So this is what he meant. A while back in an interview Travis said "if I can get your chest to my back, I can throw anyone in the world." It didn't click until now.
On top of his high level Judo, the guy obviously is really really strong. Look at those waves and whiplash effects on Shintaro every time he pulls him.
that's the great part about when you first start training and have no technique, the entire time you are trying to build technique you wind up building strength until your skill gets to an appreciable level. then you still build strength a bit after that but it's just the point to consider, even when you are messing up everything cus you are new you are improving in some ways
@@robbybee70 According to him, this is how he used to dominate Japanese fighters. They're trying to move around, get reaction, use momentum. If this was done by someone way beneath your skill level you can deal with it, but if the guy has basically same set of skills, you are in trouble.

These are strong throws for sure, but I don't think he would bounce so much if they weren't on tatamis. Not tatamis, spring mats. The club I trained at always called them tatamis.😂
Excellent explanation. I always learn something important. Like why I have random success. And many missed opportunity. Like when Travis explained. If you don't rotate all the way. And chase the throw around .trying to throw before you shoulder make flat contact .Byron probably told us that 200 time's. But I see how it make sense .
1. pushing and pulling opponent to make him off-balance 2. Get my back to his chest 3. If he is Smaller than you, pulling up might help 4. Don't push ass backward cuz it will push him the opposite way
His dad lost....he left Japan. It sucks watching all these comments....its like no one knows about Japan and has no respect for it..or even their own nations.
Love your videos but the audio is always way too low and makes it difficult to hear what you say. I would love it if someday you would wear a mic on the collar or something.
@LRK20 yes, it is that hard! Without perseverance and hard work, that red and white belt is hard to get and the judo federation isn't gonna just hand it to you.
Travis is such a dick, ahaha, I love it. You two are like a comedy act. Also I find the idea of using your body for kozushi, instead of pulling with the arms fascinating, gonna try that soon.
Poeple (sic) like him are usually the best to avoid if you're a serious dude yourself. He's got that no respect, "no bullshit except for my bullshit" lack of sense of context of late stage CTE patients.
In my opinion, it still works if the uke is taller. Travis's kozushi as long as it puts the uke on their toes allows the tori to load the uke's body ahead of the uke's feet kind of like a tilted board. If the uke is taller they need to be pulled further past their toes which Travis's kozushi can help with (barring odd body proportions) because the lower height of the tori pulls the uke's shoulders and head further forward (especially if weight class is the same). I think the load is longer and more nuanced, but the taller uke could also be more off balance. After the lift has started, the uke has to get their outer foot around their own toes to escape. Since the uke's knees are also blocked from moving forward the uke needs to flail or go around to get out of the lift. If the uke instead goes to tip-toes the tori should only need to float the uke forward to regain the load or else use the elevated weight and movement of the uke to get more momentum on the throw.
Interesting that Travis Stevens calls the underclasp idiotic since Jimmy Pedro seems to be a strong proponent for it. Would love a more detailed explanation for the their reasoning.
Travis is becoming a parody of himself. He's created this character and now has to live up to it constantly, I still like him though and this partnership is pure Gold! Shintaro, have you considered following Travis and charging people a 'membership' to be part of your you tube 'community'. I would happily pay the small amount it requires. Your content is so valuable and I've got a lot from it. I feel you should be making more money from your you tube video's. That may not sit with your philosophy but it would seem fair.

3:30-3:34 “I don’t have the throw.” You absolutely still have a throw...Seoi Otoshi is right there. The throw has just changed based on your position. Don’t get sucked into just doing one throw, there are other possibilities out there. Nice technique regardless.
