Yes, the Blue Zebra Angelfish (Pterophyllum scalare) belongs to the Pterophyllum genus, commonly known as freshwater angelfish. They originate from various regions within the Amazon River basin, primarily found in slow-moving or still waters, like tributaries, flooded forests, and marshy areas throughout South America.
Regarding their classification as Pterophyllum scalare, many selectively bred variations of Angelfish fall under this species, including the Blue Zebra variation, known for its striking blue and white patterning. These variations are a result of selective breeding for specific coloration or patterns.

Blue Zebra Angelfish variations might not be rare in some regions due to their availability or specific breeding efforts. However, it's essential to note that rarity can vary based on geographical locations and availability in local markets or regions. In some countries or areas, the full blue variant or certain specific color patterns might be less commonly found, hence considered relatively rare or less available compared to others.
