Yeah, imagine the decoy car is now a holographic projection.
The smoke screen has been replaced with a light bending cloaking device. The beast is equipped with anti munitions countermeasures to detonate rockets before impact. And they added a mini patriot launcher that pops out of the roof of a support vehicle in case of an aerial attack (Kamikaze plane/drone) breaching the no fly zone.
or laser detection systems that can detect when a laser sight is hitting the motorcade and triangulate the source of the laser sight then automatically either
A: shine a laser/s at a calculated hight above the source to attempt to blind a sniper or
B: fire live rounds in a reverse trajectory. (Not a good choice)

Yeah this video kind of skips over the fact that an advance Secret Service team with dozens of people shows up a week or more in advance and identifies and eliminates all the places bombs, snipers, etc can hide out. Screen and run background checks everyone he might come in contact with including all staff working at the hotels, etc. As well as run down all the local political nuts that have made threats and makes sure any local radicals are not planning anything. People wonder why it costs so much for the President to travel, even inside the USA. Just Trump's trips to Mar A Lago and his golf outings cost the taxpayers hundreds of thousands of dollars and often millions just for the security.

Staff driving into the parking lot under the UN had to have our cars thoroughly inspected including driving over cameras that scanned the underside as well as dogs going into the cars. Something not mentioned about the sweeper motorcycles is that they will move head with the lead vehicles and stop at intersections that aren't barricaded to not give away the final route choice in order to stop traffic at them. And as soon as the motorcade tail police cars come up the motorcycles will pull out and speed back to the front. Enough of them to keep cycling and blocking intersections along the route. The whole motorcade is extremely well thought out and intimidating (on purpose). The Beast alone is more than capable, but add all those support vehicles and it's a mobile fortress. The secret service SUVs also drive with their tail glass open and agents with rifles pointed out the back, literally able to hope out in a second and start active defense and counter attack. I will say also, that the antennas on the EC car are NOT just blasting out signal interference noise. I guarantee they have at least one, and likely multiple "trigger fish" on top. They are faux mobile cell network towers. As you drive around your cell phone is constantly connecting and reconnecting to towers as as they go in and out of range, keeping the strongest signal it can. A trigger fish provides a REALLY strong signal connection and so phones in the area automatically switch to it as it drives by... and since it isn't actually a cell tower, signals going to it just die. But it also is no receiving the full data stream transmitted by the phone. Location, serial and IMEI numbers, etc making tracking down an attempt even easier to do. Immediate notification of law enforcement and secret service to act while the threat is there.

A variant of the presidential smokescreen is used by the military in counter attack operations. It’s a specific type of smoke that contains carbon and silicon particles along with bits of a unique metal created by the military. It’s designed to short circuit any electronic device in the smoke’s range while the smoke is very thick. Leaving the enemy blind as bats. The design is public knowledge as it’s in the patent office records. We began using the smoke in Afghanistan as a way to disrupt enemy rocket launchers and keep the enemy air off our backs. Our fighters will launch a decoy with silicon dust and metal streamers to confuse enemy missiles. It’s been kinda standard practice for a few years. But flares are still used.

When I worked at the 2002 SLC Olympics, just 5 months post 9/11... the security in place was... insane. SLC Airport had the TSA upgrade as a national priority. And when dignitaries were present, there were multiple sniper teams on buildings around venues. I was part of a camera crew at the medals plaza and we'd often sit up on the camera tower and just goof off with the big mounted camera after doing color balancing and checks. Just look around, zoom WAY in. And one night when the Defense Secretary was going to be there, we were able to watch the sniper teams setting up 6 hours prior to the event starting. And they were there that whole time, watching everyone from all over. Was kinda crazy. We all had to undergo FBI and SS background checks. The entrance to the work site had armed military personnel doing ID checks. It was intense. But no one questioned it at the time. And when the FBI/SS/Army/Marines come in to provide security... they give thorough a whole new meaning. It's impressive really.

As I was trying to figure out why the drone would not take off, two fighter jets screamed by right over the top of me nearly bursting my ear drums. After they were gone the drone took off and after I changed my shorts was able to video the ghost town. Funny story about The Beast. I saw a news report a long time ago when they were just delivering the new vehicle and wanted to give the media a tour. One reporter got picked to do the interview. As she was shown around the car she asked a bunch of questions (like how much the door weighed, because it was so heavy), and every time the Secret Service Agent doing the tour said, "Sorry ma'am, I can't answer that. It's classified." At the very end, she said, "Can you at least tell me what the tires are made of?" The Agent smiled and said, "Rubber!" I always thought that was funny and I think about it every time I see The Beast.

