I like how Atlanta gets excited for things that are for other people and gets excited for them before handing it over. What a bright light! Both those kids are gonna go far in life.
Atlanta already is going places. 😊❤
She's growing up fast and becoming such a beautiful young lady 😊
Rachael Ray, Gina Delauerentis, and Ree Drummond have had their run, it will be Atlanta's turn when she's an adult! 😂❤
No kidding…she’s already a great cook at such a young age..keep it up Atlanta. 👍🏻😁
Ya she seems like a sweet girl
I'm an executive chef who is a certified food sanitation teacher.
Expirations are suggestions, not when they actually turn. You should always check stuff before you throw it out unless its raw meat.
Customs checks foodstuffs...if it's past expiration they discard it. They probably never received anything but a note explaining it was discarded
@@jaybrown4753a lot of the treats they received before they expired but they just had so many boxes they didn’t get to them in time
Agreed. Probably a lot got thrown out that didn’t need to. Especially candy… would have been fine even 6ish months past, or more. If anything, the texture changes but doesn’t go “bad”.
Use by date and expiration dates are different, use by is for manufacturing guarantees so therefore a suggestion. Expired date means after a certain shelf life it is no longer safe to eat and/or tasteful.
It depends on what it is and how old it is. Some things just get stale, old Canned goods can go bad.
Dad says to remember that the dates on food are not always expiration dates but may be Best If Used By dates. The food remains good but may have a slight reduction in flavor or texture.
I have checked with a few grocers regarding expire dates on packages. They explained that they have to sell the item by that date. Most of us uses/eats these... unless a year old or so.. Did not apply to dairy. But appreciate food coming from another country may need extra attention! Always look forward to your videos! I learn a lot as you do!😊

@@Facetiously.Esoteric Oops! Thank you for info! 😊
Good info. FYI I spoke with an egg monger and he said eggs are usually good for about 2 weeks after the date on the package in the U.S..
@@dr_waffle_housewith eggs you can always test them... put the raw egg into a bowl or pan of water, if it stays on the bottom, it's fresh, if it stands on one end, it's usable but not fresh, if it floats, it's bad...
I love how your dog knows there's a treat for him even before you take it out of the box. 😊
"I smell treats! Treats for me! TREAT ME, I'M CUTE!" 😁🐶
OMG, I said the exact same thing. He KNEW IT, right as she touched it you could see his demeanor change. That was priceless
They’re called “Hush Puppies “ because when the lady of the house was making the the bread from scratch, the family dog would’ve been whining for the meat. She’d quite him by frying up little bits of dough and when she fed it to him, say “Hush Puppy.” Or so the story goes.😊
I've heard a few stories about how they got the name. Reckon no one will ever know for sure. But I like that one.
The story I heard was a bunch of guys around a campfire cooking up a meal and the hunting doggos begging for a taste, so the cook would fry up some dough then tossing one while saying hush puppy, lol.
In the south when the kitchen was a separate structure from the main house.... the walk from the kitchen to the house was called whistlers walk as the servants had to whistle as they walked from the kitchen to the house. That way the owners knew the servants weren't tasting the food. The problem was, did would come running and bark. So the cons fried up corn meal mush and would throw it at the did and say HUSH PUPPY HUSH.
Don't confuse a Use By Date with an Expiration Date. They are quite different. A Use By Date is the date the manufacturer guarantees the taste and quality of the product. As long as that product isn't obviously spoiled in some way it's still quite edible. An Expiration Date is the date after which the product should be discarded. Enjoy!
There is also a Sell By date, which is the date on things like cans and jars, that is basically for the stores to keep track of how long a product has been on their shelves. My aunt worked for a company that went into stores to remove items that had passed their sell by date, but were perfectly fine to have. Things like jars of olives and pickles and cans of soup. There are even a Sell By dates on greeting cards!
If it contains foodstuffs their customs will discard date expired items...it probably never reached them.
Good info. FYI I spoke with an egg monger and he said eggs are usually good for about 2 weeks after the date on the package in the U.S..
@@Devila103 Lots of sell by and use by items end up going to homeless shelters and food banks where they will be immediately distributed.
@@patraic5241 Some companies do that, but not all. The company my aunt worked for told her to keep what she wanted and throw away the rest. She gave away everything she removed from the stores to family, friends, and her church’s food bank.
To properly wash the blanket the first time, put it by itself in a washer load of cold water, with no detergent, but add 1 cup of white vinegar. It will set the colors so they don't fade. I have a couple tye dyed t-shirts that are still as bright as the day I bought them, and it's 37 years later.
.
And don't forget the "Bean Song", which should be sung when cooking (and eating) the beans:
Baked Beans the musical fruit,
the more you eat, the more you toot.
The more you toot, the better you feel,
and gets you ready for another meal.
Or, Beans Beans are good for your heart. The more you eat the more you fart. The more you fart, the better you feel so eat Beans for every meal.❤🇨🇦❤🇨🇦❤
@@jennifermassie7227 lol I wonder how many versions we have in the U.S.? Here in Indiana, it goes: beans, beans the musical fruit the more you eat the more you toot. The more you toot the better you feel, so let's have beans for every meal.

