I think this is Octavia's first time seeing Stolas actually snap back at Stella after all the years of him not rocking the boat and she's unnerved by it because it feels like he's becoming just as angry and hateful as her mother is. She seems like she already knows not to expect too much from Stella, but seeing her dad that she's much closer to repeating that behavior has to be upsetting.
Octavia is a lot like her dad. Stolas though is more a romantic optimist while Octavia is more a timid introvert. Stolas knows how to ask for what he wants, even if he has a hard time of it some times due to shyness. Octavia really doesn't. Stolas would give her the world if she asked or not and Stella didn't care enough to have a relationship with her daughter and too aggressive a personality for her daughter to approach.

I also think that Octavia has been sheltered from just how much of a horror Stella has. It's like back when we wondered whether Stolas was in the wrong for cheating on Stella because we didn't know what Stella was actually like around him. Octavia might see her mother through rose tinted glasses without knowing how badly she actually treated her father.

@@47ratsinahoodie Yeah I agree. Seeing how that whole situation concludes is going to be interesting. I reckon that at some point Octavia is going to see her mother's true colours. How that'll happen or if we'll even see it this season (Stella might succeed in driving a wedge between Octavia and Stolas) is another matter.
This was an episode about Octavia, how the implode at her house is affecting HER.
And Stolas, he wanted his daughter back, so of course he pushed his issues with Blitzø aside to make sure she was found and was safe. That was his priority.
And yet, he stayed and flirted with Blitz the whole time instead of going out to find her himself.
Plus I feel like if Stolas and Blitz had to work together in this emergency situation, their characters should have still been cold towards one another in a “we don’t know how we feel about each other but we have to do this now” way. Their characters right now act like Ozzie’s never happened

Invalid excuse, he actively flirted with Blitz and seemed very friendly and casual with him. It's literally as if all their problems were scrapped and forgotten
@@terrizoop3739 Blitz and Stolas are both shown to be the type of people who ignore emotional problems in favor of moving forward with what they have to do. Blitz is obvious: he never confronts his emotions. Stolas is also obvious: he dealt with a bad marriage in order to give Octavia a normal life.
Them pretending the Ozzie's thing didn't happen is still deeply in character
And depending on how long it's been since the ozzie event, it's not that weird if they're not that tense toward each other. Being busy often makes you forget the emotions in your problems. Even after fights we kinda 'forget' it after a time especially when something important comes up. The emotions come back when you're reminded of the problem but it's easier to not think of it because of the time you had to 'heal'. Not just my own partner but also my friends and family, and with big issues too. At least that feels normal to me. Not saying this is a good way of dealing with things, just saying it's still realistic imo.
2 highlights of this episode:
1. Seeing Stolas in human form for the first time.
2. Witnessing Loona being like a big sister to Octavia 💜

@@SashaTheSheep i thought his hair would be as dark as his feathers, his face pale or powdered (certainly lighter then his skin color) and mabe his shape becoming more normal rather then tall and slender. As for the extra eyes i didn't even noticed he had them

@@PancakemonsterFO4 He's kind of the palest a realistic human being can be... if some dude was walking around with naturally white skin and wasn't albino, people would probably be just as drawn to staring at him as when he was an owl. Also, humans can be tall and lanky, so that's a weird nitpick. Other than that, I agree with you; I don't get why his hair is so light when he seemingly has black/dark grey feathers, and something about his overall design is just.. meh. Lacking. To me the thing that makes the least sense is that nobody really changes their clothes, meaning in the mortal world a lot of the main characters look like sex workers, which is reasonable to ignore in Los Angeles, or royalty, which is less reasonable for people to be ignoring.
ironic how the episode starts with Blitzo implying Loona isn't a people person and it ends with her being able to comfort Octavia. I think she is more of a people person than others think, she just very - VERY guarded about it, probably to protect herself

At the end, she yells at Blitz like she never had that conversation with Octavia.
Makes sense for her character. Since she only opens up to people, when the time is right to be compassionate for someone else, other then herself. Thus also, protecting her image as the goth girl she is. Don't want too many folk in her life out there thinking she's soft.
I love how stolas is holding the imp who has the phone tray, it's hilarious visual comedy, and shows that stolas still has that "imps are servants" perception, even if he doesn't mean to.

It also validated Blitz’s insecurities in a way because he feels Stolas treats him as a plaything. In the previous episode we see he values Blitz more than that, but sort of the “exception to the rule” rather than valuing his kind in general and placing him above them in his heart. Stolas needs to change his perception of imps first before he can really break down Blitz’s insecurities and strengthen their relationship. But if anyone can change for the better it’s Stolas.

I like to think that the reason why the relationship issues was put on pause was because both of them have one thing in common, they both are loving fathers and knows that their children comes first.
I think the problem is that they didn’t have an issue that they put to the side, it just wasn’t mentioned it wasn’t hinted at it was almost like this episode happened before the breakup (which it obviously didn’t) like they could’ve just been a little awkward around each other until they realized that finding her was the priority but it was just the same interaction as though nothing happened like they forgot
Things could of happened in the last episode of season 1 which still hasn’t came out yet despite season 2 already starting
@@Gingerale434 Yea, the last episode of season 1 released was just part 1-I recall hearing part 2 was cancelled for some reason, so they just moved on to season 2.
Part 2 isn't canceled. It's going to release but for reasons outside of their control they can't for now (apparently it's licencing issues)
Also, I don't think anything big is going to happen in it as Vivzie said this last episode was more of an animation festival than one based on the plot so for her, we already have everything needed for season 2.

