Everything from 65 to 72 70 being the best year had balls !! Grandmas car would blow the tires off and put you back in the seat, so just think what a cutlass 442 was like.
I think the actual "definition" of "muscle car" is something like this: a factory produced car with upgraded engine, transmission, brakes, gearing, exhaust, tires etc.....or any combination of those items upgraded at the factory production level. So, my 67 Chevelle Malibu Sport Coupe isn't really considered a "muscle car", as it came with a 283, powerglide, 14 inch tires, single exhaust, and manual drum brakes. The very next step up from my 67 is an SS396, which IS considered a real "muscle car". Anyway, WAY cool more-door Cutlass, Mortske! Nice save! Nothing wrong with a crew-cab. I have a buddy who races his 4-door 67 Malibu in HPDE, ya know, the cone courses they set up in big parking lots. Yeah, he's part of a real sanctioned group. He rescued his crew cab 67 Malibu from a wrecking yard, made it into a 1/4 mile car, now has transformed it into a real street racer, with serious suspension and brake mods, body stretching to accommodate huge rubber, and a built 454 with a 4-speed and Gear Vendors overdrive. It's a really neat setup!
Mojo is the cutest thing! He's quite knowledgeable & i like hearing him school on things. What a great guy all around. Gotta say i love the long vids. Thanks for the steady flow of vids, as I know how difficult it is to keep up, most especially the editing.
I like the longer videos and is just another reason why I watch. I like how you explain things that you are doing, I've already learned a bunch watching ya, a lot of other channels have cool cars and trucks but will only make a 22 minute video of montages and time lapse totally glossing over the work being done and explaining little. keep doing your thing Mortske, great Job Saving this car from the crusher!!🙏🏼🍻
Congratulations on getting the Oldsmabubble working again. They're getting scarce, even the 4 drs. It was good seeing Mojo in his natural environment, too. You got to have him on more often. He's a card 😂 A very nice collection at the car show. Okay, give Duff a pat on the head for me. Again, can't wait 'til next week.
I think that transmission you pulled off the Buick was a ST300. Abandoning that and going with the other TH350 was a wise choice. The seat belt buzzer that wouldn’t quit and stuck seat belt had me rolling 😂
Hey thanks for the opportunity for owning a combination stud finder belt buckle handsfree accessory device can't wait to get paid to get a few more magnetic couzzies they are so much fun!!
I'm glad you have given the credit to Duff! He is and will take care of you now and after the life here. God bless you and your family! Great video as always, thank you for your time and enjoyable video as always.😊
Awesome Job Mortske! Good Ol' 350 Rocket! Makes me miss my old Cutlass I was rolling in back in the 1990's.. 1971 Pumpkin Orange Cutlass Supreme.. I was so dumb to let that car go.. Life lessons from being young... Thank you for all your hard work and entertaining us weekly.
I’m glad we got to go to the car show 😊 There were some really cool rides. And we all know you were eyeballing that Torino just for them cragars. Thanks Mortske!
Nice!! We used to use a driver's license and place it between the intake and exhaust valves to tell if a head was a 1.94 or 2.02 intake. Pretty sure that buzz you unhooked was the 'your key is still in the ignition' buzzer. Sometimes, when we go to car shows, we play the American Racing Wheel drinking game, where we have to take a drink of beverage every time we see a car that the owner has installed those rims to show their individuality. We stopped playing when my buddy Jon almost got alcohol poisoning one time.
Yeah, express your independence and individuality and rebel spirit by dressing in all black, growing your hair and beard, getting tatts, and riding a Harley. Or put Torq-Thrust II's on your hot rod.
Another really great video my friend. Your style of a start to finish presentation is truly enjoyable and I think somewhat unique. Your editing is a great balance between showing all the major steps required while moving along so as to not become boring. I know that when I get a notification of a new Mortski video I’m going to watch it in one sitting and be drawn in, wonderfully entertained and probably learn something new. Peace my friend, DrRick
I know it isn't a popular thought, but I am definitely with you on the "there's nothing wrong with 4 door, 2 barrel cars" thing. But then again, I'm also on the team of don't lower stuff either, I guess it is all on preferences. I never got into the lowered stuff. To each their own I suppose. Great video once again.
Any American car that still exists at age 50 deserves to be saved, regardless of doors, cylinders, or cubes. It's cool just for being American and Old. Like me 😂.
Olds definitely made a 400 cid engine. It was the mainstay in the Cutlass 4-4-2 from 1965-1969. It used a tall deck block like the 425 and 455 engines.
Kinda have to agree on the 2-bbl 350 - my 1976 Pontiac Catalina coupe did just fine as a summer job commuter in 1984, and was such a boat that i couldn't pretend it had performance - it kept me out of trouble. Well, in less trouble anyway,
In high school a friend of mine was given his grandmother's cutless just like that one. It still had the dealer plastic on the seats. Maybe 25,000 miles. He put a cam and 4 barrel carb on it and a had a set of dual thrush exhaust pipes. We went from teasing him to wtf? That car would move out like no bodies business. He raced everyone. That was the coolest 4 door in town.