Dayton OH here. The Airforce museum is amazing and totally worth an entire day to see it all. You get to walk through all the presidential Air Force one's from throughout the year. Also southwest Ohio is known for Kings Island, one of the best theme parks in the world!
I'm near the museum and recommend it
I'm from Indianapolis and I haven't been back since we had to be shuttled out to the Annex. I know they added a 4th hanger to house the planes at the Annex. Can't wait to go back!!!
As someone who also lived in Dayton, The Air Force Museum is better than The Smithsonian Air and Space Museum. It's simply one of the best museum in the entire US. I say that as someone who is not from and Air Force family or even a native of Dayton, but really enjoys good museums.
It's 100% worth it I agree
Dayton here as well. They would love the AF museum for sure. I know Denzel would want to catch a Bengals game, too.

Molasses is what you refer to as black treacle. It’s the pure liquid form of sugar before being processed into the forms of dry sugar. It’s so sugary to the point its hyper thick and moves at a snail’s pace. The stuff really isn’t the easiest to work with but if you can make it work try it in recipes. It’s also sold as molasses in varying degrees of thickness and processing for you to figure out what is best for a recipe.
That's what treacle? I learned something 👍👍👍
I didn't know they were one in the same, always wondered what treacle was. When I was a kid my mom or auntie would bake up some fresh biscuits, serve them up with butter and molasses, rich but tasty.
Ever heard the phrase "slower than molasses in January"? I definitely did as a kid puttering around to avoid doing chores!
Molasses cookies!!
Molasses is also what makes brown sugar brown. They add it after the refining process.
You don't need to throw out expired snacks. As long as they aren't stale or moldy you can eat them. We do it all the time 🤩
yep. just see if it passes the sniff test
Just so you know... The expiration date on most items is actually a freshness date... Meaning it's not as fresh tasting as when new but still eat-able. The only product that expire are ones with dairy, eggs, or meat, with the exception of dried or jerky meats... Don't toss candy, chips, or sodas too quick. Thanx 4 sharing and I'll keep watching. ✌️😎👍
Indeed, yes. I've stocked up so many food items that I couldn't keep up so I've eaten many items that are a year of two beyond their "Best by..." dates. Still very good. "Best by" does NOT mean the same thing as expired.
I thought it was "sell by" date. Its for the store to know when to remove them from the shelves.
They actually had mice starting to get in the boxes because they couldn't get to them fast enough. They had to get rid of a lot of stuff.
@@sonyagardner7625this and let’s be realistic, they are respectfully denying the invitation to eat EVERY single thing they are offered.
If refrigerated, eggs don't really expire... but the whites WILL evaporate and the yolk shrivel up... so if you crack an egg and it's moist enough to be appetizing, it's okay. Again, so long as they were kept in the fridge (in the US... I know other countries don't refrigerate).