The interaction that Loona had with Octavia was the best part in the entire episode and that part where Blitzo had the memory when he first adopted Loona

I feel like there was definitely a subtle shift in Blitzø and Stolas's dynamic. They were more openly hostile towards each other when they first arrived in L.A., and Stolas actually responded more tersely to Blitzø's remark about memorizing his spells than he would have previously. There was flirting, but it was way more low-key than the kind of flirting that went on in the Loo Loo Land episode. I get the feeling that there's some tension still beneath the surface, but the more pressing issue was finding Octavia.
Their interactions this ep felt like a big cocktail of 1. A more urgent matter to attend to 2. Stolas feeling more haughty and empowered to sass back to both Blitzø and Stella 3. These two hot messes in general not being willing to address their issues with anything more than passive aggressive jabs 4. The chemistry and sparks still being there

Man you said this better than I ever could have. I do also think that we see Stolas kinda falling back in love with Blitz a bit throughout the episode the more they work together. Like the beginning sounds like 2 exes kinda arguing, but the more they're together, the more Stolas especially rediscovers a bit of why they did fall in love in the first place.
@@drdewott9154 Exactly! I think this episode helps establish how the couple can work. Even when they're peeved at the other, they still work well together and have affection for each other. Which is what Stolas and Stella fail miserably at. Their big failure is communication and being open and vulnerable with each other.
Though I realize now a very important question wasn't answered this episode: Is the dog okay?
Yes I also noted the tension.
"Why does he hate her more than he loves me?" was such a game changer for me like I cried bc that hit really hard but at the same time it made so many connections click. The big one for me was like Stolas had been trying to connect with Octavia and it felt she was pushing him away a lot which made sense because she's a teenager with a lot of baggage in her life but this line was so important. It just emphasized to me how much she loves her dad and wants his affection and attention but she's only getting one of those. His attempts to connect with her probably felt out of convenience and like with Loo Loo Land their outing got overshadowed at the start with Stolas vying for Blitzo's attention versus giving Via his undivided attention. Her running away makes perfect sense. She tried talking but that didn't work so she's acting out. Loona coming in to tell her their fathers trying goes a long way was huge. Bringing up how Stolas is changing with his wife was great. Having that scene to refer to, we know Via sees her dad is making strides to grow, so I think it allowed her to accept Loona's advice a lot easier. I'd also love to see Loona and Blizto's relationship grow and I'd like to see more of their dynamic in general. Another great video. Love the points you bring up! For so long the only reason Stolas put up with Stella was for Octavia but now she has grown he couldn't take it anymore with Stella. He loves Octavia so much but doesn't know how to interact with her as much as when she was little anymore.
Is she actually a ? I mean Stolas's father was refered as a king, he as a prince and we never see stella being called that, just the generic "your highness"

I think this episode felt weird with putting their relationship on pause due to the hold on the second half of the Finale. Maybe it fixes this problem, maybe it doesn't, but it's definately feeling weird without the second half, and its hard to say if this is an error or not with missing an entire episode that may have resolved these conflicts.. Hopefully the finale can be released soon.
Guys it is just S2. Try being bloody patient or would you prefer to watch a Netflix show instead?
@@zemox2534 I think you misread their comment. The season one finale is a two-parter, but the second part hasn't been released yet. That's what they are talking about.
Episode 8 has nothing to do with Stolitz. Those 2 were still upset about their fight by episode 9, after all.

@@Amalga379 I'm talking about the ninth episode, aka episode 2-1 and aka "the circus". That episode happened right after Stolas and Blitzo parted ways.
I don't think they meant that episode 8 was going to be a direct continuation, after all it was skipped. That episode is mostly going to be a visual spectacle about a hellhound party, judging by the clips uploaded to twitter. The episode seems like it will focus on Blitzo and Loona.
I will say while Stolitz drama took a back seat, but upon rewatch I realized this is the first time we see a situation where their dynamic isn't just Stolas simping for Blitz or being playful. Rather they both clap back at each throughout the episode. Granted its mostly banter but it's the first time you see Stolas not being the thirsty and desperate one and just working alongside Blitz.

If they're playing the "couple who's relationship relies heavily on sex and has an issue with avoiding addressing issues between the two" I'm interested, because I honestly do not enjoy Blitz and Solas as a cute, longstanding ship, nor do I see them as healthy at all, so that'd be cool if they actually explored that. If they're just gonna keep acting like their type of relationship is some sort of "end game uwu wholesome quirky desperate sex addicts" dynamic and sweep the issues under the rug.. eugh...

I felt bad for the poor imp holding the phone for Stolas, the guy really needs a break, especially after being thrown by Stella, then being squeezed and waived around by Stolas.

