"I haven't heard that (name) anywhere"
"Well I'm japanese"
"That doesn't mean anything, you're wearing a jiu jitsu gi"
LMAO 😆
Travis is a good judoka, as a teacher he reminds me of the bully sensei from cobra Kai.
you are 100% right
Quiet!!!
Yeah I get the same vibes but the dude is a wealth of knowledge. Would love to train under him
Kubinage is the term for this throw in sumo, so have heard it in that context.
Came here to say the same.
@@johnbrashear3190 Always good to see another sumo fan around these parts!
I’ve heard Kubi Nage from old school judo guys.
Kubi nage is another throw.
@@formersomethingsomething3273 isn’t Kubi Nage the Yudo name of Koshi Guruma?
@@rns7426 From what i know the Kubi Nage (Neck throw) is a different throw compared to Koshi Guruma (Hip wheel). Here is a video explaining the difference : ua-cam.com/video/xd4E-83I0qU/v-deo.html. When beeing evaluated for your black belt you should be able to explain difference between very similar throws.
@@formersomethingsomething3273 Yes, Steve has the best breakdowns, I love his work.
I was taught the same, but I was also taught that Kubi Nage was the Korean version and name of the Japanese Koshi Guruma.
Yudo/Judo.
@@formersomethingsomething3273 There is no need to explain that as kubi nage is NOT an official judo throw...
If I’m ever one the mat with Travis, number one on my “things not to say” list would be “I thought you said this was going to hurt?” 😂
I've heard of kubi nage from every judo school I've trained at since 2004. What I haven't seen, though, is the split-step entry combined with backing up to load up uke for the throw. I've always seen kubi nage and koshi guruma taught from a tai sabaki entry. This looks more direct and powerful. I can't wait to use this. Thanks for the great content!
because thats for school this is to destroy your opponent
I can tell travis gets on your nerves a little bit lol. Hes not as nice as you shintaro
Their interaction is great! Two class act judoka.
Totally! Two extremely high level judoka with super different personalities. Travis is usually pretty no-nonsense and Shintaro likes to joke around more, so their dynamic is hilarious :)
Kube nage is one of the first throws my sensei taught us. There’s a difference in the hip positioning between kube nage and koshi guruma.
And what is that ? where do you position your hips ?
I really love their interactions
I really would like to train judo but my country does not have judo teachers which is unfortunate but this types of content continues to spark my intrest would like the do this with a partner in a gym with proper instructors .
love the banter. love the technique. thanks fellas.
Amazing, thank you :)
Koga inspired hip throw. Beautiful stuff. Travis Stevens is about the only person who teaches this great technique, which is a bit unorthodox. Thank you for this.
Thank you so much for the free content!
Thank you for two
Oss💪🇦🇷💪
Shintaro and Travis in the same room! What did we do to deserve this? Great video.
Ikr? Practically giddy!
amazing video. i really like kubi nage.
5,7k views 479 likes and no dislike, both men are true idols
yes, I've heard kubi nage.
Thank you a lot for the turorial !Peace From France ! More video please !!!
My sensei calls it kube nage. Hes also japanese and has been doing judo for 65 years.
Damn, Travis always has something new !
That was awesome!
Koga style !😉
A throw Bruce Lee used to like a lot, according to Dan Inosanto.
@Big Mike aka Heavy Mike Bruce was a small guy so he wasn't a big fan of koshi waza that involved physically lifting the opponent off the ground. The kubi nage variation he liked is basically a tai otoshi with arm wrapped around the neck.
That's in fact the Koga's koshi guruma. Exactly his setup.
Great Travis... 👍
Yes, we include kubi nage in our syllabus and it is distinct from the koshi guruma in its control of cervical spine during throw.
Imagine jerking the head back up once uke is being driven towards the ground, crack!
It's guruma, not garuma.
@@danle3181 Thanks for picking up the typo!
love your videos!!
That's a gnarly throw
We use the term “kubi nage” in danzan ryu ju Jitsu.
ive heard it called kubi nage
Will you ever make a No Gi Judo DVD set?
WOOOOOW
Great video. I was thought in one of the dojo's I've started Judo ( many moons ago in Eastern Europe) Tai Otoshi that was actually ( I found out later) Kubi Nage. In my understanding the difference between Koshi guruma and Kubi Nage is foot position, in Kubi Nage the foot position is similar to Tai Otoshi.
I love how they just keep bickering. Make me haha
what's the difference between koshi guruma and kubi nage?
Muito bom sensei.
Finally, someone t throw the boss around
Nice
Yeah but does Travis know the judo chop?!
heard kubi nage from the moment I started judo
Kkk is That feeling true 😮😅😢😊
Maruyama vs Kim
Final championships in japan
Where's the wrestling/boxing match that was hyped up?
Yes the traditional name name is Kubi Nage = scarf/neck throw.
Kubi nage is NOT an official judo throw. Go check the Gokyo...
Kubi nage is not an official Kodokan judo throw. It's NOT in the gokyo.
It is kubi nagi neck throw like a headlock
Street application without a Gi?
👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👋🏼👍🏻
That's gotta be the best judo friendship ever.
Which one's Travis.
Oss
No candy cane belt, travis
No silver medal, Shintaro. 😂
I feel sorry for the guys who had a Hajime with Travis... he is rough as hell. Loool
Hiding it from the referee 🤭
Isn’t that hip throw O Goshi?
"that other stupid name" was pretty weird but dope video
I’ve heard Kubi Nage before. Gotta go against Travis on this one. Knowing the Japanese language helps a lot. Most say arigato. Some say domo. Some say kansha desu. Some say azasu. Some say nifedebiru (arigato in Okinawan language)
Hardcore Naruto & Sasuske rivalry/friendship vibes. Travis is obviously sasuke. Lol and shintaro, Naruto, since he’s got the hokage coral belt 😂
Hmmm.
It's like Judo, but with prison rules, lol...
Textbook kubi nage lol
Bonne démonstration mais pour moi c’est Koshi guruma et not jubile nage 🙁
It seems to me like Travis is unkind to Shintaro maybe, just my opinion.
He's just being friendly in a manly way, and the fact that he's usually serious makes it even more hilarious. If you see Khabib and DC videos you'll get what I mean.
lol
lmao travis is a troll