That National Parks book that the wonderful lady from Wyoming sent you - one of the pictures on the cover is Arches National Park in Utah. It's REALLY amazing to visit. The foam or neoprene koozie is not as popular as they used to be. They were invented and patented by a woman in Idaho in 1981. The double walled stainless steel ones are more used now. FYI- A tip about the knife set holder, you should put the steak knives with the sharp blade up. Putting them edge down causes them to become dull over time. Some will disagree but I can assure you it is true.

Molasses is a thick, dark syrup made during the sugar-making process. First, the sugar cane is crushed and the juice is extracted. The juice is then boiled to form sugar crystals and removed from the liquid. The thick, brown syrup left after removing the sugar from the juice is molasses. This process is repeated several times to produce a different type of molasses each time.

A tip for you guys, in a knife block, the bottom row. Or any knife that can face blade down. Have the blade up instead, it will prevent the very minimal dulling over time from putting them and taking them out, but mainly it keeps the knives from slowly cutting into the block. Now it’s not needed to do. It just helps keep both in better condition.
I see your logic and is sound on the surface. Is the chance of an accident increased or decreased with the blade being up as compared to down? Actual question...

Atlanta, there should be a recipe on the back of the marshmallow fluff container for their fudge. It's really simple to make, but when you're finished making the base add peanut butter, vanilla and chocolate chips to the base and mix it up. Really good. You can also add in some pecans or whatever kind of nut you prefer and then spread it out on a lightly buttered and you will have some of the best fudge you've ever eaten. I make this all the time and it's it's really really simple. It only takes 5 minutes for the base. Once it starts boiling you count down 5 minutes and it's done. Then you add the chocolate chips, the peanut butter, the vanilla and the nuts and then you scrape it out onto a flat pan and let it cool and enjoy. It's really good
Most sealed food in america is good for much longer than best by date, fresher items have expiration, but typically they put best by so you enjoy it at the peak of its quality and also it is more profitable in the cooperate world to throw away food, than to donate it, the food wasted in America could feed all of our homeless and starving 10x over, love you guys

As an executive chef from the acf and the art Institutes i just wanted to point out that the long round stick is not a sharpener, but it is a honing tool. The difference is that a sharpener grinds away the metal, but a honing tool straightens out the rolled over edge of a very sharp blade. So, when you have a really good sharp blade, made of stainless steel which is a soft steel and because the blade is so sharp, when you cut with it, it folds the edge over. You can use the honing tool as much as you like, you will not damage the blade at all. But, I recommend you hone your blade atleast once before or after each use.
I love how you say Raleigh! It’s just one of those things that you get used to hearing a certain way that hearing it another way makes me smile and laugh a little bit.
As a restaurant worker for decades, I hated cutting up onions, mainly because of the smell lingering on my hands. I found out from a coworker, that if you lather your hands up with soap, and rub them against stainless steel (a sink, butter knife, or even a spoon) the smell will almost completely go away.
Atlanta, take it from an old cook. At some point your eyes will stop crying when you slice onions. It took me starting off as a prep cook. I had to slice 100 pounds (about 45 kilos) every shift. You don't havta do that many, but you get the idea. It's a hard mountain to climb.
Molasses:- A thick syrup produced in refining raw sugar and ranging from light to dark brown in color. The dark brown is pretty much an understatement. It's more like black in color.
There is also a molasses block called, Cow Lick, which is cattle use to lick. Farmers use to have them for their stock. I don't know if they still use them.
Thanks for the knowledge ❤
Wow! 3 new states in one episode! You never know what's going to happen! 💚💜