I think Blitz and Stolas not talking about their issues and kinda sliding back into the flirting without working things out honestly makes sense. Flirting comes naturally to them, and, in the past, there was obviously a silent agreement not to discuss or get too emotional with each other. They kept things physical, never truly being emotionally vulnerable with the other. Having an honest talk with each other would require them to be emotionally vulnerable to each other. Not only that, Blitz and Stolas both avoid their problems. They avoided talking about their feelings until they were backed into a corner and were confronted with it. They’re just pretending everything’s okay and that nothing happened right now, because that’s what they’ve taught themselves to do.
I like reading these over after some stuff gets revealed in later episodes and this was spot on.
When Stolas and Blitzø are in the van and Blitz shows worry when Stolas gets visually worried for his daughter, and he acts fast. That's when you can really see his care for Stolas.
And as a father himself, would also worry if his daughter was gone
They're definitely falling deeper in love, and this episode serves, pretty much, to establish their family dynamic. Octavia and Luna even had a sisterly conversation.
Something I appreciated with the Stolitz dynamic this episode was that even though they didn't address the serious conflict, you could feel a shift in their interactions. Stolas not once calls Blitz "Blitzy" like he did consistently before the end of episode 7, which is definitely something small but I think important. It feels like Stolas is seeing Blitz less like his "little impish plaything" and more like someone he genuinely cares about, so they still need a proper conversation, but Stolas is trying to treat Blitz with more respect than he has in the past. Also them connecting over their fear of their daughters being in danger is SO sweet
Blitz and Stolas are the type of people to ignore their own emotional problems in order to move forward. Blitz doesn't confront his own emotions, which is what we saw in Truth Seekers.
Stolas does the same thing with his own life. He dealt with a terrible marriage because he wanted Octavia to have a better life. They both ignore the elephant in the room all the time.
I get that the thing not being addressed is concerning, but hey, it's in character.
If they NEVER address it, then yes. Reason for Concern. But this is a Project with People who *CARE ABOUT WHAT THEY MAKE* . So I am sure this will be addressed later down the line, hence why it not being addressed didn't bother me

This is what I thought too. Stolas's increase in snark and clap backs as well as his lack of explicit sexual flirting was his dealing with the situation but he's avoiding it. Blitzo is the type to deny anything is wrong so he's not seen as vulnerable. Both are behaving exactly in character and it will be a pressure cooker waiting to explode.

Exactly the point i wanted to bring up, Stolas and Blitzo are not healthy people(demons), there were way more important stuff in front of them to distract them from their issues so they just reverted to some sort of comfort state where they don't need to actively think about what exactly their relationship is, and just let the chemistry flow
I'ma be honest: I don't think it's the story that's pretending nothing happened, I think it's Stolas and Blitz pretending. Because they BOTH have avoidant personalities so pretending to those who aren't in involved that they're fine, feels in character for them. Even then, their flirty moments are more within themselves than out loud which demonstrates (at least to me) that they do care for each other but they don't know if the OTHER one cares or if they should even address what happened. And tbh that feels more realistic since they barely really address each other besides when Blitz gets them stuck on a tv show
I agree. And it seems propable that when Stolas can justify it to himself (peptalk for Blitzy so they can deal with the show and continue searching, it's a reach but not too far), he'd lean into the flirt just to feel even for a fleeting moment like he did before that rejection. Getting even smallest piece of that feeling must be something he desperately wants while telling himself it's okay, he'd not fall or desire more now. Would have been nice to see some of that pain in episode though.
Do we know how much time has passed since Ozzie's? Propably enough for them to pull themselves together just enough for this episode to happen like it did, although I hope they both crack and fall apart, as that performance is not sustainable.
My main problem with this episode is Loona and Octavia meeting. Loona goes on this whole spiel about how Octavia’s dad does care and just doesn’t show it, but we really haven’t had ANY moments to show that Loona genuinely cares about him. Obviously we have scenes where it’s kinda shown, but it doesn’t seem like she’s at a point in her relationship with blitz to be talking like this. If we had a loo loo land for blitz and Loona, I think this scene would work FAR better.
Uhh its kinda complicated when you have daddy issues. Loona knows Blitz cares just he often goes the wrong way about it and she does care about Blitz.
Loona just has trauma that prevents her from being straightforward with Blitzø. You notice all the little smiles and protectiveness when you look for it. She's got walls and walls, and she is flippantly overly aggressive towards Blitzø BECAUSE she knows he'd never abandon her. It's...complicated. but i hope in an episode soon she takes her own words to heart.
Coming from the foster system, Loona's distance makes complete sense on a psychological level. It can be hard to show affection when all you know is grief beforehand, that being said, I agree. I'd love to see Loona showing she cares more outwardly as she grows.
@@AnomalyFoxx Feel for you on foster care thats gotta be rough. I had bad parents I atleast had them and I guess they care but It made me pretty distant from people too and I dont know what to do in a close emotional experiance.
That does come in s1 e8 when it finally came out
As someone who used to work with kids in the foster system this hit hard. No they are not kept in cages but kids like Loona are all to real. Older, issues, not the family friendly kids. And they don't get adopted and when they age out they are in a big scary world. A lot of them do not end up in good places after that. I don't even want to think about how she would have ended up without Blitzo.
Are they get Aid or some sort of Guidance or taught anything
@@murderman8578 Not a lot of resources, and that's why former foster kids are trying to get more people to help these kids instead of adopting (adoption doesn't really guarantee anything and honestly puts a wall up for important documents they actually need, so sometimes they were better off not being adopted). I'm speaking on US foster care system, so I'm not sure what other countries are doing.
@@murderman8578 They can get some aid. Help with housing, school and such for a little while but honestly most i have known don't take advantage of it, they just fall through the cracks till they pop up 10 years later when their kids are being taken into the system.

This show goes fast and I guarantee if I watch it again I'll find more.

One of my favorites is that you can hear Stolas angrily screaming Blitz's name under the roars as he burst into office in his office in full demon form.
Anyone else notice that this was the first time we see Moxxie and Mille have an actual argument, or how in the end Mille is actually upset with Moxxie?

