Aquarium Co-Op, Could you tell me how you feel about under gravel filters, I see your tank, I've done under gravel for 30 years not knowing the entire world abandoned this years ago, It's all I know, Thank you.
I watched this video before getting my angel babies and its one hundred percent attendance when i grab the vibrabites and they all look away when I grab the flakes 😂
I had kept fish from age 5 to 30. Mostly livebearers. We could never keep Angels alive. Gave away all my tank (close to 20 tanks) and did keep any fish till I turned 39. I got a betta and a khuli loach. Had them in a 2 1/2 gallon tank. Wanted to get them a bigger tank. My BF bought me a 10 gallon for my 40th birthday. Now Im 41 and have 10 tanks. And in my 40 gallon Ive got 2 Angels. I got tgem at about quarter size now they are full grown. Im beyond proud. Ive also managed to breed my Zebra Danios and raise the fry to adulthood. Only ever breed livebears before. I owe alot of the info I learned and added to my years of fish keeping to Irene, Cory and Dean. Thank you for shareing your knowledge and helping people to keep fish better!
I'm so glad I found this video. I'm planning on revamping my dad's 50 gallon tank. The tank is about as old as the house, so about 20 years. He doesn't really take care of the tank anymore other than the occasional water change and he still feeds them. But the tank is full of algae and and the rocks are covered in algae. He had a group of tetras, two corydoras, and a few danios (I think). So I'm planning to save up the money and redo his tank for his birthday in February. I've been looking at koi angelfish because they're gorgeous. And I'm planning to do a little bit of aquascaping with a piece of driftwood and some moss to make it look like a tree, and maybe some decorative bowls with plants in them.
I’ve been so scared to get Angelfish, the misinformation on the internet is wild. This video has given me the confidence I needed to begin my Angelfish journey. Thanks for making this video ❤
Thanks for sharing Dean. I've just started my 56th year of keeping fish continuously. I have not kept one species of fish for that period. Angels are one of my staples. I have two large marbled pairs in a 55g now. I'm one month into my first salt tank. Checked that off my fish bucket list. Great informational video. Thanks again, I always enjoy your presentations.
You were "by far" one of the easiest people to listen to! I've tried to listen to other blogs about angelfish & simply couldn't finish due to annoyance. Thank you!
Anytime I see Dean in a video I get excited. He has so much knowledge and experience and shares it in an easy to understand way. Thanks for sharing it with us!
I avoided keeping angels despite their obvious iconic attributes because they were so prevalent with so many poor examples in my area. I have been inspired by Dean certainly, but also by the collaboration happening with Dean, Jimmy and Cory (Aquarium Co-op) to keep this fantastic fish. I found this information incredibly helpful to someone who will keep them for a first time and thank you all.
I really like these fish care guides with Dean. Pretty comprehensive without going too far into “the numbers” and is still easy to follow along. Hope to see more like this in the future. I also like how he mentions the culling aspect of breeding, something that I think a lot of newbies don’t consider until they actually see the fry their fish have produced.
This is such a thorough, helpful, relaxing, and generous video! Angels are on my bucket list, hope to have a tank for them in the next six months, and this answered so many of my questions in ways other videos haven't. Look forward to checking out more of Dean's videos to learn from his vast experience! Thank you!
Dean is great to listen too and has a wealth of knowledge that can only help us novice fish keepers and I'm sure experts too.thanks Dean and Aquaruim Co-op .
I have an angelfish, I've had him for maybe a year and a half or two years? Not sure exactly how long but he thrives very well with our community fish. Our community tank is about to upgrade from 20 gallons to 65 gallons, so we're excited to give him a ton more room! He's not too big yet, but he's a sweet boy and he gets really excited around people.
That’s true watching your fish grow is fun I got my read belly piranha when he was only about a few inches and I loved watching him grow and lose his black dots know he’s a big boy
