I love this story, the fact that NatGeo was willing to do this for two years is dedication not only to their content, but also to show how she recovered from her almost fatal mistake:)
Thank you for watching! We were given unprecedented access by the Cleveland Clinic in Ohio, where the transplant was performed-and, more important-by Katie and her parents, Alesia and Robb Stubblefield, and Sandra Bennington.
I’m physically challenged guy I can’t walk by birth and I undergone 14 surgeries for both my legs and I can’t stretch my hands too, but I got wonderful parents and I’m working in one of the MNC company since 10 years and seeing this video made me cry scary emotional love and thanks to god for making her life with happiness 😊❤
Omkar Maharana not really. she’s crazy. she tried to blow her head off because of a simple breakup. (trying to (kill)ing yourself for such a stupid reason is a very selfish thing to do. she has family that clearly loves her, yet she was selfish enough to attempt suicide, only thinking about herself when so many people love her. her problems were normal. and because of her unprecedented, ridiculously stupid decision she has to live with something she deserves for being so unbelievably selfish
@@sro1756 She definitely isn't crazy, we're all human and that MEANS we make mistakes, she didn't think clearly at that moment with all her life pressures .We are all born different with different judgment abilities , hormone levels and circumstances, if you had a daughter who suffered the same way I bet you'll be talking in a different way. I'm not saying it's 100% not her fault but she definitely shouldn't be reminded every day about her past mistakes, afterall this is why we are humans, to learn and become better, I hope she can look into the mirror without having flashbacks, Not that I want her to forget completely but so she can move on, she's too young to be burdened with all of this.
Until you've been in her situation I dont think you'll ever feel her pain. I've felt as low as she did on that day and I sympathize with her. I'm glad I survived and I'm sure she is too despite her disability.
how does one want to end their pain so much that they are willing to put that pain on others to an infinite degree? pain is usually temporary, unless one kills themselves, then the pain is permanent, for anyone that ever knew them. I get sometimes a suicidal person feels they are a burden but the real burden is the aftermath, that's the real pain. she was sad about one person so she hurt everyone that loved her, selfish.
@@wanderlust1229 i see what you’re saying but to a point it’s selfish to want them to stay. in this situation i see why you say that but sometimes people aren’t depressed because of one person, they can be depressed just because of a chemical imbalance in their brain. and they can be fighting everyday to want to live. but we don’t live for others, we live for ourselves so thinking someone should stay here for someone else-
@@klassykrissy2284 I’m a psychology major, there is absolutely no reason that keeping someone on our earth is selfish, the amount of people that can help will overwhelm you but the person needs to say they need it and some people don’t want help or don’t want to admit they are depressed or have any metal health problems and that’s a massive problem, getting help is pretty much guaranteed to give you a better life and can save your life aswell and save the people around you from heartache because imagine your daughter shoots herself how would that make you feel by saying it’s selfish took keep her here when she doesn’t want to makes me think you would enjoy that, but I promise you that you wouldn’t she psychologically killed her mother and family when she pulled that trigger now she became a real burden to her family and ruined her quality of life, very stupid in my opinion.
@@wanderlust1229 Suicide it’s probably the worst thing you can do to your family the amount of pain that causes it’s incredible, some cases even parents end up killing themselves because they think it’s their fault and can’t deal with it, genuinely the worst thing you can do to a mother, and she pulled the trigger because of a friend that’s terrible and look at her now yeah she’s alive which it good but imagine if she got help for her depression if it’s just that it’s so easy to help even if she had Dysthymic disorder or even bipolar disorder that isn’t the end of the world and she would have been helped and saved heartache for family but she pulled the trigger I just don’t understand in what way this could be better even if she didn’t survive nothing is better and now she’s handicapped for life it’s really sad
It’s interesting how Katie’s initial intent was to die but once she felt the suffering of what she had done to herself, instead of still choosing to die she chose to live. It’s fascinating. She was closer to death yet fought to live. I’m curious to know her thought process throughout all of this. She’s a miracle and I think she can help a lot of people who struggle with suicidal ideation.
rem stew It’s almost always the way, to add on top of what you’re saying it’s also seeing how concerned your family are, how they rally around to support you even though you made one stupid decision, they can see the hurt. Speaking from experience.
Well they actually talked about in an article how she doesn’t remember ever thinking of killing herself or doing it. They had to tell her at the hospital
Watching this video again almost a year later. I love all of the people who come together for one person- because that’s what humans do. We are never alone. Katie lost her face, but boy oh boy did she gain a lot of friends, new family and immense strength. Love is the most powerful thing on this planet. This video proves it.
RendiSport that doesn’t mean she isn’t deserving of a second chance we all make mistakes some worse than others but we all sometimes get the gift of another day of life our second chance to make a different decision
I mean, She did shoot herself. she got a second chance because she could afford it. Other people who were victims of others, or victims of war, might be more deserving, but still not get a transplant, because they couldn't afford it. And... the donor checked off that she wanted to be an organ donor. I don't think she was aware that YOUR FACE was considered an organ. I don't know if I'd be ok with being an organ donor, now that I know that. What do you think?
Brooks Matetich Of course it’s devastating. I don’t have a daughter but I only have to imagine something like this happening to any of my family member and I can feel the pain the parents are going through. This is not some time consuming household chore to be done.

The doctors did a good job. Not just in the face transplant, but in patient care and supporting/preparing the family for life after the transplant. Katie’s so funny, im so happy that she find happiness now. Im also so surprised over the result, it looks so much better than i expected, the doctors did a very very good job. She looks so beautiful.

This video proves that no matter what happens there are people out there who have got bigger problems than you!
ツSRKKO 👍

This is such a sad story. It’s amazing to see how much she’s recovered. Stay strong Katie!
@@wanderlust1229 I see your point.

Yes! Her family is so special! This story is very comforting.
rem stew It’s almost always the way, to add on top of what you’re saying it’s also seeing how concerned your family are, how they rally around to support you even though you made one stupid decision, they can see the hurt. Speaking from experience.
Well they actually talked about in an article how she doesn’t remember ever thinking of killing herself or doing it. They had to tell her at the hospital

Women always try to kill themselves and fail. Then they get a ton of attention and resources, what a coincidence!

Right, It's beautiful.....but also cruel.
But... he shot herself
