5:38 If I experienced that live, I would probably just die on the spot. Absolute chills.
@Joni, bro I wish! I need to see them in concert before they aren’t able to do it anymore
Agreed man, absolutely brutal!!!
Me too man
Damn, i clicked the time stamp and almost instantly i got chills, that's a fucking achivement
Mitä mies
Get well soon, James... We're all thinking of you and looking forward to seeing you again soon on that big stage.
👍
True Words Liam
My words exactly my man
Amen ☺☺
Wait, what happened?
My god that "Fed through the tube that STICKS IN ME" gives me chills every time
They would rather be dead. Put your flag up!!!
The best band I've ever seen!
Literally what I came here for
@@master-d-baters6204 same its the best thing ever
If someone is looking just for that, 3:50
3:51 we love when you do this James
CHILLS DOWN THE SPINE
Dave with cancer, James with rehab. Let's hope that legends truly persist, cause they both seemed to be at their old-age prime.
Kirk WAHmett 89 amen. So many are hanging it up around this time. Crüe retired in ‘15, David Lee Roth of Van Halen and Jon Bon Jovi both sound terrible, KISS is on their last tour (for real this time), so is Slayer.
They’ll make it. Alice Cooper kicked addiction. Bruce Dickinson kicked throat cancer. These metal gods are tough!
Let’s not forget about the man that made this music genre possible Ozzy. He’s been having a lot of health issues lately I hope they all stick around for a long time
BroncosBailey ‘99 and ozzy, he’s coming to Minnesota soon
Why is james in rehab
James' voice is immortal
Right?! He sounded amazing here
Leonardo Robles he did? Idk he sounded kinda flat in some parts.
You have to understand that this is live, and he aged, flats doesn't matter in this full packed performances
Im-mor-tal!
some peoples voice can be immortal
i’m just a 13 year old kid who’s watched this video 3 times a day for months. i wish to see metallica live, it’s the only thing i want
One day :)
Yeah man
Me too bro, me too...
Same 13 here
listen to better stuff instead
5:33 I'll love this part until the end of my days
The biggest Metal Band in the world !!!
MetalGuitarTV that’s true
People still want tere one footage
Naaa there are in the top 5 but they are not the biggest
@@ChrisRodriguez-cp3qk so who's the biggest?
@@arnaudborne6904black sabath megadeth slayer are quite better
This is why I love Metallica I'd love to see them live.
Yeah those version on yt are super good quality but... live?.... Imagine this 1000x better and 1000x louder.... no video on yt can compare to actual live :D Those double bass shaking ground and your body. If you love Metallica, you should get the first chance and go.... it's not just concert, it's unforgettable experience.
@Allen Cruce First time I saw Metallica live was 1994 in Clarkston, Mi. Danzig and Suicidal Tendencies opened for them.
@Allen Cruce I saw them open for Ozzy too! In Virginia Beach same year. August 3rd, James birthday and the end of the tour with Ozzy! So freaking awesome bro!! 🤘🤘🤘. James was still in a cast!
Yeah their the best live. I was fortunate to of seen them back in '98 on their poor retouring me. Best concert I've been to😀😀 💜
@@Jackobo6 You're absolutely spot on. I went to see then in concert. After it I was buzzing for at least a week. Fantastic musicians ☺☺😀😀
*You don't need friends when you have a Metallica playlist*
Amen
well true at some point
Yea with all the screaming you'll never feel lonely
YEAHH ! - James Heitfield
thankyou
I love that they play the "slow" part of the song extra slow then pick up the pace for the "fast" part. They actually changed the tempo mid-stream and they all did it like they been doing that for decades. Everyone has a connection to Metallica today. It's either that band you discovered back in the 80s or something your father turned you on to decades later or whatever. But I hope that generations from now, once it's not a matter of "I was there man!" people still realize this is like the Beethoven or Mozart of their era. Just top notch talent right there.
They changed tempos because Lars doesn’t know how to maintain the same one through a song. Metallica would be so much better without him.
@@HairyManDogg I understand it's popular to crap on Lars but Hetfield has openly explained the entire band chooses to shift tempos. It's not Lars' fault as much as all the haters like to say. All the members had to retrain themselves when they played with the SF Symphony to use common time.
@@HairyManDogg keep complaining lars will never leave metallica lmao
@@RandomPerson-ui3xv yeah lol no lars would mean no metallica anymore
Brilliant comments
We miss you James in Australia. Get well mate and come and see us when you at your best.
@joel ellie yeah I'd go.
I love how Rob always jams out with Lars, and makes the rhythm sound amazing while James and Kirk do their thing!!
He's making sure he stays on time but I agree lol
He brings so much energy to the band its insane! And yeah he has to work his ass off to keep up with the timing 😂
Looks more like Rob is trying to coach the weak element of the band.
same name
They say bass and drums sound better when they are together.
What an experience this was. Having been a rock/metal fan for so many years, I finally got to see Metallica on this day and my god it was everything and more.
Same dude, saw em' in Denver in 2017 and my mind was blown. Even have signed albums hanging over the desk i'm typing this from. That was an incredible show.
I can only hope they come close enough again one day for me to see them. My wife already knows I’m gonna drop more money than I’m comfortable spending to see that😎
@@1000CalorieSnackPack fucking sick, sorry for the extremely late reply but I hope they’re still hanging !
@@smoke0407 hahahaha they were pricey but you’re seeing the biggest metal band in the world so it’s expected. I’d say we’ve got at least one more tour left from them hopefully

