They ARE NOT over reacting I am a TEXAN for all my life and when you eat brisket done like this it is such an emotional experience.....it is THAT amazing it cant be explained...
I’m from Florida and have eaten bbq in just about every state in the south…gotta admit Texas is my favorite by far. Pappas bbq in Houston changed my life lol
It really is!
I live in MidEast US and i have been to Texas more than once, however i have never had Texas Bbq and that is devastating to me!! I'm so glad they get to experience it :)
Terry Black’s Beef Rib is to die for. Literally.
I must a agree... Ive lived in and have eaten BBQ from various spots in Alabama, Georgia, and Mississippi. Nothing comes close to the BBQ I had at Pinkerton's BBQ in Houston, TX. I heard Terry Blacks is amazing several times already. I'll definitely be paying them a visit very soon.
As a Texan. The fact y’all ate it straight up and with no sauce or extra sauce on the side and tasted the flavor gave you major respect points here in Texas
Amen! Fellow Texan here as well.
Good brisket is like a good steak: doesn't need any help from a sauce.
Isn't that the only way to eat it? Putting extra sauce on it would be an insult to the chef
This is making me proud that my friend from Texas gave me mad props on my dry brined Tri-tip BBQ I brought to a friends birthday. Cooking for people already has me nervous but I try my absolute best and having the nod of a Texan native meant a lot to me. Half the battle is having the patience to do prep work for at least 24 hours before ever cooking the meat.
@@Kenjanzdon’t call a pit master a chef. It’s disrespectful. Their BBQ sauces are what they brag about.
I love how thankful and well adjusted these children are.
They have good parents
I was thinking the same thing
Kind, calm, considerate, it's refreshing to see
This is so wholesome!
I’ve never felt like these parents are using their kids for their content. It feels like they are INCLUDING their kids in their content, and letting them add to it.
Thank you my New Zealand Family on behalf of all humanity for your wholesome, satisfying channel content.
Wow, thank you!!
Isn't that the truth! ❤ Thank you for saying what we are all thinking.
Your daughter had the best reaction, which was to keep eating while everyone was talking.
Well put, some things just don't need to be said to be understood.
Noticed that too. Whilst in between her "OH MY GOD's"
I was going to comment the same.
she understood the assignment.
I was thinking the same thing. I was laughing so hard. She was like "You Guys Keep Talking and I'll Keep Eating "
Welcome to America, our food is awesome, but our politicians suck.
There’s not a more accurate description of our country!
Your not lying 😂
So right!!
Too bad too.
Haha FACTS!
Another Texan here. I love this New Zealand family. You can feel their love for the BBQ and equally their love of one another. A perfect family, you will always be welcome here in Texas. Please come back as soon as possible.
Heck yes, I agree on 100% of everything you commented! Perfect! 👌💯
First of all, welcome to TEXAS! Im SO proud to be a Texan and see how much people enjoy our food. I myself have been all over the world and enjoyed great food from many different places and Im ALWAYS ready to come back home and eat Texas food. Nothing like it in the whole world!
Agreed
Me too. Every time I've lived somewhere besides Texas and have cooked for someone, they are just absolutely blown away. I always thought everyone cooks like this. I love my Texas.
As a Texan, hearing "this is an emotional experience" filled me with pride.
Ditto
I need to drive over from St. Augustine and try some real BBQ. Hell...I think Sonny's is good, but don't really have anything to judge it by.

As a native Texan, thank for coming to Texas, & enjoying our BBQ.
Oh my gosh, y’all are so cute!!! It is the best!
This is how turkey is supposed to taste? It's so MOIST!
You might also want to try deep fried turkey.
But can you please replace that Texas Rangers hat with an Astros hat and that will make a true Texan
@@maxwindham501 Houston is Louisiana West, not real Texas. ;) Living here in Texas, the BBQ is "Good", but not KC awesomeness. However, compared to other styles of BBQ (Carolinas, Tennessee, I'm looking at you...), it definitely works.
Anyways, regarding the video, Kansas City BBQ is the *real* BBQ. And BBQ is not meant to be spicy. And there is only Hickory. All other woods are not BBQ! ;)...

