I've been there many times myself and you always feel like the world's most intelligent and powerful man when it finally happens. When I was 18 I bought a $500 car (a 1990 Dodge Spirit 2.5 turbo) from the dealership that I worked at and it wasn't running. My uncle kept telling me, "you'll never get that thing running!" An hour later I checked the timing belt and it was off a few teeth, so I took it off, lined everything up, reinstalled the belt, turned the key, and she fired right up. I drove that car for quite a while before I took a sharp turn in boost and the oil sloshed to one side of the oil pan (that's almost shaped like a cone) and it snapped a connecting rod. It was a 2.5 turbo I engine and it had 170k miles on it, so it was fairly weak to begin with. I scrapped it. Those engines only made 150 HP and the turbo was a TINY Mitsubishi TE04H. I bought a larger Dodge Daytona T3 turbo for it, but it blew up before I could modify it. I'd LOVE to have another one to tinker with.

My dad had one of these with the 425, disk front brakes, silver, black interior, and radials... Great to be seen in, but not a great date car. Moms old three holer with bench seats, the best... 🤓👍

Glad to see another Buick back in operation!
Cool old Riviera! Good thing you happened to get one with LSD! Find a 64 or 65 with the hidden headlights for an encore. Looking at that front drum brake, you can see that Buick was trying hard to make it stop well without front discs. Yeah, the body is more than just a bit "Chewy" but it still looks good!
Thanks!
Much appreciated Mark!!
Second time enjoying this video and car! This time in May 2023. Great stuff!
The Duffanator is just loving life with his head out the window. 😁 My dad had a 72 Ford pickup. 390 with an automatic. Pulled a camper like nobody's business. feel free to use that nickname if you like. You can even mention me😁👍
Awesome job. Buick was ahead of time with that one. Always awesome to watch.
Wow was replacing that ball joint tough. Good job figuring out a way to get it done without loosing any fingers!
I'm sitting here listening to names going...."no that sounds dumb" and then you come to the part where you find a floor mat that says John... Lmfao my name's John! Basically telling me, shut up kid 🤣❤️! Love watching your videos tho Mort, I'm in the process of reviving my old 1955 Buick I saved from behind a cow pasture last year. 322 nailhead, minimal parts replaced, Just got it running recently actually! I listen and watch your videos while I work on my car, and I cannot thank you enough for all the motivation. The laughter also keeps me calm in those tough moments.
Glad to hear it John!
Best thing i have seen in a long time ! Love Duff ! And i love Rivieras watched the whole thing cracked up when you go for a rip with duff 😍must be a popular channel mad Comercials all good 👍
I really think you should keep it. I’ve never seen you smile that much in a video!
Buicks are the most awesome of the GM lineup if you ask me
Great video with the Rivi Mortske!! Love that car. Lost the engine in my Electra. 455 spun a rod bearing. See you next time. Big Al.
You did MiJo proud ! Him and Lubey having a couple Yuks !
Somebody needs to get this one, it's worth saving, have to do the whole body from scratch, wish I'd have the funds and the time to do it! Thank God Mortske saved another one from the old Cleckler, Thumbs Up....
Because they're FUN Mortske!!
Saw my first one when I was 8 or 9. A friend of the family had won it. It was really an impressive car back then. Now after seeing your video, I want one!
What a lovely old girl, I miss made in the USA, I respect any thing made will. Growing up as a young kid this old iron was everywhere, most people problem didn't think it be so valuable now days!
How neat is that😁 , love that where is that from?
Another UA-cam channel
I enjoyed. Your earlier video of your dad's new rear-end but I needed more Mortske so here I am
Much appreciated Gary!
Loved watching you get the "Riverboat" running and burning the tires! I had a "68 Galaxy with a 390 in it back in the day, I smoked the tires every chance I got.
You just could'nt resist beatin' that thing ,could ya ?!😄Donuts with the Doggy!!😉
Nope
63 and 64 look like your car the 65 had the clamshell headlights I had a 63 back when they were younger and they're a nice ride and even the itty bitty little 401 was an absolute Stormer. Thanks from Virginia USA
The video was great, the burnout was awesome! Those casings really gave a good show!
Glad you enjoyed!
Very cool! I grew up in one of these cars (‘63, single 4, 425ci. gold with white interior, all the options). Mom sold it just before I got my drivers license, guess I understand now. The 67 Chevelle with a 250 six and auto trans was probably a safer option 🙂.
Sweet color combo!
"I want that Purple stuff." You are killing me! LOL!
Always loved those Rivieras. I was most partial to the 1970 model, but then I started to grow attached to the new 1971 design. It was so crazy that it became lovable. Oh, and I really enjoyed Duff!
Right on!
My dad had one of these with the 425, disk front brakes, silver, black interior, and radials... Great to be seen in, but not a great date car. Moms old three holer with bench seats, the best...
🤓👍
Good to know!
That was crazy watching that ball joint break like that the thing must of been on it's way out and just a little moving and tugging let it go. At lest it did not mess up the fender anything
The buick came right back with a little loving. What a good performance drivetrain and motor. An excellent barnfind.
I had a ‘68 Wildcat 2-door hardtop with a 430 and glass packs. Best sounding car when you let off the gas, torque for miles and comfortable. If I had only kept it. Those old Buicks were nice. Always thought the Riviera was the best looking car.