Kirk really impressed me with that solo.
Kirk is for real
just wach it at 2x speed.
Horrible solo.
@@PlatanoQuiz horrible life

7:24 that solo is so simple... But the harmonies is fantastic
Not so simple to play though
40 Years, METALLICA
Sounds so damn good with a solid bass tone.
Sure does ☺☺😀😀
@joel ellie possibly not a bad idea but Q Prime would be the final decider for this to happen ☺☺😀
Yeah, I wish the sound guy stuck with his instincts and kept the bass on the album.
@@kevgmei It was Lars and Hetfield fault.
@@miguelrivoch I know; hence why I said that because Lars told the sound guy to turn the bass all the way down.
Can't believe James was having problems. He is on top of his game man.
Elmer MCcracken your profile picture man why 😂😂😂😂😂💀💀💀
Kinda feels like the degeneracy yields the best music. Look at Hardwired vs. almost anything in last few decades.
Its a bummer, but I'm beginning to suspect that the substance abuse is actually an artistic contributor for James. Justice was f-ing unbelievable, and he was ripped 24/7 in those days...
Sober now and seems to be even more on top of his game. He’s been unbelievable as of late.
Every one had their problems
THE BEST SONG I HAVE EVER HEARD IN MY LIFE

This song never gets old, and never will.
lars' snare sounds amazing, and so does every tone of the guitars, and so does the bass
Metallica guys are so old that these songs should be public domain.
3:50 that was powerful, such a little detail made the performance so much better
James vocals here are so good !! Stay strong Papa 🤘🏼
Not papa....but grandpa
Going on 5 years since I was there and I'm still watching it ... incredible... Metallica are the greatest
This litterally sounds amazing, James voice is on the same level as 89
Flawless performance. Kirk nailed that solo, James' vocals were on point and Lars stayed in rhythm. As a big Metalllica fan, I feel lucky to see them continuously crank out pro shot vids on their channel. Hope Papa Het gets back on the horse soon!.
lol Lars most definitely did NOT stay in rhythm. He's worse and worse every time I hear him.

Again... Please make it a Blu-ray or any other full-length release. Legendary Band on Legendary venue. What more do you need?
I agree! That show deserves a full length release. But so does any show from the arena tour. That production was something else. I don't see it happening, though. DVDs/Blu-rays don't really sell anymore. And with all that content available on youtube, they probably sell even less. It's probably not worth the effort.
wittosuaff , I want a hard copy of this stuff
I agree. UA-cam is by anything not dolbo digital 5.1 coded
It looks like most of the crowd prefer a crappy phone recording rather than watch the gig properly, so they probably don't need a quality video release.
This👆
No matter how old this band gets i will always enjoy james just putting his foot on lars drum set and chillin on the guitar
Here is proof our life's used to be fun before 2020
I wouldn't call this song "fun", but ok