Absolutely not!! Please continue to rep the WORLD CHAMPION Texas Rangers!! 🏆
Just remember that when people talk down on Americans for being overweight......this is what we are dealing with. Wouldn't EVERYONE eat this as often as possible if they could? hahahhaha
Preach💯🤣
Exactly….. and to add the food is EVERYWHERE we go
Good food is everywhere 😢😢🥴🥴🥴😰😰😰
Well, I'm not overweight, but I do love my brisket !!
I'm American born... My family has been in the South East USA since before the 1700's. Watching these folks from other countries, takes me back and reminds me how good our country, heritage, culture and people are. Thank You !
Takes you back to the 1700s? Are you a vampire?
Seeing visitors try Texas barbecue for the first time is like seeing a baby first try cake. It never gets old.
Good American bbq is unreal. Among the best foods in the world.
With good BBQ it hits me the same at 63.
I literally have gained so much joy just watching these people eat this !
Or introducing your young son to a screamer website.
It’s like watching a toddler trying banana pudding for the first time.
I love how everyone is talking and the little girl is stuffing her face as fast as she can! She needs to move to Texas! We would love to have her. 😂
How's the turkey hon?
(GRUNT)
That face stuffing would qualify her as an honorary American.
Lol. I was thinking the exact same thing!! 😂😂😂
She's definetely the star of the show. She seems way more interested in becoming a cook too.
Yes😂
Respect to the daughter for wanting to cry. It's the truest emotion to have when it comes to this. We all wish we could try it for the first time again.
Born and raised in San Antonio tx ….I still go through those same emotions every time I eat good BBQ… but loved watching ppl who have never eating Texas bbq go through a zen like state…. Bravo
I love how while everyone else is talking the daughter is just sneaking more and more Dino rib like a boss
because shes smart!
I saw that too!! She was attacking that meat!! ❤❤

She couldn't stop eating that beef rib. No time for comments or opinions.
Native Texan....yes, Texas BBQ is an experience for sure. If it helps...it is pronounced Puh-kahn pie...never Pee-can. Enjoy your journey and come back soon. Y'all are always welcome here. Safe travels.
I lived in TN for ten years and it's pee-can there
Hey man..people speak differently in different parts of the world, welcome to reality. You aren't the only ones with pecans...get over yourself my dude
I was born and raised in the great State of Georgia, and we pronounce it Pee-can as well. To each his or her own though...
Its cool guys. Hes just saying that texans say peh chaughn pie. Once i said pee can at a houston bbq place and the sweetest lady that owned the place quickly corrected me. I throw in a southern accent every once in a while when i speak even though im hispanic from south texas
As a Texan born and raised, I’d say Terry Blacks and Hutchins bbq are both top tier for Texas bbq. Love them both. Thanks for visiting our great state!❤
Seeing foreigners gush over our BBQ is a different type of honor ❤ much love from across the pond!!!

Those sun glasses came off and a look appeared that almost says "I think I'm moving to Texas."
The synchronized removal of the sunglasses after the first taste. Welcome to Texas!
The young lady during the whole thing. Her reactions/mannerisms of pure bliss at times just made me laugh/smile. 😂😂 It's good huh?
It warms our Texan (Houston) hearts seeing yall enjoy our amazing food and culture. Great stuff here.
I’m a seventh generation Texan, so proud you tried our BBQ without the sauce. Y’all are honorary Texans. Congratulations!
Yup. I judge BBQ without sauce. I want to taste the smoke. Usually bad BBQ is covered up with sauce.
Big facts loved this so much Always welcome to Texas anytime haha
BBQ sauce is only for bad bbq imo. This is the way.
Looks like they are eating BBQ sugar.
Your an OG karen
Seeing someone enjoy things America has to offer instead of hating on us is a breath of fresh air.
Texas isn’t America…it’s Texas
Umm ok.
Way to kill the unity.....bum
Texas is America, just less liberal progressive Democrat...

