Stay at 70mph etc. That being said I left w/ 80% and arrived home at night around 27%. I have to cross to mountain passes which suck battery out (same for gas cars) and choose to slow down for regen breaking. Gained miles by the end. Consumed a a heck ton less than expected.
I strongly recommend the wall connector for charging. I think it's far safer too. I installed my own (with permits/inspections) and I recommend 4 gauge wire from the breaker box. If you install a NEMA 14-50 connector, please use an industrial quality NEMA 14-50 outlet. Cheap outlets can cause a fire as I hear.
Our family owns 4 Teslas. We have been driving Tesla since 2013. In the beginning we went for the 85 kW battery nowadays we go for charging speed. So we have a Model Y Berlin made with BYD blade batteries that charges from 10 to 70% in 15 minutes at SuC. This is the way to go for road trips and otherwise we charge at home over night
Hello my friend could you help me with your experience l am buying first time tesla model y (damaged ones in iaai copart) and l want to know what type of exterior damage is considered dangerous and what types of damages can be mild ones thank you
If you can't charge at home (50% of the pop in America these days) think twice. Charging at superchargers is about the same as gas and because of the range, you will be going there once a week (at least)
Purchased my refreshed M3 LR stealth grey black interior two weeks ago!! 🎉🎉🎉 First EV. I absolutely love it, it is very fast, comfortable, quiet to name a few. Glad to be finally part of the Tesla family 😎👍🏻
I’ve searched MANY in-stock new and used Teslas and can’t find many with the white interior. I have no doubt that you’re right about them, especially with how they brighten up the interior.
Just fyi I read many owners of the white interior hate the terrible glare from the white strip on the dash. People are finding ways to change/cover it due to the awful glare. I also want white interior but worry about resale, most people prefer black.
The biggest achilles heel that I see constantly on Tesla's is the PCS module failing. This one module determines whether the battery can accept a charge at a certain amp. Many tesla owners think it is covered under the battery warranty but Tesla says that it isn't and costs almost $2,000 to replace not even including labor.
In the inventory section you forgot to mention to ask the date of production of the car. I recently ordered a Model X 2024. While waiting, they offered me an X that was produced in October 2023 vs mine that finally arrived on March 26 2024. Three things: 1- the warranty would have been starting on October 2023 instead of March 26 2024, 2- There is sometimes significant physical improvements between several months, 3- You have to take the car as it is, meaning with the options and cost associated with it
Thanks so much about the tip with the electric company. The one here in NC offers a great credit to install an EV charger. I didn’t even consider that. Great tips
Thank you for your videos, I’m planning on buying a Tesla Model Y long range because I want smaller rims for the wheels so it’s a smoother ride and your videos are amazing for my research
You really just said that you want smaller rims for a smoother ride I can guarantee you that a 2" difference in wheel size isn't going to impact how smooth the vehicle rides at any level you would notice
I didn't realize how powerful the included Autopilot was until I drove my Model Y home. I use that on the highway and in town all the time. Definitely hard to justify $12k when the included is super nice.
First point about charging at home; Not everyone has a driveway, and many people live in apartments that do not have access to charging, therefore the only solution is public chargers. Guess what? They're slow on an already slow charge time, and fast chargers are mostly occupied so you charge at a reduced rate compounding charge time problems. Also I'd like to point out it's 5mins tops to fuel an ICE car and range doesn't drop to sht if you use the A/C or heater.
I live in an apartment & plan on charging at a Tesla supercharger only 15 minutes from my apartment.. my commute is short, don't plan on needing to charge more than once every 10 days..no more oil changes / no more dealership service ripping me off.. I'm so done with ICE 😂
If you get a Ford Mustang Mach E, not only do you get a better (way better) looking interior (and exterior) but: usability and ergonomics of buttons and steering wheel controls are really easy to use, the FONT size on the Ford's large screen is readable for those who use reading glasses (not on Tesla!!) and you basically don't need these accessories ... ;)
FSD is the only reason to own a Tesla if you are in the market for an EV. If I told you you can have a chauffeur to drive you everywhere for 5+ years when you buy the car would you pay $8k? I would. I bought used from Tesla, and they 'throw in' FSD on some of their used cars. I got white seats, too. Love your content.