I've seen Kirk. The Greatest Ever. Throw Those 1960 Guitarists Down The Toilet. Kirk Is Better Than All Of Them.... Together At The Same Time!
Something many may notice about the Mighty Het, is that the presence of his mustache improves his vocals. This is a phenomenon that Metalogists are calling "Hetfieldism".
For anyone who liked this version, go view the one live performance they did in Seattle. Fucking mind blowing.
What year
@@chillnspace777 1989 I believe. Fucking amazing performance.
Back when lars could actually play his double kick pedal… 😅 I must have watched that seattle performance like a 100 times on my old vhs back in the 90s - just mind blowing 👏
I love how kirk slowly walks closer to the crowd as his big solo is coming up
I had my Maths Leaving Certificate Paper 2 exam the Monday after this concert...
...It happened to be my best graded exam (88%).
Coincidence? I think not.
Hahahah I'd my Physics GCSE 2 days later, failed it. But would you worry?
The psychological features in life are often ignored, but they play a big role in life. It's not the same taking an exam after the death of a loved one, than taking an exam after a badass concert like this one.
Of course if you don't study daily you'll still fail the exam even if you're the happiest person alive, but it is still important to feel good emotionally
@@strigers8007 can relate big time. School and the system dont seem to recognize this sadly. In my country if you have a disease you can go to university without exams, why doesn't the same imply for mental health? How are you supposed to challenge the other students for a place at university when you have depression? Mental health matters
This is why I love Metallica I'd love to see them live.
James' voice is immortal
ahhh good old slane castle, remember when RHCP played here :) good vibes
My favorite "Metallica"'s, along with "Welcome Home (Sanitarium)" and "Until It Sleeps".
Absolutely & amazingly crushing, dominating & brutally epic! One is my all time favorite Metallica song. 🎸
It's late 2019, come on... give us 4K UHD Blu Ray and take our monies!
Holy crap James' voice was awesome in this.
Also, I think E tuning would sound better than Eb, just a side note. Great stuff either way.
There is a pitched shifted version of this video here on yt.
There you got!
ua-cam.com/video/_y8WKmk7cyY/v-deo.html
just feel it. you know what i mean
Only problem is that the longevity of James' voice will be shorter if they perform in E standard.
I like this tuning in my opinion. It makes the lyrics of pain and suffering after the war sound more tragic like the song's supposed to be.
My dad could’ve gone to this concert, he’s a 40 year old man who loved Metallica when he was younger, he still does I still don’t know till this day why he didn’t go to this concert he regrets not going now xD
Nostalgic. One of the greatest songs ever. Recollection of old memories
Best concert of my entire life❤️❤️❤️❤️
Same here I'm still in awe, can't believe lived that
Same as I still cant believe I was there best night ever
That was an excellent performance. James can definitely still do the distorted growls. Perfectly placed, too.
This concert was just so epic. Privaledged to have been there. The flames could be felt all way at the back
James your singing in this video is awesome. It's sooo melodic and intense where it needs to be. Good job
When James gets out of rehab he'll be clean cut. The long hair was nice while it lasted.
For real thats what I was thinking
RIP long hair James.

Its not like hair grows back

Ive probably watched this 20 times. And they say Kiss has the best stage shows. This tops anything ive seen. Lars and Rob are locked in!
Only 20?
I'm not a typical rock fan, but I also listen to that kind of music. However, it is unique, brilliant, incomparable, magical. Amazing! Powerful!
We cannot take for granted amazing Metallica still is after 40+ years. James still sounding great. Look at the other bands from the 80s that have fallen off..
Totally epic amazing One. Miss you guys already so much...Slane 2019 will live long in my heart.
Was there and 'One' completely blew me away. From the stageing, the sound, the war imagery... it was just amazing. Hope you get well soon James.

Thank god St anger snare wasn't used 😅😅
Best Metallica song
I can't remember anything
Can't tell if this is true or a dream
Deep down inside I feel to scream
This terrible silence stops me
Now that the war is through with me
I'm waking up, I cannot see
That there's not much left of me
Nothing is real but pain now
Hold my breath as I wish for death
Oh please, God, wake me
Back in the womb it's much too real
In pumps life that I must feel
But can't look forward to reveal
Look to the time when I'll live
Fed through the tube that sticks in me
Just like a wartime novelty
Tied to machines that make me be
Cut this life off from me
Hold my breath as I wish for death
Oh please, God, wake me
Now the world is gone, I'm just one
Oh God, help me
Hold my breath as I wish for death
Oh please, God, help me
Darkness imprisoning me
All that I see
Absolute horror
I cannot live
I cannot die
Trapped in myself
Body my holding cell
Landmine has taken my sight
Taken my speech
Taken my hearing
Taken my arms
Taken my legs
Taken my soul
Left me with life in hell
I feel so proud that this band of all bands are playing here
How tf u commented 3 months ago a video that was released today

This song gives me goosebumps, oh my god how touching the song is, x
This song was played live in Eb and not in E tuning (Standard). What a difference!
They have been playing live in Eb for like 20 years man welcome to the party
Jugizet the key of the song is still E though
I’m pretty sure they tune down a half step because it’s easier on Jame’s vocals

What an Amazing night that night was, rain stayed away, had a few pints and my 11 year old rocked hard at his first ever concert!
Epic … incredible … this is just sooo good. But why, when Metallica release so much quality footage, do people still have to record the performance on their mobile phones? Live in the moment FFS.
This! Exactly this!
These people are something else. They go to the gig to watch it thru their cell phone's tiny screen. It should be like in the late 19th century when you had to leave your guns outside the saloon... nowadays you'd need to leave your cellphone outside the venue.
gary999t because people wanna remember what they saw from their POV??? Idk old head some complaining and watch the fucking video?
Beacuse its an important memory for them?
Metallica uploads live performances but very slowly so people have to do it themselves
Their POV is the other mofos in front of them filming the show with shitty phone cameras.
The lyrics of this song tell about a soldier who lost almost all his limbs during World War I. The soldier could not hear, speak or see. And Lars Ulrich also took the theme from the 1971 anti-war drama film "Johnny Got His Gun".