Btw, Idk how things r done in NZ, but expiratory dates r more of a "guideline" then a fact here in the states. The companies put a date that is wayyyyyy sooner than it actually is cuz they don't wanna get sued. So as long as something isn't moldy and doesn't smell weird, it is still good to go (usually 😊). Cheers from California.
See’s candy was created by Mary See here in Southern California. They even still manufacture locally. It’s delicious! My favorites are caramel patties, milk chocolate Bordeaux milk chocolate molasses chips. Make sure you get some when your in California. In the USA Halloween has turned into a huge money making machine in the retail world. Most candy manufacturer do some sort of Halloween spin in their candy like pumpkin pie or spice. It’s no longer just a carved pumpkin on the doorsteps often houses are decorated even more than Christmas. All the amusement park’s Disneyland, Knott’s Berry Farm and Universal Studios Hollywood all decorate and have special events for the season. Even the ship the Queen Mary (yes the UK ship) has retired in Long Beach, California and do a haunted event. So if you come visit in October you’ve got to attend either Knott’s Berry Farm who started in all or Universal Studios Hollywood who do a monster themed Halloween because Universal was the creator of monster movies at the beginning of the talkie movies, early movie history. They do an excellent job.
That was fun. People are so generous & you are so appreciative.

Also, the chocolate that has bloomed might look unappetizing, but it's completely safe to eat. That doesn't mean you'll want to eat it, though, as flavor and texture can both be compromised.

The story behind hush puppies is because in the south the kitchen would be built at a distance from the main house; because fires would usually start in the kitchens, so this kept the big mansions from being burned to the ground. The staff would have to carry all the food into the house to be served. On the way; all the plantation dogs would be following the staff on the way to the house. They would call “hush puppy” and toss little morsels of food to the dogs to get them to stop barking. Those became hush puppies.

A visit to Yellowstone always includes Old Faithful; if its timing gets worse it will be known as Old Fickle. I also recommend, as a Utahn, Bryce Canyon.
So much cool stuff. The geyser is called Old Faithful, and is the most famous geyser in the world because of how regularly and spectacularly it erupts. They predict when the next eruption will be, and if it doesn't happen when they say, they tell you "The longer the wait, the bigger the eruption will be." But all the National Parks are great in their own ways. You probably won't ever visit Great Basin National Park, it is in Nevada, but can only be reached driving from Utah, and even the Utah road there is not near any major city.
If you come to Wyoming, you'll find bunch of arrowhead everywhere. We have lots of history around here. And our town even have really bad history of Chinese Massacre. It was over railroads about over 100 years ago. I lived in small town in Wyoming. Glad somebody in Sheridan sent something. I'm from Rock Springs, Wyoming. But born in Texas. Been living here since 1975. I was living with my grandparents. My grandfather used to be coal miners. Then moved back to Texas after the coal mine shut down. Then they moved back in Rock Springs, he started to work at FMC. He retired back in 1986. FMC still here. We even had lots of outlaws back during Indian and cowboy day. LOL. Wyoming have lots of places to go tour around. Like Devil Tower, Grand Tetons, and Yellowstone National Park. Oh there is one library in Green River, Wyoming is real super hunted. Only happened when it closed at night. If a rumor true. 🤣😂 You'll love Wyoming.
A friend of mine from New York taught me to always put some shredded cheese in your clam chowder also. 👍🏻
Hush puppies are *so good.* I would highly recommend you deep fry them, if you have a fryer. It's basically fried cornmeal batter, usually with some onions and/or garlic mixed in. They're usually served as a side, though I've just made a whole package and eaten them as a full meal before 😁
So nice that internet can bring people from different countries together and make new friends love watching u all take care from Nebraska
I live in Milwaukee, Wi. and we are having an air show by the Blue Angels this coming weekend! It will be the first time I have ever seen an airshow.
I hope Y'all can see how many Hearts You Touch, Everywhere!! We all think Y'all are wonderful!!
My husband was in the Air Force for 24½ years. When he first started his career the A10s where his babies. He traveled everywhere with them thank you for giving them a shout out ❤ Orlando Florida
Molasses was mainly used back in the day for the manufacture of rum and other alcoholic drinks. Molasses was an integral part of the "triangle trade," also known as the slave trade, between the West Indies, Britain and the United States. Today Southerners still do like it on pancakes and it is used to make brown sugar and certain baked goods. Also used in animal feeds like horse feed.
We love you guys your family represents why we do the things we do a lot of times people try to mislead our reasons but mostly it is for freedom to thrive and live in peace
And for families to like yours to thrive and live in peace I meant
If you have ever watched the show MASH one of the characters named Klinger was from Toledo and was always mentioning the Toledo Mudhens which is a semipro base ball team. The baseball team in Cleveland is now called the Guardians who changed the name for the Indians due to people feeling the old name was offensive to Native Americans.
Here in Belleville/Ypsilanti Michigan, every year, at Willow Run Airport we celebrate Thunder Over Michigan. Every other year, the Blue Angels and Thunderbirds take turns performing at the event. Our home is in the flight path for both the actual event and their practice flights! You cannot believe how LOUD they are! The Blue Angels are close to my heart because my dad was in the Navy in WWII and fought in the South Pacific on the USS Canberra.
that was awesome y'all had this old man in tears
Grow up 😭😭😭

