How incredibly famous was Elvis that future superstars from every walk of life proudly tell their "meeting Elvis" story as if that's one of the greatest moments of their lives.
I remember hearing Paul McCartney recall meeting Elvis with John, George and Ringo. Even Paul was awestruck meeting The King and this was in the later half of the 60's so The Beatles were absolutely massive when this happened.
@@vitalogynevermind6829 In 2019 this "dead flame" generated $39 million dollars.
@@vitalogynevermind6829 Britney Spears and Justin Timberline and Bruno Mars, All big fans of Elvis
It's the same thing as Frank Sinatra
Superstars of that era always felt overcome to meet Elvis... we are talking rat-pack, Led Zepplin, any A-list actor, it simply does not end. Heads of state including POTUS, world leaders with no exception.
Every story I've heard about meeting Elvis is cool. The king
Buster Bloodvessel. try Tom Jones's story. they were pretty close apparently.
I love Elvis, but how is this a cool story? If anybody else did this, it would be odd
I understand now. When I heard someone say, " when I hear the king there only one king I know"
@@04dram04 Elvis is not any body else. Period :)
Jesus is the king.
The most amazing thing about the Elvis story is his huge outsized life was all lived in about a twenty year period. Then he was gone...and he is still the most known person on earth.
100% correct.
in a very very short career, he left behind critically acclaimed recordings in multiple genres of music.
truly remarkable
So sad.😭
Facts!!!
...and that is what breaks my heart. Twenty years then gone. 😔
Facts
“Son you have an oblique sense of humor.” - Elvis is the greatest
Elvis had something very outwordly about him. He was almost from another planet. He was the King.
He seemed exceptionally comfortable in his own skin, which is not something most of us can say.
The word you're looking for is otherworldly.
And a bit immature
In 1969, someone asked him if there was anyone else he'd rather be, and he said, 'You kidding?'.
If I were him, I would've said the same thing. He knew what he had. Depression doesn't care, though. It'll take you away, if you let it.
He really was.
Elvis -- the only person ever to say "wanna see my guns?" and be literal about it... 💪 💪
In South Carolina, "Wanna see my guns?" is small talk at parties.
He did have a gun show.
@@catfishcooler1566 Cool. In Commiefornia, they say 'Wanna see my HIV?'.
"Only person" mhm...
@@CooManTunes lol and in red states people are unable to ask anything since they're on ventilators with covid
He had someone to get him away from talking to people but wanted to stay with Steve, what a Dam honour
Thank you Steve Martin for your funny, yet respectful story about Elvis. Stern, naturally wanted to take it in another direction, but you didn't let him. Kudos to you and I knew I always loved you and your wit...oblique or not!
...and Elvis said "it's ok". Must have been amazing to be a part of. I can only imagine.
That's just how awesome Steve is though haha
Elvis is an American treasure. Wish he was still here👑
He is.
Elvis is World- treasure.....
He brings us all together through our Love for him..No matter which Nationality, ethnicity, colour , creed , Class, generation..
Though Yes, my Respect and Love to his country, USA that nurtured him and gave him room to be the Legend he is...
Love from India...
Steve Martin has looked the same for the last 30 years
Same with Howard!
It's not fair. 😂
Well that's what happens when you go grey in your 20s.
He looks older to me
Try forty
It always gives me goose bumps to hear these great stars talk about Elvis in such genuine fashion.
Imagine being able to say you met Elvis. What a privilege. 💫🤴🏻
Elvis was such a badass
Steve Martin and Martin Short are such gems
I agree ! Love them both
Elvis was one of a kind ! The thing about it “ he really didn’t realize just how unique and special he was 🕺he would have probably told you ‘ l put my britches on the same way as everyone else! but thank you “thank You very much 🕺💙💁♀️🙏🙏
Elvis was the KING👑
Thank you, very much...
Was?
ELVIS is the KING 😎
ELVIS IS KING 👑
Women wanted him (still do)
Men wanted to be him (still do)
TCB⚡️TLC⚡️
He Still Is and Will Always Be! The King of All Music!!! He's ELVIS!
Steve Martin was a comedy genius and to me the 70s and 80s was the best era with the most talent.
Were you born in Arizona and then later moved to Babylonia?
Include the 90’s with jerry Seinfeld Adam sander, Chris rock and Chris Farley !
@@claudiocorleone7856 include the 30's to the 90's
Hey, did you ever.....get small? 😂
Oh, Elvis. What a classic.
Everyone shows up at the studio but the hosts lol
And?
I wasn’t expecting that either to be honest lol.
And it’s disrespectful
Honestly it's kinda a great idea. Every show now has people giving interviews from their homes, trailers, hotel rooms. This way it looks more profesional and it toots Howards horn a bit which is probably one of the main reasons for this set up
What a joke. Double vaccinated, in great shape, has access to top doctors. Basically the bigger risk would be driving over.
I love these types of stories. Can't make this up.
Elvis rules
All others Drool! 😂
I used to wander around and listen to different neighbors record collections when I was a kid. I did this in the 70's. In 78 I found Steve Martin. Lets get small. I must have listen to that until they kicked me out. Thank you Mr. Martin. You made me so happy.
Vegas Icons...Elvis, Ann-Margret, Steve Martin.
Love Elvis.
