up motherf'cker. See you on the other side! 🧡
Dude, you’re spot on about the stages of acceptance of Ween. I was seriously embarrassed that I liked them for a short period of time. Now I couldn’t be more proud.
That whole Ween Live in Chicago DVD is sick as F. I still have it and still listen to it often. The Argus from that same DVD is just as powerful and blew me away in the same way.
The Argus from this album/DVD might be my favorite thing I’ve ever heard them play.
Ween are one of the best. They can sound like any band effortlessly, every song is unique. There was even one time I heard a Ween song I didn't know and thought it was Thin Lizzy. Looked in to it and it was a song that was written by Thin Lizzy but never released so Ween did it in Thin Lizzy style to pay homage, incredible musicians.
Is the tune named "Gabrielle?"
@@dickielee6419 tis indeed
Gabrielle was written by Deaner, but it was done in the style of Thin Lizzy.
@@brianh5844 I'll take your word for it. My info was found on the Internet many years ago and I didn't really fact check. Either way they kill the Thin Lizzy style
@@joelhensley5322 ua-cam.com/video/26KCBv33Cqw/v-deo.html
That's the interview where he says he wrote it because he had just discovered Thin Lizzy and was listening to nothing but that for a week.
I envy you! Ween is an INCREDIBLE rabbit hole to follow!!! So, so, so skilled!
Wowwy at 63 I just heard a band I have never heard. I love to hear new music that's been around. I am hooked😊❤ Thanks for allowing to join you on this new journey called Ween! My 15 yr. old nep. is a drummer with a private teacher. I can't wait to see him jamm like that drummer does...shittttt...damn it...amazing 😊😊😊
You should watch that entire Live in Chicago set, it's incredible!
Also, the drummer is Claude Coleman Jr. He's so damn good, extremely underrated.
WATCH THE WHOLE CHICAGO SHOW!!!!
You could throw a dart blindfolded at the entire Ween discography and not only will every song you land on be a completely different vibe, but it will be an impeccable, perfect distillation of whatever genre they decided to fuck around in for that track. Musicians' musicians and a music-lover's dream.
SOMEONE PLEASE REQUEST JOHNNY ON THE SPOT FROM SAME SHOW/DVD. PLAY MORE WEEN !!! ABSOLUTELY A GREAT REACTION POLO, THANK YOU!!
Ween is the only band I know that could play 20 different original songs and you would think they were 20 different bands.
Greatest band ever; if you like the grand scale of this I highly recommend "The Argus", that song makes me weep.
I remember seeing "Push the Little Daises" on Beavis and Butthead when I was a teen, and I was forever hooked to their music.
Same ❤
I was at these shows 20 years ago! Them Ween boys are Rock Gods!
Hey There Luckypants!
LUCKY!!!!!
Holy cow! I bought this DVD 3 times, once as a gift and once cause I wore it out.
the blarney stone from this same concert SLAYS!
I love Ween! They're sublimely brilliant oddballs. You can't pigeonhole their sound -- which I suppose is part of why they're not more well known They can nail many genres, and often skewer them with wickedly funny lyrics. Behind it all is superb musicianship.
Please dig into more Ween! Amazing band that is a hidden gem
Be Still My Heart. Ween is one of my favourite all-time bands. What a delightful surprise to see them here and I loved your reaction. Thank you to the fan who wrote such a thoughtful intro and took the initiative to request this song. Hope you will check out more from them. So looking forward to it!!
Watching this made my day, I just smiled watching you enter the world of Ween.
And so it begins, buckle up hahaha so pumped for this journey to begin!!! All Hail Boognish!!!
I love Ween so much. Though I will say, they are definitely one of those bands where you either get it or you don't. They are very weird lol, and I think that's why they have such a huge cult following. You should check out their drummer too Polo, Claude Coleman Jr. He's next level incredible, one of the most underrated drummers for sure. Stay brown, friends!
I saw the lead vocalist eyes and went 'Jethro Tulls little brother'. I loved this.
They're live shows often go for more than 3 hours. Yeah. If they play multiple shows in the same city, they do completely different sets for each.
Zappa fan , I'm a show at liking it , let see , ner heard of them , luv on-yah
There is almost biblical imagery littered all throughout ween, their creative energy is so influential on the modern world its almost unbeliebable how overlooked they tend to be among the masses who consume so much content that they have inspired through their art and poetry and humor.
One of the greatest and most innovative bands of all time. Their sense of fun is infectious. Ween fans are the best too. So many people would love Ween but just don't give them a good go.
WOW. At 75 years old and I've heard WEEN...WOW
Dig in!
Polo,
I’ve been following your music journey for a long time and have been awaiting your arrival to Ween since you realized Primus sucked.
Ween is admittedly weird and takes some unlocking to really appreciate a dive into their deep cuts, but some of their songs are 4-Runner material without the dive.
