Aquarium Co-Op, Could you tell me how you feel about under gravel filters, I see your tank, I've done under gravel for 30 years not knowing the entire world abandoned this years ago, It's all I know, Thank you.
Anytime I see Dean in a video I get excited. He has so much knowledge and experience and shares it in an easy to understand way. Thanks for sharing it with us!
This is such a thorough, helpful, relaxing, and generous video! Angels are on my bucket list, hope to have a tank for them in the next six months, and this answered so many of my questions in ways other videos haven't. Look forward to checking out more of Dean's videos to learn from his vast experience! Thank you!
I could feel the pain in his voice when he said about culling the fry with deformities I'm having a hard time too cause I gave so time in caring for my guppy fry dat I couldn't just kill it... sad
I have an angelfish, I've had him for maybe a year and a half or two years? Not sure exactly how long but he thrives very well with our community fish. Our community tank is about to upgrade from 20 gallons to 65 gallons, so we're excited to give him a ton more room! He's not too big yet, but he's a sweet boy and he gets really excited around people.
i use to breed angelfish back in the eighties, in very soft water with a ph-6.4 85 degrees, same as discus, always bread very easy in these conditions. kept then in tall 65 gallon aquariums with a 4 inch sand substrate, with plants.
Just a couple of potted plants and some java fern on wood, but every time I look at this video I think the tank looks beautiful. Must be the 13 koi in the 29 gallon tank!
Great info! He mentioned that he's kept and bred them in tanks as small as 10 gallons - were they grown out in that 10 gallon tank? It seems like the majority of adult angels I've seen would struggle to swim upright in a 10 gallon, so I wonder if they were stunted at all OR if they were a smaller variety.
It was actually an experiment that I did years back. I didn't grow them out in the 10 gallon, just moved a pair into the tank to see if they would breed. They did breed but didn't seem very happy in that small of a tank. Too shallow and not enough water volume. So did it work, yes, but I don't practice that now and wouldn't recommend it to others.
Love how they clearly just listened attentively even through the food part yes the class reacted but not like a tail wagging Oscar just oooo that's food ugh .... Ooooo he's got more food ugh ... 😂
My angelfish is usually kept at 72 degrees. I've had him for about 4 years and he's cool. He does attack little fish. My corycats have lost their top fins cause of him. He bites my iridescent shark when he can, but he doesn't attack baby angels.
Hey. Just want to thank you for this video! I'm planning to get a pair for my new 30 gallon and your knowledge and advice has been really helpful. I'll definitely be referring back to your channel to guide me through giving them the best life. Thanks again, you are amazing!
My friend has a medium sized angel fish in a 10-12 gallon tank with two black fin tetras All he gives them is very old ground up fish flakes. Do angry fish feed at the surface? The flakes are so small I’m caring for them while he’s on vacation I’ll look for the food you mentioned
This is great for me. I plan to get 3 of them for a little school in a 55 gallon with my already school of 6 zebra danios. I got 1 normal and 1 each other the different colored glo-fish and the school is beautiful. And my 1 alge boy named sucker. I'm mainly getting the 55 gallon for him. I got him a year ago at around 1 inch long. He's now hitting 9 inches long. I want him to have all the room in the world. Plus he's suppose to get around a foot and a half. He just chills by himself tho. Oh, I heard that if you get angel when they are small and if you have smaller fish that they will start to think of them as tank mates. I believe my little school is too big for them to eat, but I'm still worried about it.
I have a pair of F1 Orinoco Altum Angelfish that paired off out of my group. I have moved them to a 100 Gallon Tank. I put in a breeding cone. There are no other fish in the tank but I would prefer to have a cleanup crew (Cory's maybe)? Is that advisable or should I keep them the only fish in the tank? Thanks. Dani
Im always glad to hear when other breeders cull deformities, I absolutely hate seeing people breeding from deformed fish as all that does is lower the standards of fish available for everyone else in the hobby.
I bought two nickel or quarter size angels some time ago. I had them in a 36 gal tank. As they grew, one of them started tearing into the other one, literally killing it. What would cause this to happen?
I saw a tank that the owner claimed had no issues over 3 years without water changes. It had an angel fish, a pretty big pleco but not too big, and a fully grown goldfish. It was a 30 gallon with some plants. What did u think, was that persons children or friend Tak I ng care of it, or did they naturally get fully nitrate processing bacteria?
My theory is that the bacteria evolve into the fully nitrate processing bacteria, I've heard some stories from you and from plenty other places we're occasionally a koi pond that's between 10 and 30 years old we'll get the right balance of bacteria and algae in their massive sump the fully process all the nitrates. We know it isn't a miracle. I think this deserves more study we know how to evolve bacteria to process other nutrients in the food solution, it just takes some combination of luck and factors in time.
i have a 5ish year old angel so its quite big. i was given it by a friend when she didnt want her tank anymore a few years back... it is very healthy and showing no signs of age or getting sick. at the moment it just lives with one siamese algae eater (also very old and big) in about a 260L tank. The algae eater keeps to itself, they eat really close together which is cute, but the angel is always right up at the glass watching everything i do, it follows me as i walk past and is really interactive. but i feel so bad for it. it has never had another angel fish friend, the previous owners kept it in a tinyyy little tank with a rainbow shark of all things (got rid of the shark) so for the past few years its just been living in my tank. i have had lots of other fish move through the aquarium and eventually die off, the angel and the siamese alge eater are the only two left and its been like that for about half a year. The angel has never connected with any fish and always seems so bored and lonely. I want to get some more fish but both fish are so big i worry any younger fish I add would just be attacked. So does my angel have to be alone for the rest of its life? or is there something else I can do?
I have 3 Angels in a 55 gal community tank. One I had to take out for about one week to treat in my hospital tank. I noticed the other two just paired up and laid eggs when #3 was missing but eggs are no longer around. I just tried to reintroduce 3rd Angel back and male immediately attacked so took them out. Now what do I do? 😧
Hey question I have angle fish bought them small, one one them start to attack my anastistrus fish what should I do ? I have 75 gallon and he start to attack him repeatedly before it was calm , nothing change in aquarium setup and fish
Hey boss . I got a custom tsnk built for some angles . It’s 24 inches by 30 inches , and 54 inches tall . I need some water movement in such a tall tank . Fx4 running . two sponge filters on low setting . Top of the tank has a faster water flow . Middle and bottom are slower . Think that’s ok ? What’s your thoughts on that ?
What do you do with the culls that don't have the right color you're looking for in your breeding program? (I'm assuming you have an Oscar or something for all the deformed ones) Do you ever have a wild colored one pop out in a spawn? This type of video is a good forum for you - I hope to see more of these.

