I love the video. This guitarist is pretty well versed in music, and most of everything they do is intentional. You can find a song from ween that fits basically any genre of the last 70 years.
There's a word used to describe the 'mistakes' that Ween makes, its Brown... My understanding is that its based on vibe, and playing fully in the moment, you mess up, but move past it furiously. There's a Jimmy Page-Ness to it.
💯 and that’s why you’ll never hear Ween fans complain about missed notes or which version of Tear for Eddie was better, it’s literally all good in Chocolate town. I soured on Phish for this reason, there’s just too many self professed music critics in the crowd.
Saw Ween in 96-97ish. Played a show where Gene was blackout drunk on Tequila. Stopped the show 40 minutes in. Came back to the same club 6 months later and crushed it for over 3 hours straight. Crazy band. Give Ol’ Queen Cole a ride!
Chocolate and Cheese gets as much play time in my house as American Beauty, maybe even more. And I must say bassist Dave Dreiwitz has the two best gigs ever, playing for both Ween and JRAD.

I live about half an hour from New Hope, PA. I went to John and Peter's on a friends tip that Dean's jam band plays every Wednesday. I got to meet Dean and even sing with him for a Johnny Cash and Stones song. Now that was before I started playing guitar, they do take people who can play from the audience sometimes. Can't wait to go back and actually jam with him this time! Great dude inside and out.
He also did buckingham green from live in Chicago in one of his live streams (my suggestion 😊) he live streams for four hours on Tuesdays (?) where he takes live requests from the comments section.

I am so glad I did you are a fantastic teacher, laying out the chord progression and explaining what Dean was playing was a great exercise and I will definitely be watching more of your videos. I was not expecting the great tips and analysis!
Ween is another one of those groups that you really need to listen to their entire catalog, or at least three albums, to fully understand. White Pepper is probably the best album to introduce a new person, but there’s a lot of crazy gems on their other stuff.
White Pepper is great but I would venture La Cucaracha because it is clean and has a flavor of all their talent. Shinola is my favorite to have someone who is interested just dig in.
@@TheEndangeredsouls the Pod I first saw them when they toured that album. Mind bending lowfi shows. It was just so weird I went from Jacksonville to Orlando to Tampa just to make sure what I had just heard was really what was supposed to be heard.

Glad to see you walking down the ween catalogue! So many gems so little time! And now you know how committed the fans are too! Thnx for doing these fun even for a non guitar player! Praise boognish
I strongly recommend listening to more tracks from the Live In Chicago show. The recording quality is so great, and Ween songs take on such a different character when they're done live. The older recordings were very rough, it was the two of them only with a 4-track backing them. It's amazing to hear the live versions and go back to what they came from, realizing it's the same song at it's core, but just so much more fleshed out and full with the whole band backing them.
Thank you for putting a spotlight on Ween. I’ve been using them as the soundtrack to my life for almost 25 years and always thought they never got the attention they deserve. You’re awesome, man.
You wanna lose your mind and feel like you've switched dimensions...listen to 12 Golden Country Greats by Ween. The lyrics juxtaposed against solid old-school country foundations is just FUN!