Don't worry about exp dates. They are more of a suggestion to get you to throw out things that are still good for another 6-12 months so you buy more sooner. Chocolate is really the only thing that goes off a little bit. If it's candy it may be harder if it's supposed to be soft, but cans and jars are usually good for a long time past the date, and dried packets of stuff even longer. I just had a can of soup I found in the back of the pantry that expired 10 months ago and it still tasted great. You have to remember the USA puts way more artificial preservatives in foods than is ever necessary.
Our dog has the same duck toy. He loves it.
That's cool! I sent them that one with two things in mind--I'm an Oregon Ducks fan and my dog has the same toy, also! I picked it up at the local WINCO. I had also filled up the box with "Little Debbie's" cakes and cookies, but I sent it on 7/18 last year and by chance, they opened it exactly a year later. The "Christmas in July" worked out beautifully, but the cookies and cakes didn't.
While unboxings are always good, allow me to congratulate New Zealand as it earned its first ever FIFA World Cup win with a 1-0 victory over Norway! Hannah Wilkinson had quite the goal and it was emotional seeing the celebration as they finally got a World Cup win. Well done!
To me it is like Christmas watching you open your presents.
Ohio is also the birthplace of my childhood hero Neil Armstrong, Mr "One small step for man" himself. I was 7 when Neil and Buzz walked on the moon, I've been a hopeless space junkie ever since! I used to pester mom to get me Tang, an orange flavored (sorta) drink mix. It wasn't that tasty, but they advertised it as what the astronauts drank while travelling in space. If it was good enough for them, it was good enough for me!😂
Tang was WONDERFUL if you were a kid! My parents brought it for kids when camping.
It was convenient, just mix it up with water and you were good. We even had the special pitcher that came with it. The astronauts' culinary options were limited, it had to be something that wouldn't result in a floating mess in the cabin. Mike Collins was quite impressed with the chicken salad that was sent along on Apollo 11, he told CAPCOM that he rated it "5 spoons " 😋😁
Your entire family shows so much love and respect for each other, as well as for the U.S. Speaking for everyone here, we hope your journey here exceeds your expectations and that y'all are safe throughout your travels. Love from Texas.
Aww I grew up just a short ways away from Raleigh, NC, and the box you guys got from there made me miss home. We always went to the NC State Fair each year, and they always had a Got to Be NC tent or pavilion celebrating foods created in the state including Bone Suckin’ Sauce. We also couldn’t leave the fair without eating hushpuppies!
It's very nice how much people want to share good things by sending you these gifts. Thank you for sharing these wonderful videos.
So wonderful to see all the States filling in! Very grateful to all who sent boxes. Hopefully the map will be fill before your trip! 👏🇺🇸
Their kids remind me of my kids, I love this channel! So energenic.
Right On... my family are among original settlers of Grants Pass Oregon!! My Dad born in house 1929 and other branch of our McAllister family "David & Caroline Sexton" were also early pioneers of the Rogue Valley located in Southern Oregon that were involved in the "Rogue Indian Wars of 1850's" to which Sexton Mountain is named after just north of Grants Pass. This my hometown and now you have gift from GP! A book titled "They Settled the Applegate Country" includes much information about the early pioneers of the area around Grants Pass Oregon including members of my Clan, my Grandpa McAllister and his brother Archie were prospectors Gold Miners and patented claims along the Applegate River that runs into the famous Rogue River just west of Grants Pass where my