      Kabuto Koi growth rates can vary based on factors like diet, water quality, and overall care. Generally, they grow about 10-15 cm (4-6 inches) per year. Here's a rough year-wise calculation: - 1 year: 10-15 cm (4-6 inches) - 2 years: 20-30 cm (8-12 inches) - 3 years: 30-45 cm (12-18 inches) - 4 years: 40-60 cm (16-24 inches) - 5 years: 50-75 cm (20-30 inches) They can continue to grow even larger over time, with proper care.

      Combining Rainbow Sharks and Plakat Bettas can be tricky due to their territorial nature. It's possible, but you'll need a large tank with plenty of hiding spots to reduce aggression. Monitor their behavior closely to ensure they get along.

    The Pacu might be herbivorous in its natural habitat, but take it out of it and... Jeremy Wade discovered that a displaced population of Pacu fish in the Far East had begun to eat meat, and attacking people. I can't remember now why this had happened, whether there were already too many herbivorous fish species in the habitat they had invaded, or they just found it easier to turn carnivorous. Whatever caused the change in the Pacu's diet, it meant that a piranha looking species is now patrolling the waterways of the Far East...

    Hey! I have 10 red eye tetras in a 53 gallon community aquarium, but they've been killing my guppies (9 dead) and bitting the tail of my gambas 😢 Why?? They're supposed to be pacific, they have plenty of plants, floating plants, food, places to hide etc etc

    • @AquaWorldInfo
      @AquaWorldInfo 17 днів тому

      Red Eye Tetras (Moenkhausia sanctaefilomenae) are generally considered peaceful, but they can exhibit aggressive behavior under certain conditions. One potential reason for this aggression is their need to be in larger groups. While you have a decent number of ten, sometimes a larger school can help diffuse aggression. Additionally, even though a 53-gallon tank is sizable, it might still lead to territorial disputes if the tetras feel crowded or stressed. Feeding habits also play a role in fish behavior. If the tetras are not getting enough food or the right type of food, they might start nipping at other fish. Ensuring a varied diet can sometimes help reduce aggression. Stress is another factor that can make fish more aggressive. Any form of stress, such as water quality issues, sudden changes in the environment, or inadequate hiding spots, can trigger this behavior. Compatibility with other fish is crucial. Guppies and gambas (shrimp) are generally more peaceful and have flowing tails or appendages that can attract nipping from more aggressive fish like tetras. To mitigate this issue, consider increasing the number of Red Eye Tetras to create a larger school, which can help reduce aggression within the group and towards other fish. Ensure there are plenty of hiding spots and visual barriers to break up the line of sight and reduce territorial behavior. Regularly test water parameters to maintain ideal conditions for all tank inhabitants. If one or two tetras are particularly aggressive, consider isolating them temporarily to see if the aggression subsides. If the aggression continues, you might need to rehome the guppies and shrimp or consider a different community setup that better accommodates the behavior of your Red Eye Tetras.

    Do they have a chemical defense? I had one die from an accident and tried to give to various species of catfish, sunfish and cichlids..none of these fish would have anything to do with them and catfish will even rotten chicken liver! I have never read about this but is it possible they have a defense we aren't familiar with.

    • @AquaWorldInfo
      @AquaWorldInfo 18 днів тому

      Hi-fin Banded Sharks (Myxocyprinus asiaticus) do not have a known chemical defense mechanism. However, there are a few reasons why other fish might avoid eating a deceased Hi-fin Banded Shark: 1. Stress and Illness: If the fish died due to illness or stress, it might have given off signals or had an odor that other fish instinctively avoided. 2. Unfamiliarity: The fish in your tank might simply be unfamiliar with the Hi-fin Banded Shark as a food source and therefore avoided it. 3. Natural Avoidance: Some fish might naturally avoid consuming carcasses, especially if the carcass is not part of their usual diet. It’s also possible that the specific fish you tried to feed it to were not interested due to other factors, such as being well-fed or not recognizing it as food. There isn't any documented evidence of Hi-fin Banded Sharks having a chemical defense, but fish behavior can sometimes be unpredictable and influenced by many variables.

    is gold fish good mate for ghost fish? tnx

    • @AquaWorldInfo
      @AquaWorldInfo 19 днів тому

      Goldfish and Black Ghost Knife Fish have different care requirements and water parameter preferences. Goldfish are coldwater fish, preferring cooler temperatures around 65-72°F (18-22°C), while Black Ghost Knife Fish are tropical and prefer warmer temperatures between 75-82°F (24-28°C). Additionally, Black Ghost Knife Fish are nocturnal and sensitive to bright lighting, while goldfish are diurnal and prefer well-lit environments. Due to these differences in temperature, behavior, and habitat preferences, it's generally not recommended to keep them together in the same tank. Ensuring that each species' specific needs are met is crucial for their health and well-being.

      Thanks for sharing your experience. It's important for fish keepers to understand the potential aggressiveness of Siamese algae eaters. These fish can indeed become territorial and may not be suitable tank mates for smaller, more docile species like Otocinclus (Ottos) or small shrimp. Always research the compatibility of your fish to ensure a harmonious tank environment.

    I have a three gallon tank, so I only have one tetra. Is that okay? I don't want him to be lonely, but I also don't want him to feel crowded if I give him a friend. What do I do?

    • @AquaWorldInfo
      @AquaWorldInfo 28 днів тому

      Silver tip tetras are schooling fish, which means they thrive best in groups of at least six. Keeping just one tetra in a three-gallon tank can lead to stress and loneliness for the fish. However, a three-gallon tank is too small to accommodate a proper school of silver tip tetras. To ensure your tetra's well-being, consider upgrading to a larger tank (at least 20 gallons) where you can keep a small school of tetras. This will provide them with enough space to swim and interact naturally. If upgrading isn't an option, you might want to consider a different species of fish that is better suited to a small tank.