Preparing GOOD barbeque is an art.
A multifaceted, complex art requiring knowledge & experience, often handed down through generations! And a labor of love. Chopping wood, stoking the fire, hovering over hot smokers tending the meat makes you dirty, gritty, hot & sweaty. The smoke burns your eyes & so does the sweat when it rolls into them. BUT you counter that with the company of those you love, hours of conversation & laughs, coolers full of ice-cold beer & cokes, & pitchers of iced tea & lemonade. And the payoff is sublime!
Love this! Your description sounds like summertime in the south! A little water around like a lake or river to cool off in makes it even better!
I love how this family digs in and shares food.
As an American, my heart swells with pride when I see our friends from abroad visit our amazing country and to have such an awesome experience. Thank you very much for allowing us to tag along on your adventures. 🙂
i was quietly thinking this. a lot of folks don't know how beautiful and welcoming most of the country is.

Makes you wonder what these folks eat in New Zealand.
As a 6th generation born and raised Texan, I get emotional watching other people getting emotional while enjoying our great traditions. There's nothing on the planet that compares to a complete Texas barbecue when done correctly, I'm convinced of that.
My family is from new england area, but i was born in Texas. I love many foods, but Texas does it best.
It is amazing... and this is from someone who has been to Paris, Hong Kong etc and eaten other amazing food. Keep your food culture close and enjoy it!
❤❤❤
This is my first time seeing this channel, and I must say, any New Zealander family who comes to Texas just for the "Q" is my kind of family!
I love how the girl is all like "I'M ALL IN" and just keeps noshing. That is the correct response
The daughter was so fun to watch...she was absolutely enjoying the food
She's in her own little world over there.
A world composed entirely of flavor.
She's the chef in the family. She was probably trying to figure out the ingredients too.
I love how your daughter was nearly moved to tears when she tasted the food
You could literally read her mind going "OMG, WE HAVE TO GO HOME AFTER THIS 😢"
They're going to be 300lbs by the time they go back to NZ, lol. It's like they are finding out why Americans are so fat.
I could see her moving here after her equivalent of High school being done just because of the food lol
It seemed like she was savoring the flavor by closing her eyes. It must have been that good.
Terry Black's is one of my favorite BBQ restaurants!! Thank you for coming to Texas and trying our BBQ. Your family is precious!
What a great family the way you interact with each other and share food (the old fashioned way)and no cell phones in sight
Sweet Caroline playing in the background while eating Texas BBQ is the most American thing that your family could be apart of. Glad you enjoyed the United States.
What I love about this family is they didn’t come over here with a chip on their shoulder like so many tourists do. Always super chill with open minds to all the ups and downs of this jungle of a country while having a sense of humor and being gracious and respectful. We should all travel this way ❤
Well said.
Agree! Love this family. I also love how they sample many different dishes then share with each other. Excellent idea. I have never had Texas barbecue (and I'm from the US) but I surely would love to go there and sample everything. God bless you all. I'm so glad you came and am very glad you're having a good experience.
It's extremely refreshing. And a "jungle of a country" is a great way to put it.