My suggestions:
Dr. Rock
Even if you don’t
Any Stallion
Transdermal Celebration (highly recommended)
Your Party
Voodoo Lady
Baby Bitch (great breakup song)
LMLYP (you’ll love this one)
That opening message is so good
Dude gave out the best description of Ween I've ever heard. All Hail The Boognish!
Amazing band to see live!
Im a huge WEENer. One of the best bands of all time. Top live shows a person could see
WEEN! nice dude. I recommend their lesser known stuff... little miss mandee is a total banger
Damn dude, that is a deep cut. I've been listening to them for years and never come across that one.
26 times live... Canada, States, Europe... never a bad show. I missed the meltdown in Vancouver... mind blowing fact, Claude Coleman Jr. survived an automobile accident that he sustained pelvic fractures and brain injuries in 2002. ❤ 🙏
Ween deserves more views. Yes. But they are also all over the place so I can understand why some listeners don’t understand it.
This is a great track. I still love “the mollusk” and many others too. Enjoy!
Ween is the greatest band in the world. Please check out the following songs: Johnny on the stop (Live in Chicago), Monique the freak, big jilm (live), Bananas and Blow, and Beacon light is a personal favorite.
I saw them live for the first time recently. Best show ever, and I’ve been to a lot of shows.
Deep cut for a Ween intro. I would've floated "Transdermal Celebration" or "Buenas Tardes Amigo"
Ween is a lot of fun and you should definitely revisit them! Their unique juxtaposition of masterful musicianship and teenager-like humor is a refreshing stop in the musicscape. They put on an amazing show too!
Weird and wonderful. That’s ween. All that talent and they’ve never taken there selves seriously and neither should you. Hail Boognish!
now check out their track: Transdermal Celebration
I remember Ween, they are from New Hope, Pennsylvania, which is just across the Delaware river from Lambertville, New Jersey. New Hope is a really cool little town, google some images, worth a visit.
I spent a solid year of my life listening to The Pod. There's something just primal and immediate about their music which yeah, ranges all over the place. Loving your musical journey but I just had to drop a comment when you took a shot at Ween. I think it's a band that requires a few listening sessions to really understand. Great stuff!
Def do more Ween!
Helllll yeah, Ween is the shit. Love those guys.
i. love. ween.
This is the opening number in arguably the greatest concert film of the 21st century so far; I'd recommend either making your way through the rest of it on the channel or just watching it on your own time if you want to know the band better. There's no better introduction.
Agree, it's the thing that got me into the band, and I haven't looked back since. :)
Ween fucking rocks, great reaction. Shout out to the Patreon requester, gd legend
I highly recommend Buenos Tardes Amigo and Ocean Man.
Buenas tardes amigo
Hola, my good friend
Cinco de Mayo's on Tuesday
And I hoped we'd see each other again….🌮🥑🌶
Love that you're digging this. Ween is kind of a niche band, but those who know, know. They're truly incredible. They've done many genres, even released a country album. Pretty sure Aaron was pretty bad with drugs around this time, but they're still in their prime here.
Ween! One of my all time favorites! I found them in the 90s just after their album Pure Guava came out and I remember how awesome it was when a new Ween album would be out.
Wow was Ryan Hailey from Funhaus here? He's the biggest vocal supporter of Ween that ice seen in the digital space🎉
Wow... speechless... I can't believe I've never heard of them!!! EPIC!!! I'm definitely a fan now!!!
They are one of the most underrated bands of all time in my opinion. Enjoy the rabbit hole and the entire concert where this song is from is 🔥 and I can’t imagine these guys blocking anything. I’ve met them on a number of occasions and they’re just normal, somewhat weird guys. The guitarist Dean Ween (Mickey Melchiondo) actually used to run a fishing boat that took people on tours in his spare time.
I’m glad you like this. I have a lot to say about this band. I think I remember seeing Ween on MTV in maybe the late 80s or early 90s and it was so weird. It was sort of hysterical, but I love that album now, what really got me into them was the album Chocolate and Cheese. The Mollusk has some good ones. 12 Country Golden Greats, is really cool and funny. I love that the lead guitar can change styles for every genre that they do from song to song and it sounds like the real deal. Whether it’s pop, country, rock, Funk, or jazz or unique.
The main drummer of WEEN is amazing and doesnt get mentioned. Ever since I was introduced to WEEN in the late 90s I'm listenenig still.
Just watch the whole concert man! Do it !
Love this. Ween is on my all time fave list of bands, seen them over 20 times and travelled to the US to do so, and got my ticket for the Chocolate & Cheese 30th anniversary show in Philadelphia in September. Can’t fucking wait. This song was from the amazing Live In Chicago DVD release and every song in that set list is a banger.