I just started doing shrimp. I think im going overkill. Do i need to put a nano heater in shrimp egg jar or are they fine at room temp. I bought a 1 gallon square betta cube for 5 bucks bought a nano air tube and nano heater. i just leave the cube on the top of my 220 gallon fish tank and leave it be. Dean's the best! I recently added some angels to my fish room. First time having some of these. They are Koi as well. They have been a delight so far.

By far my favorite freshwater fish. Ever since I was a kid I kept them and I always love them perfect thanks for the info
So happy to hear the old time lapse music again 😂 bring it back!
i use to breed angelfish back in the eighties, in very soft water with a ph-6.4 85 degrees, same as discus, always bread very easy in these conditions. kept then in tall 65 gallon aquariums with a 4 inch sand substrate, with plants.
Those are problably the most beautiful angels i haver seen. The colours are just amazing. Congrats.
Angelfish are my absolute favorite. This is the best video I’ve ever seen on them. Thank you so much!
Thank you for doing these. I love listening to Dean
Great video. Dean is always great to listen to and learn from, so much experience.
my tanks recognise my frozen food packages, that being said, it is hilarious to watch the Angels staring at all those foods.
I Love how they look at Dean.
My wife really wants some platinum angels i think this video just convinced me to get some
I have some platinum angels, they're really great fish
Those platinum are beautiful
I have some too, they are so adorable
I have silver angel aka the OG angelfish :)
I'm always shocked when I hear Dean share his experience. It's amazing
Thank You Aquarium Co-Op and Dean! Very informative and beautiful content. What a generous expert with the best fish.
3:37 my friend has 2 rainbow fish and 4 big angelfish and all of them get along fine
Dean needs some kind of fan club! Always makes me want to go and set up a new tank! I've never been that interested in angels, I am now!
Awesome. Thanks for sharing Dean. Dean is giving up the good stuff.....
Gorgeous Angel Fish indeed! Thank You So Much Dean for the Valuable Advice! Stay Safe & Stay Humble! 🕯🌷🌿🌍🇺🇸🇬🇧
the most helpful vid on Angelfish around. Super informative. Great work
Best fish. One time, almost 20 yes back, had 500 silver🙂. bought them as babies and saw them growing. Spectacular
Yay Dean!
Question can I keep one angle fish in a 20g
Dean is a great teacher. Thank you
Beautiful angels Dean. Love the black and orange..♥️ Appreciate all the info! 😊
First hand comprehensive information.
Nice to showing the Pterophyllum Scalare...
Great advice. You might wanna get some suckermouth catfish to help with the diatoms on the leaves and glass.
Just a couple of potted plants and some java fern on wood, but every time I look at this video I think the tank looks beautiful. Must be the 13 koi in the 29 gallon tank!
While he was talking about the food, every angle were pointing toward it. LOL
thank you, awesome video. wasnt ready for the culling bit, never breed fish before and didnt realise you had to do this.
Dean seems to be a really cool guy ...
i am abut to buy a angelfish and this really helped
Love when Dean is on!
One key thing is these fish easily live for 4 to even 5 years. Breeding brine shrimp for food is fun too.
Great info!