I was with you until the ambient lighting. Not only is that a waste of money, it can be dangerous. For optimal vision out in dark conditions, the darker the interior, the better. That idiot screen is already by far too large and complex, and at night is too bright if the light level is high enough to make it visible. I regularly drive on unlit roads at night. Darker inside is much safer. Ambient lighting hurts your night vision. The difference can be life or death, because without ambient lighting and with the dash lights low you may just be able to see, and so avoid, the moose that will come through your windshield and into your lap if you dont see it in time. If a moose lands in your lap, the moose may survive. You will not.
I thought you had to buy FSD hardware for $10000-$12000 then also pay $99 or $200 per month for the software subscription for it to work. But this video makes it sound like it's only one or the other. It's clear @Tesla needs better marketing because it's a whole new kind of car and so many misconceptions are out there.
hey Jermiah, I have a video idea, I was wondering if you could make a video about buying a used Tesla. I'm looking into buying a used model 3 since I want stalks lol.
I just bought one! I love it, 2 weeks ago. 2020, standard range plus, 46k miles on it . $22k used inventory on teslas site has some great deals right now! And I still have 4 years warranty on the battery, I highly recommend it!
Hertz is "dumping" 30,000 of their Tesla's. Some low miles and as cheap as $14k. What does Hertz know that you should know...don't buy an EV. The downside is limitless.
Really appreciate your detailed explanation on the two videos that I have seen! Really help me with making an informed decision! Especially about waiting until the last quarter and the white interior!
Cloth seats should be an option as they are far easier to clean and you don't have to worry about the scalding hot seats period. The pleather is just a garbage upgrade.
A lot of these numbers are off now. FSD now $8k, or $99/mo. I bought a used Model Y with FSD. LOVE IT! Of course, it still is being updated but pretty amazing.
Great video, today software refresh included supervised self drive! I tried both the $200 per month and the one refreshed today, they are both the same
Good advice. It's all too expensive for me at the moment, but one day I'll buy one. I don't get the hype about FSD.Sure, it's amazing and clever, but I like driving. Why would I pay a shed load of money paying for something I prefer to do myself?
This is my 2nd Tesla and my second black seats. I have never had one issue with seats being too hot, even on 100 degree days. That's probably because of the tinted glass. White seats blow.
I always find it interesting that people with black seats seem to justify their choice of seat when no one asks. People with white seats on the other hand never really say much, just that they like them.
The pricing has been adjusted. Subscribing is now $99/mo and full purchase is $8000. Enhanced AP has been axed. I really wish they had kept EAP around at $4000
Jremiah newbie and just hit subscribed. I am looking to purchase a Tesla but conflicted with buying new or used. Other dealers or Tesla site. If the price is right and rate is right I would like a MY or MX preferably 2018 or up. Any advice? Love the channel 👍
My range is pretty accurate, and i tend to get what Battery Management System says i will get. Now i do have some degradation, but i'm still well over 320 miles for a full battery...
I'm concerned about that here in GA as well. I see other EVs with the ventilated seats but they just don't compare to Tesla's strong tech hold. Tough call, guess I'll be sweating a lot lol. Do you feel the AC works well at making the cabin comfortable and if it's on constantly all summer how does that affect range? We get so many 90+ degree summer days, I'm def gonna need shades on the glass.
@jgore629 I don't know if it will cool down enough or not. The day I drove one here in Tucson, It was 105 out with clear skies. They are kept outside at the dealership. It never completely cooled off on my test drive. My back started to sweat as soon as I sat in the seat.
I have 2 EVs now and never ever thing about Range, me and wife driver about 110km eache day.. and both cars is about 80% every morning. so NO problems. and most of the year our solar charge alone on solar power from our house, so about 6-7mounth we Don´t pay any current.
