completely agree, not sure what she got from it but if you actually pay attention and read the lyrics it really does paint a brilliant picture of what the song is about.
@@Chazzs Dude I listened to this song for decades without even caring what the lyrics actually meant. I listen to music for the sound and the way it makes me feel. My favorite Metallica songs are to live is to die and Orion. I just like the melodies, the guitars and the drums. Lyrics are an after thought for me. Ill go back later and look at the lyrics but first listen I just want to pay attention to the melody. I don't see the point in analyzing the lyrics on first listen and pausing the song and rewinding and missing build ups and breakdowns. I want to hear how the music evolves throughout the song. Each to their own though.
@@kabiskzor I only commented what I did because they said they didn't like the lyrics, which I find quite hard to understand lol. I am the same as you! I literally never paid attention to the lyrics only the way it sounded.
@@Chazzs Yeah i replied before i watched the entire video.. lol Master of puppets lyrics and basically all metallica lyrics are pretty vague though. they could mean a few things if you didn't actually know or get every line. I mean compared to a lot of other music out there most other music is just straight forward writing. Rap etc. Metal is a bit more like riddles. You need to think about it to understand. So for people not used to it it probably doesn't appeal to them.
I always listened to the music only and now that I am paying more attention to the lyrics I am realizing how much I was missing over the years. My favorite Metallica song is also the instrumental Orion. But that's because it's absolutely amazing. Doesn't mean I don't care for the lyrics. James is one of the best songwriters of all time.
I’ve listened to literally hundreds of Master of Puppets reactions, and this is head and shoulders The most unemotional and flat reaction yet. I blame Stranger Things.

OK so once again you watch some Metallica video that is a very deep video and tells a story and you do not react to the story
The song is broken down into 4 segments
The master is the drug the puppet is the addict
The 1st part of the song the master is yelling at the puppet taste me all you see more so you'll need dedicated to how I'm killing you
Then in the slowdown part it is the euphoria after the puppet gave in to the master
The part immediately after that is the puppet yelling back at the master where's the dreams that I've been after
But the puppet does not get to yell back much because the master takes over and yells at the puppet, the addict

Metallica is not for everyone. I'm sure there are plenty of bands around with zero instrumental talent, puking up auto tuned, intellectually vapid, lyrics to listen to.

Metal lyrics aren’t superficial, or “hype.” The lyrics here are about drug addiction and being outside of your own control. The entire album, “master of puppets,” touches on heavy themes of the things that can control you (drugs, government, military).
You should keep going on your journey. I will warn you that most songs aren’t trashy three minute songs and do take some thought to digest. Check out the band Tool and the song The Pot. Listen and digest the lyrics. Once you remove the blinders of “this is fire or this is hype” from your lexicon when listening to heavy music, you’ll see it.
Also, if you want just “hype,” go listen to electric callboys hypa hypa. Metal, and hype 🤷♂️
Not sure I've ever heard a dumber criticism of Metallica. Hetfield is a master of conveying emotion through lyrics. Maybe you're just used to listening to lyrics that don't deal with heavy subjects.

I'm not going to give you the typical metalhead speech that "heavy metal isn't for everyone" but for you to say that the lyrics are bad simply because you didn't get the message or because the instrumental is more exciting than the lyrics... need to be more open minded about the music you start listening to.
I mean, it's respectable that you guys don't like the James' way of singing but I didn't like that you made fun of him by mimicking his voice like that, that was pretty disrespectful from my point of view.
In any case, it is obvious that this reaction was made only because of the visits due to the hype for stranger things.
Heavy metal has many ways of interpreting itself and different styles, Metallica has its own style and to a large extent that is why they are a successful band of international stature.
I recommend you take the time to appreciate every detail of a song, that you don't like something doesn't mean it's bad, above all I say it because of that "boo" with the thumbs down, another lack of respect.
Maybe the songs of black album is more interesting for you, James' voice is more melodic and the sound of the band became more commercial.