I somehow ended up with the dvd of this concert in my collection. About 10 or 11 years ago, I found it and watched the entire show about 50 times. Lol The band this profile name represents used to play both Roses Are Free and Baby Bitch. Anytime someone would yell "Freebird" at a show, they got Baby Bitch in reply and we did play the song twice in one show. Lol
Hung out with them many times when I i lived in Philly. Seen them live over 20 times. Amazing musicians.
This brings me back to my teens. Captain fantasy was in rotation for ages
Porkroll egg and cheese on a kaiser bun.
I found you through TOOL reacts and watched all of them, but getting to actually see you react to WEEN… my heart is in a very happy place.
The intro message was beautifully accurate and I really hope you go on this journey.
P.S. there’s only two bands I always capitalize all their letters out of respect, and that’s TOOL and WEEN ✌️❤🤘
YOU HAVE TO WATCH THIS WHOLE CHICAGO SHOW ✨✨✨✨✨✨✨✨✨✨
You should check out the song “Voodoo Lady” from this same concert. It’s epic.
That's my favorite. That long ass guitar solo is 🔥
Can’t go wrong with live Ween.
WEEN! Yes! This is album is a great place to start. So many amazing songs. Dive into The Mollusk and Chocolate and Cheese. I was lucky enough to see them with Primus at Red Rocks for the South Park 25 anniversary show. Best concert ever!
Big ween fan. All the albums
I recon these guys love Jethro Tull , an extraordinary band , Tull , just no flute , love it , yeah
ween is one of the greatest most eccentric bands ever (on the same spectrum as primus...actually they both played together at the south park anniversary show!),
hope you listen to more. don't judge by views lots of lesser known music is better than a lot of more popular stuff
Back in the nineties i didnt get Ween. About a decade or so ago my younger brother gave me his CD collection and there was a few of their albums..........now i fucking love Ween. "Long night" could have very well been written as a narrative to the lifestyle i had at the time. But yeah, Ween are fucking brilliant.
Polo! This was one of the greatest experiences I’ve ever had, thank you. This band is really important to me! I hope you explore more of them, I would love to see you react to “the mars Volta”
WOA!!!......Yup, WEEN got me good!! A fan...one song, and a fan. Wow...
Listen to more ween
I missed them in Winston Salem NC. Had a friend play 3 or 4 albums (CD's) and they all sounded completely different. One i remember reminded me of some Pink Floyd songs and the one they got on MTV as a hit was pushing up Daisies. Very cool and wacky. But i always forget to come back too them. I know they have an extensive catalog of many sounds. Hopefully i won't be in-betWEEN in rediscovering WEEN!
THANKS!
More, please!
They must be for the enlightened which usually ain't me. I always love your take. You have let me reappreciate ( is that a word?) music I listened too all my life.
Yes a great band. Everything is different. Lots of great songs. BTW he wasn't wrong about Ramble On or Snowblind either
Love!
Hey there my friend I just recently discovered you and I have loved your reaction I was super stoked someone suggested Ween one of my favorite bands please listen and react to ween a tear for Eddie wishing you all the best
The Boognish!!! Saw them at Red Rocks twice. Sick!
Hey Polo, big fan of your channel from Germany here. You truly are a gem in this UA-cam reaction world and I just want to say how happy I am that you discovered (and hopefully will) ween. Such a great and unique band. Keep on going and all the best for you.
Ich hãtte es nicht besser sagen können.😉
🙏🏾
@@charlesm9929 Er hat ein Gespür für Worte.
@@davidanon1568 Das ist sehr wahr.
Yes! More Ween! Thanks
HELL YEAH WEEN.
More ween
Yes!!! More Ween!!
Love live the Boognish!!!
I can't imagine there being a band with any fame that I've never heard of. This is exciting even at the chance I just don't like. I hope I like it but we require both ends of a spectrum to have something to compare one sound vs another. I can't wait Polo and so excited to have found you. 10/10 Exactly right
Hey Polo! I love your show! You crack me up sometimes with your deadpan expression when you hear something that blows your mind. I am a senior and so much love to see you react to the music I literally grew up with...posters on the wall of Zepp, at the same time in love with David Gilmour's guitar!! anyway, I wanted to draw your attention to a cool, new band called The Toxhards. They are up and coming at this time. Young guys. listen to the one hit they've put out called Oxycotin. Cowritten by Emerson Harris vocalist, songwriter, guitar. Keep up the fun content.
Try Voodoo Lady from Live in Chicago...or better yet just about any live version of A Tear For Eddie.
Props for doing something so low key as Ween. Ween is one of those bands that's really good and, like your patreon dude said, is guaranteed to be one of your favourite band's favourite bands, but they always remained pretty much under the radar, hence the low views.
I don't know much Ween but I do know they don't take themselves seriously and everything I have heard is good, but I think maybe they are just too theatrical for some.i always kinda considered them a "joke" band when I was young - I can definitely tell Jack Black took some inspiration from them!- but now I have more time and a better appreciation for this type of creativity, so maybe it's time I listen to some more Ween too!
Thanks, as always!
