I see resolution on Stolas' side. He finally got liberty to talk back to Stella and kick her out of his life. It defidently improved his mood and lightened up attitude. But we defidently miss something on Blitz, and it's a problem because hes the main character

I need to know the rest of Blitzø’s backstory! What relationship does he currently have with his dad? Or his sister? Who’s the lady implied to be his mother? How’d he get his scars? What happened between him and Fizzarolli? Or him and Verosika?

    • @SaraLovelace1
      @SaraLovelace1 Рік тому +10

See, I'm not sure what's going on with Stella is "resolution" on Stolas' part. Not saying he shouldn't have stood up for himself, but the way he's gone about it is very impulsive and a bit manic, and not in the normal manic Stolas way.
It's apathy. It's "fuck it lmao", it's "screw everything and damn the consequences" and it's still a very dark place to be in mentally.
I don't see resolution on either of their sides yet, I just see a dysfunctional relationship in which a Major Event happened and is being swept under the rug in order to maintain both of their own equilibriums.

@@SaraLovelace1 I. . .think I see more of dysfunctional behavior on Stolas part. But by "resolution" I didnt mean "end to his entire conflict and all of his problems". I just meant that as of right now Stolas didnt realy felt cinsequenses catching up to him. His mood was lightened up by talking back to Stella, sure, its euphoric for him, but its only temporary happines that should disappear as soon as realization hits him.
But I acknowledge how his conflict at Ozzie was almost completely ignored.

While blitzø’s the main character, it doesn’t mean his story should get fast tracked. It is also important to show the stories of other characters and their personalities to define them. Blitzø’s story is going to continue along with the other characters (mostly Stolas) and react to each other differently due to what’s happening in their lives. It’s just general character progression that’ll likely effect their behavior.

If the 2nd part is suppose to be the Hellhound Party with Loona & Tex, then I imagine Blitzo inserts himself into the situation, embarrassing her at some point. Remember how in Episode 2 of Season 2, Loona talks to Octavia? How she was saying dads fuck up all the time? Maybe that was to point out how Blitzo acts at this party. He goes there worrying about how Loona will mingle with others, being very overbearing, until she snaps at him out of embarrassment.
She yells at him to leave when she learns he was spying on her. They talk at the end of the episode about what boundaries need to start being put in place in their relationship, and drive off back to their apartment on a mellow note. Season 1 ends, and the next time we’d see how their communication has improved is the “The Talk” they had about her anger management with clients in S2E2.

This really explains something that I’ve been trying to put into words.
Blitz and Stolas refusing to acknowledge the elephant in the room is perfectly in character for them both because they are far too dysfunctional, both as a couple and as individuals, to be mature enough to deal with the fallout of Ozzie’s.
Mix that with them both having a situation that they can use as a valid excuse to avoid talking and the second ep makes more sense. Blitz would never willingly admit there was an issue because he wouldn’t want to appear weak and Stolas doesn’t seem to even know what a real relationship looks like, much less what to do when there is a problem in a relationship; so them acting business as usual is the best solution this pair of emotionally repressed idiots can come up with.
It doesn’t perfectly explain away the refusal to deal with the problem but it isn’t entirely out of character either

As someone who has seen this in my own family. you are right on the money. Dysfunctional relationships will only acknowledge a problem when it grows to big to ignore. what happened at ozzie's is barely a bump in the road of their terrible romance. They might talk or deal with it later, but If this is very recent after that then it makes sense for them to just ignore it and pretend nothing is wrong.

I feel like the jarring switch between Stolas having fun and freaking out in the van were supposed to be that big shift like we saw in Looloo Land (just now Blitzø sees him go from fun to serious about his daughter). But I do agree that the shift wasn’t as well handled as in episode 2.
In episode 2 we could see how hard Stolas was trying to please Octavia and have time with Blitzø to the point of ignoring how they were feeling, up until Octavia looses her temper. Then he finally goes “Oh shit, this is serious - my daughter is hurting”.
Here, I think they could have done that if we were provided a reason for him being so chill before finally loosing it. Maybe have him barely holding it together at the beginning, only to relax when I.M.P helps out bc he genuinely think that things will be okay now. And as the episode goes on he begins to fray and fall apart - THEN the van scene is his break down.
I think that would do a better job of highlighting how they both are focused on something else more important but still hiding from what’s really going on because they’re afraid - which could parallel their own relationship nicely.