So are you going all in and devoting your time to the channels and website, or are you still 9-5’n and filming in the evenings and during weekends? If so, I can’t imagine how difficult that has to be. Regardless, I appreciate all the work and everything you do to keep classics alive.
I've been wondering the same thing. You got the new place, new shop, adding buildings, buying cars nonstop, are you finally doing YooToob full time?? How much do you pay Mojo, Chin, et al? Are they your EMPLOYEES now??
Hello. Nice to see the olds 350 running. It might have the number 5 cylinder heads which were good for building. Too bad it been neglected so long. Another good video. TY
Really cool car. I know vice grip loves his buicks and gm is seen as simple and all, but from a scrap yard to your shop to the road was exactly what needed done. I share your sentiment, the number of doors or length of the bed dont matter! Drive the damn thing.
Of course Oldsmobile made a 400! It was in the 1965 through 69 442. In 1964 unfortunately, they still used the 3:30 four barrel four speed and dual exhaust came to mean 4-barrel 400 cubic inch and dual exhaust
I agree, when my kids were small I sold my 76 Camaro and bought a 72 Dodge Dart 4 door so my wife and kids could go to Cruise-ins and Cars and Coffees with me plus we had a car that could just be a weekend fun car when the car club didn't have anything going on. The Dart was in REALLY good shape when I bought it, it only had 27,000, I bought it from a mechanic I knew who had bought it new for his wife and then less than a year later she and his sister was killed by a drunk driver, not in the Dart, in the sisters car and after he put the car in the back of the shop and covered it up until I bought it 30 years later. Yeah it took a lil bit to get running but he had done alot it before I bought it, the interior still looked brand new and it once it was taken out and blown out it ran like a top. I didn't do much to it, put all new gaskets on the motor, had it professionally detailed, lowered it, pulled the stock hub caps off and repainted the wheels and put some baby moons on it and took out the AM Radio and put in a AM FM radio in it. We had a ton of fun in that car and believe it or not it got ALOT of attention.
This one brings back memories. The second car I owned as a young buck. 72 cutlas supreme 350 Quadra jet rocket. Bought it from a car dealer in 82 when I was 18. I paid $1250.00. 60,000 miles on odometer. Clean inside and out. Has one whiskey dent in the front right fender. One owner car the old man that owned said puter in the ditch one night coming from the tavern. 😅Olympia Washington. Two years later I got stationed overseas and couldn’t ship it to Germany at time. Sold it for $900.00 to a soldier buddy. I still kick myself in head for selling it. Young and dumb. I work on that all the time. Not that it needed it, I just loved working on that car!
I’ll take my big 4door cruiser anyday of the week, there’s nothing wrong with a old 4dr. They’re just as cool and honestly you don’t see them nowhere near as much, glad you saved that cutlass though. It’s worth fixing up and cruising.
Awesome Mortske Monday! Enjoyed the full coverage of activities! I recently missed a bad ground on a truck recently! Fortunately like you I didn’t spend any money before I discovered my ignorance! 😂😂
We need a Mortske sleep app haha. Does anyone else use the old videos to go to sleep? Don't get me wrong this is probably my favorite channel and I love paying attention to the videos and have actually learned a lot, but man if i have a hard time sleeping I'll put on some old Mortske and it hasn't failed yet! Maybe that's why Duff is always sleeping
Loving the perspective here. You don't need the 1 of 10 you can't afford in 20 lifetimes, but the $800 beater found in a field that runs and has some extra doors will give you memories that can't be beaten by some show queen. Put some unwanted and too many doors hunk of junk on the road (safely fixing the stuff that needs fixed) and you'll get more joy out of it than something where you have to worry about things like dings, dents, scratches, breakdowns, road damage, dirty shoes on the carpet and all of that. They were made to be driven into the ground, so it if it has some time left, keep it going until there's nothing left. That was their purpose. Drive it until it's nothing but a pile of rust and dirt and look back on it with some great memories.
Had me worried there for a minute, thought it was going to fire right up and rip. But the trans and starter were like icing on the cake, Olds had a 425 in the 60's that would really haul those old boats around.
Out of the park! Another great video! Thanks. I was raised Lutheran and we always had beer at church events. May have just been the person in charge frowned on it. LOL As a little, in the summer. I remember, 5:30 am service , farmers afterwards all did field work. The women prepared, cooked and then littles helped set up for the picnic while the 10:00am service was going. Part of which was icing down beer , a keg or bottles. One time Grandpa Swank imbibed a bit much and I drove home, as Grandma Swank never drove. I was 9. Brand new 75' Ford F100 lol.
I agree with you about changing the filter ... In my experience with used transmissions NEVER open a transmission unless it doesn't work and you are prepared to rebuild it if/when changing the fluid & filter doesn't fix it... if the filter is clogged enough to need changing, the clutches are usually too far gone to half-@$$ it. if it moves leave it alone, if it doesn't then a new filter isn't going to miraculously replace the clutch material that clogged the old filter up.
I have a soft spot in my heart for an old cutlass. That driveshaft was made right down the road from my house at American Axle in Three Rivers, Michigan. 👍
The seat belt not letting go of Mortski and buzzer continually buzzing was the funniest part of the ole 2 plus hour talkalog. Thanks for leaving that 2 minutes in sir Morticus.