That voice is bad ass, and you have no clue what's this song is all about, these lyrics are real life from the beginig to the end of time.
Honestly, Metallica is no boy band. There are layers and layers within their composition. The lyrics, obviously, but when when the song tempo/pace changes, etc. Like here, it started very aggressively (The way drugs want to control you), then there was a sweet melody in between (when one enjoys the way drugs control you. Temporarily you may feel overwhelmed and at peace), then it gets rough (the way one starts realizing how all that peace and satisfaction from the substance was only temporary) and then obviously that sinister laughter in the end suggesting how it wins over your body and soul. This is a masterpiece, much like a painting with hidden treasures.
whats the point of reacting to the studio version with lyrics if u two didn't payed attention to a single word said? not even trying to figure out about what the song is
better react to some live version so you get why these guys are on the top and realize how skilled they really are on their instruments and the energy they have

This they have probably seen as a perpetual tactic, but the ones watching have grown tired of either similar comments during the reactions or the lack of even trying.
There are so many falling into the latter, thus unknowingly laying a trap for themselves for the future.
"I don't have the attention span for three minutes" is about where I realised I have the attention span but I wasn't gonna have the patience for 12 minutes of this...
James Hetfield is poetic genius.

If you guys would like an example of the vocalist (James Hetfield) singing less metal, then I'd consider Nothing else matters or the Unforgiven, or as a live one to watch No leaf clover 1999.
You must not had a addiction what this song about. It was genius song writing. I can relate %100 to the lyrics. My band formed about the same time as metallica in the early 80s and drugs was just part of it. Our handlers would keep us pump up with them so we wouldn't pay attention to there evil deeds. I am the only one still alive from my original band the others died from there.. 😈MASTER 😈
The album master of puppets theme is about things that control you, and master of puppets song is about drugs that control you "chop your breakfast on a mirror" "needlework the way" from the person thats being controlled's perspective

Даже я в России понимаю, насколько сложно сочинить такие стихи, используя различные языковые приемы и фразы, смысл которых трудно понять, если не достаточно хорошо знаешь английский язык. При этом были подобраны простые рифмы, которые легко запоминаются и усиливают восприятие. К слову, это далеко не первый альбом группы, и это уже не молодые парни, исполняющие шумную музыку и рифмующие что-то только ради рифмы
Metallica has some insanely deep lyrics and easily one of the best bands ever. Ur opinion is ur opinion but U cannot even talk about the lead singers vocals or lyrics James hetfield when u have barely listened to their music. I’m honestly interested to see u react to their other stuff. Listen to their song “one” by them then ur mind will be changed

You should listen to the actual lyrics, its about drug addiction. Metallica does a lot about common problems like one
I can understand why you didn't like the lyrics. A lot of lyrics in metal music has hidden meaning behind them, so listening to it without knowing the context of it can seem quite vague and pointless. Metal isn't for everybody, as it has a lot of dynamic to it. It isn't a straight line, predictable and repetitive like most mainstream genres, so it can be difficult to get into when you have been conditioned to enjoy much simpler patterns. That's why to new listeners, when the tempo/time signature changes, or there is a sudden drastic change, the mind cannot compute what it is hearing, therefore it is regarded as bad and automatically dismissed. If you knew anything about music theory, you would understand just how rich the music and instrumentation really is. If you enjoy classical music and if you ever decide to give metal another opportunity, try to listen to it from a compositional point of view and you will hear the similarities in the scaling/techniques used in classical pieces. Also, I'm not claiming that metal is the best genre or that Metallica is the best band.. I just want to point out that the track you listened to in this video is what originality sounds like. There are plenty of dogsh*t metal bands that I would never listen to and songs by Metallica that I don't like.
With that being said, I will recommend a much calmer Metallica track that doesn't really need any context as it is pretty self-explanatory. Hope you enjoy. Take care!

If you are gonna do a review of a popular song that you don’t know anything about….you don’t have to like it that’s fine but give it and the rest of us some respect and at least try to figure what the song is about critique that the musicianship the style of singing…don’t just give it a blanket it sucked review…this band was or I should say still is one of the best if not the best in this genre this album as a whole tells a story as do the rest of Metallicas albums….each song on this album has its own storyline meaning in respect to the rest of the album as a whole…I would encourage you to close your mouth open you mind and your ears and listen and try to understand the message and give a well thought out dislike opinion not just song fly by night teeny bop lacks hype and meaning bs…there is a lot of meaning in this song and you don’t have to be a fan of Metallica or metal music even to pick up on its meaning

Kidding aside, it was a fair reaction. Lyrics weren't spectacular or as bad as you say. I thought they did the job of telling the story while the music fed the addiction. Couldn't care less about rhyming. Pro'ly the delivery and vocal melody vs. the lyrics themselves. However, it's one of the purest forms of American Metal ever. Kind of kicked off a wave.