A comment about buying a used Tesla at a higher price - in Turkey at the moment the basic Model Y tax-wise falls into the 10% Category, whereas buying Long Range and Performance you'd have to pay 80% (yes, not a typo, eighty freaking percent) over the official price. To make matters worse, just getting 20'' wheels will get your Rear-Drive version into that 80% range. So here it makes sense to buy a used one in that particular moment , because the inflation is crazy and you never know when all the Ys move to the "Eighty percent land" for good)). But that's just an exception, generally yeah, "New is always better", as "the only one rule" of Barney Stinson states😄
So much excellent information. When you do your next video on used evs try to focus on battery health and treatment as part of it. I think your car tracks the charge history. Just like a ice engine, treatment can make or break a supposedly good deal. For the accessories, to all buyers...be careful. The new 2024 model 3 is not compatable with a lot of it. The floor mats appear to be in that category. The app says not compatable...the website says otherwise. That goes for several accessories. Ordering the white seats is a must...totally agree.
Another home run video from Jeremiah Jones. I swear, nobody creates more information-packed vids like Jones does. I'm not in the market for a Tesla, but if I was, I would be looking at ALL your videos.
You don't stay in Namibia where your distance between places is very far. On top of everything their is no ev infrastruction but some of us do have EV's. So yes we do care about range....
Hiya Jeremiah, great video- thanks. I heard that opting for the free paint colour when actually having a preference for a premium colour can often be regretted shortly after purchase.
Your observation about availability of charging stations is probably correct near urban areas. If you have ever driven coast to coast you are aware that it can be a very long distance between signs of civilization. The sparse population would not justify the cost of charging stations.
Thanks for the raw do's and dont's of Tesla ownership guy. Test drove the 2024 Model Y and am feeling it! What does the electric bill look like for a 12k per year hypothetical 220amp charge from home?
Disappointed on how long I am waiting for my new Tesla three. Finally stopped at the dealer in Cherry Hill, New Jersey and was told that the white interiors are very slow to come out. I ordered in late January, the app now says it might be July or August before I can pick up my new car.
Another mistake. Don't buy the black or dark gray color Teska. Why? According to a report by Monash University Accident Research Centre (MUARC) in Victoria Australia, black colored cars have a higher percentage of car crashes at night due to their low visibility. The study examined the police reports of 855,258 car crashes that happened in Australia between 1987-2004. The data were taken from Victoria and Western Australia because these are the only two Australian states that include vehicle color in their crash reports. The study found that when driving a black car at night, you are 47% more likely to get involved in a car accident. 12% more likely during the day. Black wheels, black tinted windows and blacked out chrome only make matters worse. A white car is the safest color. Followed by light colored cars such as light blue, light green etc. For your safety, never buy a black colored car.
I just bought my second model x. I find horn and turn signals to be unsafe because you must take your eyes off the road to use them. I hate how my reactive cruise control has been ruined. I have supervised full self driving which causes my cruise control to change lanes all the time to maintain the speed I have set. Yuck
Not so good for me, I paid $250 deposit on a model Y only to cancel due to price, I get on line 2 days later and see that they dropped the price on the car $1800, sooo, I paid another $250 deposit to secure a car and very foolishly thought my trade value would stay the same, WRONG, they dropped the value of my car $1500 in two days, nothing changed, no extra miles, nothing. I understand market value but the minute I got the smack down on me, I did an online estimate on trade in value at Tesla and for some reason, the value was actually higher than my original trade value, $1600 higher than what they were offering in the final documentation, these games they play, I'll never deal with them again... **EDIT** After contacting them, and telling them what I thought, they raised the price of my trade to more than what the original was, so I'm happy now. I am not finalized yet but I'm still not seeing the $7500 tax credit coming off anywhere in the figures, I qualify for it, I hope it drops off at the end, can't take anything for granted it seems.
Are they doing the tax credits at point of sale? I'm wanting to get a used one and some of them are under 25k so I am hoping they will do the 4k credit at POS.
@@jgore629 I'm unaware of the $4k tax credit but I did get the $7500 tax credit at POS, not sure how it works when buying used, maybe look at govt tax credits to see if anything is available, sorry I couldn't help more.
