"I wonder why they call him Sugarf-
ok, never mind."
same here, LMAO
That’s exactly what i asked my bf and got sent this video 😆😆
They call him sugarfoot because his legs plays those bass like Sweet as a sugar.
Insane no wonder why Michael Jackson’s pick this guy because he’s on another level amazing 👍👍👍
What he’s doing with the bass pedal, to me, is the most impressive thing here, both in terms of endurance and skill. I’m certainly not an expert on drummers, but I’ve never seen a drummer hover their ankle like that and tap out the bass as if it was working the same as his hand.
Check out John Bonham from Led Zeppelin...
Hovering the ankle Makes it easier but its still impressive
As a drummer I can say it's pure muscle memory and still really exhausting
i thought so too...like this man is called "sugarfoot"....now i know what sugar means...its pretty sweet
Most of his kicks are 1 or 2 notes with a small space between so he's probably just doing a double stroke on those. That's how I usually would do something like that and it gets easy after you've done it a lot. Your foot builds up the muscle to do it all day
He’s the guy that says “yeah I play a little bit of the drums”
Right then knock the whole kit out its frame.
Haha actually funny
Just legendary
"I dabble..."
Lil bit of church praise 🙏
2:13 He’s so good even the drumsticks bend for him
Leigh Deliva Matrix speed
He’s too powerful
they bend to his will
😂 no I think it's the rolling shutter of the cameras
@@garvsabbarwal3000 No need camera to see that bending illusion. Grab a pen/pencil on the very end keeping it horizontal and loose. Then do an up and down motion with your arm. Not too much but keep your limits around 5-10 cm vertically without going horizontally. No the pen will appear to bend.
While this wasn't the most mind-blowing drum solo I've ever seen, one thing is awesome: The guy picks a really nice beat and builds an entire solo around that doesn't get boring at all for almost 8 minutes. He doesn't overplay, even in a solo. That shows restraint and taste and deserves quite a bit of respect, IMO.
Quite a bit?!
@@alxdava2004 Yes? As in "a lot", "a considerable amount"? I mean, I'm no native speaker, but that's usually the meaning of "quite a bit"?
100 percent true
Only two other solos I can say that this is up with the two bands were iron butterfly Anna vida Godiva And then the band rush! Their drummer unbelievable
For sure but needs to be more inventive
He’s good but he’s no Neil Peart or Brian Downey 👍
As a drummer, all I can say is wow. I'm absolutely astonished by how fast he can control the foot pedal. Definitely one of my biggest influences. Dude should be called cocaine foot, absolutely insane!
hahahaha cocaine foot?
Vorallem wie lange 😂
Jonathan "Espresso-foot" Moffett.
And all that while keeping a straight face. Nothing but respect for that man.
He's «in the zone».
What has that have to so with anything xdd
The man is just doing what he does
U have to focus
Well, he’s been playing for like 40 years so he got the muscle memory for drumming.
This man is why Chuck Norris never tried drumming.
What is this 2007?
lmao 😂
I think his leg IS Chuck Norris!
SHEER INTIMIDATION
😂😂😂😂😂
6:11 He is playing a straight 8th with his right hand while maintaining 16ths with his left hand and right foot in a snare-kick-kick-snare-kick-kick pattern. WTF.
That's not too hard though
How's THAT for independence? :P
I think he's only playing 8th's with his left hand, and his right hand is playing triplets together with his right foot in the pattern that you mentioned. it would be rhythmically impossible to play 8ths in a snare-kick-kick pattern, since triplets are by default 3 ticks per beat, and 8ths are only 2 ticks per beat.
@@Pizzanakin You're incorrect. 8th note triplets are a thing. It's simply an extra note in the same rhythmic space.
He's playing alot of good Polyrythms.
Legend says that drum machines get nervous when he's around.
That't why they call him "Sugarfoot". His leg muscles must be like concrete.
Sweet Concrete. That bass pedal in that pocket is amazing!
I was about to say something very similar. Just incredible playing.
I can't believe it is possible to make that sound with only one bass

Honestly though, while the techniques he's using may be common knowledge to drummers and something anyone with an intermediate skill level could pull of with enough practice, him just pulling all of this stuff out of thin air so easily and combining it in a way that actually sounds good is damn impressive. The execution is as flawless as it can get. That's what sets him apart from even other pros imo: even when he's improvising without any pattern set in stone Every. Hit. Is. Perfect. His concentration...is like rock solid...nobody can break...raw power
No facial expressions and no musical expression, but if you ever need a guy when your drum machine breaks down he's the guy, just so long as you don't have any interesting patterns programmed.
onesong2001, I completely disagree with your assessment. Comparing his skill-set and talent to a programming device is an absolute insult!! Obviously you don't recognize GREATNESS when you see or hear it.
@@R4Love365 Why did you type 'greatness' in caps? Do you think that makes your comment less ridiculous? It doesn't.
If you want to be educated I can give you links to some truly great drummers but I don't think you're really interested in music.
@@onesong2001 You obviously have no idea what a pocket drummer is and what's actually ridiculous is your attempt to try and undermine this man's incredible talent. He's a clear example of becoming one with the instrument. He's playing multiple rhythms while sustaining the foot-work on the bass drum for an extended period of time. That's GREATNESS!!!
Sick. Total control of his instrument at all times. Total mastery. So clean, so precise. Fantastic!

@@johnnyrivera257 Hahahahaaha That's both profound and hilarious. 🤔 😂
Powerful observation right there pal.
I’m a drummer and it’s happened a few times with me. You’re so into what you’re doing that you forget the world around you exists. It’s almost as if you become one with the instrument and your soul begins to speak through the music you’re playing. It’s like the musician’s version of inner peace.
He played as if michael was dancing, amazing, truly amazing.
He needs to at least make it LOOK like he's having a difficult time doing this......
The audacity for him to effortlessly do this is quite insulting 🙃
Not really insulting. This is a lifetime of pure dedication and love for music on display. Not thousands of hours, not tens of thousands, probably hundreds of thousands of hours of dedication to his craft.
A simple ostinato played with charm! LOVED IT!
Just look at him, all smooth and calm. He's the G.O.A.T. He's making those sticks look like they're bending. Wish I could play as great as him. My drumming is rusty. Great job, Jonathan. You rock!

Awesome Sauce I wasn't sure if I would be able to learn but I bought a kit about 6 months ago and I love playing. Like other skills worth having in this life, it takes practice.
lmao? Bought an E-kit a month ago myself. It gets easier every time I sit down at the kit. I still have to work on using my left foot but I surprise myself with how I've managed to separate the kick drum from my right hand. Playing quarter notes on the ride while 8th/16ths on the kick. Oddly enough I was practicing heel toe doubles through most of junior high and highschool without even knowing it. 20 years later it took me all of a day to figure out how to make it work with an actual kick pedal. I only wish I had started decades ago.
FUCKING HELL you made me spit water on my monitor HAHAHAHAHAHA. THIS COMMENT IS SO UNDERRATED

Man, my nephew is a professional drummer and he amazes me every time I watch him play. However, watching "Sugerfoot" literally made my whole leg cramp because I was trying to emulate his right foot movement, not possible. I am always amazed by drummers, they can use every limb independently, they are the backbone of every group. These guys have to be in exceptional shape to keep up that kind of movement, impressive, most impressive;)