I want an episode of Luna and Octavia just hanging out, being gal-pals and venting about their fathers. Going to a concert together, shopping, instagramming. Not in a shipping kind of way, but just them hanging out being friends. That would be neat

@@thefakemcbirdo Yeah them pocking fun and "flirting" at each other felt like coping mechanisms to me: Stolas literally was shivering with excitement for snatching a pair of cheap sunglasses. In an emergency like this that feels like Stolas is trying to keep control and not act like it was the end of the world.
We get hints that they still have issues but they play off each other to keep themselves focused.
Also to those that believed that the whole Stolas and Blitz where just going with the flow if they just massacred the tv staff without "actor meltdow" as a cover they would have serious problems in hell for attracting too much attention.
Meh, just felt like every other adult situation that puts shit aside to handle a bigger problem at the moment. Kinda like being married.
The heart to heart talk with Loona and Octavia was sweet. Despite the anger issues, Loona still is kind enough to give advice to Octavia and the trouble in her parents life right now. I'm happy that she doesn't know what happened yet between Stolas and Stella from the ending of the last episode. Also getting the little background on Loona was nice seeing she was only a month away from who's know what until Blitzø adopted her. Also, this might have been the best Moxxie and Millie song so far and let's be real: this episode captured LA perfectly..

I think there were subtle things in Stolas's behaviour about it that he accepted that Blitz wants their relationship to stay "platonic", but him blushing and getting flustered when usually he is super horny are a sign of him fighting with his realization that NO he doesn't just want sex, he REALLY is falling for Blitz. We will probably see Stolas split harder between not wanting to hurt Blitz further by pushing for a relationship he thinks Blitz doesn't want and Stolas really really hoping to be loved by Blitz back.

the reason why I liked this is simple: it gave us the ship that wasn't a romantic one that fans wanted to see: a heartfilled Loona and Octavia moment
Exactly, I am glad they made a relationship in the show that wasn't overtly sexual, just friends or sibling relationship.
A platonic “ship”
There really aren't enough friendship ships out there which ironically I feel like we all want more than a romantic one without knowing it. I don't really care who these two get involved with romantically, but I genuinely want them to find a friend they can confide in and I think they're perfect for each other in that sense.
It might just be because RWBY trained me to be worried about such things, but I'm now worried that the writers will ship Octavia and Loona just because of this scene.

This episode made me value the relationship of Loona and Blitzø, it just hurts me emotionally. Loona's backstory made me burst into tears of how heart wrenching it was and seeing how Blitzø saw himself within Loona, someone who was broken and he knew he must give her a better life than the one she was dealt. Also, the hellhound adoption scene was such a sad scene. I hope we get to see the rest of it in a future episode.
Yeah, it's messed up but sweet. On one hand given that Loona was 17 and 11 months when she was adopted and has all her mood issues Moxxie isn't to wrong in comparing her to being a homeless woman picked up of the street instead of a child adopted. She probably would be homeless after being kicked out of the orphanage and have trouble finding a job and a place to stay without Blitzzo. On the other hand even if she was basically an adult when she was adopted and probably won't be as close to Blitzzo as if he raised her from when she was younger the fact that someone finally cares for her and will give her her first job and a place to stay until she figures out how to be an adult and take care of herself is still enourmos.
Yes Luna needed more and better parental figures earlier in life but the fact that she finally has Blitzzo and he wants to give her the unconditional love she needs and the support she still needs bofore she can survive on her own is very sweet. It's very touching that she as an older orphan who probably went through shit finally found someone that wants her because lots of older orphans have problems with finding adoptive parents.
A subtle detail I noticed is that Stolas is calling Blitzø by his actual name this episode instead of the usual "Blitzy" that the later hates so much. While I do feel like the both of them brushed aside their greater issues for the sake of their daughters this episode (and probably just not wanting to deal with the problem in general yet) there do seem to be subtle changes in their dynamic this episode that are really interesting.
Another little detail I noticed is Stolas actually noticing and reacting to Blitzø's panic attack after her went into a flashback over Luna. Overall, he seems to be making an effort to actually pay attention to his emotions and not just brush off any of Blitzø's issues as much as he has in the past.
Yes, Stolas wasn't just flirting with Blitzo like in Loo Loo Land or the Harverst Moon Festival, he only did when it was to encourage him to get things done so they could focus on Octavia, and I personally don't think they "ignored" too much the problem, I myself have a ex that things ended on a not so sure way and we still talk normally like adults, even tho inside we both probably would murder each other, also avoiding his issues is totally something Blitzo would do and like he said to Stolas "Don't act like what we have is anything but you wanting me to fuck you" just set the boundaries between them as "sex buddies" or in this case "transactional fuck buddies" and Stolas is respecting that not bringing it up.
at leats early in the episode Stolas seemed a little more snappy and quick to anger when talking with Blitzo, to me at least
I was personally very happy to see the two girls meet up and talk. I think they will become great "Sisters" at the very least. I don't think a relationship will bloom as it has with their fathers, but I think they will be close as sisters. I mean Loona is most likely still wanting Tex, and I'm sure Via has someone she likes that we've not seen yet.
I had the exact same reaction to Octavia's question about her dad hating Stella more than loving her.
Stolas was not really horny this episode. Like he didn't call Blitz Blitzy this entire ep, that's a big change in character. All he did was blush once when he saw those immaculate abs.
I kind of wanna shine my own little light on what your said here 2:00 about the strain in Blitz and Stolace's relationship not being shown in this episode. A problem that my family had was that we would all pretend everything was fine and that nothing happened even after some really serious things would happen. It was what was normal for me for a long time. Mom would rage out and be violent one day then be nice the next. We never talked about the pain and she never said sorry verbally she would just some times buy us stuff. And we would act like nothing happened. Talking with her like she didn't hurt me, pretend everything is ok. So major realashionship issues being ignored and pushed aside is honestly and sadly realistic. It's just easier to focus on something else.