  • @finaldarkfire
    @finaldarkfire Рік тому +48

I think one reason for Blitzo and Stolas to take such a massive detour and get caught up in shenanigans ties into this theme of the episode of fathers being MASSIVE screwups and still genuinely and unconditionally loving their daughters. And by extension, also setting up Loona as being the kind of truly close, dependable friend that Octavia desperately needs in her life right now. Note how it's LOONA that does all of the actual legwork in finding Octavia (right down to figuring out she was in LA to begin with) while Stoals and the imps get sidetracked, and is the one to give her the emotional support and connection that she needs in the end. So in that sense, Blitzo and Stolas ending up being kind of useless feels like part of the point.

  • @itsnotthatdeep6657

I mean when Blitz and Loona got into an argument, Loona did comment in the end, "yeah, I'm fine... He'll get over it... He always does." And he was basically over it by the end of the episode. We've seen this pattern before of Blitz completely looking past arguments like they never happened. He's learned to mask his feelings and repress his anger until he just forgets about it. If I'm only 19 and physically can't prevent myself from doing this exact thing, I know that he, as an adult, most certainly can't help but do this. This is something that when it happens long enough, you physically, mentally, and emotionally forget how to express yourself instead of repress yourself.

I feel like the fact that Stolas and Blitz feels off in this episode is due to the fact that we haven't really seen them in a more "casual" 1 on 1 instance. LooLoo Land mostly had them flirting and Stolas focusing on Octavia, and Ozzie's had a one sided type of feel with Stolas actually trying to have a proper date while Blitz is more focused on the M&M's. They haven't had a on screen moment of how they act together without flirting, and I think that is why it feels weird with how casual they are trying to be in this episode. For all we know this is how they act together when they aren't overly flirty or sexual with each other, that this is there normal when theyre just hanging out. And we have seen at least one photo of them either just casually hanging out once or uh- relaxing after a booty call, there is definitely very VERY tiny hints at something more casual between them, and I feel like it could have been more beneficial to see that before this episode to compare how they act casually to how they acted in this episode.

In a way i feel it proves her point right of how Stolas cares more about Blitz then her, since as you discussed in the video (12:20) since stolas isnt shown to be as worryed about his daughter as he should be, choosing to spend all day watching Blitz preform which is something i didnt like. And at the end when lonna tell her "But hes trying" felt hollow since it wasnt better shown that he does care in this episode and in a way justify stolas actions without properly addressing via trauma . It would have worked better if the episode showed stolas be more worried about his daugther and thinking about how his actions affect her rather then continueing to do the thing that casued the issue in the first place(along with giveing octavia more screen time and allow her to show some agency in her feelings)
( Im not saying that stolas hates or never cared about octavia since that isnt true, but its more "Tell then show" to where were told one thing without it being properly illustrated in the episode its self)

Here's the thing. It's possible that they tentatively put a bandaid on their relationship in the finale, without it having to be the focus of the episode. Like a throw away phone call return to the status quo but not really because consequences. It might take place during or after episode 1 of season 2. Just my thoughts though.

What would’ve worked would’ve been a 7 second scene after stolas rushed to the office that goes something like.
S: [stiffly] “Alright then let’s head to the human world right now. Let’s go blitzy- Blitz. Ahem. Blitz. That’s what I meant to say”
M&M: [to Blitz] is everything okay?
[flashbacks of stolas drinking after ozzies and blitz comically sobbing on the couch]
S+B: [talking over each other] EVERYTHING IS FINE WE’RE TOTALLY FINE NEED TO LOOK FOR OCTAVIA LETS GO GUYS aHahahAa..
Lighthearted enough to fit with the episode but still addresses the continuity issue. And we wouldn’t have to speculate where the characters stand.

