With the closure of The Simpsons Tapped Out, it wouldn't surprise me if they were ending the show. And because they have literally covered everything, it wouldn't shock me if the ACTUAL season finale was at the end of this season.

The show premiered about 2 and a half months before my third birthday. I remember finding it amusing when I was in fourth grade and 10 like Bart. I'm now older than Homer was in the first 7 or so seasons (since they kept aging him up).

SHORT ANSWER: No, The Simpsons hasn't really ended. The show tricked fans by airing an episode that seemed like a series finale, but it was just a prank. Everything went back to normal by the end, and the show is still continuing.
Who honestly gives a fuck anymore? Who has given a fuck about anything the Simpsons have done in the past 10 to 15 years?
This isn't the first time we got an episode we suspected may be the series finale. There was also "Eternal Moonshine of the Simpson Mind" way back in season 19. The ending featured the words "The End" on the back of the cruise ship and a dinghy with a question mark on it. "Holidays of Future Passed" from season 23 was also written as a potential series finale in the event the show ended.

It would be so disrespectful for one of the voice actors giving near 40 years of their life to a show only to die and not be able to see how it ends
Marge's VA has been losing her voice for years and we don't know how long Julie Kavner can handle it until she can't talk anymore.
I've been saying similar things about that for this show for a long time. Some voice actors of this show died as years passed and with how long this show has gone on for. All these voice actors aren't going to live forever and if any of the voice actors of the show, be it a minor or major one, were to pass on, what are they going to do then? Replace them with someone else or just write them out as dead and never make an appearance again but only be mentioned and appear in flashbacks through clips. It would be better for the show to conclude while everyone who voices the characters are still alive then it would to have it end abruptly when a voice actor of one of the major characters passed on. Same can be said for some animated shows that are still going. I'm surprised that they haven't ran out of ideas for more new episodes and seasons.
They would replace the actors, because in SpongeBob, the creator died, but they kept the show on.. and on.

Little do people remember that the Simpsons started in the 1980s on something called the Tracy Ullman Show. I watched back in the day and used to love the prank phone calls to Moes Tavern.

@@radrobd123 this was doing the late 80s I was around 5 or 6 years old when the Simpsons first aired on TV the characters were goofy looking in there early development but over the years they have gotten better yeah I love the 90s Simpsons it was really my childhood era.
I love how Tom Hanks actually voiced himself and Danny DeVito actually returned to voice Herb. Not surprised at Cena since he loves voicing and making fun of himself, just look at the Oscars this year.

Even before watching the video, as someone that hasn't watched the show for years, it clearly wasn't ending. You don't start a new season with the series finale because, as you say, there's clearly more episodes to come after it.

Homer and Marge, now older and visibly weary, walk into a sterile clinic. They’re greeted by a nurse who leads them to a futuristic pod labeled DeathPod XR.
Marge:
"I guess we’re the first ones in Ohio to use this, huh?"
Homer:
"Yeah, but hey, at least we’re doing this together."
They step inside the pod, holding hands as their life slowly fades away. The camera lingers on their peaceful faces as the pod closes.
[Cut to Sideshow Bob]
Sideshow Bob, having survived the chaos, stands at the airport with a ticket to Germany in hand.
Sideshow Bob (monologuing):
"After all these years, I thought Bart Simpson was my greatest enemy. But it was this cursed town all along. Off to Germany, where they appreciate a man of my genius."

I’m actually glad the show is not ending. I lost my brother recently and we used to watch the Simpsons together so much!! I hadn’t watched it properly since he passed as it was a huge comfort show. As hard as it may be watching it on my own now. I am so glad they have a new season.

That...that would be an idea, like that one Simpsons epsiode where they put side characters into new tv shows.....I think, that's what they should do if theywant to keep its suffering life going, istead of finishing it, like make a whole Simpsons Universe, like Marvel with differnet tv shows based on different charcters from the Simpsons....like what they tried to do with the Cleveland brown show with Family Guy.

2:43 I really hope animators get the respect they deserve as we love seeing all of their hard work that they put into the animated films they work on shown on the big screen. And we certainly do not want AI to ruin it with all that crappy looking AI animations.
I agree. Kudos to the animators for fighting back against the studios. My hope, though, is that Congress (after the election) sets up the "AI guardrails" the European Union set up. AI can be a useful tool, but it should make human workers lives easier, not replace them altogether.

It would not shock me if the show does end this season and this was a hint to that. I tihink the last Ep ever well be a Christmas EP this show started with one on December 17, 1989 with Simpsons Roasting on an Open Fire,
Ending with one would be them coming full circle plus if this season is full of more call backs I think it is another a good hint again that its over the Tree House EP well be telling, if it feels like an early seasons one,
What more is left to tell, there are 769 EP as of this writing that is a lot of ep for syndication.
Or a Christmas Themed Movie for a Giant Epic Send off.