This is exactly what I thought too. Like at the beginning of the episode when Octavia snuck into the office, I really thought it was all a set up to get them to hang out. And then later on when Loona was the only one left who was looking for Octavia, I thought that the rest of the episode would've been solely dedicated to them. Sure, it did eventually happen, but it felt like such a small portion of the episode that was instead putting focus on other things that really didn't matter as much/felt out of place. I think that overall this episode would've been a lot stronger if it was solely focused on Loona and Octavia.

Honestly, while I do like the idea of them having a whole episode together, and want to see more, I think the moment was impactful because it was their first time having any moment together. It probably would been better, though, if the rest of it didn't read like an episode of Family Guy.

I think the issue is that we still haven't seen the real season one finale. For some behind-the-scenes reason they haven't been able to release it, and moved on to releasing season two instead in the meantime. So we may or may not be missing some important development for where Blitzo and Stolas's relationship has gone.
Sadly part 2 has nothing to do with the narrative story, and was meant as just one big “celebration” for the season’s finale, so I doubt anything would get resolved there

What’s weird about the Blitzø & Loona dynamic is that we’ve never seen them outside the working environment. They’re either in the office, or out in the field. The one time we saw the inside of their house, Loona had gone to a Vortex party. What do they do when everyone’s clocked out? What was it like before I.M.P. was open for business? Unless Blitzø adopted her and just immediately put her to work, like seems to happen to most Hellhounds.
I thought the bit where Blitzo smashed his head into the van was pretty indicitative of how he handles most things he cares about, smashing into it head first without realizing the mess he makes. That's his dynamic with Loona, he tries so hard to be a good dad and he botches it. He doesnt have those aknowledging his feelings type conversations so he tries to do it through actions and kinda makes a mess of things.
I honestly loved how this ep handled Stolitz…by barely mentioning it. Honestly, it was getting pretty old having Stolitz be like…the only thing in the show. Great to see more Loona, Octavia, and M&Ms.

It’s hard to decide which would fit for a good A plot and B plot, I do think where Blitz and Stolas left off with their big fight needs to be addressed eventually because I honestly forgot it even happened since it’s been so long and this episode kinda portrayed like nothing happened. It’s not a bad thing but narratively and hopefully it gets brought up again.
This episode could’ve been perfect though with the A plot being about Octavia leaving and while the rest of the group is looking for her, Loona could be the one to find her a bit quicker. Since Loonas already had a disguise along with knowing her way around some of the human world she could show Octavia around having a good time until night falls and they could have the same conversation that they did during this episode.
And while Blitz and Stolas are caught up at the sitcom everything could honestly stay the same but they could find a way to talk or mention their problems that they had back in season one, like you said they could just be like “I know we have our own issues to deal with but we need to find our daughters first.”
All I’m saying is I like your idea of that plot structure but I’m still happy with what we got 🍃

I feel like Stollas and Blitzø not adressing what happened partially fits their character. Like, them not wanting to address the emotional issue between them, and just pretend it's back to "simple" sex/portal loaning sorta make sense considering how things ended, but I do feel like there should have been at least a bit of awkwardness between them that wasn't there.
I think the fact that Octavia was in danger trumps any issues he has with Blitz. Likewise Blitz understands that if the roles were reversed he would be far more concerned about Loona than his issues with Stolas. Keep in mind that Blitz never even tried to weasel out of helping find Octavia, now this could be because Stolas has all the cards in their relationship, but you could also see it as Blitz also being a father knowing how torn up he'd be if Loona was suddenly missing and wanting to help the man he has feelings for even if they had a massive fight and are still in an awkward position in their relationship. maybe they could have added a couple scenes where it's still a bit awkward between them, but I feel it's still in character for them to push down their feelings. They've both been known to repress their feelings before after all.

Remember the audience scene ? it was a mirror to the time he saw blitz on stage the only one laughing at his jokes being stolas. And ofc the action hero scene with the explosions and blitz hanging on to his hand reinforces this may have rekindled something.
In the end i think this whole episode was a hint that everything will be worked out in the end a glimpse into the future if you will.

I think my biggest issue is that the relationship between Stolas and Octavia is written off as "Stolas is kind of a bad dad but he's trying", when really it's "Stolas is being abused and trying his best despite the circumstances and Octavia just doesn't fully realize"
That's the point. The former is from Octavia and Loona's perspective. The latter is the audience perspective. Like honestly, when Octavia asked why Stolas hates Stella more than he loves Octavia, I wished I could just entered that scene and go, "No, Via. That's not what's going on. Stella has been making his life hell and he puts up for it because he loves you very much!"
It’s definitely odd that Octavia hasn’t picked up on somekind of a slip-up, especially on Stella’s part. At very least stolas could’ve just put all the cards on the table and explained to her what was going on. I feel like they definitely could’ve had a moment like early in the morning where stella wasn’t screaming the house down to explain what’s going on.
Remember that Stolas has been protecting Octavia from Stella's bullshit for years.

