An interesting fact about this song. Nowadays during the part where James Hetfield would normally scream "FIX ME!" He now yells "PANCAKES GO" apparent after a show Cliff Burton told James that it sounded like he was saying "Pancakes" instead of "Fix Me" and now James does actually say "Pancakes" in honor of Cliff.

It was actually Charlie Benante from Anthrax asked Cliff what James said in that bit, and Cliff goes "I dunno... pancakes?". Anthrax were supporting Metallica on the Puppets tour, and each night at that bit Cliff would look to side of stage where Charlie etc were standing, and Cliff would mouth "Pancakes!" to them.
James etc had no idea until Charlie told this story many years later and James put it in as a live nod to Cliff.
      Respect 🤘

@@SeanStaxxMusic It was on the Master Of Puppets Tour in 1986 so 3 years before that in Sweden. The bus crashed, Cliff Burton was thrown out of the window and the bus rolled over him. They were like in some kind of horror dream since then. They just stopped touring for a couple of weeks and we're on the road since then not really able to deal with the stuff that happened. They just ignored it and drank it down with alcohol. They also never really accept Jason Newsted as their member because in their eyes Cliff was the only one that was worthy.

70s and 80s were the best eras in music. When my son was 16 and my daughter was 14, they both agreed with me. I'm 50 and they're in their 20s now and they still agree. They said the 90s were okay, but everything else after that, sucks azz. I saw them in 89 during this tour in 89, and to this day, it was the best concert I've ever attended. The vibe today is all together different.

    Dude!
Couldn’t have chosen a better song, probably one of my favourites by Metallica.
Just for your information that intro was live only at that time, Metallica changes it every tour.
The song Master of Puppets is also the name of the album.
In 2015, the album was deemed "culturally, historically, or aesthetically significant" by the Library of Congress and was selected for preservation in the National Recording Registry.
2017 Rolling Stone magazine listed the album as #2 behind Black Sabbath’s Paranoid album as the top 100 Greatest Metal Albums of All Time.
Highly recommend, if your interested to look up For Whom the Bells Toll but with the original bassist Cliff Burton. He was one of the greatest bass players of all time.

I’d sincerely recommended That Was Just Your Life by Metallica, that is about as close as you’re ever gonna get to a rap song by Metallica, James Hetfield’s vocal delivery on that song is incredible, so much grit and him being in his 40’s when the album Death Magnetic came out in 2008, his voice is perfect blend of thrash, grit, and he can actually sing. Trust me, you’ll enjoy the song, best to listen to the studio version or a remastered version of that song by Ahdy Khairat as Rick Rubin who produced the album made it sound like it recorded through a potato and is a result of the loudness war.

Very true. Alot of modern metal bands do this today as well. Metal is very guitar-centric. Check out some Trivium for example. The song Sword over Democles. Or Machine Head Aesthetics of Hate.

I watched both Metallica shows at last Novembers Rockville and that made it an even dozen times I’ve seen them over the years. This video was them at peak energy and stage presence. At this point if it wasn’t for Trujillo on the bass moving around, the whole band would be essentially stationary at their mics and just going through the motions. I’ve read in interviews where this has been kind of hinted at and they just blame age. Well if Angus Young can still madman his old ass all over the stage then I don’t want to hear it. Great vid dude!

    • @SeanStaxxMusic
      @SeanStaxxMusic  2 роки тому

Yea lol age isn’t an excuse! You can still power walk around the stage and wave your arms to hype the crowd. Sometimes less is more anyways. Thanks 🤘

As Freddie Mercury said, "Music will lose its soul when with the onset of technology............these are the days you had to sound better LIVE than in the studio.............this is when you had to master at least ONE instrument and sing, write and god knows. Like Rush, they were next level musical geniuses and three guys made the sound of a large band because they played multiple instruments etc.
Although I prefer LIVE performances this is one song that you should listen to the studio version as the lyrics are so profound and deep........Typical crowds for real music were sold out in minutes even before there were Cell phones or an internet.

The studio version is great for understanding lyrics, but the live version is perfect for the energy and intensity.
