I haven't watched that episode in years and I still remember those lines.
The thing that always made Finn a weird option for shipping to me, is that his design in the original series never changed. At sixteen he still looked the same as he did on twelve.
That's until in his later years, Finn got buff up in _Fionna and Cake._
I guess it was to avoid having to spend money making new assets every couple seasons for his design

I think the evolution on PB and Finn’s relationship was amazing also, going from a pining crush to a genuine friendship was so refreshing to see.

I do not agree with the obstacle thing at the end about age. Age was not an obstacle that could be removed. The only thing to do was accept that the relationship would not work out.

@@chefcinnabutter Yeah, the idea that Gunther was secretly evil/super powerful was a huge running joke that eventually turned into the Orgalorg reveal.
For me the mini-arc "Stakes" was the PEAK of Marceline as a character (obviously considering she was the protagonist) and while Finn had a more secondary role I still enjoyed their dynamic together since after that we had very little Marceline screen time on the story
Stakes was one of the best things the show ever did
as someone whose best friend for the last third of their life is a girl I can relate to this. Like, people still ask her if I'm her boyfriend and like no, we are best friends is that so hard to get? also she's gay but they conveniently forget that fact

It happened to me, she told me I wasn't her type (trans and probably pretty gay herself), but we still could make each other laugh and have a great time so I accepted no and the next day were were back on our usual bullshit with minimal to no awkwardness or hurt feelings or resentment or anything.
No cause same and even though he has a girlfriend his family still calls me their daughter in law 😀

Marceline was one of my first crushes as a dumb kid and even then, I was still able to love and appreciate her character and dynamics with Finn, Jake and Simon.
Love is love, even in its platonic, unromantic sense. Once you have that connection between two people, the only thing that gets in the way is circumstance, history, what each person has gone through.
I’ve always seen their relationship as a brother/sister dynamic. It’s super wholesome.
I will say that Marceline gave this boy way too many mixed signals which confused my brain for a while during my childhood lmao.

I think Marceline shipping herself with Fiona was because she was trolling the Ice King who was shipping himself with Fiona. Though that's a whole other thing to unpack.
The trope of the younger kid crushing on a *much* older person is a very real thing most kids go through. Finn and other characters are super relatable in that sense. It obviously won’t work out, but in our little kid brains it might. When I was 7 I swore that I’d marry my 25 year old basketball coach🤷🏻

Confession: I did ship Marceline and Finn when I first started watching Adventure Time (I was in my teens). I think it because I liked their dynamic. While I don't really ship them anymore, I still like their dynamic.

I was so obsessed with Finnceline as a kid. Half because I was (and still am) a major Marceline simp, and half because I just really liked imagining their journey as a couple (although as a full grown adult who needs to rewatch the entire series, I've forgotten most of what I imagined).
Go With Me was actually devastating, as it was probably the first time I'd ever seen an OTP get sunken so thoroughly, but it was easily one of the best episodes of the early seasons anyway.
These two will always have a special place in my heart, canon ships be damned LOL

Remember that Finn was 12-17 and Marceline had the appearance of an 18 year old at the time of the main series.
Finn and Marceline are one of the few fictional instances that give me hope on the fact that boys and girls Can be just friends in spite of any other circumstances, if that made sense. If I’m personally being honest, I did kind of hate Marceline during her first appearance for what she did, but I just ended up loving her character as a whole with the more lore that kept coming up about her. Loved her history with Ice King, and her getting (back) together with PB was the cherry on top, as the majority, popular opinion would be repeated.
P.S., SC, I loved the callback to your ThunderCats video about the love triangle.😀
The internet happened. Basically, Natasha Allegri drew a bunch of non-canon art of Marceline and PB together that made it appear as though they were an item. I believe she had posted it to her tumblr (Yeah, great place, right?) and people saw this and just went wild. If memory serves, there weren't any real plans for Marceline to have a romantic interest. Penn Ward mused about the idea of her being a potential love interest for Finn, but ultimately decided against it.
So I will say, Finn x Flame Princess pre "You blew it" is my favorite ship.
Like, I respect the show with doing what they did and post "You blew it", I would never want to see the two back together as more than just friends.
But that sweet time before everything hit the fan? The two were adorable.