It was both beasts and the whole motorcade... I guess the president was going to have a rally in Wisconsin the next day, and they had just unloaded the fleet off the planes at the international airport and brought them to the closest gas station to top off the gas. And SS agents are usually sent out a couple weeks ahead to scout planned routes, make changes, identify potential threat areas, etc. The amount of work that goes into the President traveling is incredible... but I don't question any of it. It makes complete sense to take it so seriously, and just that show of serious business acts as a deterrent itself.
The movie London Has Fallen actually does a fairly good job, in my opinion, of showing just how hard it would be to attack these sorts of motorcades. You would need to spend years embedding people inside the sort of security groups that would be working enforcement around it. It would not be easy, it would require significant planning.

I worked for the State Fair of Oklahoma. In 1995, April 19th, the Murrah Building in downtown OKC was bombed, killing 168 people. It was quickly decided that President Bill Clinton would visit the OKC area and attend the Oklahoma City Memorial at the Oklahoma State Fairground. This was thrown upon our crews to build the event stage and seating areas, it was what we did for large concerts anyways, but this would be overseen by FBI security as well. As soon as it was determined this would happen at our facility, a large team of FBI agents came and inspected the entire fairgrounds, all the staff , all the vehicles both personal and belonging to the Fairgrounds. We all got interviewed, had background checks, as well as family members. They stayed for several weeks prior to the event and quickly left after it was over. We weren't allowed to be in the building unless we were assigned clearance, or were going to attend the services, which required more credentials, background checks, etc. The route the President was going to travel through OKC and to the Fairground facility was known only to his entourage. We have a Heliport, I think it was used to move him quickly from downtown to our facility. Realistically, they could have landed a heli most anywhere near the facility.

Actually the Presidential motorcade is a 50 car convoy which travels with him wherever he goes. When traveling overseas there is a special airplane that carries the 50 car convoy which includes the Beast. The President travels in a separate airplane known as Air Force One. Americans pay approximately $2,600 per minute, yes, per minute, for this protection. There is another video that also details the American Presidential motorcade and talks more about the amazing weapons installed inside the Beast. I am glad my President is heavily protected, but it is very expensive.

That's not technically true. Most of those 50 or so vehicles are not actually considered part of the motorcade from a security standpoint. They often include numerous passenger vans, SUVs and buses carrying lower-level White House staffers, presidential guests and reporters and they all trail the motorcade. The motorcade itself is only the integral group of vehicles (police, Secret Service and the ambulance) directly carrying or supporting the president. The other (normally rented or hired) vehicles that almost always follow in trail with their own police escorts are technically separate from and not officially considered a part of the presidential motorcade. Think of them as associated with, but not actually in, the presidential motorcade.

They were not allowed off the premises because the restaurant had not been checked out first by the Secret Service. A process that usually takes several days to check not only the location, but routes to and from, and all the nearest stores and homes and businesses.
No food for you Mr. President unless it's made in your kitchen.

And with the exception of State dinners the President must pay for the meals and they must be prepared downstairs in the White House kitchen. It's one of the chief complaints by Presidents is the costly meal bill and the inability to make their own meals upstairs in the private quarters.

In fairness, often a completely random unplanned stop is safer as there is no clue or hint or any indication it will happen and the off chance of there being someone there is extremely remote and not something the SS detail couldn't handle.
And yes, the President can decide to go somewhere, but the SS needs at least a few hours. It can't be a spur of the moment thing. So when Biden stops for ice cream, that decision was likely made that morning. Restaurant owners in the DC area have talked about it. The SS will show up 4 to 6 hours before the President arrives, and that's the first you know about it, and they lock the restaurant down from that moment on. So you're not going to alert anyone. They guard all the doors and plan where he will sit for maximum protection. Restaurants buy food early morning so they don't really have to check it as who would know? Even White House chefs shop incognito on a daily basis and rotate randomly the markets they shop from. It's an odds game and the odds with very little work are massively in favor of the White House. Unless someone is literally willing to poison the entire district and parts of Virginia/Maryland/Delaware.
So while they aren't making unplanned spur of the moment stops, they absolutely can decide they want to stop at x place on the morning of an event. Which for someone under that level of protection isn't bad. Had Seinfeld given the SS a day or two notice of that desire, it would absolutely have happened. Obama ate out at a local Vietnamese eatery with someone, they had local food and some beers and chatted. Anthony Bourdain I think actually. Just the two at a rando table in this little hole in the wall place.