Thanks Dean! 💕 Just received 4 bright orange Koi Angelfish ~ they've been on my wishlist for a while now. It's been many years since I've kept angels ~ thought I'd watch a few videos to see if there was anything I needed to catch up on. Delighted to see you sitting in front of a tank full of the little beauties! And you covered everything I needed to know (without the long winded nonsense). Thank you! 💦
Just wanted to let Dean and Cory know I accidentally UA-cam on my TV up pops this video I’m hooked like a big Mac or can’t get enough absolutely love you too
I could feel the pain in his voice when he said about culling the fry with deformities I'm having a hard time too cause I gave so time in caring for my guppy fry dat I couldn't just kill it... sad
i use to breed angelfish back in the eighties, in very soft water with a ph-6.4 85 degrees, same as discus, always bread very easy in these conditions. kept then in tall 65 gallon aquariums with a 4 inch sand substrate, with plants.
Went to your site, your angels are gorgeous! Right now I have 4 (1 marble, 2 calico, 1 silver) in a 55 Gallon community aquarium with some tetras, 3 gouramis (1 blue, 1 pearl and 1 dwarf) and 2 leopard ctenapomas. The angels are the stars of the aquarium. When my next tank is ready I will be visiting your site again!
Thanks Dean! When I was 8 or 9 I had Angels. They spawned through no skill of my own. I still like them today. This is a great video for all of us who love Angelfish.
This is the best video on Angels ! think I watched it four times.Really don’t care about breeding just enjoy watching them grow.Been doing brine shrimp that I bought at aquarium coop. Astounding product to say the less .And also loved Your Peru trip with Cory and the Gang absolutely hilarious most of it .life is good Margie B
I got them very small in size and once they grew up the first thing they did is form pairs and fight with each other aggressively, not sure how your tank is so peaceful with so many angels…😊
Dean giving out all the secrets! Why are these people the only legitimate group doing this for the rest of us? I feel like there are plenty of "watch me talk about fish" people around. But these people are also dedicated to preserving information. Its a good mix.
I've got 1 tricolor and 2 phillipino blue zebra angelfish. These are my first angelfish. They're in a 55g community tank with praecox rainbows and neon tetras. There's also 9 different species of corydoras in that tank, so the bioload is big. I run 2 seachem tidal 110s going full blast with the surface skimmers set almost to off...I like a little for uneaten food on the surface. Both hob filters have a course sponge, then filter floss, then biomedia last...in both filters. I also run a 24watt uv sterilizer to cut down on water-born pathogens.
This is a great video... I've been on a "fish forum" asking about how many angels to put into my 26 gallon tank, and everybody keeps saying "oh no, angels can only be in a 30 gallon tank!" Maybe that's if you want them to grow to be 6 inches... which I don't care about. I previously kept some in a 10 gallon and they did just fine. So it's nice to hear some common sense from somebody who isn't quite such a purist!
Karen Slater but it’s true, you need a big tank to keep angelfish. They get pretty big and that’s not up to you. Some people think they adapt to tank size, but that’s nog true. If you keep them in a tank that’s way too small (e.g. 10g), their bodies will eventually stop growing, but their internal organs won’t. This is very painful for the fish, it will stress them out in the long run and their natural behaviour will not show.
I've always loved "fancy" fat bodied goldfish. Í had a decent amount as a child. But I have also loved angel fish. But my experience ends at a couple in a community tank my mother had when I was growing up. I just never personally kept any. I've been planning a new tank now that I'm an adult and knowso much more. I was torn between doing a beautiful, colorful and entertaining tank with goldfish, or a more "grown up" beautiful and more sophisticated tank with angels. But these beauties have all the bright colors of the goldfish I love mixed with the elegance of angels. I'm sold!!
My Angels have been absolutely CRAZY about the Hikari Vibra bites! Which others did you purchase? I'm contemplating the Sera O'nip tabs & the flakes as well. 🙂🐠
You can safely use whatever you have. I'm not proud of it, but I have used empty sour cream containers and all sorts of stuff. You do not need holes in the bottom, and its actually better if you don't have them. If you want to go natural/dirt in the pots, cover the compost/growing mix or whatever with a solid layer of sand or gravel to keep it from all getting washing out.