I just learned that I have the prototypical perfect Angelfish head. Thick and meaty LOL. Thanks Dean!
My angelfish is usually kept at 72 degrees. I've had him for about 4 years and he's cool. He does attack little fish. My corycats have lost their top fins cause of him. He bites my iridescent shark when he can, but he doesn't attack baby angels.
Don't ever stop using that little bass beat used in the outro, I've heard you guys use it before, its grimey but in a good way lol \m/
I’ve got angel zebra, red devil, blue green and black total in 6pcs. Algae eater flying fox 8pcs on my 29gal
How many angel fish would you put in a 10 gallon tank?
About 2
i would only keep them as babies and then move them into a bigger tank once they get adult size, at least around 29 gallon
None.

I just wanted to criticise you for keeping so many in 29 gallon tank, but you explained it well.

Do you think I can keep red phantom tetras with angelfish?
I’m new to angel fish, I have not seen any red ones like urs. Are they red as babies or do the yellows turn reddish as they age?
Why does the fins of my angel fish become bent, it was normal before but when it age they become bent
What type of Angels are those in the video? Thanks!
Red koi angels.
@@AquariumCoop Thank you they are gorgeous!! I'm new to the hobby and wanted a few Angels...

This type of video is a good forum for you - I hope to see more of these.
I believe he sells most of the juveniles and keeps the best colored ones for breeding.
Deformed fry are euthanized as they wouldn't make it in nature either. Never had a wild one come from a spawn.
I dont even have fish but I watch all these videos
How many times in a day should we feed our angel fish

I ❤️ Dean!!!
Can angel fish quarter sezed not counting fins, eat guppy fry?
I just started doing shrimp. I think im going overkill. Do i need to put a nano heater in shrimp egg jar or are they fine at room temp. I bought a 1 gallon square betta cube for 5 bucks bought a nano air tube and nano heater. i just leave the cube on the top of my 220 gallon fish tank and leave it be. But this is my 24 hours waiting for my first time hatch out and was curious as if i need a heater.
Thanks for all your fish wisdom.
DEAN YOUR FISH ARE AWESOME. DO YOU SELL ANY?
What size of your tank and how many angelfish you keep sir?
Hello Sir, I have been watching many videos of you and your knowledge in keeping and breeding fish.. I had to take a break from keeping fish and it's been close to 10 years since I have.. I was wondering about inbreeding and it's possible link in causing the defects that lead to fish being culled.. I imagine in the wild inbreeding is probably a rare thing to happen.. I would really like to hear your opinion on this matter and would very much appreciate it.. Thank you for sharing your knowledge with us..
I need advice. Starting new odd long narrow 55 long tank. Thinking an aquascaped angel group. But can shell dwellers also be in same tank?
Hi can i ask some advise? if my angelfish have issue in the past for like 3 months (internal parasite/internal bacteria infection). Now my fish looking fine about 4 week no more sickness or dying. but i have noticed my all small angelfish will not grow anymore. is it true angel fish that sick on the past cant grow? is it better to throw them out? I heard they will become bad quality angefish.
"a little overcrowded" is an understatement.
Ok so I have a question can I keep 1 angelfish in a pretty big 10 gallon tank
Do angelfish like bogwood
Hi Dean. I've been breeding for years.
I need albino angels! Any grade! Sold fish for years but got out of it! out of all the fish I've bread and sold the angel fish is my favorite! Believe it or not you can train them to come up to be petted like an Oscar which they are both in the chic lid family! Any help will be appreciated!!!!
Another great video of Dean very interesting and full of I information
Which Angles are the best selling?
You know I hate those huge ads for other videos. Isn't there a way to make them smaller and not interrupt the video in progress?
