- In this short video I'm showing you guys how to replace the cornering light bulb on a mercedes benz yourselves. This video is a good starting point to know where and how to access the bulb for the cornering lights in order to replace it.
Here's the bulb that I purchased:

Thanks

Great video, short simple and clear - well explained - Thank you so much. I will go ahead and change it in my 2016 GLA 250.

Rrofsh vlla!
3:05 That "V" in the headlight can be wiped off with special fluid from the MB dealership. I did it on my W212.
From inside? Because I’ve tried all kinds of stuff from outside. 😅
@@AlbanianFix it’s on the inside, the xenon melt the plastic
after you replaced them, when you turned your steering wheel from left to right they light up yellow at the en of the vide. Shouldnt be white? I am asking because i got the signal replace sidemaker lamb on from time to time and notice when i turn left to right they lit up in yellow, it doesnt look good and it pissed me off cuz its yellow... does the yellow light indicate they are burnt, and should be white light insted when you turned from left to right once you replace them ?
The parts I got were OE and from what I remember before I changed the bulbs, the existing ones were also yellow-ish. They seem yellow because of the low lumen but on the street they shine much whiter and you can't tell the difference much. Maybe you can find higher lumen bulbs but that means finding aftermarket parts which these type of cars are very finicky to play along with. It might throw error codes because it doesn't recognize the exact voltage... but.... give it a shot.
Thanks man
Thanks for watching!
So the holder can hold the led type? It looks impossible
Installing LED in cars like these is very finicky. The voltage is not right, it flickers, the car won’t recognize it, so on and so on. That’s why I decided to install the same type of bulb and not LED.
half an hour later I still can't get the bulbholder back into the headlamp unit. With the clip on top and the wires on bottom, does it need a clockwise twist or does it just click/pop into the headlamp unit?
Place bulb with top clip at about 10 o’clock position. You will feel it go a little further in.
Then, turn bulb clockwise to the 12 o’clock position and you’ll feel it snap in.
The twisting path is very short.
@@AlbanianFix Thanks for this, I will try again!
@@ROCKY44 Not a problem
I’ve never disliked Mercedes as much as I do today. I’m trying to change them on my 2013 C63 AMG and it’s been 2 hours and I still haven’t been able to place them back, I’m about to just let them lose and call it a day lol.
what car is this? is this the same for c207 2012 e-coupe?
This is a 2011 E350. I believe it should be the same for your car, maybe a little different but similar structure.
Are the USA cars different? Ours isn't anything like this.
That I don't know. The only time I had a Mercedes was in the USA so I'm not sure about the European cars.
Can you use h7 led bulbs
As long as they're compatible, I don't see any issues.
What bulb did you use for the cornering lights?
It’s in the description now, I just updated the links to it. Thank you!
Didn't you see it on the box the globe was in? (H7 55w)
Are the cornering lights only activated during darkness? Despite trying various light settings, I cannot seem to get them to light in daylight.
Yes, they're only activate at nighttime. There’s a light sensor at the top-middle of the windshield (right next to the Rain sensor) where it detects darkness. What you can do is, cover it completely with a cardboard or something so the car thinks it’s nighttime and so the cornering lights will be activated when you either turn the steering wheel or use the turn signals.
Thanks for that. I have replaced the bulb with new, however the right cornering bulb failure light has not cleared from the dash. Any ideas what could be causing this?
@@scottlaw2401 did you sort this? I'm getting the same issue
@@scottlaw2401 Same here, new bulb in but error persists.
Why would you want them to illuminate during the day?
I dread these going out because the installation is so hard. You have to do it blind and there is no space also the holder for these things is just sharp enough to cut your fingers up. Mercedes really did a poor job designing the lights on this model, literally every one aside from maybe the main headlight is a task and even that has to be accessed through a special door from the wheel well. There is one set of lights that is a literal chipset board with a tiny led glued onto it for daytime driving... why the heck do we need that?
You summed it up pretty good when it comes to the bad design.
my cornering light melt the interior of the plastic
If I had to guess, I would say that your light was staying ON all the time which it shouldn’t and therefore melting the plastic.
These cornering lights are only supposed be ON for like 5-10 seconds until you complete the left or right turn and then turn OFF automatically.
Check and see if that’s the case…
@@AlbanianFix yea, my left cornering light are staying on all day
@@baltasaar Yup, that's not good. Unfortunately, it takes a good electronic's mechanic with a good mercedes computer to reset the system for the lights to turn on and off when needed (i.e. steering wheel turned or active blinkers to the left or right). I might be wrong but I believe it's a software issue.
@@AlbanianFix yea bcz i use the lights (xenon) on all day, and i don’t understand why my left cornering light is always on, it are destroying the inside of the plastic!!!

Well I can't for the life of me get them back in the headlight!!!
Lol!! Honestly, it took me about 10 tries as well to finally click them in.
Same here, is it a push and twist or just a push and pop?
😂😂 Sorry for the smiley faces, but when I read this message, all I could do was laugh because I was in the same shoes.
I TRIED TO CHANGE IT AND I CANT PUT AGAIN THE FKIN CORERING LIGHT, i’m going CRAZY
It took me a couple of tries too…
No pun intended but stick your finger in there and try to feel the notches of the hole so you can get an idea how the lamp should clip the inside it.
@@AlbanianFix it’s so fkn hard, like fr
complicated piece of shit, thanks for the video
Lol 😂
These globes are the worst to replace. Took me 30sec to get the r/h one out, but an hour to get it back in. The left one is a bitch, absolutely can not get it back in. Been trying on and off for months, even had a couple of friends with small hands give it a go. All to no avail, so it's just in there hanging by the wires. The message on the dash has gone, so fk it. Was driving me mental... 🤬🤬🤬
😂🤣😂🤣😂🤣😂 made my day
They over engineered this who needs a cornering light gimme a break
This is the typical German way of building cars, always striving for 100% redundancy in everything they do.
What is your steering wheel angle, when these corn. lights come on?
I never checked that before but let's say, if the steering wheel needs 2 full rotations (720 degrees) to reach dead zone, I would guess that I turn the wheel maaaaybe 3/4 of a rotation (225 degrees) for the cornering lights to turn on.
@@AlbanianFix thank you, because someone on facebook said they do it only about 50 degrees, so I thought it was too little.
