I Had an Opportunity To sing at a high school where JD Summer and the Stamps were the Main part of the program . I really enjoyed visiting with JD and another member of the group whose last name is ( Enoch) I think that is the correct spelling. I asked him of what it was like to have worked with Elvis and he was kind enough to answer my questions of which he had probably been asked hundreds of times! God has had many opportunities for me. Especially saving me from a most horrid life!

Had he placated others less he might have done the more gritty blues rock he was very capable of doing. Lennon said, "Before Elvis there was nothing.".
Elvis didn't die as a has been either! He passed on August 16 and just a few weeks earlier, on June 26, Elvis received a new Golden Record, as he just sold 1 million copies of his last album, entitled "Moddy Blue". Also, each one of the concerts he did until his last tour was sold out!

The Beatles met Elvis back in 1965, while they were playing at the Hollywood Bowl! They went to Elvis’ Bel Air mansion and they were in awe, to see their musical idol!
Great to hear this story about Elvis told by Robert Plant. The day Elvis died I was 17 and listening to a radio broadcast on WGN of the Chicago Cubs vs the Pittsburgh Pirates. The Cubs’ announcer Vince Lloyd broke the news in the middle of an inning. Can’t remember how he said it but he was shocked and so were we all. Gone too soon.

And yet the largest ticket selling concert attendance act when both existed in the 70s was Zeppelin. And Rolling Stone Magazine has been known to kiss the ass of The Beatles, Stones and Dylan for 50 years. I'm well aware of music history and I recognize the Stones significance, but they aren't inventive as with The Beatles, Floyd and yes Zeppelin. They are a band that rehashes their Americana influences genetically and sometimes quite well. But they are no were as artistic as their die hards claim them to be. You appear to be the one who knows very little about Zeppelin's contributions to popular music. Check it out.

Great interview. My mom was 2 years older than Elvis so I grew up with Elvis being part of our household. I saw all his movies and we talked about him like he was part of our family. Back then TV was pretty bad so we listened to music. Funny comment about the song , "How much is that doggie in the window". My mom used to sing that song when we were in the car on some of our crosscountry road trips. She was the entertainment for three small kids in the back of a car. Back then radio stations were dead air in most places and of course no IPADS. Robert painted a great picture of a wonderful icon.

Plant was on that mystery show where the camera shows bits of the person only, and after the guessing the person is shown, and I don't think anyone appeared more a friend to mankind than he did, just beautiful.
I bought Robert Plant's Principle of Moments back around '84, and have just started playing it a lot recently - I mean, the whole Album is compelling. And now, to hear how respectful he was of another artist I overlooked, is so refreshing. It beautiful when people see something you don't.
I love hearing stories about Elvis from perspectives outside of the USA. Plant describing Elvis in post war England and what that meant to him which is something quite different from what was going on with Elvis in America, it's quite interesting.
I didn't know what rock music was until I discovered Elvis and Led Zeppelin around 1977 when I was 12 ( my parents were country) now at 55 a truck driver I still listen to them both on a weekly basis...Yeah and sing and play my air guitar 🚛
plant has always been an insightful indiv. his brains have always been underrated. he has a reflective mind much on the lines of guys like bowie and lennon.

I, too, met him in a pub in New Orleans, and he was just as you say. Could not have been more pleasant and fun to be around.

I dig Led Zeppelin and they are a legendary band. And as far as I am concerned Robert Plant has had the best carreer post Zeppelin. He really shows his appreciation of the King on " Little Sister" from the concert for Kampuchea soundtrack also on the Honeydrippers song " There's good rock'n at midnight'

Plant was on that mystery show where the camera shows bits of the person only, and after the guessing the person is shown, and I don't think anyone appeared more a friend to mankind than he did, just beautiful.
I bought Robert Plant's Principle of Moments back around '84, and have just started playing it a lot recently - I mean, the whole Album is compelling. And now, to hear how respectful he was of another artist I overlooked, is so refreshing. It beautiful when people see something you don't.

I love hearing stories about Elvis from perspectives outside of the USA. Plant describing Elvis in post war England and what that meant to him which is something quite different from what was going on with Elvis in America, it's quite interesting.
I didn't know what rock music was until I discovered Elvis and Led Zeppelin around 1977 when I was 12 ( my parents were country) now at 55 a truck driver I still listen to them both on a weekly basis...Yeah and sing and play my air guitar 🚛

plant has always been an insightful indiv. his brains have always been underrated. he has a reflective mind much on the lines of guys like bowie and lennon.
I have never heard Robert's brain underrated.
@@theresacarmen9847 like Jim Morrison, with plant the press tended to hype and focus on the sex god lead hype as opposed to an insightful lyricist and a great ambassador to the legacy and history of the genre.

It starts out alittle slow, nevev heard anyone give hin when credit is do! Very very funny and interesting
Robert remembers Elvis playing 'Reconsider Baby' when he stopped the show; but it was actually 'Funny How Time Slips Away'. Great story.