I was left feeling like there was an entire episode missing from the story. As you say, we go from Blitz and Stolas being left utterly wrecked at the end of S1, Stolas is heartbroken and Blitz is depressed, to them being totally normal. At times I was even thinking they were a couple, like wtf did I miss something?! Octavia also seems completely different at the beginning. For just a few seconds of screen time at the beginning she seems genuinely happy and excited to spend time with her father, until she's left disappointed by Stolas' marriage drama. My guess is Octavia knows full well that her parent's marriage was a dead one and that her dad was unhappy. I'm also guessing that she knows full well that her mother is a complete bitch and is now happier that she's no longer around the house constantly giving her dad shit. But damn do I think there needs to be a flashback episode to fill that gap between S1 and S2... And yeah, M&M just straight up pissed me off in this episode. We get it, you're a couple. Get over it!

I need more Loona backstory. The adoption center was horrifying. Forget healthy, it’s not safe. If a hound roughly half her size can walk up to her w/ a bloody bat, threaten her w/ it to try & get her to hook up w/ him, & then actually go in for it, what could a hound her size or larger do? Just the look on Loona’s face is heartbreaking, coupled w/ her body language it tells me she is truly scared. She looks like she’s about to have a full blown panic attack before scooting herself into a corner. It makes me think something like this has happened before w/ another hound, & it didn’t end so well for Loona. Perhaps that’s how she contracted syphilis (if that’s still canon).
I’ll be honest, before now I had accepted Loona had layers, but I didn’t really care that much about her. However, seeing this changed that. I now what to just give her a hug (w/o getting hit) & get her to a good therapist. I finally care about her & her relationship w/ Blitzø, & I want to see more.
(The only really flat character left in our main cast is Millie & I want her filled out bad.)
Yeah, I'm honestly surprised we've had two Loona and Octavia focused episodes and _none_ focused around Millie. So far she's just been the tough yet peppy murder lady. Even in the Harvest Moon episode she barely had any real development. I feel like we need a whole plot with _just her_ to give her more depth becasue she's pretty shallow right now.

I think the reason their putting it "On hold" Is for 3 reasons
1. Blitzo has been through a lot of relationships that went down the drain, and it's clear he has a traumatic backstory considering his scars so he's used to holding it in and trying to forget
2. Stolas is going through a nasty divorce, and he does care about blitzo, stolas was used to hiding his emotions and hatred towards Stella and now he doesn't have to. Plus he may decide to give the Asmodeous crystal to blitzo after all of this is over so he doesn't keep blitzo in a horrible deal
3. HIS DAUGHTER IS IN LA WITH A BUNCH OF WEIRDOS! he's gonns shove all that shit with blitzo.aside to find his daughter
The problems could be undone next episode. If Stolas starts trying to call things off and take the book back while handing over the gems but Blitzø tries to drag things out to figure out how he really feels, only to frustratingly parallel Stolas's divorce.
My only issue with this was the pacing. The whole pushing the issue aside wasn't all that shocking. Because I remember being in a relationship and having big relationship altering fights like that and us just not commenting on it cause we were both super avoidant about that stuff. Loved seeing Human Stolas tho

Oh my, Octavia being genuinely happy and Loona being sincere and compassionate - I loved this so much!
The other thing I loved the most is the subtlety of the stupid comedy scene. They needed two fuckin' shots to convey an entire drama! Blitzo's eyes sparkling, just like in his childhood memory in the previous episode, and a shiny "Laugh" sign. That's it, no further explanations are required. I still wonder though, whether Blitz actually noticed and appreciated Stolas being the only one enjoying his jokes and acting... probably this was only shown to us, viewers, but I hope it will be addressed in future.
I think in the same way that imps are essentially servants, hellhounds are essentially treated like pets. So in the same way that Stolas is sometimes confused on how he should act towards Blitz, I think there's that same confusion between Blitz and Loona. A lot of the time he treats her like a daughter, but then he does things that people tend to do with actual dogs, like calling her by whistling, which tend to be the times when she gets particularly annoyed by him. I don't think it's that they don't have a default for how they act around each other, it's that their default is being generally confused with how they view the other and how they should feel about each other. Blitz seems to have two modes when it comes to Loona, either very passive and wanting to do everything for her for the sake of being a good father, or being wrapped up in a moment where he's the center of attention and, in that moment of being the one with the power in a situation, leans back into treating his hellhound daughter like a subservient pet that he can call on to do hellhound things. That constant switching back and forth must be pretty confusing for Loona. She probably knows what his original motive was for adopting and, while she seems to know that he genuinely cares, there's probably at least some small amount of doubt. There must be times when she thinks, what if it's all just part of the roll she was "hired" to play? Does his threat to replace her only refer to the receptionist job, or could there be more to the threat than that? Blitz is trying his best, but he slips up a lot, and Loona probably doesn't have as much stability in her life as he would want to provide her with.