There's a great deal of wisdom in traveling with an open mind and willingness to experience what the moment offers.
I almost cried to this. Thank you for showing such interest in our great state. Y’all come back anytime! Now you know why Texans are proud people. Bbq is one of the great things we love about our state!
This is how you can tell it was an amazing meal. The daughter never stopped eating. Loved the video!
It’s wonderful watching your family enjoy America. It’s a reminder to us of what we have to be grateful for and may be taking for granted.
Amen!!!
You said it!!
Agreed!
Truth
What's amazing is that TX BBQ is totally different from other southern states. Kentucky or Tennessee enjoy the sweeter flavors. TX goes big and bold. The amazing thing about the US over any other country is that we have so many different cultures that have made their homes here and the cuisine follows. Seafood in the northeast, cajun (french/african) in Louisiana, BBQ is the south, West coast asian fusions and chinese/japanese/korean. You can find everything here.
I don't want to get political or anything, but isn't it a shame we can accept all the wonderful food cultures from across the country without blinking an eye, but can't accept actual cultures still in 2023? Kind of sucks. But yeah, BBQ is incredible no matter where you get it, literally.
@@LordLOC 99% of people are very accepting. The media vastly overhypes the hate for attention and money. TV and the internet can warp reality.
Memphis dry rub isn't sweet. But you're right, it's all different!
Glad you guys enjoyed it. Bbq in Texas is definitely some of the best
@@you_can_call_me_T I went to this joint literally on the highway outside of Austin back in the 90s - I don't remember the name of it and I don't think they are around anymore sadly, but it was without a doubt the best BBQ I've ever had, and I've been to Terry Black's and a bunch of the best overall places in Texas. I WISH I could go back in time to this place, the food was just mind bogglingly good. And shockingly, one of the best BBQ joints I've been to outside of Texas or a more southern state, was in NY in Brooklyn. A place called Homestead BBQ (I think it's called Homestead, I'll have to google now lol) was just amazing. They have a BBQ pastrami that is amazing.
It's wonderful to see a nice family with terrific manners. You made me smile.
Atlanta not talking but hitting that beef rib while no one was looking.

Hello from Florida. I'm happy that you and your family are experiencing all that the usa offers. We appreciate the respect that your family is showing towards our events, our culture, and most of all, the understanding and patience. Best wishes
Texas barbecue is a way of life for us. Great food, great people, great state!
Atlantas silent reaction to everything was the best. It was like she just closed her eyes and was savoring heaven. Then she was like "Ya'll keep talking. I'm just going to keep enjoying the food while you talk." Sam started eating that rib and I didn't think he was going to stop and share any of it with Denzel. BBQ is very different depending where in the states you are. All forms are delicious, just different. I do love the bold tanginess of the Texas BBQ though.
Sweet Caroline was playing during the short ribs. Perfect timing 😅
👍
Dez's overemoting is fun to watch, but Atlanta's implicit "damn this is good reactions" are priceless.
As a Texan, I’m so glad you got to try authentic texas BBQ. Nothing comes close.
Eh competed in many many pig cooking competitions here in NC, stuff 1000% does come close but yeah Texas bbq is great
its a southern thang, can confirm in TN. love you guys
Kansas City is better
@@ivancoram4735 nah quit trolling bro.
@@johnroberts1849 I lived in KC for 25 years, and while I'm OK with those showing some hometown (I moved there as an adult) pride, I won't say it's better. I will say it's on par with Texas, but it has a different heritage and philosophy. That makes direct comparisons impossible, and Carolina BBQ's yet another thing. There can't be a "best" when the players all take a different approach to a similar, but not identical outcome. That's the three BBQ centers, but I'll give a shoutout to Memphis for its ribs, and all the little BBQ joints in other towns and following other traditions. It takes a national-level chain to fuck up Q, and in a good sit-down restaurant you might get some good stuff, but a joint will give you as good or better, for a much lower price.
Yeah, I dove right into the KC Q culture, then wallowed in it. I want to send some of my homemade rub to Atlanta, but managing packaging, shipping, and who knows what applicable laws, not sure I can swing it on a disability income. All I can say about that is once I got it dialed in, folks started refusing to use sauce on my ribs. This ain't me trolling, this is from an important part of my life. If you don't like it, I suggest you reconsider who the troll in this thread actually is.

Ive been on a binge watching these types of videos. Love their reactions to our bbq. Feel so blessed to grow up with my entire family knowing how to bbq and smoke meats. Smoked brisket was a weekend staple. Thanksgiving my dad always made a smoked turkey. Its a heavenly experience every single time.
Dad's speechless, mom's freakin' about having to follow that, and baby girl says, "how am I ever gonna leave this place?" Love it.
As a Texan I just love how much yall love us and our culture and food. The most important thing about our bbq is that the entire idea is taking a whole day out of your life and making the best food and memories all at the same time with the ones you love... it isn't 12hrs spent smoking a brisket its 12hrs hanging out with the people you love.
That's what a REAL bbq is all about.

