Great video. I have been using FSD in one version or another for 8000 miles. Avast majority on city streets in heavy traffic. I am currently on 12.3.6. In past versions, making a drive without a disengagement was rare. Now it is rare to make a drive with a disengagement. Still waiting for 12.4.3.
I just picked up my '24 Model 3 Performance and I couldnt be more excited. I hate road trips, especially to see family thats a couple states away. 85% of the trip is just straight highway, but I am so glad I'll be able to use the hands-free FSD one day soon when I get the update!
Your hesitation is very wise. After so many v12 software updates, the software sill makes mistakes on any challenging drive. The proof is all over UA-cam. So many FSD review videos.
I love 12.4.3.. The lane swerving is still around but rare. Occasionally it makes weird adjustments off the navigation route. I find it much better judging the speed on roads using autospeed. It feels less aggressive making right turns than it used to. However it passes most of my local edge cases. I have 2 where there is a small road before a stop sign or a stop line before train tracks. It used to stop at both lines but now it'll roll through to the actual sign like a normal driver. I spent 5 hours using FSD on Saturday it is so relaxing. One if these days I'll edit the videos together. Best part? 0 nags.
I think much of the FSD fear is rooted in people who have had zero real word experience with FSD or from v11 horror stories. I am lucky enough to only know v12. It is still not perfect but it is definitely on the path to being unsupervised sooner rather than later.
Ive used fsd a lot and this version has been the best by far. However i do not like its behavior around trucks and under overpasses. Thete were 2 instances where i had to disengage because trucks were crossing over into my lane and the car wasnt reacting to it by keeping to the left hand side of the lane instead it kept itself centered. Sure its 100 petcent the trucks fault if a collision occurs there due to their lane drifitng but still. Also i still occasionally experience phantom breaking when it goes under and over pass and is drawn into sudden darkness from a bright setting. Almost caused an accident!
So the *very* *latest* FSD software is still making mistakes that could cause an accident? Your testimony is exactly why many people will not trust FSD. Not a chance.
Schedule a Tesla test drive and ask for an FSD demonstration. Once you have experienced it in person you will understand. Because I spend less mental and physical energy when FSD is driving, I arrive at my destinations more relaxed.
Great video. Thanks! I just got my first tesla a few weeks ago and got FSD with it (12.3.6). As a FSD lover...but also with 4 strikes against me already...I can't wait for 12.4.3. I still don't understand how FSD disengaged me so many times. I make sure to be watching the road to the point that I don't notice the flashing warning on the screen. It happens even when I know my hands are on the wheel. Maybe they aren't on strongly enough. Another question I have is that several times when I have reached my destination and FSD says it has completed, it still brings up the message asking to record why I disengaged it. Thanks!.
I have had my model Y since march, the first version of FSD it had was before the full AI model. I now have 12.3.6 and I have yet to have a full drive where I did not have a intervention, or 4. I am wondering if it is something I have trained into it. I do still enjoy the system, just wish that the personality settings had more difference between them. I am looking forward to 12.4.3, thank you for sharing your video
The navigation system is FSD's biggest weakness. To be fair, I think it is mostly using Google Maps and its APIs for routing, but it isn't as easy to use as it could be. I have to plan some trips carefully, paying attention to how the system wants to route me and adding way-points to force it to use the route that I, as a local, know works better.
I was lucky enough to get in the push before it paused. I was on 14.9 too. 2024 3 AWD LR from March. You'll get it soon enough. 12.3.6 is just as good.
@@MetzTech my early drives were a bit different that I was used to. On my second day out I had more critical disengagements in one drive than I had between 12.3.4 and 12.3.6. Perhaps that one day was an outlier because it has been smooth since.
Installed on my 2024 M3. Multiple issues. Update didn’t finish properly and had a black screen. After rebooting car shows 2024.15.15 installed but it’s trying to download again the same update and it’s been stuck on 50% for 2 days now. I ended up doing reinstall using service mode. It works but FSD toggle keeps switching off every time I drive and other settings change by itself when I shift from park to drive. I guess that’s one of the the reasons they stopped rollout
@@MetzTech yep looks like a bug. Tesla service confirmed that it’s a know bug. Basically it resets camera calibration to 95% and turns off FSD for a few minutes when the car wakes up. I was working with service center and they reset it all camera calibrations for me and they even resend the update to reinstall the whole package and it’s still happening so I guess I’m gonna wait for the next update and hopefully it gets fixed
I think the car got over fine. It saw the cop out of his car and walking on the grass. Therefore no need to get over 2 more feet. Another instance the car could see better than human and better decision.
@@DerekDavis213 I'm thinking to start FSD, someone needs to be in the Driver's seat or FSD won't go, Elon knows it's too dangerous for no one to be in the Driver's seat right now Probably FSD in another 2 years 🤔 🤣 🤭 😆 🙄 🤦♂

I have fsd and I still hesitate to use it…your videos do give me confidence. Appreciate the videos👍🏼
You will get used to it in a week. I love 12.4.3.

And when do think FSD will be fully unsupervised? Full Autonomy that you can trust with your life?

Watching these kinds of videos stress me out! I can't imagine actually being behind the wheel with full self-driving engaged.
You get used to it.
You definitely do. It’s so smooth now that it’s not super stressful.
I trust it to the point that I wish could rest my eyes, but it won't let you.

How do you enable rainbow road?
It’s in the toybox
you might want to set the tentacle to solid blue instead of rainbow as it is easier to see on a small computer screen.

My 2024 Model 3 AWD LR is on 2024.14.9 and I subscribe to FSD monthly. Not sure when I'll get the new update for FSD 12.4.3. (2024.15.15)?
Same as here. Wide push seems paused.

I disagree. I think it’s noticeable better than 12.3.6
Not that it’s bad, but noticeably better

I wonder why 12.4.3 has been limited to 5% of the people with FSD and hasn't been going wide.
Seems like there is an installation bug
Tesla controls the hardware and software, end to end. Completely.
Any 'installation bugs' are inexcusable. Tesla engineers should handle that.

Like I said, purely personal preference
man, i cant wait to get 12.4, i hate 12.3 its way to cautious than v11.
Lay down in the backseat & do your play by play talking while FSD does all the driving to say somewhere busy
That might be the last trip he ever takes.

@@MetzTech I figured
Can you put a dummy on driver's seat to fool the Tesla or do you need to push a button at certain times