Poor mojo got dragged into this and wasn't about the camera now the crazy man is tearing down engines and slagging everyone lol. You guys are great! Keep up the fun and amazing videos bud!
Mortske getting the full retro 70s automotive experience there with the buzzer and not surprisingly came up with one of the two most common solutions with the other being track the wiring to that buzzer and yanking it out.
I had a 4 door cutlass puke green it was lots of fun back in the day .mortske you need a out of car camera one of those 360 things to get them great burnouts
Another great video. I love those 68-72 A-bodies. My first car was a 69 LeMans. 68-72 A body 2 doors and 4 doors have 2 different wheel bases. 2 Doors were 112" wheel base and 4 doors were 116" wheelbase. So I don't think you could swap the bodies.
Im only 37 almost 38... A few years ago I got the chance to own my dream car and that was a 69 4 door Impala. I loved the car. I wish I could have kept it. The motor was flippin great. How ever I had to get rid of it because the frame was completely shot and I did have the space to work on it and fix it the way it needed to be fixed properly.
Those rocker arm nuts are called poly locks. usually for solid lifter cams. set the rockers with a feeler gauge and turn the hex to jamb them tight into place so they dont back off.. old school hot rod stuff
Yay, Monday, a Mr. M and Duff video and Lordy a 2 hour one awesome! I had a 72 2 door Supreme, and it was so much fun! A girl I dated when I was in high school, her dad restored her a 71 Cutlass convertable, and it was awesome also! Olds made great starter cars when I was a young man! The last one I owned was a 77 Cutlass Salon that I bought from the original owner it was a v6 car, but i did have bucket seats and the console! Loved it! Gonna order me up a cozy!
I don't know if a 2bbl more door vehicle qualifies as a "muscle car" but what do I know 🤷♂️
sounds like a good opportunity for discussion

It's 2023. If it wants to identify as a muscle car, we just have to go along with it.

I have to say, I love how Mojo has embraced the madness. He seemed so shy in the beginning, now he sees the camera and just rolls with it.
He's over it!

The seat belt not letting go of Mortski and buzzer continually buzzing was the funniest part of the ole 2 plus hour talkalog. Thanks for leaving that 2 minutes in sir Morticus.
Nice car show, love car shows. Thanks for the ride along. 😊
glad you enjoyed it!
Yes indeed. I had a 76 Oldsmo bubble as I called it with a 350 rocket. Mean one wheeley peeley . Great save. Keep doing what you are doing brother
That thing is already sold HOLY CRAP! WOW Well loved the video my friend. God Bless and have a good one.
That's another reason why I like being a truck guy,
It's the one vehicle where having 4 doors is possibly cooler than 2.
Now that's a good morning when you get a mortske video
Liked the one-legger smoke show towards the end. Love those torquey Olds 350s
We can’t lie- we only watch these vids for Duff!! Just kidding!! Awesome show!! ❤️
no lie
I agree with you. The Oldsmobile gold on the Engines is a cool color!!
i own 2 GM a- bodies, so i really enjoyed this. i see no problem with 4 doors and wagons. you make projects out of what is available.
good cars!
Good words about the state of gearheads and fourdoor cars. Muy fun !
Duff and Mojo carrying another weeks video right to the top.. Duff and Mojo carrying another weeks video right to the top..
You know it!
Poor mojo got dragged into this and wasn't about the camera now the crazy man is tearing down engines and slagging everyone lol. You guys are great! Keep up the fun and amazing videos bud!
Not a bad rig. Definitely project worthy. Olds rockets are super stout and make easy power. Imma fan.
Mortske getting the full retro 70s automotive experience there with the buzzer and not surprisingly came up with one of the two most common solutions with the other being track the wiring to that buzzer and yanking it out.
Catching up on some Mortske vids I’ve missed recently. It’s a good Labor Day weekend. Hope you can take tomorrow off without losing the shop!
All good
Great viewing as always. Thanks
Ah yes Monday evening with Mortske, Duff and Mojo....👍👍
I had a 4 door cutlass puke green it was lots of fun back in the day .mortske you need a out of car camera one of those 360 things to get them great burnouts
Agreed. Would love to see Duff perched in front seat as the gravels fly out back. 😊
Good save I like it! Can’t wait to see what you do with it.
Those rocker arm nuts are called poly locks. usually for solid lifter cams. set the rockers with a feeler gauge and turn the hex to jamb them tight into place so they dont back off.. old school hot rod stuff
Cool
The ol Gutlass looks pretty nice with new shoes. Amzing how wheels make a car.
The seatbelt buzzer had me laughing so hard I was crying! Ordered my Mortske swag and looking forward to wearing it at work…
Much appreciated for your purchase
"The Great Pumpkin" - for the orange Ford. Ever since the first time you featured that truck that name seemed like a good fit.
Love it! "Don't get it right, just get it runnin' ". Frieberger
dang right!
We all know, you have the best luck with starters. Lol that buzzer.
Great video. Always enjoy watching get those cars running again. Digging on your new hats too!
Glad you like them!
That is awesome!