Buys Tesla on the website. Messages from Tesla: 1. if you don't complete the 12 steps soon your order will be cancel and lose the deposit and transport fee 2. Your car will be here in a week. *arrives next day. If you don't pick it up in 3 days, we will cancel your order 3. They make you sign for it without looking at it... and the battery is defective and doesn't charge past 30% or 60 miles.... ok under warranty right? 4. Your service appointment is in a MONTH!. That sums up my buying experience from Tesla a week ago. I'm still asking if I can bring the car in sooner and not getting a reply. They should've informed me of the issue and have it fixed prior to me transferring my plates. Now im limited to 60 miles. Great!
Great video Jeremiah, I am thinking about a Model Y since I will have a level 2 charger in my parking spot in the necxt couple of weeks the equipment was just ordered. The other day I choose to drive with economy in mind. Stay at 70mph etc. That being said I left w/ 80% and arrived home at night around 27%. I have to cross to mountain passes which suck battery out (same for gas cars) and choose to slow down for regen breaking. Gained miles by the end. Consumed a a heck ton less than expected.
@@chaywarburton3488 Appreciated!
@@chaywarburton3488 Thanks!
@@chaywarburton3488 Driving over hills and mountains is one of the most rewarding aspects of using an EV.
If your job has a charger you can just connect an adapter
In the Houston Texas area we have alot of stores with free charging takes about 30 minutes to an hour to charge for free
Purchased my refreshed M3 LR stealth grey black interior two weeks ago!! 🎉🎉🎉 First EV. I absolutely love it, it is very fast, comfortable, quiet to name a few. Glad to be finally part of the Tesla family 😎👍🏻
Welcome to the Tesla Family!! M3P here. Glad you love your Tesla. If you are like me, you will never ever go back to ICE vehicles again. Cheers.
I own a Chevy bolt and I am also N.G.B to ice vehicles.
@@jgore629Not me, Black is Bland. We need choices.
🙂Greetings!
🤔Achilles tendon!
🕊🌄Have a beautifully blessed day!
Agree entirely. Once you get in the swing of operating an EV range is rarely if ever an issue.
My weekly commute to work is 100 mile round trip no I don’t have a place to charge at home. I definitely need the long range version.
White seats project your image in the car, sometimes I don't want to be seen, I like the stealth of the black seats.
I love my wife's white seats. I'll have to see how well it resist heat in the summer but for now I have roof shades. Subscribed.
In the inventory section you forgot to mention to ask the date of production of the car. I recently ordered a Model X 2024. While waiting, they offered me an X that was produced in October 2023 vs mine that finally arrived on March 26 2024. Three things: 1- the warranty would have been starting on October 2023 instead of March 26 2024, 2- There is sometimes significant physical improvements between several months, 3- You have to take the car as it is, meaning with the options and cost associated with it
Another tip: it helps to get a referral from an existing Tesla customer, they get a benefits and you get a discount or other incentive.

We live remote country. We do use close to our battery. Weve never ran out but occasionally were close. We depend on the range the car gives us.
That 40-50 miles could be a saver driving in the winter
We had our Tesla Model Y for a year now. No problems aside from punctured tires which we cannot control. Overall my Tesla Car has been great
First point about charging at home; Not everyone has a driveway, and many people live in apartments that do not have access to charging, therefore the only solution is public chargers.
So cranking the a/c doesn’t affect your outdated gas guzzler? Riiiiiiiiiiiiiiight😂😂😂😂😂😂
Not using a referral BEFORE placing your order!
haha didn't wanna come off as begging for people to use my referral but definitely agree
Or planning on using one and messing up; now it is IMPOSSIBLE for me to get them to put it on before taking delivery
Made this mistake 😔
If you have owned a Tesla or currently own a Tessie, isn't it irrelevant to use a referral code??
Unfortunately, the referral program ended on April 30th 2024.
Boomer
You should turn your headlights off too, it hurts your night vision.
If you buy a NEMA14-50 make sure it's a quality one!!!! There have been many reports of these wall connectors catching fire and/or melting.
Long range is BETTER. dont skimp on that. 340 mi is better than 270. You can still limit battery cap, the extra range = double lifetime.