Funny thing is when I was in high school I didn’t ship Marceline and Finn but I shipped Fiona and Marshall Lee SOO hard. Then I saw Marshall Lee and Gumball/Gary in Fiona and Cake and fell in love with it as much as I loved Bubbeline
I remember as a kid I thought Marcelline was too mean for Finn and I was the type of viewer to think "The main character wants it, it must be correct" so it didn't click that he'd move on from bubble gum, meaning I never saw the shipping aspect of Marcy x Finn. Looking back, it's understandable, she was the first woman that he saw naked on accident even, but yeah it was obvious that it wasn't gonna happen.
I love Finn and Huntress Wizard, but like as a Soul Mates vibe, rather than Romance-y
They just kind of "get" eachother and are chill, that's sorta how I see them imo, now insane romantic displays, just deep mutual respect and something sorta romantic, sorta platonic. It makes sense too since they're both adventurous explorer personalities, I imagine their dates are just normal adventures or hangout sessions, they just vibe
I think her kisses nowadays come more across as appreciation for someone being a genuine friend towards her. Which given her past makes a lot more sense than it did now. :3
Finn and Marceline. An interesting idea, but was glad to see it end the way it did. As a platonic/friend relationship, with both got each others backs.

Marceline just didn’t give off those vibes as a love interest however, it’s implied that Marshall Lee in that universe had a thing with Fiona but of course he’s probably going to end up with Prince, gumball or wise. It also seems like Fiona was much older than Phone anyways so I guess since appearance wise, they were closer in age, so that’s probably why they had some type of thing together in their human counterparts. It’s confirmed, but I’m not sure if they had a thing in their land of counterparts, however, is much different, and I never ship them, because Marceline is much different from Marshall Lee. She never really flirted with Finn and even earlier seasons, she kind of somewhat had a thing with Princess bubblegum.
Never shipped Finn with the vampire, I just remembered enjoying watching them hang out and it helped me realize guys and girls can just be friends as I was growing up and hormones started kicking in.
Pointing out that Simon is basically Marceline's father just makes me realize her dad was constantly hitting on her ex...
I’ll admit that I would’ve been good with shipping them together. I know ageing would’ve been a bit of a problem, but ageing wasn’t a problem in the MCU. Also I do agree on the shipping Fionna and Marshal Lee.
Honestly I just *love* that shows are able to have a situation where a guy and a girl are friends who hang out and nothing happens between them, because every show - *every* show - has to do the “s/he’e not my girlfriend/boyfriend!” but then they fall in love (looking at you Danny Phantom, Ned’s Declassified). Believe it or not it actually made me think that this is how it worked, to the point that when I first got female friend I thought it meant that she was gonna end up as my girlfriend… (and same for the other girls I met later on!)
Star and Marco were like this at first, where they hung out and had *great* chemistry together but they were just friends, best friends, and even to me they felt more siblings than lovers, and I absolutely loved it! We all know how that ended…

my favorite has to be huntress wizard. mostly because finn's atitude with her around is the closest to him with jake. with pb, he acts like a dumb kid that's ordered around, while with fp he acts very mundane and mushy. it's probably because he matured a TON before meeting huntress wizard( It's *right* after hall of egress)

20:59 as a satogou shipper, I feel obligated to mention that Ash and Goh are the cutest friends ever and I'm OK with them being just friends.
One thing i love about this show, that I dont see in a lot of other shows is the older Finn gets the more mature his relationship with others become. An example is PB as a 12 and 13 year old Finn crushes on her and does anything to get her attention, even though it was never gonna happen. By the end of the series with Finn being 17 it evolves to a more equal respect mutual friendship. PB kisses finn in the last episode and if it was early season finn he would flip out and faint, now it seems like just two friends who been through a lot and grown to respect each other.
I wasn't around for Wizard, never saw Marcy and Finn as romantic, and didn't like Fire Princess, I was also completely obsessed with Bubblegum so bonnie and finn were probably my first self insert otp

After rewatching the show, I find it pretty obvious the point writers decided to make PB and Marcy a thing and it is much later than people think cause it was super easy to retcon

I have to give adventure time credit. When i was a kid I used to ship rhem because Marceline reminded me of Minda from zelda, Thorn from Scooby Doo with a hit of Raven's daddy issues while Finn reminded me of Link. But as the series went on I quickly got over it and strictly saw them as homies.
Also MarcyXFinn is a cute friend ship but I’m shocked that the writers didn’t have Finn call out Marcy on stealing most things he wanted but also Marcy is so chill and Finn is just a cool guy so them being friends makes sense but at best they would be considered friends with benefits at most on the opposite side at worst they would just be good friends who hang out from time to time witch is some times way better off that way for some the guys who can’t take a hint
