I was waiting for him to mention Wally Boag, having read Martin’s book “Born Standing Up” several years ago and hearing my brother Tim in Chico retell your Disney stories and your dad’s important role in the early days of Disneyland and the movies. What a fabulous legacy.
When I was kid I saw Steve Martin perform at the Golden Horseshoe Review (?) in Disneyland. We loved it so much we came back for more. It wasn't until I read his memoir that I realized it was him.
“You can start by wiping that fucking dumbass smile off your rosy fucking cheeks!” Planes, Trains, and Automobiles is still one of the funniest movies I’ve ever seen. Steve is a comedic genius.
I collected Pop Bottles for 2 cents a bottle then a Nickel a bottle and later on a dime a piece! 🤠 Most of the kids around my area neighborhood did the same!
Steve Martin seems to always be entertaining in his interviews,a rare commodity these days.On the "Tonight Show" most people were entertaining(brought out by Johnny many times),but a few people didn't need Johnny to be interesting AND funny.Hope,Rickles,Burt Reynolds,George Burns,Alan King,Red Buttons,Dean Martin,Jerry Lewis etc Today, only Steve Martin,Martin Short and Jerry Seinfeld fall into that category.
As a child, my friends and I wanted to break the streetlights so we wouldn’t have to go home. We were so naive. I don’t think we thought if the lights didn’t come on, it wouldn’t get dark. Maybe we did. We didn’t break them though…just wanted to.
"These were the days when you could just leave your house on a bicycle and come home at 5" and why exactly would you not be able to do that today? LMAO
For one thing, little Steve would have been stuck on the 405 with his bicycle for 3 hours. He wouldn't be holding up traffic because of his speed, however.

Always nice to hear Steve talk about my dad, Wally Boag. He has always given him credit for getting him started on his incredible career.
That is awesome!

Crazy your dad mentored Steve Martin, Steve should cut your family some kind of compensation.
Thats awesome. :)
🤯
amazing comedian and seemingly genuine human being. I also love the fact that Howard let him elaborate on a story without interruption.
rare... i find HS interrupts to much a lot of the time.
brilliant comic... there was no one else like him when he burst on the scene in the 70's...
And a killer banjo player
He’s a legend
Steve is a brilliant comedian, musician and actor. 👑🐐
And playwright

My buddy at work just referenced the Three Amigo dance and we had to do it naturally. Awesome you posted Steve.
That picture of Steve at 2:42 is fantastic. Captures his whole on-stage persona perfectly.
Steve is such a great guy. A wild guy. A crazy guy. :)
Great interview, Howard! Such a rich history in show business. Legend!
I wish my dad could have seen this. He always liked Steve Martin. RIP Dad. I miss you.
A wonderful actor 😊 I love Steve Martin
Living legend
Steve Martin is a great entertainer, one of the best.
“You can start by wiping that fucking dumbass smile off your rosy fucking cheeks!”
Planes, Trains, and Automobiles is still one of the funniest movies I’ve ever seen. Steve is a comedic genius.
American Icon and legend.
He use to go to Calabasas High school back in 1979, and do his comedy 😂😂🤣 Very funny Man
I don’t give a shit what anyone says, Howard is the best interviewer ever!!
Such a gem!
Such great stuff. Steve has always been an inspiration to me.
Great! Howard is so talented and it’s a wonderful interview! 👍🏼
The Jerk is his best movie..Dead Men Don't Wear Plaid is also another top notch Steve Martin flick.....oh....and LA Story.
In your opinion. In my opinion, Planes, Trains and Automobiles is his best movie.
All of Me!!
@@deniseboaz4611 good one

"I always thought you and I were best friends?" So good!
I guess he didn't perform for his parents' bridge club as Flydini. Thanks for posting this clip. Cheers.
Or be “The Great Martini”. I come shaken not stirred.
Holy fuck he looks young 🥺🥺🥺
He does. He looks like an older Sheldon Cooper from Big Bang Theory 😎
The Jerk…best 👏 movie 👏 ever 👏. “The cans…he hates the cans!”.
Leaving behind a wife and two kids 😂😂😂
Idk how he composes himself I would have laughed two minutes just at that delivery.
I kept thinking the cup would fall on the couch... my OCD kickin in lol
Love Steve
Wow I didn’t know Steve Martin lived in Garden Grove. That’s my hometown lmfao
2:29 steve hates that Howard called it disney world... It's the OG disneyland.
Let him talk Howard!!
He can't, it's Howard's MO.....

So many fun opportunities for kids back then :-)
noong Hulyo 25 nitong Martes
Can't stop stressing about his drink, makes me nervous 😵
He was a male cheerleader at Garden Grove High
He's a better comedic actor than he ever was a stage comedian.
Facts
No.
He was always acting. The best comedians have great stage acting skills.
Love Steve Martin
Disneyland Legend
Where are the full interviews?
Of course he had a special name, he was Flydini.
The Great Flydini.
"It's HIM! What's HIM doing here?!!"
For his age, He don't look bad. 🙂
All aboard the Steve Martin hype train 🚂
We have gourmet food, drinks, AC, accessibility, sensory areas and console games. Switch, PS5, all of them
Steve martini played inspector clouseau in the pink panther
The great flydini
🧡
Parenthood to me was his best movie
He coulda been The Great Martini
The title is 100% click-bait. Not once does Martin mention "Magic" Johnson...
He could've played Sheldon Cooper's father in Big Bang Theory. Everytime I see Sheldon, I can't help but think of a young Steve Martin 😎
Great, all the new homeless people in the US can watch this on their phones and feel so much better.
Born a TEXAN in Waco.......
I thought it was gonna be a Magic Johnson story.
I think the 80's were the last decade a kid could just leave on one's bike and come home when the streets lights came on.
As a child, my friends and I wanted to break the streetlights so we wouldn’t have to go home. We were so naive. I don’t think we thought if the lights didn’t come on, it wouldn’t get dark. Maybe we did. We didn’t break them though…just wanted to.
King Tut. King Martin
You got some knives you could bring...
Anyone else wishing stern would just hush up and let his guest talk? the interruptions to the next thing on the list were grating.
Anyone else think it was Magic Johnson.? 🤦🏻♂️😭
"These were the days when you could just leave your house on a bicycle and come home at 5" and why exactly would you not be able to do that today? LMAO
You don't get out much? Apparently.
@@integral Bro I go out all the time on my bike which is why I'm questioning the weird statement me made

Kidnappers, rapists, murderers.
Banjo playing fool.
Flydenni
2016, Stern just didn't listen.
When Robin is left out... Howard at his best, Robinless.
Interesting. Jason Alexander started out with magic too.
Of course Disney would be hire kids 🙄
Was Steve afraid of catching aids from magic?
"Comedy is not pretty."
And then ur a millionaire lol
