Katie Stubblefield is the youngest person to receive a face transplant in U.S. history. What aspect of her story resonates with you the most?
National Geogrdsáfica
How she got her face reconstruction if it's a failed suicide attempt the United States should try to do combination of British & Australian gun laws because both countries have Columbine type shootings and more recently Texas Houston area in which rifles and pistols were involved.
Where’s the rest of the story? -__- not visiting your website, upload a second video with the update
National Geographic I dont know because you didn't give us ANY of her story. You basically only told us she needs a transplant but didn't tell us why or anything else. So how would we know her story, magically?

Doctors and Surgeons are a different kind of humans.
Why is it that when someone does something incredible people put them above the rest. They’re humans who accomplished things, like other humans can
Nirmal Ranadive without those that donate their bodies to science to train surgeons and doctors none of this would be possible they are the true heroes consider donating your body to science
Uhh what's wrong?
Doctor n surgeon are same like mechanics and Programmer.
They all manipulate living things. Manipulate creature.
Even tho codes is not really alive, but it looks alive. And so is robot and vehicles.
@@laviejaagria1341 I used to think some early surgeons/wannabe surgeons were psychopaths ... I mean they wanted know how the body works by cutting up corpses and by other ways..

They usually cover the face during any other kind of surgery to help them ease the fear, so this is definitely next level stuff..

The fact that she tried to commit suicide by shooting herself, obviously she survived but her face was disfigured. The name of the donor is Andrea Schneider who died due to drug overdose but always wanted to became a donor.

She tried to commit suicide, that's why her face was messed up. She then got the face transplant to repair her face somewhat. The suicide attempt was the first event.

I had to partially cover my eyes watching this. I pray the surgery was a success and that her recovery is going well. So much respect and gratitude for the doctors and especially to the donor. May she rest in peace.
Same as me. I covered the screen with my hands I got tears in my eyes. I'm not really stable to watch surgeries like this. Great respect to the donor, doctors and also to Katie's family. For giving her courage to live. 🤝
It must feel strange for the doner’s family to see their daughter’s face on a other human being.
They will feel happy because everytime they see the donor it will remind of their happy child
There is a video that shows a brother of the donor very please to see the patient with that new face, but as it is a transplant it doesnt look like the donor...

sourabh just so you know, to a disabled person, this comment is really kind of bullshit. They aren't there to be your inspiration porn. My aunt was a double amputee and it really hurt her feelings when people treated her like an inspiration, because it's basically saying, "Oh, at least *I* don't have to live the life that this person lives." Or "If they can do it, I surely can do it better since I don't have their disability." And I hope I don't have to explain why both of these sentences are absolutely devastating for someone to hear.

Makes you step back and realize that the problems in your life may seem bad but are nothing compared to what others go through. Simply having a face is something to be appreciative of. God bless her.
I wouldn't say they're nothing compared to anyone else's, that just invalidates and thats unfair. But I do get what you're saying. Everybody has they're own stuff at varying levels. It'll always matter
The fact that somebody else is having things worse doesnt invalidate the fact that i m not going through a rough time.
@@aninditabhunia395 But it gives a perspective to process and analyze those issues in a more positive way instead of surrendering to negative thoughts and emotions and become defeated and depressed.
@@vivek27789 I think people should feel sadness and wallow for awhile in what makes them feel hopeless. There's always this idea that we shouldn't be sad and should be happy constantly and to not feel hopeless or depressed or down but as someone once told me, "you have to feel it to heal it". So, wallow, cry for a month or more, and slowly people come out of it. True depression is something else entirely. That's something that has to be treated, but sadness is natural.
Bro ur literally invalidating people's problems by saying that they are not valid because some people have it worse than them. People have different problems, let's not race with them. It might make people feel like they aren't heard.

Thank you for those kind words! National Geographic spent two years documenting with unprecedented access given by the Cleveland Clinic, and more important, Katie's family, to tell their story and show the remarkable procedure in a way that has never before been seen.
Caddis I mean I’m speaking more in terms of how far we’ve come medically and technology wise in the whole world in as a whole in general. I’m sure in the 1600s they never would of thought such medical advances would be possible. It’s amazing to see how smart we are in those terms. I agree it all comes at a price and there is a lot of carnage in this world too. But ya gotta stop and smell the roses sometimes. Can’t be bitter about what we’ve done to the world every second. You’ll never live & as short as life is, you gotta try and make the best with what we’ve got.
