First quarter was 7 Raptors fouls to 3 Celtics fouls. The Celtics took a foul to stop a fast break and at the end of the first quarter they had a foul to give and took it. So essentially it was 7 to 1. I knew it was going to be one of those games based off of the first quarter smh.

This treatments been going on for years and one of the worst parts about it is no player wants to come to Toronto if they know they'll be at a competitive disadvantage
Toronto has few advantages for any player. So few that it surprises me that we've kept so many for as long as we have. Lousy weather, slightly higher taxes, NO media visibility in the US due to poor coverage of raps games down there, alien environment compared to what they're used to...

I’m from Toronto and obviously a Raptors fan and I use to follow the NBA on Instagram to follow any updates. If you actually go on their Instagram page you barley see them talk nor post anything about the Raptors. I thought I was crazy but then I realized I’m actually not crazy and I have stopped following them. I never hear anyone talk about the Raptors on how good they played a game or how the game was played unfairly. If we beat the Nets everyone will say “Oh it’s because KD wasn’t playing” but hello what about Kyrie and Harden?!? Or if we win the Bucks 2 times in a row “Oh it’s because Holiday was out” wait am I missing something hear?!? so are they saying Giannis and Middleton are not good enough without Holiday?!? Toronto never wins, because when we win there is an excuse why we win and when we lose it’s because we ain’t good enough. When people roast our team and then say “Why is Toronto fans get so upset? It’s just a roast. Chill man” well let’s just say our Toronto Raptors never got accepted since day one and still today they are not accepted and still have been talked down to. When we won the Championship everyone would say “Oh it’s Kawhi who won it for you and if he was not on your team you would have lost or never made it to the finals” or “Toronto won because KD and Kaly was out” see we never win even when we win just excuses after excuses. You as a Lakers fan I just want to say thank you for realizing that Toronto is a hard working team. We as Raptors fans will admit that our team ain’t the best in the NBA but we have faith in them. We have love for our team win or lose. I just want you to know that I respect you and again want to thank you for all the videos you post about the Raptors. You and another UA-camr I follow are the only people I have heard talk nicely about our Toronto team. Much love.

hey man I remember Phil Handy (current assistant coach w/ Lakers) who was also an assistant coach under Nurse in 2018/19 went on Danny Green's podcast a few years ago and was talking about how he has never seen a team get more disrespected by the refs than the raptors. So its not just you and you're not imaging shit. Raps play 5 on 4 every night.
The hilarious thing is Boston was barely able to hold off a depleted Raptors team. Shows how bad Boston can really be. If Toronto had just ONE of those players out, they would've won that game.

It is hard to win when you are doubled out with free throws against your team on a fairly regular basis. I do not remember a game where Raptors had twice as many free throw attempts

Finally someone in the US gets the pain we've been going through since day 1. The non foul calls has been happening for at least a decade that I can remember. You see it a lot against teams in the playoffs especially when they have a superstar like LeBron, Tatum/Brown or back when we played Brooklyn or the Wizards when the had Garnett and Pierce.
Watch some of those games at crucial times of the game where we'd get random calls against us that turned the tide of the game.
A great example of this is the series vs the Celtics in the Bubble. Nearly every game started with 2-3 key players being put in foul trouble within the first quarter of each game.

Great content on the Raptors and exactly true. This is nothing new. I have always said that the Raptors not only have to beat the team they are playing but need to beat the Refs. It is like playing two teams. Many times I have complained to NBA officials about bias Refs.

I don't know what to think of the current situation. The biggest difference I see here vs the outbreaks on other teams previously is that with this Raptors outbreak players and a bunch of coaching staff are out. I haven't heard of that with other teams (significant numbers of assistant coaches being quarantined). I feel like the team's being punished for something. When something doesn't make sense there's usually more to the story.
There was a nasty piece by NBC sports earlier this week blaming the raptors coaches for not wearing their masks

I like that you're a fan of another team and you're giving your non-biased take on another team. Raptors MOST CERTAINLY got finessed by the NBA and Adam Silver. Not just once with COVID but TWICE. They got finessed by Adam Silver 3 times total this season alone. KD was in contact with someone that tested positive for the virus and he still ended up playing against Toronto why? That was so unprofessional by the NBA and they didn't even take responsibility for that. Then this shit happened when Raptors players AND coaches are under health and safety protocols and they are forced to still play with what they have? They didn't do that with Boston, Miami or even Indiana. These teams took long breaks to help bring back everyone. Silver did the Raptors dirty by pulling this shit off which caused raptors to lose back to back games. The first shit show Silver did was essentially force Toronto to move to random city in Tampa Bay Florida where the COVID cases at the time were one of the HIGHEST in the U.S. Adam Silver should get sued for all the bullshit he has allowed against the only Canadian team in the association.
Agree with most of your comment, but to be fair, it’s the Canadian govt who takes most of the blame for the Raps being in Tampa. They have been SO slow to get on top of covid and there are significant prolonged lock downs and major travel restrictions as a result.

They had a governor who refused to promote masks. The reason the borders were closed so that people traveling unnecessarily don't incidentally pass covid-19 around. Especially when traveling to Covid-19 hot spots like... _Florida._
The Toronto Blue Jays were forced to play their season in the States... the Raptors are forced to play their season the States. There was a reason why the 2020 Stanley Cup Play Offs was done entirely in Canada despite there only being 7 Canadian teams in the league; and 18 of the teams in the Play Offs were American. The Canadian Government understood that Sports Teams Travel... thus they refused to allow those players to cross the border. The NHL started the 2021 season with four division with a single division made up entirely of the Canadian teams; the North Division.
Currently, the only division in the NHL which has yet to have a single player get Covid-19 was... the Canada only North Division. There were entire teams (Dallas, Buffalo, New Jersey) which had to have their games rescheduled because too many tested positive for Covid-19. This _proves_ that its not Canada's fault for the Raptors' Woes... It's the _Sates_ mismanagement of COVID-19.
So, please do not pass blame off onto the responsible adults when you should be criticizing the children who happen to be politicians making the calls in your own country.

Somewhat related, I just went through every game this season and counted the free throw disparity. Opposing teams have shot a total of 143 more free throws than the raptors overall.
Been dealing with things like this since the start of the franchise, can't do anything about it 🤷♂️ but that's why it was such a big deal for us to finally win a championship.

It is not only the disparity of the calls... it is when the calls are given. When the Raptors get foul calls, it usually comes at the end of the game when the game is already decided, almost as a ploy to try to even out calls.