Mr. Martin- class act!
He was HUGE and a gigantic influence on so many musicians and comedians. Elvis was the Beatles before there were the Beatles.
No, he wasn't. Elvis couldn't write songs. He could sing though
@@paulolapa3040 He could definitely sing a Bob Dylan song better than Bob Dylan could. I heard "Don't Think Twice It's Alright" a lot as a child (thank you, Mum and Dad's vinyl collection!) before I knew Dylan wrote it.
Elvis was a true Patriot! Even tough he had guns, He was so loving he wouldn’t hurt a fly!
Unless it was Mike Stone!
His TV
Or Robert Goulet heard he would shoot the tv if he saw him on it
You were blessed...you met the KING
So thankful Howard is bringing all these stories to life
He is not the KING by mistake… He earned that title and past 30 or so years, he remains until today !!!
Elvis is the KING
"Oblique" is good.
If Elvis had said "Obsequious, purple, and clairvoyant..." THAT would have been amazing!
That's a nice thing to say.
I got the reference.
Grandmother would be so proud of you, Moon Pie.
Get all excited and go to a yawning festival..
That story made me giggle out loud.😊
Wow what a great memory.
Martin: Why do you carry 3 guns for?
Elvis: Because I can.
LOL!!! 😂🤣
Best elvis story I heard so far
Watch tom Jones story on Elvis on the toilet while Tom was taken a shower. It was hilarious
Find the Alice Cooper story, its hilarious too. There was another famous lady that met Elvis at the same time and she tells the same story as Alice so it makes that much better. I think it was Liza Minelli but I could be mistaken. If not it may have been Elizabeth Taylor, I always get them 2 mixed up for some reason
Steve Martin is so great. He and John Candy are amazing, together or apart.
Hard to put into words, just how much I love Mr Martin.. 💥😎
Hello from England
Wow What a great story that Steve tells about meeting Elvis
Its wonderful to hear these stories as there are sadly less and less people alive because we are looking back over 50 years in some cases
❤️❤️❤️❤️💓💓💓🥲🥲👌🏻👌🏻😊😊😄😄👍👍☀️🙂🙂❤️❤️
Graceland is expensive but worth seeing at least once if you have any interest in Elvis.
It's the ultimate pilgrimage, for any music fan. The entire world wants to visit Elvis' home and pay their respects, both emotionally and financially. THE KING EARNED IT ALL!
Went in 89 , wasn't expensive then ( : , plus the planes across the street
im dreamin bout since 20 years or longer...
@@CooManTunes no it's not the ultimate for any music fan, that is just your opinion, shared by you.
@@bwana-ma-coo-bah425 I laugh at all of your deceased ancestors. :'D
What a sweet story. Always good to hear ur heroes are what u hoped.
What a fantastic story, gotta love Steve. Peace
Elvis was safety conscious with guns, unless it involved a television.
so true!
And yogurt! In Ginger Alden's book, she describes how he went on a yogurt kick. He'd eaten 12 containers and wanted more so he asked Ginger to get some for him. She refused so he shot a hole in the wall above the bed. He knew how to get his point across!
@@francesmalzahn9994 That's actually a very good book.
To be fair it was only when Robert Goulet was on the tv
LoL! True
Cool story, thanks for sharing.
Awesome. The King 🤴 and Steve tales..
The King and The Jerk
That was a cool story
Until the end of time...Elvis will always be one of the most famous people in human history. He gave the world so much and asked for so little in return.
It probably is their most wonderful moments.
Pricilla and Ann Margret are two of the most beautiful women whom ever lived. Good lord
Elvis was a musical god back in the late 60s early 70s, even the Beatles were impressed with him when they met him.
Amen to that👍
@@GlennTillema
I got the feeling they would have envied his looks and singing ability, & he would have envied their songwriting & musicianship.
I agree. But I also bet they wouldn't make the top five. Not saying Elvis was a player,,,
Elvis was a woman too. It's pretty obvious Elvis was a trainee
Elvis was the original celebrity.
Murders in the building is epic!love Steve,Marty,Selena rocks with these old men
I found it to be oblique..
martin short interjecting 'you can tell by the story'..hahahaha...god I miss having friends that are that banterish
Amazing story - love this!
Thank you very much
gotta say this is better than all my Elvis stories
That’s an awesome story
Yes. Very oblique.
Go Astro’s 👍🏻
que gran anecdota
Wow, what a poignant moment, Elvis liking ya. Marty's quip was pitch perfecto..
Thank you very much.
Look up the Joe Namath interview in which he talks about his meeting Elvis. Really shows his personality
Not often that you hear Howard laugh this hard....
I just keep thinking about Will Sasso's Elvis impersonation and that skit when he's in the limo. :D
Le grandi star che parlano della più grande star stellare del pianeta , non e’ da poco. ELVIS TCB per sempre 👑❤️⚡️🎼🇺🇸🙅🇮🇹🥰❤️
Whenever you see Steven Martin in person, look at his shadow, you will start to see Martin short. 😂

I love that that Elvis was so much in the guns
He even had a machine gun lol
Aww...."It's ok". I'm bawling, lol.
Awesome story
Wanna see my guns? LOL... Elvis was "oblique".
Gosh, he was such a unique gem.
Nobody comes even close.
The story Alice Cooper tells about meeting Elvis is funny also.
The story Robert Plant tells about meeting Elvis is also funny 👍🤣

I’m enjoying their new show on Hulu🙂
Great story he told on Letterman years ago

“Oblique.” Elvis was performing factor analysis on the content of Martin’s act! 😂
