One's own "style" is definitely one of the strangest things to grasp. Kyle Baker said something about it like: You will inevitably develop a style, and it will be everything about your art that you don't like. Ha ha. I can relate to that. But I also find sometimes when I look back at old stuff, when I knew much less, and think, wow, I really like that one. But then realize there's no way I could do it "on purpose" again.