Native Floridian, but I’ve been to Terry Black’s four times in my life, twice in Dallas and twice in Austin. They are being completely authentic and real here when they say it’s an emotional experience. The existential questions asked after that first bite - “How will I ever go back to eating meat? Is this the first time I’ve ever truly eaten? Can there be a more perfect meal, because I’m not convinced one exists.” It Always lives up to the hype, and their brisket, beef rib, mac and cheese, and house margarita live rent free in my head and in my dreams ❤️ Love the appreciation, and thank you guys for taking me back to some of the happiest days of my life!
Florida here too but spent 6 years in Texas and totally agree. Every bbq here fails miserably. Though I found a food truck that has really good BBQ .
Awesome! Happy your family enjoyed Texas.
Lol, love the daughter. She let everyone talk and went all in, on the beef rib.
So, as a native born Texan... first, thanks for coming over and enjoying our lovely BBQ. Secondly, I have good news for y'all. I have a buddy in Australia who makes his own BBQ, and says that y'all can do this stuff at home. A good smoker can be built, or bought, and there are tons of UA-cam videos to help you with that.
Making the Q....well, that just takes time and experience. The more you try it, the better you'll get at it. Imagine how much of a local hero you'll be once you figure out how to do this at home.
So here's encouragement. You can do it. Absolutely.
BBQ cooking is a hobby. As is fish frying. I would encourage them to partake in BBQ ing in New Zealand.
The difficulty in making TX bbq is getting the mesquite wood for the smoker…you can get mesquite pellets but chunk wood is going to be more difficult.
In Australia, there is a bush that is actually mesquite. When used for smoking, it tastes like you've used mesquite. But even in NZ you can get charcoal, which can still be used for making good BBQ.
As a Texan who's spent quite a bit of time in NZ. They would unfortunately need the correct wood and meats for this. Their standard meat is a bit different even down to Sausage which is nothing like American sausage. So if they can find those two things, the proper meat and wood, you're golden. Even if you have to seek it out, I think a good BBQ on the weekend for the family is well worth the effort.
Real BBQ is a matter of putting your heart and soul into it. So if you have the heart and soul, you can do it. But it might take years of trying.
I love watching their genuine enjoyment.
This is a really good and loving family. If all families were like this we would have a much better society ❤❤❤
Towards the end of the video , Denzy looked like he was miserable because he was over stuffed .He also looked like he wanted more but couldn't handle even one more half spoonful .Denz my dude , we feel the exact same way every time we get to eat real good BBQ .. One of my favorite things about America is how every region has it's own foods they do better than anywhere else. If you're ever on the east coast, like right on the water, you need to try the local seafood, best I've ever had. Everything from the the maple syrup in Vermont, to the peaches of Georgia, to the wines and oranges of California, food is culture, and Americans love sharing good food with everyone, it's one of my favorite means of cultural exchange.

Besides enjoying the bbq after a long smoke, always love the meals following: breakfast wraps/tacos with brisket or pulled pork, bbq nachos, brisket melts, smoked brisket chili. Getting hungry typing this, might have to smoke this weekend.😂
This is the best! So hilarious. I love watching this family try everything. So wholesome.
Sweet family, I looking so yummy 😋 😍, Thank you for sharing ❤
Atlanta's reactions are the best, lol. She ranges from either food ecstasy, to utter confusion with every bite. And Nadine nearly in tears biting into the brisket was great. Good BBQ SHOULD give you an existential crisis.
They made it!! Congratulations!!
It’s always a privilege seeing people enjoy their first Texas barbecue.
Glad to see a family going out and having fun. I'm from the states and it's been a joy watching this video
The BEST family food reaction I've ever witnessed. It's great to see that my family is not the only one who appreciates and talks about food ;)