Here’s how I’d “fix” this problem:
Blitz has just yelled to Loona after being kidnapped, both he and Stolas are still in the van.
    “She’s in good hands!”
“Blitz.. About the other night at Oz-“
“Stolas, how ‘bout we focus on finding your kid for right now? ‘Kay?”
Stolas gives a forlorn nod and then the episode continues as usual.
Octavia is returned, hugs Stolas and “I’m so sorry for forgetting” and whathaveyou like in the episode, and then Stolas looks over at Loona and Blitz.
    “Thank you. Both of you.”
Loona pulls out her phone and ignores him. Blitzo, however, returns a slight smile, opens his mouth to say something, but gets interrupted by the fireworks.

When Stolas brought up Moxxie's Phone Number, I was led to believe that they'd bring up Ozzie's more often. I do enjoy that they were ignoring it. Like you said, it's in character that they'd ignore what happened at Ozzie's, but maybe more casual arguments like with Moxxie's number would be more welcome. Like show me that they're not over it entirely, show me that they're in a middle of a fight and have them argue more

Honestly the biggest hint that the Ozzie's fight even seemed to have happened was that Stolas just called Blitzø by his name and not Blizty. Stolas started just calling him Blitzø at the end of the season 1 Finale.
But otherwise it doesn't feel like much changed for them. It just feels like this episode wasn't supposed to take place just after the season 1 Finale. I know it's not but it just feels weird.

To me it felt like we missed an episode where they acknowledge the breakup. Because in this episode they are acting like "exes that still have feelings for each other but are functional pretending they're good friends". By that i mean it's pretty obvious they still love each other, they both blush pretty often, but also Stolas never says "Blitzy" and seems less lusty overall, like this belongs to an old relationship.

I agree with you when it comes to the urgency and lack of awkwardness between Blitzo and Stolis. I feel like the premise of this could have brought them together whether they wanted to see each other or not. Octavia getting ignored by her father and goes to different places trying to find the stars. And they try to excuse Stolis not using his powers because he doesn't have the book. Another draft or direction could have helped it. I loved the Luna backstory moment, saddest moment in the series to me, and I loved the sisterly bond between her and Octavia.

I get the feeling that (though the show likely won't address it), what Stolas spent his entire marriage doing to Stella (putting up with her bullshit)...Blitzo does with Loona. She is constantly shown to not respect him and have zero hesitation berating and outright abusing him. She smiles when he isn't looking, but outside of one instance (Spring Broken), she never shows any hint that she cares she is abusing her adoptive dad. Who just enables her because he almost never claps back. He's clapped back exactly once (See The Stars) and that actually got Loona to back down. Him trying to play diplomat and peacemaker (or caring father) only invites more of Loona's abuse.
I really hope the show DOES address this because it seems hypocritical for Stella's abuse to be demonising...But Loona's abuse is played for laughs.

Also for the end of the episode with the fireworks, they’ve seen demon power signals, but humans aren’t known to have that power in modern times. But maybe it's Stolas way of preparing to distance himself or in progress of making those Asmodeus crystals so he has stopped being overly sweet and clingy towards Blitzø now.
Stolas blushing more often also shows he's more self-aware now. And his sprinkle of endearment like "darling" in his sentences seems like it's just a part of his personality or habit so I didn't find it off. And Blitz is just blatantly ignoring the whole thing just like he ignores his problems with verosika (even though we know they still haunt him and hurt him). He avoids intimacy and pain, he'll probably just try to stick to what stolas and him had, that's the easiest choice.

This just feel them trying to do "forced proximity" for Stolas And Blitz.
How the ep played out felt jumbled and force. Like they were just looking for an excuse to cram Stolas and Blitz together and reenact how Stolas first fell in love with Blitz.
Reminding him on why he loves blitz. And to not give him the asmodian crystal. To hold on to this relationship and not give up on it.
Also Stolas never really talks back to blitz. There used to be some sassy doting but not in the way of "calling blitz on his bullshit" kinda way.
Also Stolas had ways to determine where Blitz was in Truth Seekers. "I have my ways" He could probably do the same.
The whole episode was "in character" for him but it also doesnt make sense. It's either Stolas being a worried dad was an act and he was taking advantage of the situation to determine if he should stay with Blitz or not because he knows he wouldn't have this chance ever again since Blitz is obligated to find his daughter since it was his fault in the first place she got the book.