    My rainbow shark cases my none aggressive fish

    • @AquaWorldInfo
      @AquaWorldInfo 28 днів тому

      Rainbow sharks are known for their territorial and sometimes aggressive behavior, especially towards other fish that share the same tank level. If your rainbow shark is chasing your non-aggressive fish, it might be due to a lack of space, insufficient hiding spots, or incompatible tank mates. To help mitigate this behavior, consider the following: 1. Tank Size: Ensure your tank is large enough. A minimum of 55 gallons is recommended for a rainbow shark to provide enough space to establish its territory. 2. Hiding Spots: Add more decorations, plants, caves, and hiding spots to break the line of sight and give your other fish places to retreat. 3. Tank Mates: Choose tank mates carefully. Opt for fish that are fast swimmers and can hold their own, avoiding slow-moving or very small fish. 4. Territorial Behavior: Rearrange the tank layout periodically to disrupt established territories, which can reduce aggression. If the aggression continues despite these measures, you may need to consider rehoming the rainbow shark or the affected fish to ensure a peaceful aquarium environment.

      Siamese algae eaters are known to occasionally nibble on plants, especially if their diet lacks variety. To help prevent this, try providing them with a well-balanced diet that includes algae wafers, blanched vegetables (like zucchini or spinach), and high-quality fish flakes. This should help satisfy their nutritional needs and reduce the plant shredding behavior.

    Ok i have a Rainbow shark 1 black and 1 orange or albino always keeping each other away but last 2 days the smaller black one is swimming around orange one in a strange way very strange, can these 2 breed with each other?

    • @AquaWorldInfo
      @AquaWorldInfo Місяць тому

      Rainbow sharks are generally solitary and territorial, especially with their own kind. It's unlikely they're trying to breed; they could be displaying dominance behavior. Rainbow sharks are difficult to breed in home aquariums. Keep an eye on them to ensure the behavior doesn't escalate into aggression.

    I just put my rainbow sharks in fxck sake . His literally going crazy - his attacking all the fish in the tank

    • @AquaWorldInfo
      @AquaWorldInfo Місяць тому

      Rainbow sharks can be quite territorial, especially in a new environment. To help reduce aggression, ensure the tank has plenty of hiding spots and enough space for all the fish to establish their own territories. You might need to temporarily separate the rainbow shark or rearrange the tank to disrupt established territories.

    My kabuko is weak and looks like dying. Wat can I do to make it active?

    • @AquaWorldInfo
      @AquaWorldInfo Місяць тому

      To help revive your Kabuto Koi and make it more active, you can take the following steps: Check Water Quality: Ensure the water parameters (pH, ammonia, nitrites, nitrates) are within the ideal range for koi. Perform regular water changes to maintain clean water. Test the water temperature to ensure it’s suitable for koi (generally 59-77°F or 15-25°C). Improve Aeration: Make sure the tank or pond has sufficient oxygen. You can add an air pump or increase the flow rate of your filter. Proper Diet: Feed your koi a high-quality diet appropriate for their size and age. Avoid overfeeding and remove any uneaten food promptly. Check for Illness: Look for signs of disease such as spots, redness, or unusual swimming patterns. If you suspect illness, consider isolating the fish and treating it with appropriate medication. Provide a Stress-Free Environment: Reduce stress by ensuring the fish have adequate space and hiding spots. Avoid sudden changes in water conditions. Consult a Vet: If the koi does not improve, consult a veterinarian who specializes in fish for a professional diagnosis and treatment plan.

    Do you recommend to keep it with flowerhorn?

    • @AquaWorldInfo
      @AquaWorldInfo Місяць тому

      It's not recommended to keep a Golden Chinese Algae Eater with a Flowerhorn. Flowerhorns can be very aggressive and territorial, which can lead to conflicts. It's best to keep them with tank mates that can handle their temperament.

    Polar parrot can live with Tiger barb?

    • @AquaWorldInfo
      @AquaWorldInfo Місяць тому

      Polar parrot cichlids can generally live with tiger barbs, but it's important to monitor their interactions. Tiger barbs can be fin-nippers and somewhat aggressive, which might stress out the cichlids. Ensure the tank is spacious with plenty of hiding spots to help reduce potential conflicts.

    The strobing in that intro is not a good idea. Strobing can trigger seizures in some people with epilepsy, which is why you normally see a warning on videos that contain strobing/flashing.

    Would a 30gal tank be too small if i have no intentions of getting a bigger tank? I had one of these a long time ago and i loved him, but at some point he simply...vanished somehow. Didnt find a body or anything. I have the space for a 30gal tank between the two TVs in my livingroom (one is my roommates TV one is mine). I wanted a live-plant tank with a redtailed shark. But you mention an adult should have 55gal. I suspect that means i probably should pass on one then since i definitely dont have the room for that lol.

    • @AquaWorldInfo
      @AquaWorldInfo Місяць тому

      A 30-gallon tank is generally too small for an adult Redtail Shark. They need at least a 55-gallon tank due to their size and territorial nature. If you can't provide a larger tank, it's best to choose a different species that thrives in smaller tanks to ensure the well-being of the fish.

      That's great to hear! It's not uncommon for fish with similar markings or behaviors to coexist peacefully, as they might recognize each other as less of a threat. Siamese Algae Eaters and Hockey Stick Tetras can make a compatible and visually appealing combination in a community tank.