ROFL - love how @7:00 _every_ _single_ angel has their eyes locked on Dean as he showcases the different foods he feeds them!
7:05 😂
Dean: "they also take flakes"
Angel Fish (in unison): "GIMME FLAKE!!"
I noticed that too, and rewatched it a few times!
They know their dishes 😀😀❤️
I watched this video before getting my angel babies and its one hundred percent attendance when i grab the vibrabites and they all look away when I grab the flakes 😂
Not like they had much else to look at...
Angels are sitting there looking at you talking. I have Angels as well. Love them

Massive amount of knowledge from Dean, great to learn about these angels being new to the hobby!
Years of watching UA-cam on fish and finally getting my own after watching your video! Ty!
So happy to hear the old time lapse music again 😂 bring it back!
I could feel the pain in his voice when he said about culling the fry with deformities

Love the how to with Dean! This one helped a lot as I have 40 Angelfish fry that I am raising at the moment! Voracious little appetites to!

I'm glad you said the fish food smells good! I thought that recently with some new fish food I bought. It's good to know I'm not the only one.

He's doing water changes every other day and filtering heavily.
I'm always shocked when I hear Dean share his experience. It's amazing
Really enjoyed this. Thanks for all your expertise Dean.
Dean needs some kind of fan club! Always makes me want to go and set up a new tank! I've never been that interested in angels, I am now!
Thank You Aquarium Co-Op and Dean! Very informative and beautiful content. What a generous expert with the best fish.
This was the most useful info i have watched om angelfish which i absolutely love and plan on filling my 75 with
Thanks for the information Dean. Yet another enjoyable Aquarium Co-Op video. Very nice video work too. Cheers

Nice, Dean is now in the Aquarium co-op squad 😊
Ich like the camera switch (very professional) and the focus depth in camera 2 👍
Great content Sir,, your fish really love you, whilst you were doing the video, they stayed close to you in the tank!! Really nice to see!!
my tanks recognise my frozen food packages, that being said, it is hilarious to watch the Angels staring at all those foods.
More Dean! He is the best

Love this format. More of these, please.
Great info and what a natural in front of the camera!
the most helpful vid on Angelfish around. Super informative. Great work
Finally a Guy thats making sense to me ... I can learn from more
I'm not a huge angelfish fan, but Dean's angels are gorgeous!

Wow! I love these "Dean videos"! 😀 Very informative! The angels are beautiful!!! Thank you very much!
Great video. You can tell they recognize the food when you were holding up they're all circling toward it.
Awesome. Thanks for sharing Dean. Dean is giving up the good stuff.....
I bought your recommended food for my angelfish and it loves it!
My Angels have been absolutely CRAZY about the Hikari Vibra bites! Which others did you purchase?
I'm contemplating the Sera O'nip tabs & the flakes as well. 🙂🐠
i really hope we get more videos like this with dean. :)
Your knowledge Dean is second to none many thanks
I really Like Dean, very soft spoken.
It’s the mean clean breeding machine dean!
Love his koi angels!
Your knowledge amazes me! Keep it up.
Love the potted plants. How do you know which flower pots are safe, aside from unpainted terra cotta ones?
Was thinking that same thing?
You can safely use whatever you have. I'm not proud of it, but I have used empty sour cream containers and all sorts of stuff. You do not need holes in the bottom, and its actually better if you don't have them. If you want to go natural/dirt in the pots, cover the compost/growing mix or whatever with a solid layer of sand or gravel to keep it from all getting washing out.
Hey, 50 years of experience, but only a 13 min video? Not fair Cory, not fair :P
ive just subbed only watched joey until now I think your more genuine you just seem to more keen on fish than subs new fav keep up the good work bud an keep your eye on the fish rather than subs
Great info from a clearly knowledgeable man. Thank you sir!
Gorgeous Angel Fish indeed! Thank You So Much Dean for the Valuable Advice! Stay Safe & Stay Humble! 🕯🌷🌿🌍🇺🇸🇬🇧
Best fish. One time, almost 20 yes back, had 500 silver🙂. bought them as babies and saw them growing. Spectacular
I have three in my 29 gallon they grow fast very fast , I have mine with cherry barb's and white clouds.
No..they grow to full size in at least 70-80gallon tank:)
@@galsenekovic I didn't say they was full grown when I posted that comment. I got them at dime size and within a year they had grown so much bigger so fast, that's what i meant . Wow, great video it’s good to see an expert and the way they do things👍👍