family owned an Appaloosa Horse Ranch at where these two rivers meet. Beautiful area, your family if ever visiting Southwestern Oregon could enjoy a guided Jet Boat Excursion on the Rogue River for a memorable fun filled event 🎉😊 Jimmy's Classic Drive-In on "E" Street makes awesome Burgers and I & my husband Eric always choose their Classic Burgers, we love Classic Cars & are in process refurbishing our 1953 Ford Customline Fordor Sedan it's got Three on the Tree, if you have knowledge about American Classic Cars but if not, this refers to the shift lever and transmission type, with three forward gears and one reverse. In this configuration, the lever is on the steering column also called "the tree," hence the name. Jimmy's walls covered with pictures of Classic Cars and Hollywood Celebrities like Elvis Presley, Jimmy Dean, Marilyn Monroe & others and offer on their menu "Elvis Burger". We enjoy your fun family videos and our pooches Natty Gann (Border Collie) & Schwartzie (Toy Poodle) do too.😊
Hi Shirley--That's fascinating about your family. So much history here in GP. I'm the one that sent that package to them. I sent it 7/18/22 and figured they'd get it 6-10 days later and open it up by the end of July. I didn't realize they were way backed up with packages. By this July I had given up on them ever opening it, but on 7/18 of this year they did! One year to the day later, so the "Christmas in July" worked out, but the "Little Debbie's" cookies and cakes I sent them were tossed. I think the many postcards that I sent of the Rogue Valley, GP and the Redwoods and Oregon Coast will hook them! The Jet Boat Excursions and Jimmy's are also great! Do you still live here? I work with a guy, whose family, the Powells, were early settlers in the Applegate Valley. And a neighbor's family were the Savages--Savage St., Savage Rapids Dam, Savage Creek. They settled the area just past Savage Creek towards Rogue River. There's a house that has "3 Oaks" on it and that's the spot. Anyways, it was great to read your letter!
Hush puppies are fried cornbread that are used to make a dog be quiet. When they are barking, you throw out one and say, "hush puppy." That is where the name came from.
Hey fam! Things are crazy in the world right now so watching y'all brings joy! God bless you all! Love from Texas! If you need a rental vehicle when you arrive in the states I'm your girl!
I really enjoy watching you guys. Denzel makes me think of a cross between my two nephews. I hope that someday my niece will be as nice and engaging as Atlanta is.
I don't know if New Zealand has the tradition of the Hope Chest. A Hope Chest is a chest that a young lady puts items into for her future. Traditionally it was for when she married, though I see no reason why a single lady wouldn't need household items. Back in the bad old days, girls would make quilts, linens, and clothing and place it in a hope chest for when she married. I suppose the chest itself is less necessary than the items. Atlanta may want to start one.
Knife sharpening is a very useful skill. I would suggest learning on a cheap knife.
As you guys have seen in past videos you reacted to, we Americans are very friendly and love sharing our culture and flavors with people! We have definitely accepted you guys as family at this point. Love your family and love your videos!!
Just to clarify about the Cleveland professional sports teams, the NFL team is the Browns who are named for their original coach, Paul Brown , and the MLB team is the Gaurdians ! As a side note, Paul Brown was also the founder of the Cincinnati Bengals as well as their original coach !
Such great, creative and useful items from everyone!! Raleigh is RAW-lee :). Hushpuppy is a small, savory, deep-fried round ball made from cornmeal-based batter (that's what the cornmeal is probably for). Hushpuppies are frequently served as a side dish with seafood and other deep-fried foods.
catfish!