Don’t worry about range! But buy this specific brand of floor mat cause they are light weight so you get better range!….😂 come on man!
LOL. I use paper towels in my 2016 MS and it helps hahahaha
hey Jermiah, I have a video idea, I was wondering if you could make a video about buying a used Tesla.
Don't worry about the stalks. Getting use to the push button happens within a few days. I no longer am reaching for phantom stalks.
Really appreciate your detailed explanation on the two videos that I have seen! Really help me with making an informed decision! Especially about waiting until the last quarter and the white interior!
Many people live in apartments and don't have access to a charger at home or at work.
Cloth seats should be an option as they are far easier to clean and you don't have to worry about the scalding hot seats period. The pleather is just a garbage upgrade.
Since when has cloth seats ever been easier to clean than leather? Are you being sarcastic lol
A lot of these numbers are off now. FSD now $8k, or $99/mo. I bought a used Model Y with FSD. LOVE IT! Of course, it still is being updated but pretty amazing.
Great video, today software refresh included supervised self drive! I tried both the $200 per month and the one refreshed today, they are both the same
You didn't recommend the wheel size. I've always felt the wheel size is a important thing that you would want to chose in ordering a new car.
@@JremiahJones You literally said that the black seats can get too hot on hot days? Hes saying he doesn't run into that issue
@@JremiahJones why ya gotta bring race into this 😂
What if you live in an apartment complex that does not supply your own charging you still have to use a supercharger what happens then
The pricing has been adjusted. Subscribing is now $99/mo and full purchase is $8000. Enhanced AP has been axed. I really wish they had kept EAP around at $4000

Gonna have to pass on tha Rainbows King, *No Diddy.*
My range is pretty accurate, and i tend to get what Battery Management System says i will get. Now i do have some degradation, but i'm still well over 320 miles for a full battery...
Where do I find the delivery inspection check list?
I’m waiting for the ventilated seats in the model y. The vegan vinyl seats are too hot in the summer here in southern Arizona.
@@JohnSmith-uz3dtSo basically you don’t own one…copy that!!😂😂😂
How about 2 Tesla with only one charger? That 50 miles does matter
I have 2 EVs now and never ever thing about Range, me and wife driver about 110km eache day.. and both cars is about 80% every morning. so NO problems. and most of the year our solar charge alone on solar power from our house, so about 6-7mounth we Don´t pay any current.
Do you pay the extra monthly maintenance on the new Tesla ordered?
Could you put the link to the charging video?
Why use your phone for navigation? You're in a Tesla!
Tesla navigation (traffic data) is inaccurate. Use Waze or Maps on your phone for actual data.

The sparse population would not justify the cost of charging stations.
real value, unlike other tesla mobile office videos trying to sell you crap on amazon
Thanks for the raw do's and dont's of Tesla ownership guy. Test drove the 2024 Model Y and am feeling it! What does the electric bill look like for a 12k per year hypothetical 220amp charge from home?

White seats are nice buy my OCD would drive me nuts.
There’s big difference between, fsd, and partial auto pilot, I rather have fsd.
Who would want a brighter led light in front of you when it is dark outside 😂
Yes, I like the unlit dash directly in front of me. I think my older eyes are less distracted (or dilated) at night.
The LED in the highlander edition dims as you drive and brightens up when you park or get out. Isn't very distracting at all tbh.
I just bought my second model x. I find horn and turn signals to be unsafe because you must take your eyes off the road to use them. I hate how my reactive cruise control has been ruined. I have supervised full self driving which causes my cruise control to change lanes all the time to maintain the speed I have set. Yuck
Agree. I had a trial and the lane changing thing made me turn it off.
If I buy a used Tesla do you think Tesla will change the seats into white if I pay?
Get em from a vehicle dismantler ... can't be too hard to swap out
Not so good for me, I paid $250 deposit on a model Y only to cancel due to price, I get on line 2 days later and see that they dropped the price on the car $1800, sooo, I paid another $250 deposit to secure a car and very foolishly thought my trade value would stay the same, WRONG, they dropped the value of my car $1500 in two days, nothing changed, no extra miles, nothing.