He knows if he leaves Blitz to deal with the whole sitcom (cause he can) he'll lose the opportunity to validate him staying and pursuing Blitz. Theres a clear distinct change in his personality thats because he's torn (he knows she's safe but would rather not let her wander on her own) but Blitz doesn't
As a father himself he feels guilty, Stolas took advantage of that.
To keep holding on to Blitz

i honestly agree! while watching the episode, i immediately caught on the weird pacing and confusing tonal shifts. The season 1 finale and the first episode of season 2 was filled with so many heavy emotions and tension between Stolitz, but this episode was a little bit of a let down because all that tension kinda just poofed away. I hardly believe it was written that way because of the plot of the episode (octavia stealing the book and all). Stolas was distracted with human things instead of having full focus to find his daughter, which is very uncharacteristically for him to do. my theory is that the episode was really rushed to compensate with the lost episode. Which i think made the episode lack consistency not only within itself, but for half of the whole series. But viv is a great writer and im sure the next episodes will probs be 1000x better than the last one

I actually agree with all of your points, I thought there was something off about this episode when I watched it. Between disregarding the Ozzie's episode and the way humans are animated in this show in general, it just felt a little weird to me, like it didn't fit with the rest of the series.
Human Stolas radiated twink energy though, and Loona and Octavia finally got to meet so not all bad

Its still a banging episode. But it was still really odd to see them so close after their fight in episode 7.

i kind of think it’s that as much as Stolas wants to find Octavia, he has a lot of things up in the air in this episode. He’s in the middle of a divorce, his boyfriend and him are fighting, what will the public think of him, and he can’t necessarily wreak havoc in the living world due to some sort of hell law. I believe due to the divorce in some way Stolas is trying to give Octavia some semblance of space so that she can understand what all is going on in her life because at the end of the day with Stolas’ power he could likely find Octavia in any world any dimension with ease. I think in a way Stolas is trying to mend his relationship with Octavia and Blitz all in one go. Through this process Blitz starts to take note of how he’s finally starting to have meaningful relationships in his life but is likely scared because none of his relationships with anyone has ever ended good.
that’s my take or maybe self projection who knows

I think episode 8 of season might be a moment where Loona bonds with Blitz and the M&M kept an eye on him. So they just partied.

I think the reason stolas didnt just portal out of the truck was bc as he said his magic up on the surface is weaker especially without his grimouir

I find the writing of helluva boss to be all over the place with no structure and especially stolas and blitz. There relationship just feels tack on the show with no build up and I find it strange that this is the big driving force of the show, when we barely know how this world works. I do like some parts of this show, but the writing could use an overhaul.

For me I wish people wouldn't crap on her work in all honesty it's too early to cast judgement because it's obvious we missed something with the second part blitz obviously has a deeper understanding of stollas something was discussed between the 2 of them between ozzie's and now that we couldn't see because of the missing episode how do we know if stollas moving her stuff out isn't after the divorce which occurred when blitz fell out the window that's all dialog that followed so yes let her finish the second part it should all clear up nicely

Given how emotionally charged the previous episodes had been and the personal hell that Stolitz faced, it makes sense that this episode had taken a step back from the drama. It's a given that the elephant in the room will eventually be addressed, but now had not been the right time. Plus, it cute that this misadventure had helped reestablish to Stolas why he had fallen for Blitzø in the first place.

Yeah, this episode did feel weird. The resolution to Stolas and Blitz's fight felt off - like the entire thing got lampshaded. I'm sure it will be discussed at some point, but, I really feel that we should have SEEN the resolution and not be TOLD that there was resolution.

Yeah, the pacing and tone felt off for a lot of the episode despite how much I enjoyed some moments. I do agree that it's in character for Stolas and Blitz to act as though everything is normal, but it would've helped the flow of the episode if they included a few moments of awkwardness between the two, especially since it's not like they had any past experiences of a big blowup between one another specifically to be able to quickly pass it off or something.