Tbh the series finale is a long time coming. When i read the headlines, my first reaction was "UGH FINALLY!" They should just really end it while they're at it because the whole show is just basically beating a dead horse at this point. Not just a dead horse, a horse that has already decomposed and has turned to bone and ash a long time ago

I wanted to leave my two cents on the episode at the cost of sounding derivative
This episode is such a punch in the gut from the show's writers that I'm still caught off guard by how actually far more meta it is compared to its own premise. They've been gradually wrapping up the whole packet since around the last ten seasons now, this episode is just a consequence of a series finally looking back at its legacy and struggling to tell fans that it's time to let go. I still believe it can graciously die on a bittersweet note, like in its sleep. It's genuinely interesting where The Simpsons is heading now in its end of life unbeknownst to most, it really reminds me of why it became a cultural phenomenon in the first place.

I don't like how they have joked about "oh fans were even saying the show used to be better at episode 1". It acknowledges that many people notice a problem with the new Simpsons compared to classic Simpsons but they refuse to do anything to actually take it to heart or address it properly.
@@justamaggot5870 They aren't entirely wrong though, critics of the show from avid fans date back to the very early seasons, still I'm glad that they didn't go in that direction in the episode and that it kind of resolves into a single joke, because who the hell wants to watch a show that shits on its viewers?

3:00 Weird selection, since not all "TV Shows" are created equal in terms of their "last finale".
Because it's really only the Sitcoms with no or barely any plot progression (like The Simpsons or Married with Children) that could easily go on forever.
Others are bound to come to an end, like Breaking Bad, The Wire, Better Call Saul or Game of Thrones.

This was scary because for anyone who’s played The Simpsons Tapped Out for the last TWELVE YEARS, EA just announced that they are ending the game. The servers will go offline in January. They did this three days before the episode, and they usually have events based on the new season.

I can't believe tapped out lasted so long. I was tapped out playing it in 2012. Played it maybe 3 to 6 months. A friend and I had our wives tap our cellphone for like over an hour. It got to the point it went from fun to being tortured.

Absolutely loved this episode. When I saw Conan’s social media post about watching the episode that day and saw it was the “series finale”, my heart dropped thinking this was the final season (not episode, but definitely thought this was the show was really coming to an end). This was a brilliant episode on what a final episode could be.. and the return of Homer strangling Bart was the icing on the “floor cake”. The writers showed they can return that charm of the Simpsons.

The show needs to end. Its not a quality issue, its a reality issue.
The VAs aren’t young. We’ve lost many of them already. But what are they going to do when one of the main four die? And get mad all you want, but IT WILL HAPPEN.
End the show this season. Make yearly or seasonal specials instead. This allows it continue but gives the fans and the studio the out it needs for when one of the main four is unable to continue for any reason. The fans have a series finale and the studio can keep printing money.
I haven’t watched every new episode, but I’ve watched a few. Some are good and some aren’t. The show could exist indefinitely that way, sure, but only if Disney AIs the voice actors, AND THEY WILL if we let them.
If you AI Homer ad infinitum, them by all means, keep watching and demanding more seasons, because that’s where it leads. Me, i’d rather the actors be allowed to have a grand sense of off and not be digital corpse puppets for eternity.

I can either see 36 being the final season or letting the show get all the way to 40 and ending the show on a high note there, but the ending of tapped out is kind of a sign that simpsons maybe finally coming to a close

