Your video helped me out. You made it very easy to understand can't thank u enough. I have basic knowledge but twisted a wrench here n there so videos like these really save the day especially on a budget. To all that take the time to make how to videos, keep on Doing it Please...lol..shop wanted 200 but thx to this video it was 62 bucks for both upper and bottom....
Wished I had watched this video months ago. Had the same whining sound and thought it was the alternator, but it was the top idler pulley right next to it. Idler pulley came loose and broke while driving, belt came off and left stranded off the freeway in minus 20 degree weather. Cost $150 for the tow where as the new idler pulley was only $25 and a mechanic stethoscope only $5. And it would have been a really easy fix too compared to having to remove all the ripped shreds/strands of serpentine belt that ended up getting caught in the a/c clutch and the fan clutch.
Same exact thing just happened to me, I am lucky Im driving these backroads and boom I can’t steer I about sent this thing into a barn, just cut all the belt im about to replace the belt hopefully that’s all it is
That's weird. My does this going on 7 months. It does it when I first start my truck up in the morning, then it stops. It's a total of 10 seconds. You think I should replace it?
@@autoguydiy4244 Glad to see someone has a channel about these hemi Rams. Not hardly any out there. I knew my idler went out when I was hearing that weird whining under the hood kinda like a supercharger lol. Weird thing was there wasnt much wobble in the bearing . just was making noise. sounds better now though.
SICK, was gonna buy an alternator. I got the same noise and it's making me crazy, just saved me like $280.00
Sweet

You make it look easy man. Great video, to the point. Thanks a jillion. 😎
Thank you sir.
Great video
Just did both my idlers and tensioner. Much quieter
Did you perhaps check the belt or replace it also. That new tensioner has a new spring in it. On that note it will wear an old belt out fast
@@autoguydiy4244 i didnt do a new belt but no squeals or squeaks. Dont really want to spend extra 40 or 60 on a new belt yet if i dont have to
I understand. Money is tight everywhere big dog. Just keep an eye on it pls.
Subscribed!!!
Thank you sir

What oil do you use in your ram?
Valvoline high mileage

Yes sir. Take your belt off and check all pullies. If the bearing locks up it will destroy your belt and leave you stranded my brother
@@autoguydiy4244 I'll take your advice. I tried to add you on tik tok too🫣
U didnt check the 2nd idler . :)
Commen sense tell you to check all pulleys buddy. No offense. I believe I tell you to check all pulleys also. Thank you for the comment
@@autoguydiy4244 I only messing with ya broskie.