Years ago when I was working at the UN during a visit by President Bush the Secret Service allowed me and a couple of fellow workers check out The Beast when it was parked at the loading dock under the building. They opened one of the doors and let us see inside. There were two M4 rifles in racks where the driver and front seat passenger could grab them. The glass in the doors do not go down and are about 3" thick and the doors are incredibly heavy and thick. The only thing on the vehicle that ere still original Cadillac parts are the headlights, tail lights and grill. It truly is a luxury tank! I asked them if I could look in the trunk and although they were very nice they said that what was in there was classified. I have a feeling there's an arsenal in there! They told us it would take a direct RPG hit and keep going. It's truly amazing.

Living in the Washington area , we see motorcades everyday. Some are short - two- five vehicles. Others much larger. The prez motorcade the largest. 15+ vehicles. That’s not counting the police in front or coming up in the back. Also police are staked out along the route(s) hours before and police/secret service check and recheck everything ..
Also there is a helicopter over head and a no fly zone wherever it goes.
Also all these vehicles are flown to other countries where the Prez is going to visit.
It’s more than a simple convoy- the ‘Beast’ is probably the safest place on earth when being used.

Then Regan and Trump also in California. With both Regan and Trump I also got to see them flying into Phoenix aboard Air Force One, what an amazing sight. I also had the sad occasion to witness the motorcade that bore President Regan's body to the funeral home in Santa Monica California after his passing. It was late in the evening yet people were out to pay their respects to the former president and it was very touching.

The electronics countermeasure vehicle (ECM vehicle) affects cell phones in the area, except for radios used by the Secret Service, which run on a special hopping frequency, in sequence with the ECM signals. You can buy devices similar to that to shut down cell phones, but they're illegal to operate. There's sometimes a couple of SUV's with miniguns that pop out the roof in case something serious goes down. If someone tried to jump out of a van with an RPG, they would be immediately taken care of by the hundreds of security personnel in advance of the motorcade.

For 2 weeks before his 12 hour visit, we had a C-17 cargo plane bring in several loads of equipment, including each of those cars, just to travel 21 miles of road! There was also a helicopter overhead throughout the President's visit. They also brought in what amounted to their own trauma/surgery setup and had it ready to go in our hospital.
The planning for that visit began months before, with Secret Service touring our entire village, hospital, etc. All I could think, at the time, with as often as the president travels what a logistical nightmare at must be!

My Dad used to fly with Air Force 1. Was a cook for the aircraft. He has stories for days, especially being with the President on 9/11. I have tons of memorabilia from all over the world. Can definitively say the logistics that go into traveling with the President is immense. (I was able to go to work with my dad before 9/11) so i'd see as much of the planning that goes into just the food on the plane and where it comes from (as much as a small child would be able to understand). It's also explained in a National Geographic documentary that aired in maybe 2000 or 2002. My dad explained in the doc that they would have to wear civilian clothing and choose from random grocery stores across the state of MD and VA to get the food so nobody could poison the food beforehand if they knew where the President's food was shopped for.

Not a high traffic street so you can actually go stand on it and look up at the building.

It's a very large facility, something like 35,000 square meters for you metric types, and President Trump came to speak at a rally for another politician who was running for office several years ago. She said that the Secret Service showed up a week before the event and inspected every square inch of the facility thoroughly. At one point she was standing outside one of the entrances and saw Secret Service agents checking out the drainage ditch along the side of the property, so she took out her cell phone and snapped a photo of them. Yes seen it a few times usually when the president is in town for a fundraiser, for natural disaster responses he usually bypasses a large part of the motorcade in favor of his helicopter squadron to minimize impact on responders and because Secret Service has minimal time to vet the route, etc. what isn’t discussed here is the advance teams sent ahead a few days before. It’s not unusual for them to shut down multiple highways and honestly snarl traffic for hours to avoid telegraphing their route. But it’s a disruption that is necessary for security.
