    As soon as the beat started up you can see his facial expression change to all business. Awesome cymbal grabs. Beat was dead on, not over playing. This is a lesson for all future drummer's. You don't have to fit in a bunch of fills to sound great. Once again great video.

    • @UltraCodex66
      @UltraCodex66 5 років тому +4

      Michigan Matt well, it depends on the intention. As a drummer, I will play even such an easy thing but if we/I need a more interesting composition, I add stuff as I see drums equal to all instruments. It works in here but tracks like R U Mine? would be nothing without the syncopation courtesy of Matt Helders ;)

    • @UltraCodex66
      @UltraCodex66 5 років тому

      Scott Whittle ye but just because it's pop it doesn't mean you can't have something more. Fills are obvious but I personally would, for example, try to use the whole note triplet divisions to create a back-beat. Check out Clocks, when Chris sings with that kind of beat underneath, it sounds like he's moving further

    Your skill and stamina on the drums is off the charts.
    These no music understand people may not recognize what you do. But those of us with some experience in music or band understand.
    To be able to keep up that tempo with michael's songs through a whole concert with basically no breaks. RESPECT!!

    It takes a lot of discipline for a professional world-class drummer to play like that, he could probably tear it apart on the drums 100%, but that's called discipline, that's called playing what's needed and making sure everything you are playing is perfect. Very well done complete world-class musician right there!

      Or just people who are not as easily impressed as people who know nothing about music. There are thousands of drummers far more skilled and, most important, interesting. He literally drives the same standard beat through the whole bloody song. Now compare that to Philippe Boucher or John Longstreth or George Kollias or Hannes Großmann or or or. Pop music fans are just easy to impress because their brains are set for the same 4 chords over and over again and they will call everything genius that is not too complex for their simple minds.