As someone going through a situation like Octavia I definitely swayed more to following her storyline. As soon as I saw the date on the calendar my heart sunk realizing where it was going. I knew Stolas would forget. So it was interesting to see how they chose to handle resolving that conflict. I love we get to learn more about Loona and what she’s been through. Octavia and Loona have got a great sisterhood forming and I hope to see more.
But he technically broke his promise though? I mean I know he went through alot with stella n stuff, but Octavia is important too. When having a child, It is NOT about you anymore its about the Child!
I like how he talks about how having so-called "filler" episodes isn't always some grand sin of series. There's a time and place for everything, you know?
It was more so they both pushed their issues with each other aside in order to help each other, in the case of blitz it was to get the book back, and for stolas it was finding his daughter to ensure she was safe. Happens IRL when people that have had past conflicts put it aside when there is a greater common goal the both of them want to achieve. What this episode showed is they still care for each other and have a lot of chemistry, yet of course doesn't address the season finale which I imagine will be addressed later on. Given their relationship still has a crack in it that needs to be mended by coming to terms with what happened at ozzies.
That's why I actually liked the inconsistency here. The arc was getting dark and serious (which is a trend which I find on a lot of series from Harry Potter to Sherlock, and personally, I find this increasingly tiring) and having something to forget their current issues for a while and "snap" back into the original lighter tone is something refreshing.
Loona is a great big sister here and now I want to see more of her origin story thanks to the adoption scene.
I binged all the episodes a few days ago after I discovered Hazbin Hotel, and honestly, the Circus episode kind of turned me off to it a bit - something felt so contrived about the whole 'they knew each other in childhood' storyline and I wasn't sure I liked the direction the show was going. Luckily, this episode was already out because that ending with Loona and Octavia was so great. Seeing Loona being vulnerable with someone and Octavia finding a connection with someone who understands what she's feeling - it was really beautiful and they animated it so smoothly because they knew how important that moment was. I definitely want to see more of these two interacting.
I agree it felt like they completely swept the Stolitz drama under the rug, even if it was nice to see Stolas give Blitz confidence to perform. It just felt like there could have been SOME reference to it, even if it was maybe Stolas hesitating to pick up the phone when Blitz called, or something. This show is good at adding in small details, I don't know how it couldn't fit in just a little something to reference that their relationship took a hit, but they're continuing forward. Maybe I missed something, I don't know.
I was debating if I wanted to drop the show or not, but there are too many great moments, that I'm pretty sure I'm in it for the long haul.

I wouldn't necessarily jump to that conclusion. The version of Azathoth Vivzie (and crew) has in mind may not be the same as what Lovecraft and his successors came up with. Helluva Boss (and Hazbin Hotel too I guess) seem to play it fast and loose with mythology:

In my opinion - As confused as I was at first, I feel like it slowly made sense. They both usually ignore what they feel and Stolas losing his daughter made him give up every grudge he had in order to find her. However, I do feel like there has been a strange shift in their dynamic than before which I can't just explain.
My biggest problem is that Stolitz was given so much despite the episode being about OCTAVIA running away yet Stolas puts his focus on flirting with Blitz and putting him on stage and listening to his jokes.

Yeah I really liked the beginning of the episode and the ending, but most of the middle was... half baked, IMO. An in joke that ran too long, flirting between Stolas and Blitz that was both weirdly casual after Ozzies AND innapropriate for the 'gravity' of the situation, and then no real time pressure on finding Octavia. A humanoid owl walking around LA doesn't draw any attention, because hahaha LA degenerate or something.
I'm sure it's possible to gon like nothing happened after such a big moment in their relationship, but what really broke the camel's back was they were doing it instead of looking for his daughter.

Apparently it was the first for the main writer for the episode and I read it might have been slightly rushed to placate fans, so I'm hoping it's a rare dud.

I saw them more as sisters personally, with Loona being the older rebellious one while Octavia is the dark reclusive one. That's also what I think is the key difference between them that makes it feel like these two can really help each other. As you said, they're very similar, but while loona lashes out to deal with her problems, Octavia draws inwards. Both could use a little of the other.
Ep 2 was amazing but REALLY rushed, and Luna meeting Octavia was soo wholesome 🥰
im so glad im not the only one that felt like that episode was rushed- though it was a good episode, there was just something about the pacing of it that made me feel like i couldnt sit down for a second

@@bluebird1914 yea- tbh it felt like a fanfiction, especially with the scene you mentioned. it didnt seem like things were actually being taken seriously in a way. i get not dumping lore, everyone needs a filler here and there, but this whole episode just felt wayyyy out of the loop of where the show is currently at right now

THANK YOU. The entire time watching the episode I knew something felt off about it the entire time that I didn't like. I was so confused for the majority of the episode (ESPECIALLY the scene with blitzo on stage with that dog and the loona flashbacks... everything was going at lightspeed and i felt like i was watching some sort of out of context clips video) up until loona found via. But reading this just made me realize it was the PACING.. and how fast everything was going!! I loved the episode and think it gave some much wanted context to certain things as well as the loona/via meetup but it could have been executed better in terms of how fast the plot was moving.

tbh, while it is true you could remove m&m from the ep, their filler section was totally worth it for that fucking line.

I feel the show would improve with fewer frames or a longer time each episode to absorb more of the impact of every scene. Also, I can see why people felt M&M were boring this episode, but I didn't -- we finally had a moment where one of them was exasperated with the other. I want to see more build-up on that.
I also really liked the parallel of Octavia and Loona. Loona grew up not knowing a single soul that cared or tried for her, so it makes it all the more impactful for her to comfort Octavia in this moment, despite her own grievances with Blitz. While this deviates from the Blitz and Stolas tension, it gives context between how other characters related to them interact, and I really enjoyed the dynamic of Octavia and Loona in this episode. It genuinely feels like these two daughters are no longer side-characters for plot, which fleshes out the rising action of Stolas' conflict with Stella and Blitz.
I really like the parallels between this episode and loo loo and. Both episodes open with Stolas singing to Via before she falls asleep. Then they cut to an older version of her waking up. Then walking down the hallway to great her father who is arguing with her mother. Additionally the former episode focused on Stolas trying to spend time with Via where as this one focuses on Via trying to spend time on Stolas.
The Stolitz drama is probably solved/reduced in the lost episode. That's what I thought at first.
My guess is that other shoe will drop when Stolas finally tries take back the book.
To be fair irl people have intense emotional events and sorta act fine the next day. Over time it’ll come back full force because it was swept under the rug. Stolas and blitz are still like 30 something they probably have a grasp of sweeping their emotional baggage under the rug and probably dancing on the hump till they trip.
This was the review I needed. I really didn't care much for this episode, but you highlighted more positives I was blinded to than I did.