[Cut to Springfield Streets]
Chaos reigns as regular and Super Carnivorous Zombies storm the town. The streets are filled with destruction. Santa’s Little Helper and Snowball III attempt to flee but are quickly cornered by a group of normal Haitian immigrants who turn into zombies and devour them.
Homer (running out of the house):
"Nooo! Not the dog and the cat!"
Suddenly, Dr. Hibbert is seen running from a horde of Super Zombies.
Dr. Hibbert (terrified):
"Well, this seems to be the end for me, hehehe... no more chuckles!"
He’s cornered and eaten alive by the Super Zombies, who roar in victory.
[Cut to Burns Manor]
In a strange twist, Mr. Burns is now seen wearing white robes, glowing with an almost holy light.
Mr. Burns (to Smithers):
"Ah, Smithers, I’ve realized that money can’t buy everything. The world is crumbling, and I must become a beacon of hope, the most righteous man alive."
Smithers, looking confused but loyal as ever, follows Mr. Burns, who hands out gold coins to the remaining citizens of Springfield.
Mr. Burns:
"From this day forward, I shall use my wealth for good! A holy transformation!"
[Cut to the Simpson Backyard]
Bart is seen riding his minibike, trying to avoid zombies. But as he speeds down the street, he loses control, crashing into a lamppost. The scene freezes in slow motion as Bart is thrown from the bike.
Homer (voiceover):
"Bart always lived life on the edge. He thought he was invincible… but minibikes… minibikes are dangerous."
The camera zooms out as Bart lies motionless on the ground. The family mourns his sudden death.
[Scene Cut: Maggie is Kidnapped]
Maggie is playing outside when a shadowy figure sneaks up behind her. It’s the infamous SHORTLEG KILLER, a mysterious serial killer that has haunted Springfield for years.
Marge:
"Maggie? Maggie!! Where are you?"
The camera zooms in on Maggie’s pacifier, left behind as the SHORTLEG KILLER disappears into the shadows, leaving the family in shock.
[Flash-forward to the Future]
Lisa is now an adult, standing on the steps of Springfield's City Hall. She’s won the election and is now mayor of Springfield, Ohio, her dream fulfilled.
Lisa (in a speech):
"Springfield is my city, and I will restore it to greatness. I’ll stop the zombies, the destruction… and bring Springfield back to its rightful glory!"
She raises her fist to the sky, filled with determination as Super Zombies lurk in the background.
[Cut to Homer and Marge]
Homer and Marge, now older and visibly weary, walk into a sterile clinic. They’re greeted by a nurse who leads them to a futuristic pod labeled DeathPod XR.
Marge:
"I guess we’re the first ones in Ohio to use this, huh?"
Homer:
"Yeah, but hey, at least we’re doing this together."
They step inside the pod, holding hands as their life slowly fades away. The camera lingers on their peaceful faces as the pod closes.
[Cut to Sideshow Bob]
Sideshow Bob, having survived the chaos, stands at the airport with a ticket to Germany in hand.
Sideshow Bob (monologuing):
"After all these years, I thought Bart Simpson was my greatest enemy. But it was this cursed town all along. Off to Germany, where they appreciate a man of my genius."
Sideshow Bob boards the plane, looking back one last time.
[Cut to Krusty the Clown]
Krusty is packing his bags, ready to leave Springfield for Israel. He dons an IDF uniform.

[Final Battle: Lisa vs. the Super Zombies]
In a climactic battle, Lisa stands alone in the heart of Springfield, fighting off hordes of Super Zombies and normal Haitian zombies. Armed with nothing but her wits and a makeshift weapon, she fends off the attacks, determined to save the city she now governs.
Lisa (yelling):
"Springfield will rise again!"
The battle rages on, but Lisa emerges victorious, standing amidst the chaos, bloodied but triumphant.
[Last Scene: Future Springfield, Ohio]
Years later, Springfield has been rebuilt under Lisa’s rule. The camera zooms in on an older Lisa, now firmly entrenched as the Mayor of Springfield, Ohio. The town is peaceful, but the scars of the past remain.
The screen fades to black, and one final message appears:

Springfield, Ohio? I honestly thought that the Springfield this show is referring is in Oregon since the show’s creator based it on his hometown of Portland, Oregon. Probably why I have a fan-made professional basketball team based on the show (Portland Searchlights).

Dude, I’ve been watching The Simpsons ever since thoroughly 2000 and ever since I could understand when I was five years old, I watched them for years with my uncles, and I absolutely love it, especially the treehouse of horrors!
Frankly, I think the Simpsons should go on for a while longer, but still it’s kind of sad. I want to see more treehouse of horrors.

I could see an episode like this working around 10-15 years ago. Back when it had been on a long time, but not a huge amount of time. Now it feels like a final episode, should be a final episode and not some joke.

@@eduardopantoja9115 A lot of people are forgetting that EA's contract for Simpsons rights has been rumored to be ending in 2025. Universal's contract is 20 years long (2008 to 2028) and so people think EA's is probably 20 years as well. Since it was signed in 2005, that means it probably ends next year. This lines up with Tapped Out being shutdown in January, 2025. Anyways, those contracts were made before Disney got involved. When Disney bought Fox Studios, that includes any ongoing deals. It's possible that it's Disney that does not want to renew with EA, rather than the other way around. There's more angles to this.

Actually Matt Grading does have plans for him.... they just need the right actor. Also the report of removing him was confirmed to be not true years ago. The only reason we haven't seen him outside of cameos is because his original actor left out of guilt.

I last remember seeing Simpsons on TV when visiting my father a year or two ago, and it was only on because he'd fallen asleep while watching sports. We'd all been avid viewers in earlier years, now I don't know anyone who still watches, and wouldn't have known about the episode at all without an unusual UA-cam recommendation. This show has declined in relevance for so long, I'd rather they have cleaned up this episode and made it a real ending. Risks that could cause an abrupt stop worsen nearly every year, so why do they continue?

To be honest at this point I want a season finale, just like a entire season of the simpsons except the simpsons, like each episode is focused entirely on a side character or a couple side characters and each of them get their good ending or their time because they part of the simpsons show, but I want to make sure the creators of the show also make sure their episodes make sense and stay a bit Canon like a little change, like for Example Homer becomes a better father and husband but he still has his same qualities like his eating habit, this way each character has a fair amount of time to ge their closure without making it feel sped up, and then at the final episode it ends at Christmas focusing on the simpsons family entirely