Thank god I'm not the only one who thought this! I loved this episode, but it felt so weird to see Stolas and Blitz acting like their normal selves around each other. I get that they were focused on finding Octavia, but it seriously made me question if I had somehow missed an episode where they talked or something.
The thing about this however is that there actually is a part 2 to the Season 1 Finale that is supposed to be coming. It got pushed back behind the airing of Season 2 for some undisclosed production issues. So this may have been solved in the episode we haven't gotten yet.

While they absolutely put Stolitz on the backburner for this episode, I think they gave one crucial hint as to where the relationship stands and what to expect in future episodes - the calendar, with "Have the Talk" front and center (and crossed out over weeks). Blitz is at a point that he wants something with Stolas, and is pushing himself through his own discomfort to finally address it. But Octavia took precedence, and united them for something way beyond their romantic relationship.
Which was fun to watch! I think the creators did a good job showing us their now very shared feelings. In fact, it's the first time we see Blitz so openly flustered by Stolas - he's internally acknowledged how he feels towards him. I agree that the tonal dissonance was weird to watch. To a degree, though, it could be because these two are at a crossroads and haven't yet discussed which direction they're going.
Overall, great episode. Stolas is overwhelmed as hell, Blitz is in love, Blitz and Loona have t r a u m a, and Octavia and Loona will be the best sisters. Begging for the next episode, god.
I think "Have the Talk" was about Loona's attitude towards clients.

I think that Season 2 ep 2 is after their relationship got patched and season 2 ep 1 is before that and either season 1 ep 10 or ep 9 part 2 comes ou next or later on maybe a long or hour vid where they patch their relationship and the Season 2 will continue(I don't know if there was like a post on discord or something else about stolitz or season 1 ep 10 or ep 9 part 2)

I view the meeting of Loona and Octavia as sisters uniting for the first time. It's easily my favorite from the episode. I'm a massive sucker for character development, and if you can make me care for a fictional character, then the writers and actors are doing their jobs right. Let their fathers have the romantic relationship, I want to see these two develop a strong sisterly bond.
I gotta admit the Stolitz stuff made me extremely weirded out, throughout the episode I just sat there like...What the hell happened? Where did all the angst go?
From a character standpoint, I honestly think it makes sense that Stolas and Blitz pretend nothing happened. Both of them throughout their entire lives have just ignored and pushed down the problems in their relationships. This probably also means they are as phased by the fight because neither of them have an example of a healthy relationship. They both probably just saw it as normal relationship things. Especially Stolas, who, despite having divorced Stella for the same reason, probably rationalized it as it being okay because he and Blitz aren’t arranged they both actually like each other.
2:42 Gotta disagree with you on that. They had that moment after Stolas and Loona transformed. Blitz acted entitled to a human disguise and got salty when Stolas admitted he couldn't do that without his Book. Stolas before the season finale would have acted differently than the sassy owl man we saw in this episode. It hasn't been swept under the rug, they had a more important priority than their relationship with each other.
Before the flashback, Blitz says to the dog "You know, maybe it's about time i find you a new home, one that can put up with your attitude." I don't think Blitz wants to change Loona's additude. But wants a home for her that will accept her
One thing i feel is missing too from the whole Stolas family breaking apart thing.
We've never once seen Octavia and her mother interact.
I've got no idea what her stance is on her.
Which tells me they really want her to *just* be a villain.

Some people say that it's not the show that's not bringing up the elephant in the room, it's Stolas and Blitz. There is underlying tension throughout the episode you can pick up. Stolas doesn't call Blitz "Blitzy" once, and Blitz got particularly snippy at Stolas not being able to 'memorize his spells'

Yes and looking at Blitz calendar it has Stolas with a penis drawing and question marks and the next day “stolas fu*k?” they don’t seem to be meeting up anymore for their “exchange”.
it actually makes sense to me, how often do you see that when relationships are having horrible moments, but the people continue to stay together?
they likely genuinly care about eachother but have plenty of personal issues that really destabilizes the relationship they're trying to form (in their own ways, which is probably why it clashes, too)
yes, they should absolutely adress their problems, but both seem too focused on ignoring it instead.
im hoping the series eventually ends with everyone finding and resolving their traumas, healing, and realizing they care about eachother.

I was waiting for the sister moment between Loona and Octavia for two years, i had a play by forum role play session just for them!!
I feel that the fact they dont address the previous drama of their relationship actually fits. Stolas is dealing with his divorce and his daughter has gone missing in the mortal world, bringing in the drama of Blitz would be to much to deal with and Blitz is never one to deal with emotional situations head on. So its in perfect character that he would want to pretend that moment never happened.
I think stolas doesn’t want to talk about it and he’s ignoring the problem
I think loona and blitzøs dinamic is pretty much blitzø trying to be nice always because he wants her to be confortable with him, and she knows he's a good dad to her but she just can't take her barriers down because she's been hurt a lot before she got adopted, I think we don't know exactly how their dinamic goes because they're still trying to get to a point where they can be honest and confortable together
What I like about Loona and Octavia meeting, is that Loona treats her like a normal person. Even though Octavia is in the "Upper Crust" of Society.
